The past few days I've been getting a "Status Bar" force close which means the notifications bar completely disappears, including the main Android buttons in Tablet Tweaks.
Going into the settings and toggling top status bar or bottom status bar doesn't bring it back, nor does going into Manage Applications and clicking Force Stop on the status bar.
Has anyone run into this issue and been able to fix it without rebooting?
Haven't had the issue in a while (knock on wood), but it always recovered pretty quick (a few seconds later). Have you tried disabling "disable fullscreen"? That seems to have helped out. I found toggling all the buttons in the Tablet Tweaks area fixed a lot of things...
I had the same issue yesterday. After playing with WIFI setting several times, the status bar suddenly force closed and was not able to recover. I had to reboot the Nook.
Same issue here. My status bar will occasionally force close when playing around with one specific widget (Pure Messenger). Sometimes it will come right back and sometimes it doesn't and nothing outside of rebooting will fix the problem.
Has anyone come up with a solution that doesn't require a reboot?
Same, restarts sometimes, other tines it doesn't come back. You could use Hot Restart rather than reboot but otherwise...

App in the market, it's a widget that you tap and it'll offer to "hot restart", ie: Restart Android. It's a little faster than a full reboot.
You could try adding the open/close status bar shortcut to your homescreen. Long press on home screen->launcher actions->open /close status bar.
I've started using Taker on my NC and I've found every time I open it, Status Bar crashes, and about half the time doesn't come back... Meh.

Thanks. Which launcher? I had one fc lastnight, but fixed right away by rotating to landscape.

Doubt that.. It fixes itself sometimes after a few seconds. Other times a reboot is required.

The default ADWLauncher has it, although it interacts very strangely with the double-chevron "allow fullscreen" soft-button control (diddles the same API, perhaps?). Just added it, so I haven't had time for a status bar crash since.
Rotating never worked for me, but the "Notification Restart" app worked maybe a couple of times, but hasn't the last few instances.

Unfortunately the status bar show/hide shortcut trick doesn't work if the status bar itself is well and truly gone. So far only a reboot has brought it back reliably.
In other news though, I've recently removed the Elixir widget from my home screen and gone to manually turning on/off the WiFi and that seems to have improved things for me. YMMV

I just upgraded to n102, no OC, and almost immediately got three instances of the status bar turning invisible, but still working (the screen space is still reserved but blank, the buttons work, you just can't see them), and rotating the screen fixes that problem. Smells like a missed repaint of some kind.
No complete crashes yet.
I remember, way back in the day, when my phone was stock and I thought it was so cool that my music controls would appear when I hit the power button to unlock the screen. Then I thought it was even cooler that I could control Pandora (I forget if it was through lockscreen or through notification bar) the same way.
Now I'm rocking Continuum 5.5 and was wondering if there is something I can do to enable non-stock music players to be controlled through the lockscreen or notification bar without having to add any widgets to my homescreen or without having to download any extra apps. I even hate having to drag the little CD icon down on the lockscreen when I'm using the stock music player. Basically I'm really lazy and would like to control both Pandora and my new Google Music app through the notification bar and hopefully even the lockscreen and I'm very picky about having widgets and such.
tl;dr: can I control non-stock music apps through lockscreen and/or notification bar without having to download any apps or add any widgets?
I would live that too, my stock music player controls dissapeared when I unlock the screen now
Check out Power Amp in the market. Does what your asking and more
Now if it only was a light sabor too....
I know Symply and Subpression did this for all lock screens. Samsung based lock screens work with Samsung player, other lock screens work with any other player, don't know for sure Pandora, but I thought they did. I ran symply for a while, buts its not as stable as continuum.

Well... the whole point is that I don't want to download any extra apps other than the ones I use, i.e. Pandora and Google Music. Besides, I've used PowerAMP in the past, when it was still free and I thought it sucked. Way too bloated with crap I don't need and a terrible UI.

I've tried all the lockscreens that come with Continuum 5.5 with Pandora, Google Music, and Winamp, and none of them had controls on the lockscreen. I'm also wanting controls in the notification bar again, I miss that too.
I see that in the description for the "Obsession" ROM it says that a few of its lockscreens will work with ANY non-Samsung music player. Can someone running that ROM confirm whether it'll give me lockscreen controls for Pandora and/or Google Music? Thanks.
Did we find a solution to this???
Continuum 5.6 has music controls on lock screen. Not sure about pandora though. I'll check it out in a few

Yep works with pandora

So to answer your question, you can upgrade to continuum 5.6 and that will give you like four different lock screens that will have music controls for non-stock music players and pandora on the lock screen. As far as notification controls, they don't seem to be there.

if you are referring to stock music player and continuum 5.6 then yes. But on 5.6 there is 9 lock screens., and several have music controls that work with any non-stock music player. Goto settings/lockscreen menu/lockscreen

Nope, I'm on Mosaic IV.
How do you get the miui lock screen to work on continuum 5.6 to look like the screen shots? Mine just has the lock slider on the left and the volume slider on the right. No music controls, and doesn't have the buttons like all the miui screen shots have.

Try posting in the rom's Q&A thread
Just added smart notifications to Media Utilities which basically adds notification controls to applications that have not added them yet like Pandora. Will automatically hide notifications if you switch the anther media app.

Well, I finally made the switch from iOS to Android. But there are a few things I miss about it, albeit little things.
I have no idea what's good and what's bad in the Play Store, what to avoid etc.
I'm used to having notifications on the lockscreen. Yes, I've realised I can pull down the notification bar when on the lockscreen, but AFAIK that's only if you don't have a password/pattern/face-recog.
I've also tried the 'Productivity', that doesn't show Skype messages, Tweets, WhatsApp messages and stuff like that.
I also have a 4-digit pin for my lockscreen, I'm used to typing in the PIN then it'll automatically unlock.
But on Android (or on Sense, anyway) I have to type it in, then press enter.
Like I said, they're little things. But things I miss nonetheless.
So! Is there anything I can do/change or anything I can install to 'fix' these things?

I understand that you're missing the things you've been used to for a long time but at the end of the day this phone isn't an iphone and it's not pretending to be either.
For me if i want to know who's contacted me i unlock my phone and check, it's that simple. In all fairness, if a lockscreen can give away information then it's a lockscreen that's not doing it's job, i want my info to be private until i want to use my phone, otherwise anyone could just open it and take a look.
I'm sure that you'll find that after a while you'll see why people use android over ios and if you ever make the switch back to ios you will miss android so much it'll just make the iphone look stupid.
As a rule of thumb i always go for paid versions of apps and avoid any with aggressive ads, so anything that installs something else with it has to go, If anything has notifying ads then again it has to go.
Generally speaking that's about it with the apps, just go nuts.
There are tonnes of "Best app" threads on XDA and majority of them are in the top 100 apps on the play store anyway.
Afaik there isn't a way to have iphone style scrolling of your notifications.
You do get missed calls and texts on your lockscreen though (the productivity switch is probably the place to go to turn most of these on)
It can be done goto your messages go to settings it will be in there something like display message on screen same for WhatsApp and so on
Exact same problem over here. Coming from iOS and being used to get everything I need to know right there on the lockscreen.
There are some apps on the Playstore that you can use as a workaround though.
First, don't hesitate to use Notifypro, it will send you a little notification like you could get on iPhone. Notification will appear everywhere, in a game, a video, etc etc. Easily configurable and useful. Plus it's free !
Next, I tried it but didn't like it that much, it's Notification LockScreen Widget. I'm not really fond of it, there must anoter app doing it better...but I can't try anothere one since my phone has been shipped for warranty.
There are 2 settings on the security section in settings, one to show message notification preview and one to show phone notification on the lock screen. Try those...

I've just realised how true this is now.
I've had to resort back to my iP4 while my One gets replaced, it's only been gone a few hours and I'm missing it already!
Same thing here. Was an ios user since iPhone 2g (the most beautiful one imho). This is my first Android phone after getting a nexus 7 last summer.
For me there's just some handiness in some of the functionality built into ios. What I "missed" was the batt status in percentages, volume control from headset and also the notifications.
Found these three apps:
Notification toggle
Can put a batt percentage in the statusbar. And also some very handy quicklaunch buttons in the notification tray like android 4.2.2. and touch wizz.
Jays headset control
The name says it all and it gets the job done.
LockerPro
It's a locks screen replacement which also shows notifications like ios.

cheers KH_; can I ask, is it stable for you? lots of reviewers saying it crashes quite often?
Apologies for the late reply mate.
Locker pro works really well! It's great being able to see ur notifications and actually read the content from the lockscreen! The app has a shortcut and widget panel accessible from the lockscreen too.
Jays headset control didn't work at all on my device so deleted it. I got the HTC metal three button headset. Good price, sound at least as good as headset supplied with the phone, skip tracks and volume control!

Hey all, I'm on the latest update there is for my C6903 and I have just noticed the music player controls no longer show on the lock screen when music is playing. It's not the end of the world as my headphones have music controls on them but it seems odd after all this time for them to be gone.
I've tried all the usual methods of adding widgets to the home screen but nothing changes, the clock remains!

Hi,
Do you have SmartKey installed on your phone by any chance? I've noticed that since the last update, the music control widget has disappeared from the lock screen which is quite annoying if you're using a headset with no remote control as I do. The only solution I've come upon until now is uninstalling this app. It used to be that if you disabled the 'music mode' on the app, the music control widget would reappear but that doesn't work anymore.

No problem. This thing drove me crazy once. By the way, I used my Xperia Z1 today and although I have SmartKey installed, the music widget is back on the lock screen. There has been no update since the last time I've used the phone and I haven't changed any of the settings. Quite weird...
So google play music for me works...but when I disconnect from bluetooth and I end the task for google play the icon remains in the status bar still and I have to reopen the player and close to make it go away. Anyone else have this issue? What players do you guys use?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
I've got the free 6 months of play music with the nexus so I'm currently using it.
However my go to app for music playback is poweramp.
Does that issue occur for you though? Like the player stays in status bar even after task has been ended?

If it is in my notification bar I click it to open, then press back on phone till the app closes. If it is still present I can normally just swipe it away.
