Hello everyone
I just wanted to ask if there's any solution to what I'm facing right now.
Basically, every time I connect my phone to PC to mirror the screen, the phone restarts. That includes smart view and side sync screen sharing. I have tried re-installing side sync in my PC, in my phone, as well as factory reset my Phone and formatting my PC (one by one).
Current Android version, according to my phone, is Android 7.0
It used to work around 3 months ago, but now it just decides to restart every time I try to mirror my phone screen to my PC.
Thank you for your time~
I have the same problem!

for the past few weeks i have not been able to connect my phone with any computer using any cord. all are either vista computers or they have active sync 4.5. at this point i have reached the conclusion that the problem lies with the phone itself. i may have deleted the whatever it is that runs the usb on the phone.
any suggestions or past experience would help. i don't really feel like spending money on a new one. it gets frustrating when many mods are done from (or at least started) on the computer, and then require my to connect my phone.
btw... i have synced the phone many times before the problem started using all the same components i am trying now.
EDIT: the battery icon shows it is charging when i plug it into a usb, but from there, i have nothing, and i have also reset memory a few times since then too.
Thanks again from a modding newb!

How are you trying to sync it? Plug it in and wait for Active to launch? Launching Active yourself and clicking connect, or from within the phone itself?
I wonder if disabaling USB charging would allow you to sync it up again.. Have you reinstalled the computer software from the CD again?
I am sure there is something you can do aside from a full phone reset...
At first, i just plugged it in, like i do every day, and wait for active to launch, but it didn't, so i opened it manually.
I tried reinstalling from the OEM disk, and also downloading directly from Microsoft (both AS 4.5).
ill poke around and see if i can disable USB charging like u suggested. thank you.
Alright, day 10 of my epic tale...
Handset: Samsung Captivate SGH-I896 (Rogers)
Computer: (MacBook Pro, WinXP 32bit, Win7 64bit)
Really the story starts about 10 months ago. Captivate boots up one day after a night of charging only to display "Downloading Do Not Turn of Target!!!". No matter what boot method of key combos will change this. Well the phone found its way into the junk drawer and forgotten about. Fast forward to about 2 weeks ago, my current fruit based named device type 4 receives a large blow from my 2 year old causing its all glass front and back to be unusable, parts are now on order. I look into the junk drawer to find a suitable interim replacement. I find my 'ol Samsung Captivate, put the battery in, plug it in and BOOM, it boots just the first day out of the box. Two days later, back to "Downloading Do Not Turn of Target!!!"... Damn. Everything I have tried from my 96+ hours of trial and error has led me here to post. ODIN, Heimdall, Kies, OneClick this, and OneClick that, nothing.
I have had the phone boot up properly twice in ~10 days, the back to Download Mode.
[TL;DR] I'm a n00b, every attempt that you can image and a few you can't. Samsung Captivate will NOT exit from Download Mode.
Thank you for your time,
Nate.

I really don't know that I have a good answer for you but first of all since you've indicated that you've tried several methods including one-clicks... did anything that you tried to flash show in the program you were using that the time that it went through and flashed?

No program was able to detect the phone, only one PC was able to detect that something was pluged in (WinXP 32bit), all attempts with various drivers did not change this. However once in a blue moon the phone boots just fine, battery charges I can sync with Mac & PC. This tells me that the general condition of the hardware is good.

So when the phone is in download mode and you plug it in via usb the computer doesn't recognize it at all? It's not listed on device manager as it should be or unknown?
I could be way off base but it almost sounds to me like your usb port is going bad. If it's shorting out in there it could explain why it's constantly going into download mode. And why every once in a while it actually boots and functions as normal.

The USB on the phone does charge the batter, if I leave it plugged in and unplug it, it will sit in download mode until the battery runs dry.

Hi,
A few days ago, I replaced a USB socket on friend's old Samsung Note 1 (GT-N7000). Soldering may not be very professional, but it does the job - the phone is charging and it can connect to the computer.
Today (3 days after replacing the USB) he came back to me with another problem -
after turning on the phone, only the white brand name and model appear at the start and then nothing, a black screen. I think it's turning off. He says he had some problems with the battery in the meantime and the screen was flickering strangely.
He had a custom ROM loaded for a long time that worked normally and worked well on this phone.
Today, despite not starting the system, I was able to enter TWRP recovery and DL mode. However, if I wanted to do anything in recovery (backup, factory reset, etc), the screen turned off. After a few attempts, it stopped going into recovery.
I have restored the original software using Odin and N7000XXLSZ_OXELS7_4.1.2_Repair_Firmware
- still after the white inscriptions at the start, the screen goes black and nothing
- trying to enter recovery, overturned android appears for a moment and the screen goes black
- DL mode works
Maybe someone knows what could have happened and most importantly how to get this phone work? Preferably on some "custom ROM" to have at least Android 7.
I was thinking, I was looking, I was tearing my hair out of my head. I searched half the internet and suddenly stumbled upon this - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...bricked-only-download-mode-available.3096409/
The phone is the same, the problem is the same - the battery is to blame. I immediately called the owner to give all the batteries he has.
OH, OF COURSE! The one I got along with the phone and its problems was the only one that caused all the restarts and errors. After inserting a different battery, the problems were resolved.
All that's left is to clean up Android and the case is closed.
By the way - I have collected in one place the files and information (Polish language only) on how to install NightOwl LineageOS 14.1 Android 7.1.
2 on this phone. If anyone needs this information, please visit here - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1libYpWC4qJbjGJRE1Szf8L3eTdoHPTpE?usp=sharing
Hello I own a Redmi Note 10 Pro which has been an trouble ever since the warranty ended.
Occasionally, without any signs or any particular reason, the touch screen completely stops working and becomes unresponsive, effectively making the phone unusable. Now, in the past, a factory reset worked and miraculously made the touchscreen work again. This time, after 4 factory resets and multiple other attempts to go into safe mode, fast boot etc., the touch screen still shows no life.
Now it seems I have 2 steps left before losing hope on this phone.
1: I buy a on-the-go USB 3.0 to USB C adapter which would let me connect a mouse to the phone, only problem being that I am unsure whether it would work, since the phone is currently completely not working and is in the starter page of the firmware install. I would also not be able to select whether I want the USB to allow access for the mouse etc.
2: I can also try to flash the ROM using an USB from the PC to the phone, although I believe this is impossible since I cannot grant access to do so since I cannot tap anything on the phone.
Does anyone have any ideas?
