I recently purchased a Kinivo BTC450 for my car which acts as a bluetooth adapter and has an audio out 3.5mm for my car. It has a multifunction button that you can use to launch Siri on iPhones and almost anything on Android. At first I assumed it would open google search but it opened some weird google app that would only allow me to make calls and send texts but then I realized I didn't have the google search app installed. After I installed it, an intent window came up and asked me if I wanted to use the Google Search App. It works fine, the multifunction button launches the Google Search App as it's supposed to and picks up on my voice perfectly through the bluetooth adapter but when it plays back the audio, it's super quiet compared to the music and everything else. I have looked through all the settings in the Google Search App but can't find anything to make it louder. All the volume sliders in the Volume Settings panel are set to max. I've searched google and seen that a lot of people have had this issue but no one has any solution. Help me XDA, you're my only hope!
Hi, so since version 9.5 of Google Maps, there was supposed to be a "Voice Level" setting under Navigation Settings, which you could set to quiet, normal, or loud. My phone has never had this setting. Even after updating to version 9.6, I'm not seeing that option, this is all I see:

Is this what you guys are all seeing? Is this something with our phone where we don't get the option, or what? Any idea how to get it to show up?
I have a z3v,which is probably running a similar Sony android. I have the same problem. I can see an option to turn off bluetooth audio, but navigation audio is missing. I set my preamp low on Neutron music player to boost 20hz, so navigation audio it too loud. On my Droid DNA audio level is there on latest maps. I use ViPER4Android on both phones.
I've never seen this feature in any version of Google Maps going all the way back to the days of ginger bread, nor have I even heard of this feature. I just miss being able to control nav volume independently of the the media volume (like it was in Froyo). Is there any app that can mimic this?
Until about a week or so ago when I connected N6 to car system via bluetooth and used google maps, I got just the google nav voice. Now I start hearing media files, even ringtones and movie sound tracks. I have turned off settings for autoplay in Bluetooth settings, and try to turn off in PowerAmp. Problem is if I stop or pause the playing of the sound track in Poweramp then I lose the Nav voice as well. If I pause or stop the track playing in the car system I also lose the nav voice sound. I have flashed nothing at all between the acceptable nav-voice-only behavior and the onset of the automatic media file playing. Only thing that has happened was playstore updates including PowerAmp, and Google Maps. I did a search in this forum but found nothing about this. Driving me more nuts than usual.
Any help would be appreciated .
Seriously? Only 2 of us have this problem? Really need solution as Google navigation is basically useless until this is solved.
I've had the same problem. I haven't found a solution. I think using voice control has something to do with it.

Bump. Really need help, guys.
Do you ever use Google Music in your car?
I don't know if this will be the answer or not, but if you do have it, it's possible some of these files ended up in the queue. Open up Google Music and click the three dots in the upper right. There should be an option in there to 'Clear Queue' or something like that.
Since this seems to be more or less random media files and not actually songs, I don't know if this is the fix or not, but worth giving a shot.

I just started having this problem as well, and I have no audio player app (rely on built in player of ES File exporer). If you pause the song playing, then Navigation voice works. But whenever the voice says something, the audio file it randomly selected advances that amount of time as though it's playing too

Thanks for your response. No, don't even have Google music. I use poweramp but will see if I can clear queue or something. I haven't used it in the car but that's what is playing the sound files. I went into Poweramp while the sounds were playing and paused it and the sounds stopped. But Nav voice never came back.

So strange. Have you tried using nav (walking maybe?) while not in the car? I'm wondering if you could point it to an app problem or possibly bluetooth problem. What about if you use the nav in the car without going through bluetooth?
I'd also try freezing PowerAmp while using Nav and seeing if that works.
Try to eliminate as many variables as possible and see if you can pinpoint exactly what's causing the issue, then maybe we can find out why.
Other ideas would be clearing data from PowerAmp, test, Maps, test, then Google's voice-to-text or whatever the 'voice' app is that produces the turn-by-turn, test and see if you can nail down exactly what app it is.

Thanks. It plays songs as well as ring tones - - - any sound files it can find apparently. If I pause the player, nav voice stops too. Don't know why it suddenly started doing this. I have not had this happen before in my 11 1/2 months of Nexus 6. Same rom /kernel everything since mid August with no problems until last week. May have to go into Titanium and freeze Poweramp. What idiot dreamed up forcing bluetooth autoplay on us? At least Google maps has an option to play voice over bluetooth or not. Oh, well - - the joys of Nexus.
So I Went into Titanium and froze all music player apps. No more autoplay. Tomorrow I'll see if it sticks and whether nav voice plays over bluetooth. Pita to have to do it this way.

Unfortunately I have nothing to freeze, so I still need a fix. Gonna play around with some of the Google apps and see if maybe one of them (or an update) is causing this. Will let you know
UPDATE: OK for me the issue comes up if I use OK GOOGLE to start things off. The audio time counter advances whenever Candace (name given by my wife to the Navigation voice) speaks. Counter then pauses until she speaks again, then pauses, etc.
If I start Navigation without using OK Google commands, audio time counter does nothing when Candace speaks.
So I think it's one of the google apps. I rolled back a number of them to their default version, but that didn't matter. Could be one I didn't try or even another app. Again I have no music players installed. I use the audio player of ES File Explorer as needed.

Yup. Nav voice over bluetooth is fine. Next step is to unfreeze poweramp & see if autoplay comes back. I'll have wait until next week to try it tho.

I recently purchased a 11-RQ0364E-UK-A Pumpkin 8 Inch for my 2010 VW Scirocco. Turned out to be a cracking unit and will likely write up a review for it shortly but in the meantime I've got a few technical issues that I couldn't find answers to on here so would like some help with if possible:
1) I have the option in setting to change steering wheel controls but the buttons don't work here. They work normally to change tracks (except google play music), volume, mute and bluetooth. When I click on the buttons in the menu they flash but then the steering wheel just maintains its same controls as if it doesn't recognize them in the system menu?
2) Google play music does skip / forward next track (or rewind), is there anyway to add these controls?
3) In the standard apps, i.e. radio, DAB, music, the audio will stop / mute if you switch to another system app so there is not layers audio (multiple sources playing simultaneously). This doesn't apply to Google Play Music, is there any way to add this feature?
4)Reversing sensor audio stays on for a good few seconds after operation has completed so you still get the tone. Anyway of shortening this? Or even quietening?
Any help appreciated!
Hi to all, I have audio ducking when playing mixtrax app thru Bluetooth and AA using Google maps or Waze when I have a driving announcement, is there any settings suggested? Thanks.
I don't really understand what do you mean by ducking? Are you talking about the decrease of music level during navigation announcements? If yes, then there is nothing to do but to disable the announcements in the navigation app. For me, for example, the navigation map on my car's display is enough, I too don't use navi announcements because I don't like the music interaptions.

Yes, exactly, even if I disable announcement I have music interruptions when Google maps recalculate itinerary, what can I do? Thanks
This shouldn't happen. Are you sure that the interruptions occur only when gmaps recalculates?
I'm asking because I also have something similar, but the music volume doesn't go to zero. I think that this kind of interruptions, which in my case are occurring at any time, not only when Waze recalculates, are due to other notifications you are receiving on your phone, like emails, whatsapp messages etc. I didn't find a way to get rid of this kind of interruptions. But try disabling messages notification in AA. I found today that you can access some AA settings, especially those related to notifications, straight from the car's screen.
