Are there also wired remote controls with a mic. and a 3.5mm output for some earbuds?
Cause the ones from HTC are rubish, but I do have a set sennheisers (with a short cord), but no remote control or mic..
I found those on a french site, but I'm sure you can find similar products on Ebay.

Not once is the griffin one mentioned in that thread...
i currently use the Etymotic Research HF2 for my iPhone, anyone know if these are compatible with the HD2?
I can confirm, it works fine with the 3GS Earphones Mic, the switch button in the middle put the person on hold on a call.
I'm having trouble getting a consistent connection through the audio jack, using the urbeats headphones given to me by p4u. Thus makes the audio crackle or mostly come out of one side. I've tried the headphones on another device and they are fine. Not tried other headphones in the HTC One yet but I'm certain its just a connection issue. I.e. I can't push the headphones in enough. Anyone else had this issue?

tested other headphones and they were fine. It's justthe URBeats don't fully go in. There is a slight bit of play.
Push them all the way in. I sometimes do that mistake by not pushing them properly.

Yup that was the first thing I tried. They won't go in any further. Looks like there is just under a mm of space. I've tried pushing fairly hard.
Oh that's odd. I think headphones can be defective. or the phone, which i hope not. Try another pair of headphones on HTC One.
And trying checking your headphone jack with a toothpick or small needle very carefully. It happened on my HTC One S, there was some dustball in it and I wasn't able to push it all the way. But be careful tho, you just need to check it lightly.

Thanks, first two posts. I've tried other headphones and the beats in other devices, All is fine. The problem is specifically with the combination of urbeats and HTC one. Phone is brand new so no furballs
Must be the 'phones. Did the standard beats-esque ones work that come with the phone?

I'm fairly sure it'sthe connection and not the earphones or phone specifically. Yes other headphones are fine. The urbeats are fine in other devices too. Issue is with the connection between urbeats and phone, I can exacerbate it by swiveling the connector.
Well if the other headphones are fine, this is really really strange. I really have no idea what might be the problem.
Had the same thing with the urbeats phones. Clean the headphone jack (the silver bit) with a damp cloth (or I just used licked fingers) to remove some production residue and they'll work fine.

Thanks, I will try that out.
Glad someone else has had a similar problem and understands what I mean. I am going to pop into a P4U if cleaning the jack doesn't work.
no

no, my work fine
Went into a P4U today and they confirmed the issue. Getting some replacement URBeats which will hopefully fix the problem. Either that or the phone needs replacing.
Think it's either a small socket or a big audio jack.
Sorry if this the wrong place to ask this question, but as the title says, my Apple earphones aren't clear on my s1. Plz don't say just buy beats or other earphones because the Apple ones are the most comfortable to me. When I use the apple earphones the sound quality is a bit weird, while other earphones work fine. If there is anyway to fix this problem I will be glad to hear.
Thanks.

Try this thing, while playing music, press and hold answer button on your headset, sound should become clear.
This is a well known hardware problem, it's that apple and samsung manufacture headphones jacks using different connection layout. That way headset mics do not work properly by different manufacturer. Usually, when you buying headset, it defines "iphone, htc compatible" or "samsung, nokia compatible" (not sure about specific phone manufacturer). I also have one philips headset which came with simple 3.5 female to 3.5 male adapter, to work with both connection types.
Moreover SGS1 has tv-out through the same headphones jack, this way it's more messed up, and even the sound does not work properly.
I guess your only option would be buying some adapter, seen several on ebay, specifically designed for sgs1, but I could not tell whether they do what it says.

I know reception is bad enough as I is, but if I made a better antenna from a cut headphone wire, is there a way to force the output to the speakers? Ive seen it on other phones before.

I just went back into the app and I see the popup. I missed it the first time because I had headphones in already. Thanks!

I do wish they could also use the USB plug as an antenna. We have awesome speakers why put headphones in.
Heck I could do without a headphone jack at all and have a small headphone to micro usb adapter. This would allow better speaker docks like ipods/phones/pad/maxipad/iPod mini/iPod nano. Etc... I know MHL works great for video/audio but I think it is a combined all or none. Would be nice to just take the audio from there.

I was looking up some cheap 3.5 mm FM antennas that are out there. I mean. I'm sure they'll look dumb, but if they're retractable and I can play the radio at say, the beach, or something, seems worth it.

I do not see them being much better than a chopped off pair of headphones. I have headphones everywhere from flights old crappy broken ones etc...

You ever consider using Tune-In to pull in your locale channels via WIFI/cellular data connection? That is how I get my local channels, and others that are too far away. Search for Tune-In in the apps store, it is free.
I'd have no problem with Tune in but my favorite station isn't on there because they have been having stream issues for the past few months...

Has anyone ever managed to get one of these to work?
I bought one years ago and tried to get it to work with a very clunky old phone - no luck. I've since lost it somewhere, but am wondering if it might be useful to make up for the lack of ir blaster
Anyone have any experience with these things?

Try using zazaremote: open app, configure a remote, there will be a message at the top of the screen saying there's to IR hardware detected - AT THAT POINT you plug in your 3.5mm IR and it should ask you if that's an IR you plugged, say yes... adjust the audio volume to 100% and try it.
Also you need to rotate some of them otherwise there is no contact, this is done so you can keep it plugged into your phone and still have audio through speakers / BT as if it's unplugged...
Please try that I'm waiting to hear if it works for you!

Hope it does. I'm pretty sure I will have lost the one I bought a couple of years back, but I'll have a dig about in my box of phone bits and will report back if I have anything to tell you
Edit:
I was surprised to find it fairly easily. Doesn't seem to work based on a quick check, but I'll fiddle with it and let you know if I have a breakthrough
Actually, these won't work (right)
They will but maybe with complete darkness lol
The trick is to have max volume but you really need an amplifier inbetween your audio jack and this product to have any significant range, I made one myself with a ln386 chip, one end plugs into the USB port and the other end to the audio jack, what it does it turn a led on/off through an app that's basically a soundboard with IR codes

Lumme! Sounds a lot more involved than I'd hoped. Think I'll stick to using the remote control!
Haven't had any luck using a similar product... Looking at the LED through another phone camera it doesn't appear to light up when pressing any function....

Hey Adriano-A3, my USBC IR doodad arrived in the post. There's a qr code in the instruction slip - all text in Chinese. Unfortunately the qr code references a website that's down. I've tried a few apps from Play but can't get any to drive it. Can you recommend an app?

I was playing with that last evening. I think the issue may be that neither our TV not our set top box are well supported. I tried setting up a new profile but it just kept screwing up.

U can buy Mi band 4 which supports NFC
Apparently the functionality is limited to some Chinese transit systems and such like - not available or particularly useful outside China so far as I've understood
I was going to buy this
