I just installed my unit ( MTCD+KGL_V2.54_4 ) its running Android 6.0.1,
working well but cant figure out how to get text messages on the unit ( written or read )
the phone side works ok though,
It came with easy connect pro , do i have to use that ? I was hoping to just get messages
from phone using bluetooth
I have the same problem with ours.
Sony XAV-AX100
Samsung Galaxy S7
Samsung Galaxy S8+
It worked ONCE per phone then stopped. A text message comes in and my phone flashes, but NOTHING comes across the headunit.
I'm using readittome on my phone and it works ok but its not great,

When I got my gear and Note 3 (from a guy on Craigslist) it worked perfectly. My very favorite App was "Pattern Dialer", which made it possible to speed dial from the Gear, and launch/hear the calls on the gear.
Then, I switched from Page Plus to Verizon, and the phone upgraded to Android 4.4.4. And pattern dialer stopped working.
I purchased another note 3 running 4.3, (and rooted it to prevent upgrades) in hopes that would solve my problem, but it didn't.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this isn't working or what I should do to make it work? I've got $100 if someone can make it work on one of my phones.
I have a toddler, and being able to answer and make calls from my wrist was really amazing. Please help me get it back.
Thanks so much.
Is anyone else using the n920c variant of this phone with a stock firmware and android auto?
I've used a nexus 6 and the AT&T "n920A" variant of the phone with android auto and haven't had any issues. With this "c" version, however, most android auto features work, but it doesn't seem to want to read back text messages to me. Sometimes it works, but usually it doesn't.
I'll get the notification on the android auto screen, and then tap the notification. Then there's the little tone that plays before it reads the message, but the tone gets cut off and the message is never read.
Every other feature of android auto that I've been able to test seems to work fine. I can ask random questions, send text messages, use navigation, listen to music, etc. It's just the reading back of text messages that seems to be whacked.
I've tried both the 1.2 and 1.3 versions of android auto with the same lack of success. If I clear cache/data and re-setup android auto, it MIGHT read text messages once or twice before it stops again...
If others are using the same phone (with stock firmware) and having the same issue, I'll really feel much better about this. If others using the same phone are NOT having the same issues, I'll start wondering if something is wrong with my particular device...
thanks
Gary
My nexus 6p has been working perfectly with my 2016 vw for past couple of months. Now, I can no longer send a text message or hangouts message. Still connects perfectly, makes calls and navigates by voice but no longer listens when I want to dictate a message. This seemed to happen overnight as it has always worked perfectly before and I am not aware of having made any changes to my phone or car. How weird. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm having the same issue with my Galaxy S7 Edge running Android Auto on my Pioneer AVH-4100NEX. I went on vacation and my car sat for a while and now when I'm in Android Auto mode I can't receive and send text messages. I ask Google for the weather or to do a calculation and I get nothing. However, if I ask Google to dial someone whether in my contacts for not, it dials the number. Does this make any sense? There doesn't appear to be any official Android Auto support. I contact Pioneer and they told me my contacts weren't syncing with Android Auto which was strange enough when they said it, but given the fact that I don't get a reply when I ask GoogleNow for the weather means my contacts shouldn't have anything to do with it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
Has anybody figured out a way to get this to answer calls from the Google Voice and/or Hangouts apps? I have the added complication of using it with a tablet that "can't" make voice calls. The "Phone" app is hidden and with everything I've tried (nothing tricky, just the standard options), my Neo tells me something like "your connected Android device is not capable of making calls."
I'm using a rooted AT&T Samsung Galaxy Tab S (SM-T807A), running Android 5.0.2. I'd like to be running basically anything other than TouchWiz but locked bootloader is a pretty big hindrance.
My Neo is running software version R381XXU0BOA2.
I'm able to get notifications from the Hangouts app (even missed call notifications, ironically) so I suspect that if I could somehow trick the Neo into thinking the T807 is (for example) a Galaxy S5, it might let me answer calls. But I have no idea how to do that or if that's even where the problem is.
