Can 4.5.8 flashed into Oneplus 3T? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

What literally happens when we flash 4.5.8 Version of Oxygen OS to Oneplus 3T?

Please don't.

You get probably hard/soft bricked.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

It's for the OP 5, a completely different phone. You can't install a ROM (plus firmware, modem, etc.) for a different device. It's not compatible, and won't work. Worst case scenario is a hard brick, as mentioned.
The likely result is that it will detect you have the wrong device, and simply fail (not allow you to install).

On my 3T Custom ROM works fine but OOS does not...!

My OnePlus 3T had dive in sea water few days ago. While EVERYTHING seems to work fine on a custom ROM (Can not flash OOS for some reason as it gets stuck at bootscreen) now only WiFi+BT does not work I guess the water must have done something to it not working as a result.
1. OOS flashes correctly but gets stuck in bootloop and vibrates again to get back in a loop of same process can anybody explain why custom ROM is working fine but OxygenOS is not at all????
I have tried Lineage and Paranoid (which is currently in use)... But all OOS versions fail to boot...!
2. Also can anybody please tell me what will be the cost of replacing wifi part for OnePlus 3T in India ?
Have you tried using the Qualcomm factory restore tool to restore phone to OxygenOS? Just make sure to pick the correct one for your phone as the 3 version softbricks the 3t and vice versa.

Yes I have tried that but only manages to stay working in Android 6.0.1 only can not update to other versions of OOS as it gets back in bootloop again getting stuck at logo

TWRP Procedure Check!

Hey, I want to make sure that this works fine:
General procedure:
- Unlock bootloader after waiting 1 week
- Flash TWRP
- Flash Global Stable Fastboot 10.3.3.0 (Not Recovery) by:
Backup in TWRP, keep backup on internal and on PC, advanced wipe everything, install rom listed above as well as GAPPS from OpenGAPPS and Magisk from the Magisk thread, then confirm flash
- Install Magisk Manager after setting up 10.3.3.0
Phone should now be rooted with all google apps and on MIUI 10.3.3.0 for International Phone
Is there anything that's missing from this?
Thank you for your help!
Edit: Is GApps necessary? If so, which one would be downloaded?
Also, should magisk and gapps be flashed AFTER the rom, BEFORE, or At the SAME TIME?
Why backup when you'll wipe everything ?, Besides i hope you're not going to wipe system in EVERYTHING, DON'T. just go to advanced and format data (type yes), then flash your recovery ROM and magisk.

Okay. Will not wipe data, cache, dalvik cache and system as in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/guide-how-to-unlock-bootloader-install-t3956945
Recovery ROM, or Fastboot ROM?
Thanks
Also, no need to install GApps or still need to? With MIUI.
I usually prefer fastboot ROM although it takes longer to flash but even recovery ROM will do. You will have to format data otherwise you will face bootloop according to my experience.

Sounds good. What's the difference between the two?
Do they both come with all google apps preinstalled?
Does installing either of them remove TWRP? (I've heard that when updating versions using recovery rom, TWRP needs reflashing)
I'm not sure about difference, But BE CAREFUL when flashing with MIFLASH TOOL, DO NOT check CLEAN ALL AND LOCK, only check CLEAN ALL, if you lock with a ROM of different region you will soft brick your phone.
Google apps come pre installed.
Yes with every update you'll have to reflash TWRP and root again.
I have moved to xiaomi.eu ROMs which come with TWRP preinstalled

Do you need to use MIFlash? I was planning on installing purely through TWRP. Are the recoveries in that thread only for MiFlash?
Also, what's the difference between xiaomi.eu and the global version? I don't mind reinstalling TWRP each time.

No, Miflash is for Fastboot ROMs, TWRPs are pushed with commands.

I checked the website, seems like a good idea to go with xiaomi.eu ROMs instead. Note: I'm in the US. Is that okay with .eu roms?
Would the rom "MIUI 11 11.0.2.0" on here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/redmi-k20-pro-firmware-10-3-8-0-9-6-13-t3939647) work with TWRP-only installation, or does that require Miflash?
Clarification on the steps as well:
Download the rom, put it onto the phone's filesystem. When formatting storage, it will NOT delete the ROM, and the ROM will be able to be flashed through TWRP?
Sorry for questions that may seem obvious, this is my first time doing this since 2014 and it's plenty more complicated now!

All Xiaomi.eu ROMs are flashed in TWRP.
1. Reboot to TWRP
2. Advanced⟩Format data, Type YES.
3. Reboot to TWRP again.
4. Now connect your phone to computer and copy-paste the downloaded Xiaomi.eu ROM to phone internal storage.
5. Flash the ROM
6. You're good to go.

Makes so much more sense now. Was wondering how all the data formatting and reworking doesn't mess with the ROM!
There shouldn't be any problems with the Xiaomi.eu roms when living in the U.S, right? (LTE with Band 4, Google location as US)
Also, I did a quick search and it turns out Xiaomi.eu rom weekly updates arrive OTA? Is this the case for what I'm doing, and if so, will each OTA update remove TWRP + root?

Your LTE bands are safe. And yes the OTAs come with TWRP preinstalled so it'll reboot to TWRP and flash by itself. Even if it fails you can always flash manually.

Oh, sorry, one last question!
Using the ROM from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/rom-miui-11-xiaomi-eu-t3984691
That's flashed with TWRP. Will it, too, get the weekly OTA updates? Or do I have to install the beta build from here to do that? https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/redmi-k20-pro-firmware-10-3-8-0-9-6-13-t3939647
Perhaps a better question would be, which source should I use for the rom, or will any european edition xiaomi rom work to get the weekly builds?

Weekly builds are usually beta builds, and to go from beta to stable will require clean flash. I suggest you download stable builds and wait for stable OTAs whenever they're ready

Sounds good to me, I'll go with stable, then.
Correct me if I'm wrong with these points:
Magisk will be flashed at the same time as the stable MIUI 11 ROM, and the phone will remain rooted with Magisk even after each OTA update
Xpozed can be installed through the Magisk Manager app (which is persistent after each OTA update)
OTA updates do not change anything to do with the phone's storage
Regarding magisk i have forgotten if it flashed automatically or i did manually, but it shouldn't be a problem manually.
OTA won't affect storage. They're like normal OTAs

Question Where does Oneplus provide the Stock ROMs for Nord CE?

Hi
pretty much what the title says - I need to download the stock ROM for my new OnePlus Nord CE 5G, so I can patch it with Magisk, I went looking for it and couldn't find it.
Does anyone know where it is made available by OnePlus?
Thanks!
you should wait a day or two, there doesn't seem to be anything aside from bad websites with questionable content
Ok, thanks.
I guess this is the official place, right?
OnePlus Support Softwareupgrade - OnePlus (United States)
support softwareupgrade
www.oneplus.com
but the Nord CE isn't there yet. I really hope it only takes "a day or two" like you mentioned, I don't have much use for the phone before I can restore my Titanium Backup on it, and for that I need root, and for that I need Magisk, and for that I need the stock ROM download
welp the day or two wasnt meant literally
it might take a long time lmao
and yes that looks like the official
Hey! Congrats on the new device! I bought it too!
https://www.oneplus.in/support/softwareupgrade
This is the official oneplus link to download software but for some reason the nord CE isn't listed on there. I wanted the latest update too because there were some bugs in my device which were installation errors mostly. They were fixed with the OTA released a few days ago. My advice is stick around and post on the oneplus community forums since it's much more device-centric.
Thanks

Yes. Same issue. Had to download Nova launcher for a workaround, until they sort it out. I wonder if this is the quality software integration with OPPO they were talking about!

Damn, my package is only 146MB, so I guess it can't be a full package, it's just an incremental update... so I can't use for patching Magisk...
I'm angry at OnePlus for not releasing the Nord CE 5G Stock ROMs, why do they have to make this more difficult than it already is?
I literally only switched from Samsung to OnePlus because it was supposed to be more root-friendly...

Thanks, I didn't know about that app! Cool.
Downloading 2.72 GB now...
Tip for anybody not familiar with the app: you have to go into Settings, turn on Advanced Mode, to get it to allow you to download a full update even if your phone is already up to date.
Hooray !
I just successfully rooted my OnePlus Nord CE 5G!
I used the method that @sanangel recommended above.
Essentially it involves:
- an unlocked bootloader (I had done that on the first day I received the phone, to avoid losing data later)
- getting a full OTA package (I got this using Oxygen Updater app recommended above)
- use Payload Dumper python script to unpack that
- move boot.img to the phone and use Magisk Manager app to patch it there
- move the patched boot.img back to PC and use fastboot to boot from it
- inside that temporary boot, use Magisk to execute a direct install
Thanks to all for their help!

Any Unbrick Solutions......?

Question Is there a safe way to flash OTAs without unrooting?

For some reason even when I remove Magisk and restore stock , I cannot get OTA.
When I try to install the OTA I get the same "downloading update / update paused / there was a problem updating" that happens when you try to OTA with root.
Is there any other way to flash OTAs?
I especially need to do so because my ROM seems to be corrupt.I have no NFC and the OS asks me every time I hit the home key, to select a default launcher. I'm hoping flashing an ETA will help with this.
My suggestion is to factory reset your phone, flash the rollback zip and update to the latest OTA via fullzip and root that,in order to rid of the firmware corruption.

Downgrade package is a full ROM though and then OP can use the updater to run each available incremental update from there. It's not ideal but it is what it is and likely is the only option.

I feel the same about the choice of Samsung. I have a bigger issue with the modem than the processor though and I knew from the start it was going to be problematic and all the crap I have seen since has confirmed that.
If there is no cracking of the MSM Tools (which seems likely seeing how it hasn't happened for Oppo either), I don't know what I'm going to do. Maybe I'll just go back to iPhone. At least there I'll get a device that performs well with gaming while still having good battery...
In my experience with the 7T and 9 Pro, if you're already rooted and have an update, you can uninstall Magisk/restore stock boot.img, then install the update, BUT before rebooting, go into Magisk and select "install," then "inactive slot (after OTA)," then let it reboot. You should then still be rooted as before.

Once in Fastboot mode, try flashing a clean boot and recovery to BOTH slots like this :
fastboot flash boot_a boot.img
fastboot flash boot_b boot.img
fastboot flash recovery_a recovery.img
fastboot flash recovery_b recovery.img
Follow the steps on this site to Flash the stock ROM above using the Fastboot Enhance Tool

Feel free to download Fastboot Enhance Tool.zip (backup location)
If you have trouble rebooting to FastbootD (Recovery)
Try swapping Active slots from the application (typically slot A worked for me)
Choose reboot to FastbootD
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but is this to be used when the OP 10 Pro is ALREADY on OS 13, or is this to be used when the unit is on OS 12 (not yet rooted) and you want to take it to OS 13?
Thanks for your help.

Can you use ADB tools to restore stock rom if the device was soft bricked?
No. There are a few unbricking tools I've had to use in the past such as MSM tool, Fastboot Enhance Tool, and payload Dumper. (Google them, they're easy to find)
Note, that MSM tools are (nowadays) typically created and coded with a specific device and may also require authentication to unlock.
I've since moved on to the Google Pixel Pro series after seeing the terrible "Franekstien Project" that Oppo applied to Oneplus in their Color OS "make files"... It's literally a "lucky" mash-up of OnePlus Legacy OS and Oppo.
When companies sell out like that, do lazy transitions, etc. and the core reason we supported them in the first place becomes both forgotten and obsolete, that's when I typically stop supporting them.

No. There are a few unbricking tools I've had to use in the past such as MSM tool, Fastboot Enhance Tool, and payload Dumper. (Google them, they're easy to find)

Fastboot enhance works fine, you need to remove the cow files first and have a valid payload.bin but that's it
