Hi,
I have installed twrp recovery on my phone (Moto titan). When I restart using power + vol down button I get a bootloader option which includes Normal startup , recovery , factory etc..
Selecting recovery from the bootloader options takes me to a blank screen and not into twrp recovery.
The only way I can manage to enter twrp recovery is by using "adb reboot recovery."
Any suggestion on how I can enter my twrp recovery directly using my phone key instead of adb.
+1 for me
Chances are you might have done something wrong while installing TWRP.
Try installing it again!
Hope it works. If it doesn't, reply!
Cheers!

Hi I am trying to work through the process of rooting my HTC One.
I have some experience with android as I've rooted three different phones now, the One is the only one giving me trouble :/
So I got the bootloader unlocked via the HTC Dev method, and now I'm trying to get recovery to work. I've flashed CWM, CWMT, and TWRP, and no matter which I try I can't boot into recovery via "adb reboot recovery" or via the HBOOT menu. When I try the phone just goes through a regular reboot. I can't use ROM Manager to do it either naturally since I don't have root yet (need recovery to install SuperSU).
However ROM Manager does show I have CWM and TWRP installed (both? weird) so I tried to start over by doing "fastboot erase recovery" but it says
FAILED: (remote: not allowed)
I tried "fastboot erase cache" before and after flashing a recovery and nothing at all changes.
Any ideas? Could I have missed something really simple and stupid? I'm pulling all my hair out trying to figure this out.
I heard some people got it to work by flashing the recovery to the boot partition, but until I get assurance that isn't a terrible horrible idea (like it seems) I don't want to try that.
EDIT: yes, the "fast boot" option in the power menu is already disabled.
I had the same issue. Solved it by disabling the fast boot option within the OS. Under power options.
Worth a shot.

Thanks for the reply but that option is already disabled
I was facing the same problem, however, what I did was turn on fast boot under settings right after I flashed the recovery.
Then, I rebooted back into the bootloader and I now had ***TAMPERED*** at the top of my screen. I afterwards selected reboot into recovery and bam, I now had TWRP on my phone.

Just tried that, didn't work
Also why would you have TAMPERED at the top? Did you change anything else to get that like flash a different HBOOT or fastboot or something?
I'm about to throw this thing out the window -___-
SOLVED
Hallelujah, I got it!
I did nothing differently, but eventually it worked...very weird, but at least I got it! The final iteration to get it working was this:
1. Turn off fast boot option in power menu
2. Boot into bootloader via power menu, then power + vol down
3. go into fastboot
4. from a cmd window, fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
5. fastboot erase cache
6. from the menu, boot into recovery
7. phone boots to the OS instead of recovery
8. boot back into the bootloader via power menu, power + vol down
9. TAMPERED shows up, boot into recovery and it works!
note that i never used adb reboot recovery or adb reboot bootloader, idk if that matters, but I did everything from the phone.
thanks for all your help!
For what it's worth, I use ROM Toolbox's Reboot to recovery option and it works. Though I can see where you'd need to boot to recovery from startup.

Thank you very much dear sir/ma'am.
This worked like a charm where nothing else had worked before!
Hi, as the title says, i can't boot to twrp when the phone is powered off. It will ignore what i push and just boot into cyanogenmod.
It used to work at some point, also i can get to twrp if i restart via the twrp app.
I should probably just reflash it?
If I'd somehow lock me from the os while experimenting, i could still run twrp via fastboot in ?
kind regards!

Try booting into download mode and boot into TWRP/CWM instead of installing
The best solution (valid for me with the same problem):
Download the TWRP-3.0.2 recovery, from https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...ecovery-twrp-3-0-2-lenovo-a6000-plus-t3543596
Copy the TWRP-3.0.2-Lenovo-A6000x32.img to the fastboot.exe folder in your PC
Turn off your phone, combine power + vol (-) to enter fastboot
Connect your phone to the PC, wait until it recognizes it.
In the PC, run a cmd prompt, and go to the fastboot.exe folder
type " fastboot flash recovery TWRP-3.0.2-Lenovo-A6000x32.img "
type " fastboot reboot "
Now, you can run the recovery. For me, worked with power + vol (-) + vol (+).
In recovery, connect to the PC via USB and copy to the internal memory the following rom: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-a6000/development/cm11-lenovo-a6000-plus-bugs-fixed-t3163636
Do a full wipe (I did it even the data partition)
Install the rom via install
Wait a few minutes until the phone boots.
Done!

try flashify to install a custom recovery like twrp
Megala
I did it
Flash TWRP recovery for KitKat. Don't flash the latest version as it will not work on KitKat (based on my experience).
Search and look for TWRP for KitKat, flash it and you're good to go.
Cheers!

use the Download mode to install your recovery, then from the recovery, install your rom.

Hi,
I have unlocked bootloader for Redmi 4X. I want to run TWRP onetime to install magisk. When i give "fastboot boot recovery.img", it doesn't boot TWRP. I tried Volume Up+Power button to enter recovery mode. But, no luck. Please help me.
You are using wrong command. use -> adb reboot recovery and then it will boot into recovery mode.
i hope you have TWRP installed already.
if you are on MIUI then shut down your device and press volume up and power button.
next you'll be directed to menu, tap on recovery (options maybe in chinese language but do not worry recovery is written in english language) tap on it.
you'll see two options to choose from, choose blue one and it'll boot in recovery mode.
if you are using custom ROM then shut down your device and press and hold all three buttons together (volume up + volume down + power button) your device will boot into recovery mode.

I have a Verizon Tab S2 sm-t817v. I have successfully flash TWRP to it via Odin probably 20 times. Problem is i have a sticky vol up key. So when the tablet reboots it doesn't detect the keypress, it either reboots normally, or if im unlucky it boots to the 4 option recovery and erases my tablet. Is there anyway to reboot straight to bootloader to allow TWRP to install, perhaps using ADB?
Admins/Moderator move this post if its in the wrong place. Thanks.
adb reboot bootloader
