So i have my 4 year xperia SP and ofcourse by now have installed alot of roms etc.
I then stopped using it for 2 months and i think it was kinda bricked and i could fix it but since i had new phone i didnt and was on a vacation for 2 Months. I got some crazy of installing nethunter kali linux etc so i installed a rom again and did all that crap but eventually failed at kali linux and lost interest and left it again.
Now after i came back from vacation i found many useful things to do with my xperia(earning cash).
But there seems to be some issue with my PHONE! I can install any rom but it will still display the same startup animations i had once changed with a rom since i didnt like it. Installing any kernel disable wifi funtion like williams which was perfect before.
I tired to have a fresh start by flashing stock ftf file but it always fails with an error. I think even though everything is getting replayed by rom there is something tht still stays and is causing problems. I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND WHATS HAPPENING!
Im actually alot good at this kind of stuffs but this is the first time i faced such problem and here i am asking for the people who have even more knowledge than me
ty for your time and help provided

I don't think you can flash any sort of .207 with Flashtool, I tried, with multiple Flashtool versions and it would always fail and reboot the device with a "null" error.
I *believe* .205 or anything below that would work, or I guess you could try some of those stock ROMs here in the forums that are in either zip format (wipe fully before flashing) or they may have some ftfs.
Try installing older version of flashtool, it worked for me.

Hi. I rooted my sister's Galaxy S i9000, using the same methods I used mine (Odin, same kernels, etc.). Don't remember exactly which.
Problem is, her phone CONSTANTLY force closes everything (messaging, google services, browser, almost EVERY app).
And I mean, that's after wiping data, reinstalling the ROM. It happened on several mods: ICS MR1, MIUI v3, PilotX, CM7/9. Always. After one or two days of usage, she had to wipe everything. Even without restoring faulty apps or something like that, it would only take around 2-3 days for her to need to redo everything.
Now, I'm lost and I can't find what to do. Will changing partitions, kernels, anything like that help? What should I use? Any idea as to why this happens?
Note my phone was rooted and is running exactly the same kernel/software, but this never happens to me. I don't know what to do! Help! She's super pissed at me and she can't get any tech support because we voided the warranty by rooting.
Please I'm lost ):
Thanks in advance for any help!
First of all, I recommend to you that you flash again a clean stock rom (no mods, no custom kernels, just a stock rom). I know it's awful but it's for trying purposes.
If after 2 days it's still happening maybe it's time to install a kernel and format /system, /data and /cache directly. Else try installing CM9 latest nightly and keep it 2 days again
I think it's problem with the installation, but I can't be more helpful than now.
Tell us if problem is solved with this.

I'm not sure reinstalling Stock would work. Also it would give me two problems: I can't (already tried) finding a Stock i9000 ROM & Kernel with Hebrew available as a locale (my sister is 14. She knows ok English but I can't keep her with it on her phone for too long), as pre ICS did not have Hebrew built-in.
Two, I'm in the army and I have little time to be at home, meaning if this doesn't work she'll be forced to use that ROM for about two weeks minimum. I'm really hoping I could partition better or something like that which might be more dependable and a more valid, "trusted" solution..
I will keep this an option though, if I find no other solution before I get home, thanks!
Mmm... Well... There is a few roms with hebrew, I think. Here is one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1189676
You might try to flash it... It's the latest gingerbread released by Samsung with a lot of mods... I couldn't find any stock rom with hebrew support, I apologize.
Let me know if it works or not. Maybe I can still help you...
Hello everyone, Thank you for taking your time to look at thi and sorry for my bad english.
I have used my I9305 for 4 months until now without any fault. It was on official 4.1.2 XXBME3 stock rom with stock kernel but rooted, Philz Touch recovery. I have flashed PAC and Sentinel Rom before(2 months ago I think) but didnt stay on them as they had bugs to use as a daily driver. So it was on always stock.
And now, from 4 days ago, phone began to get laggy and everything suddenly force closes. Even though it had 2gb ram, dolphin browser get closes if i pressed home button. and after a day, it began to drain battery even in sleep and then after display time out, it goes to sleep and then turns off itself and battery gets very hot in that state. And I noticed that sound not coming out from speaker when ringing or I cant open music player or video player or voice recorder as the phone hangs and then reboots and after boot up, again reboots in like within 5 minute intervals.
So here What I tried,
1. Flashed stock from samsung updates firmware sites via ODIN 1.85. And yes I wiped everything before rom flash incl. Cache,Dalvik Cache, Data,SD card, System and everything except EFS partition as listed in philz recovery.
Result - Still no luck, reboots randomely, battery getting hot, music player video player crashes(video player doesn;t crash but when tried to play video it says cant play this video)
2. Again Rooted, installed TWRP and wiped Everything I could find and flashed stock again.(When wiping, TWRP fails to wipe data where it says type yes to wipe saying failed to format....unknown format and failed to remove encryption)
Result - Same again.
3. Flashed stock again without wiping. Result - Same.
4. Rooted, installed recovery, wiped everything and flashed PAC latest nightlies. stll same. Then flashed sentinel but same.
5. After trying 5 6 times flashing stock, I gave up and now its on Stock 4.1.2 BME3 and removed binary counter and ready to go for warranty claim.
But I still will to make this myself as it will take 2 weeks to get back to me if I give it to the retailer. So can you please help me guys. Thank you again.
Faqs and guides return to stock for warranty post and return to service .
Or just mess about for weeks and achieve nothing .
Thank you,
Yes, its returned to stock as mentioned. But may I know what cause this? cuz I use a S2 for years now and nothing wrong with it. So I think I know how to properly use android. I searched a lot. but sees lot of people complaining but no solution.

I have just recently restarted using this phone due to my uscellular S4 getting turned off. I am now back on my LG-P990 currently rooted and running CM10.1. BUT most importantly to me is the fact that I have all my wonderful apps on my s4, I want to be able to use them by using the LG phone as a tether and calls not much else BUT CM10.1 tethering does not work, so i find myself flashing rom after rom, avatar rom, older CM mods, none would turn on tethering, so i flashed a modded version of MIUI for this phone and it worked except for ONE thing no signal, tethering turned on just fine so i decided to look around for other roms and found Slimrom TRYED to flash it didnt work, try to flash actual MIUI roms off there site, didnt work, met with an error in CWM Recovery after some searching I found its because Im running the OLD Bootloader -_- THIS is the issue im having IF MIUI does NOT work is it possible to downgrade the bootloader again so i can restore my CM10.1 backup? I have been working at this for a week, if there is something here about this can someone please just point me at it? I would appreciate any help.
On a side note i DID soft brick the phone the other day and found a program called nvflash witch flashed an install of CM mod. Dont know if that will help any.

I really do not understand how other ROMs deny Tethering. Did you flash the latest 2.x kernel by pengus77 after installing the rom? Did you make a clean install(wipe everything then install)? On the other hand, yes you can switch bootloaders as much as you like, just remember that changing the bootloader wipes everything on your internal memory, so do a backup. Did you try just plain old stock 4.0.4? Should work there. Ask anything you want, if you're still having questions.

As to the flashing to stock i lost the original rom backup i had made along time ago and cant find the original firmware anywhere online. When I flashed CM 10.1 I just ran with it, when i go to try tethering it says "Turning on portable wifi hotspot." and it stays on that no matter what untill i restart, left the phone running for 2 days once and that was still stuck on that before i restarted. As for flashing a 2.x kernel i had no idea about that. But yes when i did the installs i would do a clean wipe and install. Most of what i read online led me to believe that there was an error with CM 10.1 nightlys that was not being fixed for the tethering. So that is why i decided to go to another rom. Two questions one how do i go about finding the original firmware for this phone and two how would i go about updating or downgrading the bootloaders and could i be pointed to the files please?

Okay, This is SFSP by @sgspluss which is a pretty fast, stable and battery-friendly slimmed down version of stock ICS. It is available for both Old and NewBL, so you might want to try that first. This is AIO Toolkit. I know that you've used it and bricked your phone, but try again, and for the love of God install the nvflash drivers because most people skip that part. You have to do it manually and if you're running Windows 8 you need to disable Driver Signature Verification. But yeah, you switch bootloaders with this.
Ive had my note 3 for awhile and have avoided rooting or modding it in any way for quite sometime, but i rooted the stock firmware i believe it was 4.4.2???? im not 100% with towelroot and i was able to install safestrap thats where my success ended I didnt make any backups for whatever dumb reason and also it has been quite sometime since modding any phones, now my phone wont boot into any rom ive tried i have tried two so far and i cant get the factory one back, half the time i cant install roms and the rest of the time they work but they wont boot ive tried creating rom slots but those dont work, read somewhere they arent supported in 4.4.2 ???? and when i tried overwriting the factory it still didnt work, now my phone wont boot into anything anymore and im not quite sure what i did wrong and if there is any way to fix it, i would have like to install knoxraid on this phone since it supposedely fixes the gps issues lots of people have

If you can boot to download mode do the Odin 4-file install here to get you back to stock NC2. After that root with towelroot, install SuperSU, busybox, and safestrap and you should be all set! Make sure to install busybox and safestrap from inside the actual apps too
Hi, new guy here. Quite new to the whole Android ROM flashing stuff too.
Anyway I thought I would share my experience for beginners like me who happen to be dumb enough to 'sort of' brick their phone like I did yesterday. I couldn't find anything close enough by searching on Google, so hopefully this will help people who go through the same crap. Sorry if this is too redundant
So basically I have a C5303, towelroot, XZDualRecovery, locked bootloader, .205 firmwire. I was about to flash a locked BL ROM, so I booted into PhilZ and started the wiping job. Now there's this option called 'wipe everything to install a new ROM' or something that I used on my n7000 Note, but yeah, that screwed me up this time. I think I read that some Sony phones don't have like a special partition for the recovery so I guess I just forgot that and erased everything. :highfive:
The phone would start up but remain stuck on the Sony logo, red light bar. It would only shutdown using the tiny back button.
After looking up various threads and getting scared stupid, I gave PC Companion a try. Hooked up the phone to the computer using volume down, then downloaded and installed the latest software update. I'm using Windows 8.1 so I had to make sure I didn't plug the phone to the PC too quick, as the driver wouldn't pick up and then disconnect. But it all worked. And reminded me how slow the stock 4.3 ROM is.
Voila!
