But in mobile developer options it says in Mi unlock status the device is locked? :/

I bought my mi mix brand new from eBay and the bootloader was already unlocked!

hmm weird. i bought mines also brand new from ebay. except it wasnt unlocked. you know, i had to request unlock, then wait 72 hours after request was granted, then BAM!

Yeah it is weird. The device was already set up with google play installed. I didn't have to do anything but figure out how to change the language to English. And after that I enabled developer options and that's were I seen it said unlocked. I don't know if that meant sim unlocked or not, so I went through with the whole bootloader unlock process and root. I'm thinking that it meant BL unlocked because this/our device is dual sim and international. Considering you had to go through a wait of 72hrs makes me think if mine wasn't already unlocked then I would have to do the same and request unlock? I paid like 560 for mine on eBay and it was brand new and sealed..

You can just use the old version of mi unlock to skip waiting 72 hours.
After you get approval that is. If you want it just Google or pm me if you couldn't find it.

But you still have to wait 72hrs to be able to unlock. I also got unlock permission quick, around 10 minutes. Must be automated.

Received new MI 9 with unlocked bootloader

Hi all.
Just got the transparent edition and it arrived with unlocked bootloader. Already done a ota from 10.2.15 to 10.2.17.
What concerns do I have with this? Obviously I cant relock bootloader and don't really want it locked anyway. Will it be tied to someone else's account because the bootloader was unlocked? What can I flash what can't I flash? Should I return it?
Just want to make sure before I brick a thousand dollar phone.
Cheers

When unlocked, a phone is usually linked to a Miui account.
- If you're in Europe, we got DRM Widevine L1. Unlocking + Flashing could give you WIdevine L3. Remember : Unless you're in Europe, Widevine IS L3 !!
If you're outside Europe, check the LTE/4G bands. They're usually the same, but like the DRM, you can't really "flash" 4G/LTE from a chinese phone to an african, russian phone for example...
When done, try wiping the phone and getting it locked to your phone number in Miui.
That's what i'm saying. Someone else has unlocked it and I just received it yesterday.. That is one of my concerns if I flash it with mi tool will it need someone else's password or mine even though it was set up with my mi account.
The device is tied to my mi account done that on setup . So that's what I'm asking because i never unlocked the bootloader though and someone else did what will happen if I reflash with mi tool. I think it would want my password but I'm just making sure before I do anything.
Cheers

Hi, Mi 9 Transparent is available for China market only (China version), you Cannot relock your bootloader if you're on Global rom, otherwise your phone will be bricked.

Said that in my post. About relocking

Unlocked the bootloader - no waiting time

I bought a new Mi 8 / dipper and went to unlock the bootloader. Needed a bit of fiddling, but I managed to do it with some helpful posts here on XDA.
To my surprise, there was no waiting time to unlock it – even though everyone else seemed to have to wait for 160 or 360 hours. Even very recent reddit posts (just 2-7 days old when I tried to unlock my phone) mentioned that they had to wait.
It's my first Xiaomi phone and I created a Mi account with the phone to unlock it.
Does anyone know what could've caused this? I certainly won't complain, just wondering if I possibly have a refurbished phone or something like that.
I too bought a Mi8 and when I unlocked it was expecting a waiting period as I have read but instead it unlocked instantly. What I think is the stores bought a Chinese model cause they're cheaper, unlocked the bootloader, flashed Global ROM, re-locked and sold.

It is not possible to install global ROM on Chinese version and relock bootloader. You will hard brick your phone in that case. The same with Chinese rom on global version. Bootloader must be unlock to do that.

Question How to prepare to sell a CN version Mi 11 Ultra

I unlocked the bootloader and currently have the EU firmware on my phone. How do I ensure my Mi account is not associated with the phone anymore or the unlocked bootloader? Is it best to reinstall the CN version and lock the bootloader again before I sell it? TIA!
Going to settings/MiAccount and signing out. After this, perform factory reset. That should suffice.
Thanks. Wasn't sure if somehow it would remain attached to the account used to unlock it.

Might be tricky if the next guy wants to unlock it with a new mi account but I wouldn't worry about it, just put it on eBay or something!

Question T-Mobile 10 Pro BL unlocking

I just got the OP 10 Pro for my girl and I and I'm having some difficulty attempting to unlock the bootloader. Looks like it'll require an unlock token (bin) from OP like the previous models however on my OP 9 I didn't request an unlock token, I think maybe I flashed the global fw with MSM? I know this is a fairly new device and development is limited, but is there anything available at this time to magisk root my device? I still have my old rooted device for 2 weeks grace period before I have to return it for the trade-in.

OEM unlock is not greyed out and is enabled.

"FAILED (remote: 'Please flash unlock token first.')"
That's why I'm asking for additional help. OP hasn't updated their unlock site yet to request a token

With the T-Mobile variant you need the unlock.bin to unlock bootloader. OnePlus will eventually update their website, hopefully soon (I've already emailed their support to add it, doubt that will help though). The only other way would be using exploits which haven't been released yet. The good news is once OnePlus updates their site, you can easily request you're unlock.bin and once you get it via email it's super easy to unlock the bootloader.
Sounds like it's like their previous phones subsidized through TMO. Need to pop in a fastboot command on your phone, which will give you a string of code. Copy paste that code on Oneplus' web site once it's updated. From there, you'll need to wait 7 days almost to the minute before the page will display your unlock token, which will be in a .bin format. Fastboot flash that. Of course that'll wipe your phone completely, but your bootloader will be unlocked.

Yes, exactly same as previous T-Mobile OnePlus phones, except there's no need to be sim unlocked to enable oem unlocking on the 10 pro (pretty sure that was by mistake on OnePlus fault).

Wow. Really? So we don't have to make up an extravagant overseas-travel story to get T-mo to unlock? Niiiice.
Have said before, just avoid the US T-Mobile variant, unlocking is just the first of many issues if you're going down the unlocking/rooting path.
If it's your only way of getting the 10 pro then fair enough, but if it's not then choose the other path...whatever it is it has to be better.

Through T-Mobile was my only option but I can't say I had many issues with my OnePlus 9 TMO variant once it was unlocked and rooted.

Fair enough.
I personally live in the UK, so don't have any of these problems, but I've seen issues with people who've flashed a custom ROM and ended up without signal, data, texts, even WiFi, Devs tend not to get involved when asked what the problem may be. They end up frustrated and alone.
Couple that with waiting for 10 days to unlock it, I would stick with "if you have an alternative then go with that".
Whatever way you slice it it's a sub par experience compared to other options.
But hey if you're cool with it then that's your journey
Got my 10 pro unlocked on day one. One plus's site still doesn't support the 10 pro. So no unlock tokens for us yet.

Same, unlocked mine immediately.
The more people buy the T-Mobile version the more they'll keep doing it.
It's a shame that companies still do crap like this.

I got mine unlocked immediately too, twice. First device had to be exchanged due to being defective. I explained I needed the unlock for development reasons which requires the bootloader to be unlocked and I've been with them for 3 years so they didn't hesitate to issue the unlock.

I don't have a T-Mobile..I'm in the UK...I've bought a locked down device before. Never again, not when there's an alternative
For what it's worth, I just chatted with OnePlus and was told it would take 30-45 days for the unlock token page to be updated with the 10 Pro.
I strongly suspect this was little more than a guess, but I figured I'd relay it just in case.

LoL, it depends on what T-Mobile tech admin you talk too....
T-mobile just msgd me on Twitter and said they 'unlocked' my phone. Do I still need the payload.bin file to unlock bootloader?

Yes that's only a network unlock which is a requirement to be eligible for OnePlus bootloader unlock
