How to get back the original recovery mode - LG Optimus L90

So recently I bricked my phone and had to flash into a stock ROM, but after flashing the phone worked fine, but the recovery mode I used to have is gone and is replaced by just a menu that offers to factory reset. So how do I get the old recovery menu back?
also how do I downgrade to kitkat?

Not sure if helpful, but the menu offering factory reset is not a part of the recovery and will stay there no matter what. I have TWRP on my LG L90 and still have to "Confirm factory reset" for TWRP to launch.

Did you install TWRP Recovery before and are referring to it? When I want to start twrp I just type yes on the factory image menu you mentioned and TWRP automatically starts up without deleting anything...
Of couse I am not responsible for any data loss that might happen, but if you are in this particular siuation it probably works.
Perhaps you even habe to install TWRP Recovery (or anything similar) again since there is no real bootloader mode (just the download mode) on the l90 and your custom one might have been deleted.

Can't factory reset?

I tried the instructions posted at the Motorola site here:
https://motorola-global-portal.cust...r_detail/a_id/94936/p/30,6720,8696/reg/348778
It doesn't matter if I do the software reset from within android or the external reset, it won't work.
If I try the reset within android, it reboots and then boots normally.
If I try the external reset, I can get to the bootloader but when I choose 'factory' it reboots normally, not to recovery.
Device is rooted.
Any help?

Where did you get the stock recovery and how did you flash? I'm stuck in FC look and can't factory reset.

I got the image from here:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ghost_rcica/list.php
Booted the phone to the bootloader (adb reboot bootloader) and then used fastboot to flash the stock recovery:
fastboot flash system recovery.img
Then I was able to do a factory reset using the typical instructions posted in the OP

[Q] So I wiped System in TWRP...

Like an idiot I wiped my System inside TWRP. Using TWRP 2.6.0.2
Earlier tonight my phone starting rebooting. I was inside GooManager and tapped reboot to recovery. When I did that, for some reason my phone lost root. Meaning when I went to reboot inside TWRP it stated that it looks as if my phone is not rooted. I rebooted anyway without installing SuperSU through TWRP. I was already rooted. Afterwards, it would boot up fine but kept constantly rebooting only after a minute or two.
I went back into TWRP and clicked through dalvik wipe and cache wipe. Still got reboots. I was planning on flashing CyanogenMod anyways so I thought I'd go on and wipe everything. I went in to advance wipe and check everything. As I swiped the slider to wipe I realized I checked System too, but it was too late.
Now my phone won't boot past the HTC logo with the red text underneath. I can boot into TWRP however so I hope all is not lost. I am currently at work so I have no way to try anything on the phone at the moment but was hoping for some advice on what to try later when I get home.
I'm thinking maybe I'll be able to use the "Mount" tab in TWRP to load a ROM on and flash and everything will be well again. Would I mistaken to think that? If not, I'll purchase an USB OTG cable and use a USB stick but I really need this up an running as quickly as possible.
Also, does anyone think it would be best just to go back to stock at this point (if I can) and start from scratch?
Much thanks for your help and advice,

So, oddly enough I did the same thing, How I managed to recover it so you can adb sideload a rom from TWRP and have access to a "working" phone again was to find your stock recovery.img, then flash it via fastboot, and then from the hboot menu, choose factory reset and let the stock recovery do it's thing, then reflash TWRP (I honestly like CWM doe) and adb sideload a rom (presumably what you were using before). It SHOULD fix your problem and you'll be able to mount files again.

By stock recovery.img you mean a stock HTC image? - or do you mean a recovery like TWRP or CWM?

K. Thanks. I have a feeling this is going to be a bit more complicated than I first thought...
I followed what you suggested and got the phone back up and working. Thanks again.

Am I SOL?

So my phone has decided to soft-brick itself after upgrading to Lollipop. It never even made it a single normal bootup after the upgrade. I get to the Optimizing Apps screen and then it shuts itself down after that finishes. I can't get into the OS, but I can boot into Recovery Mode. I've tried to wipe the cache partition to no luck. I haven't tried to Wipe Data/Factory Reset because I want to try and recover my data.
I haven't rooted the device or put on a custom recovery. Is there any way to get in there and grab the files off? I can see the device listed under 'fastboot devices' using ADB but don't know where to go from here. I tried to flash a custom recovery but it doesn't work because the bootloader is locked?
Am I basically screwed and my only option to just factory reset and lose my data?
I found a rooted ROM on rootjunkysdl (sorry I'm new and can't link) Can I use RSDLite to flash that on the device and go from there?

The rooted rom that you see there is a kitkat rom. Since your bootloader is now expecting lollipop, flashing that would be a very bad idea. In fact, since you've taken the lollipop update, the odds of you ever being able to root your device are unfortunately near 0. But to answer your question, full firmware files for the 5.1 Turbo firmware have not yet been released by Verizon. That's what you would need to flash with RSDlite. So your options are to wait for those or to factory reset.

Would something like this work? http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/general/turbo-unbrick-t3139811
If it's just for a hardbrick could I flash the wrong firmware then use this tool to get it working again?

At a glance, it seems like that should work. I'm not too familiar with that method. Also, you're in luck. It seems that Verizon dropped the official image today. You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/dro...-5-1-image-t3152229/post61744745#post61744745

Stock Recovery

Hey
I have got a kinda big problem. I wanted to factory reset my phone, because apps were not responding, force closing and I had a lot of apps installed (I am on B135), so I went in my TWRP 2.8.1.0 recovery and factory resetted. cache was unable to mount, so I only wiped data and rebooted. The same problem now occurs only worse.
I thought about the cache that might be causing this, but all attemts to wipe it (recovery, apps) failed.
I also thought I could flash the stock recovery again and force update the phone, but the 3 button method isnt working and (of course) I need the stock recovery
Someone please help

I would suggest that you install the latest twrp with flashify and then update your phone, because the newest twrp has the emui updater already built in, so you don't have to re-flash recoveries all the time.
Thanks Sproker,
One problem though. The lastest twrp does not seem to work because it is EMUI 3.0 and I am on EMUI 2.3?? I recently fixed it finally, but I still want to upgrade to EMUI 3.0... Is it worth it? And if it is, what am I to do?
Download the update.app (B135)
And extract the recovery.img
Now download ADB/Fastboot and the latest driver (HISiute).
Connect your phone with the computer and boot your phone into recovery mode.
Now boot into bootloader mode and search the device with "fastboot devices" if it is correctly connected, it should be displayed.
Now flash (first move the recovery.img into the ADB /Fastboot folder) the recovery.img you extracted before.
"fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
Now you should have the stock recovery back on your phone.
But if twrp didn't work (erasing cache) the stock will also not work.
Try to erase cache via fastboot. But I don't know the code...

Missing Factory boot menu / factory mode menu on Roidmi2 (WT86047)

As described here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73658433&postcount=1883) I installed the LineageOS 14.1.
But since then pressing Volume Up + Power buttons doesn't bring me to the factory boot menu anymore (in which I could statt TWRP), it stucks in the Mi-boot logo.
I already reflashed the ROM again and the current TWRP via fastboot but also via TWRP itself, but the problem still persists.
I can only acces TWRP if I start it via the TWRP app (and reboot) or via fastboot "from outside" (fastboot boot recovery.img).
Any idea how to fix it? Is there a factory recovery image fot the WT86047?

Volume Up + Volume Down + Power Buttons
That helps to get into TWRP during boot. Thank you!
But how abot the original factory mode menu? Is it gone with the current TWRP on all Roidmi2 devices or just on mine?

Factory Mode Menu is exclusive to MIUI ROMs or ROMs who include the files or partition of FMM (correct me if I'm wrong), TWRP has nothing to do with FMM missing. Basically, devs of Redmi 2 custom ROMs don't include FMM, and LineageOS (you flashed it) certainly doesn't include FMM. So if you want FMM, better stay stock, or find a way to build a flashable zip that enables/install FMM in any ROM, regarding stock or custom.
Umm.. by Factory Mode Menu, are you talking about the menu that can do HW tests? or are you talking about stock recovery?
Just do the fastboot method, and it'll come back. I even flashed a custom MIUI (xiaomi.eu's Custom MIUI ROM) via TWRP and factory mode menu exist in it. Just to make sure, if you are going to flash xiaomi.eu's CusMIUI ROM, I suggest you to backup your efs and modem partition (modem-firmware) before flashing it, because installing that ROM flashes firmware's too, in some cases, the phone couldn't detect the SIM card, or signal lost because of incompatible bootloader firmwares. If you're familiar in editing updater-script, trying deleting the rows that flash firmware, and make sure to delete the firmware files too inside the zip. (<- Extra info, just incase, I don't want to be blamed for these type of problems)
