I am having a hard time deciding between the seidio Rugged or one of the otterbox cases. I am a contractor and need a protective case badly. I have had the incredible since launch. used the case/belt clip combo from verizon store...the one that doesn't cover the ends...dumb case imo. and ended up taking that off recently to just slide phone in pocket, as that case didn't protect the phone very much at all. but the best one available at the store at launch.
I ended up having to get a replacement phone, and recieved it today. I want to be able to protect this one better.
Physical damage and dust are both a problem durring work hours.
I wish I could find these new cases at a local store to compare in person.
Has anyone seen both of these types of cases?
which do you like better, and why?
I am leaning toward the seido because of the two different cases that come with it. I like to slide the phone in my pocket on weekends.
thanks,
Jon

Oh wow, your story is a direct parallel to mine! I am a mechanical contractor (HVAC/R) who also has the incredible since launch, I myself have been using the the belt clip and shell that resembles diamond plate sold by verizon, an ok case but just doesnt cut it in the trades.
A month ago I bought the Otterbox defender, while it covers the phone well and adds much better protection, the fit of the phone inside is poor, I broke the belt clip two weeks into owning it. Otterbox did replace the belt clip but the time it took was almost two weeks. Just a few days ago the little detent on the otterbox that holds the phone in the holster broke so now I'm back to square one.
Just yesterday I decided to ordered Seidio Rugged case from amazon, I never owned nor held one but I figured it would be money better spent rather than buying another otterbox. I just don't think the otterbox quality is quite there. I expect to have the new case on or around 1-06-2011 and after I get it and put it to use I will update you on it so you can make a better decision.
thanks for the response...
I have read about different peoples experiences with these different cases, and still wish I could see them in person before purchasing. I am really close to going ahead with the Seidio Rugged, and might order it today.
Jon
I'm also a contractor installing satellites and am very happy with the Seidio Rugged.
What sold me on the Seidio Rugged was the "Face In" design and the 3 layers of protection. Sure, the 3 layers adds mega thickness but doing all the "cell destructive" stuff I do, it's a very minor thing to deal with. In fact, the few times I've taken the case off, the phone felt too small and fragile.
On the second Seidio Rugged case simply because in a stupid moment just grabbed the phone and ripped it off my belt instead of taking the clip off. No idea what was thinking but needed a new clip so just got the whole thing again.
But yeah, if you use a tool belt, climb ladders, crawl under houses, or any of the crazy dirty stuff contractors do, get a Rugged.
landscape installer/maintainer here. go with the seidio. im hard on all my stuff. and i have had the rugged for 6 mo. and havent destroyed it yet. locking mech. and belt clip still work fine. and the 3 layers on the actual case is very protective.
got mine on amazon for under 40 shipped.
seidio rugged here also.. best case Ive used...
I ordered the Seidio rugged today.
looking forward to it getting it here...
My Seidio Rugged outer skeleton snapped yesterday. I wasn't applying any pressure, just taking it off and snap. So I ordered a Case-Mate Tough Case. I'm sure it will work just fine.

This happened to mine as well. Seidio is good about replacing it....no real need to buy a new case. At any rate I recommend the rugged case. I have dropped my phone more times than I would care to admit and this case has saved it a few times over. I figured my exoskeleton was weakened from all the drops...and I had the tendency to take it off and put it back on for no reason when i got bored. Also it looks bad *** in my opinion...
Well as I explained in an earlier post I have been using the Otterbox Defender and while it offers more protection than other cases I have used it simply seem to lack quality and convenience. I did order the Seidio Rugged case to give it a shot and to my suprise when I came home from work today my rugged case was delivered. I wasn't expecting it until 1-06-2011.
I have to say after getting my phone in it and set up my initial feelings are it appears to be a well designed case that offers very nice protection to the phone and actually adds less bulk than the otterbox. I have not used it in the field yet but I will update after a day or two in the field. But I must say at this moment I am very pleased with my decision on the Rugged case and am kicking myself in the but for not making it my first my first choice.
received the Rugged case today....
the case was in the mailbox today.
I am impressed with the case. and will feel a lot better about the protection for my Incredible phone when on the job site. When all of the case components are on the phone, it definitely adds quite a bit of bulk. That will be something for me to get use to, for sure. But, I feel that it will not be a problem.
I can totally understand how some people have accidently torn the rubber access piece off that covers the micro usb port. I hope I don't tear it off, but realistically feel that it is just a matter of time, as it is a very small piece of rubber that keeps it attached...
I really like the fact that the innocase II is the base layer. I expect that it will be my weekend case.
I thought about not applying the screen protector, due to the problems i have had in the past applying screen protectors (ie...bubbles that won't go away, dust particles, etc.)...but, decided to try it. Well, it applied better than I ever could have hoped for. I started by aligning it at the top around the ear speaker, and just smoothed it out as I let it apply itself to the screen. It fits well for the most part, but could have been just a hair longer from top to bottom.
I am excited to have this case. I only wish I had not waited this long to make myself spend the money on it.
Hopefully i will be this happy with it in the coming days and weeks...

I tore the rubber camera protector flap off my rugged maybe 2 months ago now, I contacted Seidio and they had a replacement outer rubber to me within a week. They are good about replacements.
(Note I was also only a week outside of the warranty period)
Seidio Rugged is a Wonderful Case
I have had the Seidio Rugged case for about two weeks now and it's wonderful! I don't find myself using the holster much, only when I go on a run do I attach it to an armband and slip the phone in the case so I can track my runs with Cardio Trainer.
I really like the feel of the case. It makes me feel like I'm holding a more powerful phone in my hands, whereas without the case, I feel like it's just too light to perform as well as it does. lol. However, size doesn't matter as some say, and is always a personal preference.
I would definitely say get the case if you want more protection and are willing to make the phone a few millimeters thicker. I definitely worry less about my phone breaking now. My only gripe is the camera cover tends not to stay pinned back in the little restraint Seidio made for it. Beyond that, wonderful case all around and I'd recommend getting it.

Bloody hell!!!!
Have had this case for months and have FOUGHT that damn flap every time!! Never even noticed that little hole.... Use the flash light app every day almost to see behind peoples TV's and audio equipment and have always had to hold the flap down....
Thank you VERY MUCH for your post. Feel like an idiot, but happy to know it now.
As a construction worker, I was about to buy an Otterbox before stumbling upon this thread. Did some research, looked at a few videos, and I think I'm gonna settle for the Seidio now. Either way, both look like great cases and I couldn't go wrong with either. The Seidio on the other hand converts to a normal case when not on the job site, so that's where it wins IMO. Also, the belt clip looks better designed. Thanks XDA! You guys rule!
Cannot say I have ANY complaints about the rugged. Think about it this way: when you need it protected, you have 3 layers + a holster. If you want simple, but cased, you got the Innocase II underneath which still can hold its own as a case not to mention that it looks nice and slim also. The thing that sold me though was the holster. It comes with a lock switch which means that this baby aint never falling off. I can remove, unlock, lock, attach the phone all with my index and thumb. So easy, yet so secure.
However, I did have one gripe about this phone, and that was the covers for the USB port and the Headphone jack. It has no notches to pull out easily and it tends to get lost in the groove that it fits in to. At first, I was extremely aggravated that this happened and was worried I would ruin the rubber. BUT I found that when I pinch the sides of the case (which I totally forgot was rubber), the flaps would pop out like nothing.
So yes, the one thing that would have held me back was solved, and I am happy to report that this thing is a beast. Of course if you don't want a big thing to lug around, then don't get this, but I gotta say... it feels like a tank, and I feel secure taking this thing everywhere with me now. =D
I've had the rugged for quite a while...just to have it really. Being a social worker doesn't really but my dinc at risk. I do enjoy the feel of having it in the case when I do though, although it seems that sometimes the holster seems to catch the rubber a bit more than I'd like. I'm glad to see it seems to be a step above the otterbox.
i'm been using the ottorbox commuter and i've had no problem, i love it cause its not as bulky as other cases.
Ya definitely going with the seidio rugged case setup. I can do without the belt clip attachment though. I can see that breaking off within a week at work with me. But the rest of the case(s) are just what I'm looking for.
Thanks for the thoughts, I am in the same boat as you guys.
Hello everyone,
Ive been looking through this accessory thread ever since I owned my note 2 trying desperately to get rid of the crappy Body Glove case I was "borrowing" from Tmobile. Well, my three other cases came today, and after testing them all, I will tell you what I settled with.
First things first:
The Body Glove: I don't have any pictures of this crappy case, but you don't need any. Apparently I found out today after returning my version of the BG that they have OTHER styles which are far superior then the one that I had. But probably still pretty bad. This is the beginners case that you settle on if you have no idea how to surf the WWW. Obviously if you are reading this, you would never settle for this case, especially at the outrageous $30+ price tag.
Now for the 3 puppies that arrived today. I purchased these all on amazon.com.
The Seidio Active Case:
My initial thoughts are that this would be the case I would be settling with, especially after the youtube reviews... But after putting it on, and upon comparison, I realized that this case offers minimal protection as far as a drop would be concerned. It feels extremely cheap with the white plastic, and I had no idea that this is what I was purchasing. Not only that, but it has the same issue as the body glove - Slippery bastard. Sure the sides are rubber, but its an extremely soft smooth rubber that doesnt "Stick" if you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty nice looking case, and I like the kickstand...but it's not for me. They also have other very vivid colors. As far as price goes, this case is a rip off at $30.35. Almost as bad as the body glove, but slightly cheaper and prettier.
The Ballistics Case:
This is the case that I read reviews about and heard is supposed to offer some of the best protection outside of Otterbox Defender case. Not to mention it looks good. Well, I opened this bad boy up, and noticed a few things right away. The rubber shell is not snug at all. When you snap on the plastic, it gets a little more snug, but I guarantee this case will fall apart everytime you drop your phone. This already had me worried. Another issue is the damn sides of the case. ITS CHEAP 100% SLIP-GUARANTEE Plastic! Damnit. I had really high hopes for this case.
If this doesn't already kill all your hopes and dreams, it makes your phone much more gargantuan. However, I digress, when it comes to drop protection, even though you'll be picking up the two pieces of your case + your phone, I would feel confident that the majority of impact from the initial drop would be absorbed into this case, before it falls apart. Price to protection value is decent at $23 dollars. Note that this case is cheaper now at $19 which increases the appeal of this case if you have a decent grip of your phone at all times.
The final case is the Boxwave OA3 Resolute:
So check this out, I only found this case on accident thanks to Slickdeals.net. I read reviews about boxwave's case for other phones such as the SIII, and I was prepared to be disappointed with this case. But alas, none of those previous problems exist and ironically, I am keeping this case even though its MUCH cheaper than all the other cases I've tried. This case almost looks identical in design to the Ballistics, which is what I think the company was going for. However, it is only one piece of hardened rubber. It fits very snug, and feels great in the hand. It doesn't make the phone as huge as the ballistics case, and I still feel confident that this case will offer a decent amount of drop protection. Another bonus is that it has a kickstand... but don't count on it for very long, because its the cheapest feeling kickstand you'll probably ever see in your life. I can almost bet money that it'll break with regular usage. So enjoy it while it lasts. You definitely cannot beat this case for the price as it was only $10.00 total. Not to mention its all black, no cheap looking white plastic.
I have attached all the photos I took. Sorry I don't have photos of the case on the phone, as I had taken the pictures with the note 2
Hope you found this post helpful.

Thanks for for the pictures. I personally am still waiting on the seidio convert case for the extended battery, I enjoyed the one I had on my thunderbolt. The case I have on my note 2 is the $12 (now $8.95) rugged case from ebay. The case uses the same style of synthetic rubber that the seido case uses and prevents me from dropping the phone. What are you going to do with those left over cases?
Good review, and I do agree with you on every point. While waiting for my UAG case, I'm using right now $7 ebay case (first one in my review link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36730711&highlight=rugged+dual+layer#post36730711) - which is a copy of Seidio Active and also similar to Otterbox Commuter. Commuter has a higher quality inner rubber lining, without a doubt. But Active is exactly the same stuff, or I should say that ebay cheap knockoff is exactly the same design and quality as Active
Btw, the Boxwave one you can get from ebay shipped for about $7. Its not their original design, just a generic ebay case they purchase in bulk from China and sell conveniently for local us shippment.
Thanks for the compliments. I am returning the other cases to amazon for free since I said that they are faulty, lol.
Useful review but I disagree on the ballistics case after going through other reviews and more than enough websites I found the ballistics case was the indeed the case which had the protection. The box said 8-9ft drop so I tested it with a leap faith and the case phone stayed together with no damage and didn't come apart. Also you say slippery wrong again I can apply minimum pressure using my little finger and thumb dry and wet with no slippage. The case is made from decent materials not the stuff you would get from a 5 dollar case which I have been through several. The case offers better screen protection from laying flat on a surface screen down than any case with the added corner protection. The back is non slip also and makes good resting on a slanted surface say a car roof, bonnet or dash board. And with a year warrantee you can't get far wrong. In general its makes the whole overall grip better and nice to the touch. Feels very manly to and with a simplistic look. With the plastic support the case holds firmly all round the note. Down side only two colours black and white, little flimsy top and bottom of screen. Price is fair for the case was 22.99 off eBay stores, cheaper if you get a deal on it.
Amazon gives a 4.5/5 overall for 33 reviews that's pretty good like.

I want to get me another protective case, cover for my sgs note 2 N7100. Currently i am using samsungs protective Cover+ and it's a bit to smooth, slippery when i am holding it and it only protects my phone from scratches
I have the tough case from case mate on my sgs 3 and i think i looks big compared to how small a sgs 3 is, especially compared to my current phone a note 2 which is bigger then a sgs 3. I would like to hear your opinions on how good the tough case for a note 2 N7100 is and if theres any cheaper alternatives i can get with free or at a resonable shipping to denmark (DealExtreme is so slow, more then 14 days i have waited for 2 cheap screen protectors for my note 2 with free shipping, so i don't wont to wait that long)
Multi-page review thread of Tough Case for GN2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2104132&highlight=tough+case
Just IMHO, UAG and Tough Case are at the top of my case list for all around stylish with adequate protection and minimum bulk.

The demand for it so overwhelming they ran out of stock. So whoever placed an order last month will be getting their case next week (you should check on the same page, someone already received it). Yeah, so they are out of stock but I'm sure it will be back soon. Just have to wait. Not sure what do you mean about reviews. There is only one post with someone who already received it on Sat and absolutely loves it. Wait till next week when you going to see a lot more detailed reviews in this forum.

My wife and I each have one of these in different colors: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Grey-...sung-Galaxy-Note-II-2-Accessory-/190761261678
Very durable, and from what I can tell, at least as high quality as the name brands, but for far less money. I highly recommend it.

Reviews of what? Nobody HAS it yet. People review a picture, and either say they "like it" or "hate it". Nobody has reviewed the actual product yet to confirm the quality and the fitment, which I'm sure not going to let us down.
I handled a number of Note 2 cases, read/watched a lot of reviews from actual note 2 users (not those "everything is great" reviews on YT because they want extra clicks). What I found, all these cheap ebay cases are OK as a temp solution, but the material is inferior and will stretch after awhile (especially those dual layer with silicon inner shell). Otterbox Defender is a massive brick with a flexing screen protector and people complaining about echo, Commuter has a slippery back, Seidio Active inner silicon will stretch and get loose at the top and the bottom after awhile (pulling away), Surface is pain in the arse with two interlocking halves, Ballistic corners are over exaggerated and bulky, Trident Aegis is nice but the back doesn't look even, even Beyond Cell Tri-Shield got some negative reviews with sub par material and inner silicon shell pulling away at the top/bottom, flip cases are nice to protect screen but not the whole phone protection and pain in the arse when you need to take a picture and/or constantly flip it open when you need to use the phone. Also, keep in mind if you want to use car mount, some of these cases will not fit in, etc. Again, this is just my personal opinion, everybody entitled to one and some will disagree with me. I'm looking for a case that you can lie down evenly on the back (without any wobble) or the front (thus also having a decent lip protection), power/volume buttons not too hard or too soft, case is not too bulky and slides in/out of the jeans pocket without picking up too much lint, fits in general grip car mounts, has a decent drop protection, easy to take phone out of the case and at the same time has a snug fit with no edges pulling away or loosing up after awhile, and with a unique design Is that too much to ask? lol!!! Hoping UAG case will be able to meet all these requirements, and Case-Mate Tough Case will be my back up case!

This is the only ebay case I haven't tried This one might actually work because it has plastic outer shell covering top/bottom. In mine temporary case I'm using right now (the first one in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36730711&postcount=714) it was great for about a month or two, but now the inner silicon at the bottom is pulling away and dust gets inside. Sorry man if English is not your first language (I wasn't born in US either ), but these are NOT ACTUAL reviews of the product. The product just started to ship a few days ago. ALL of those reviews are from people who DO NOT have the case yet. They just looked at the picture and making a comment if they like the picture or do not like the picture. Did you read those reviews? Don't look at # of stars, those are people IMPRESSIONS of what they think about the product based on the picture on UAG site.
Do you want to read actual review of the product UAG already released? Go to Amazon and search for UAG Galaxy S3. You will find 933 reviews with an average rating of 4.75 stars. That is a reason why this case is so hyped up. People expect it to be as good as S3 case. The comments on Note 2 page of UAG are NOT reviews, those are comments about people either saying "looks cool" or "why did you change the design from S3 version". Plus, you get a few negative comments from people who are waiting for their case and still haven't received it yet. Those are comments with "effen" references lol!!!

I just was referring to the delivering problems they have, like people is saying they have ordered it and it took a long time before they started to ship it.
Watched this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySorsozRZxQ and the sgs 3 version looks different then the note 2 version (why? only because of the size difference?), how is the grip? the 2'nd custom review i so of the sgs 3 version thought it was a bit slippery, dont like the corners so much on the note 2 version, find them a bit to big, bulky.
When is it possible to buy one and is the price the same as the tough case (40 $) that i know has a good grip. Mabye i have missed something (if i did miss something i will read it again ), but why the UAG before the tough case?
I appreciate your opinions and i'd like to hear more opinions on a good case, cover for my note 2, i just don't want to buy the tough case if theres one that much better although i have the feeling that the tough case i one of the best, top of the line.
There was a coupon "friends50" that you could use with Tough Case to buy it for $20. You can't use it on-line anymore, but if you can contact them (probably calling directly is not an option for you?) maybe they can honor it?
Again, just my personal opinion since I have been "studying" these cases for the last couple of months I put UAG before Touch Case because of its lighter 1-piece design and a more modern urban look (I like the reversible orange/black grill on white Navigator for my white GN2), versus Tough Case offering blue/grey 2-piece design. I'm getting both of them to have my own hands'on experience. I know everybody raves about Tough Case, but I have to see how that inner bumper feels. So far I didn't like any designs with inner silicon cases, but read Tough Case inner bumper is more like TPU sturdy. Will see... Yes, I'm a little bit biased toward UAG, but it can all change once I have both in my hands and compare one to the other.

Waiting for my UAG and Tough Case to arrive next week!!!

I've only had mine a month, but it looks exactly how it did when it was new. If you're looking to try others out, put this one on your list. I actually just ordered another in blue. My wife got a dark purple one, and it's so stunning, it makes my black one look boring and sad. The dark blue seems to have recently hit ebay, and I found it for $6.59 shipped. I hope it looks as nice as the purple.

great case but you can get it cheaper, I've seen that one and similar ones on ebay/amazon for close to half that price
tappity tap tapped from my Eclipsed Note 2
I think there are real big problems related to the lack of good accessories for S7 edge.
Facts:
- The best OEM protective cover (at least in my opinion) – the Leather Cover is nowhere to be found, only in pictures; there are several weeks of estimated delay for this product all over the world!
- The slim Clear Cover (transparent back cover) is mediocre designed, you should test them carefully before buying! Margins are awfully finished (very rough), the case comes already with scrathes on the transparent inner part (just like the case of S6 edge) and the lateral support (added also for lateral protection, a new redesign vs the one for S6 Edge/ Edge+) is very shaky, making the use of this case an absolute awful experience! At this price and with such high expectations, this is outrageos
- For the non-OEM cases: many have really big problems of proper compatibility and there must be 2 alternative reasons for this:
Samsung has made a “last minute” redesign (eg: on top, a possible switch between the extra microphone hole vs the sim tray position)
Samsung has rushed things too much and the non-OEM suppliers for accessories have failed this rythm... Even SPIGEN has big problems, there are many clear rumors that they have recalled all their accessories for the S7 Edge delivered to the market (you can start by checking amazon USA – there is no Spigen product for S7 edge!). The biggest problem: the clasic Neo Hybrid case, where the lateral polycarbonate frame was way too loose... Also the Rugged Armor, way too loose.... you should check reviews and facts including here on the forum!
- I must add that it-s a huge dissapointment regarding the non-existence of the Glossy Cover that was available for S6 Edge+, what a pity! And that design was clearly much much better and what a beautiful slim-line!
What do you think? What have you experienced?
I agree with your points on the Samsung cases. I think they could have been better. I have the Clear View and whilst it's an adequate case, it feels very loose. The front flap doesn't magnetically lock in place which I thought it really should. It's UI feature hasn't been implemented well.
I disagree with the Spigen comments. I have two Spigen cases and have had no issues with misalignment or them being too loose. In fact quite the opposite. I have two Spigen cases and one more on order. The two that I have in hand are:
Slim Armor Air
Neo Hybrid Crystal - Gunmetal
Both are seriously tight fits. The latter being tighter then the former. Whether the issues you mention are limited to a particular market, I don't know. But certainly Amazon UK still have all S7E products from Spigen.
I've also got the Spigen Thin Fit on order from Amazon.

The OP isn't wrong about Spigen's cases having fitment issues; take a look at my case OP if you want to see pictures of what he's referring to. On the other hand I disagree with why they're out of stock everywhere. This is speculation: Spigen likely had to revise one thing or another hence why they had a sale to clear inventory. Spigen's done this before, so it would not be surprising to see it happen again. I've seen then revise cases randomly, and then not tell anyone that they changed the case design. Spigen had never recalled a case, but I think it's certainly plausible they're revising the line up. I know my screen protectors from them had issues, and the new ones won't ship until the end of the month (maybe the cases will too). Only time can tell at this point, so there's no reason to really speculate further.
Ordered 2 spigen ultra hybrid's on amazon - 1 was loose on the sides not gripping phone and the other is slowly becoming loose.
Ordered 2 spigen neo hybrid cases on ebay. Silver has the loose PC frame the gold seems OK for now.
I will be contacting Spigen to see about replacements or if there are known fitment issues and if they are working on fixing them. I've had mostly spigen cases in the past with 0 issues. Hopefully this gets fixed.

I'm not saying the OP or you are wrong, I'm just saying my experience of the cases has been different. Maybe I've just been lucky.
I have a clear spigen and the plastic screen protector is being pushed off. There qare no glqa1ss ones available. And the battery cases not available

I'm definitely bummed that you can't get the Samsung leather case they show off on their websites so prominently. I love leather and always thought the Apple leather cases for iPhones felt good and had a nice minimalist look to them, so I was exciting to see Samsung rip that idea off. But since they weren't available at launch, I already have a case now and will question the worth of me buying another one if and when they come out.
I had the clear view cover and returned it mostly because of the fact it disables always on display. Instead i bought the keyboard case from samsung. So far i am happy with it. I always had problems while typing on the touchscreen and with the keyboard its really cool to type. Response on buttonpress could be better specially at the edges (my 'p' gives really bad resonse) and sometimes it acts crazy and the software keyboard or google voice thing is popping up. Also always on display does not work while keyboard is attached at front, but thats ok. The feeling of the case is really nice. A soft rubbered but not to rubby finish. I like it

Just the leather one? Not the LED leather one? It's weird because in the UK on the 8th when the S7E was released in the Carphone Warehouse I went in to they had just the Leather case by Samsung not the LED one. Now though, I see the LED leather case everywhere online etc. but rarely see the just leather one anywhere now!

Y'know that's weird. Sometimes 'P' on my touchscreen keyboard can give a bad response. Wonder if this is a common software issue...
I'm a big fan of the Clear Cover. No problems whatsoever and love the corners.
I've had my Spigen Ultra Hybrid crystal clear (ordered from Amazon) on my S7 Edge since March 5th (when the case arrived) and it was a perfect fit. Yesterday I took the case off (my first time removing it) to install my Skinomi screen protector. I put my Spigen case back on this morning and the case went on with the same feel as when I first got it.
All of the official cases are a failure, Samsung's and Apple's equally. I was looking forward to the release of the ARA phone but Google backed down. They released the Pixel which is just an improvement of the other competitor designs. There's nothing new and I am really disappointed in the whole industry. And now the poor excuse of an "official case" for their products. There are so many possibilities for making great cases for the phones. It is like the best car brand starts producing official ****ty tires for their cars. No offense they can invest and make great tires but they don't give a f**k.
On the other hand, I admire small companies that struggle to make great products like I-blades, Nexpaq and partially Otterbox that can continue and improve the modularity paradigm. Google realized that modular phone is a dead end. But they could join projects and release at least modular case for the Pixel.
This is my review for the Armadillotek Vanguard case for the Note 20 Ultra. This review will also apply to the Note 20 Vanguard, as they are basically the same case. Note I received a free review unit direct from Armadillo; however, there were no requirements for a positive review. The opinions here are my own.
Summary: An extremely high quality case that looks great, offers rugged protection, with a couple compromises. At this price point, you would have difficulty finding a better quality case. Even at higher price points, Armadillotek hold their own against the competition.
I will preface this review by saying I don't typically use rugged cases. I always end up buying one for those times when I feel I may need some extra protection, but I usually use slimmer cases for scratch protection every day.
But for Note 20 Ultra and the Note 10+ last year, Armadillotek has been my go-to rugged case for the times I did want that extra reassurance, and here is why:
The Vanguard is a high quality case at almost any price point, buy for $19, it's a surprisingly high quality case. The first thing I noticed was how smoothly the hard rubber sides blend into the protective back plastic plate. There's no noticable sprue marks or mold lines. No rough edges, or anything that would suggest this was a cheaply made case.
The fit is superb, and the corners all have an air space to act as a cushion during drops. The two piece design securely holds the phone, with no worries at all about it coming off. It can be a little difficult to install and remove, but I'll trade that for a secure fir any day.
The case covers the sides well, and offers a lip around the screen to keep it off the ground when placed face down. And surprisingly, it's compatible with many different brands and styles of screen protector for that added protection.*
The kickstand on the back is solid and clicks into place very well. The only issue is it can be a little difficult to pry up, but again, those tight tolerances seem to be a sign of quality and tight fit.
The only real complaint I have about this case is the large opening for the S-Pen. It's a bit of a double edged sword. It's nice to be able to easily retrieve the S-Pen; however, this also leaves a large gap in protection on this corner.
The other complaint is the case interferes with wireless charging and wireless power share.
Neither one of those are really the fault of Armadillotek, and are more or less necessity of the case. It needs to be somewhat thick to offer the military grade protection. And as long as Samsung continues to out the S-Pen in the corner, that corner will always be exposed and vulnerable by cases.
Interesting side note, I also reviewed a similar ruggedized case by another manufacturer. The Schnaul Titan for the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. I say similar, because they are almost identical, minus.a few minor aesthetic design choices. But they are shaped identically and even have the same exact inner front frame as part of the two piece case design. The wording and font style on some stickers is the same on both cases.
The website for both companies is nearly identical in design and aesthetic choices, down to the same yellow themed coloring and a stylized sillouette of their mascot (armadillo and a snail).
Both cases arrived with a photocopy of a handwritten letter, purported to be from someone born and raised in Texas; and each offers gratitude for your purchase and a brief backstory to the company. It's a nice touch, and the letters are done very well; however, careful reading detects the author's first language is not English. There's subtle nuances in the author's dialect that tells me they were not born and raised in Texas, or in the US. And there's close similarities in the word choices and phrases in the letters from both companies, which leads me to believe they were written by the same person.
Now, none of that takes away from the quality of the case, or the very responsive customer service. And the cases both shipped from Texas (both from the same city, but different address), so I can assume they are US-based. I just found the similarities very odd, and I would not be surprised at all to discover if Armadillotek and Schail are both just US fronts for the same oversead manufacturer.
In conclusion, I can HIGHLY recommend this case, if you're looking for a ruggedized case. You get the same quality as that other animal that comes in a Box, but at least than half the price.

Excellent review
That type of two layered protection is excellent.
Reminds me of the Bolt case except the spen is better protected.
Customers with fat clumsy fingers complain if there isn't a huge opening:laugh:
I've noticed my 10+ wuvs to corner hit if dropped and the spen corner is it's favorite corner to land on... I replaced one case already over concerns of possible fatigue after a couple repeat hits there.

Its basically a copy and paste from my Amazon review, which I don't think is up yet. It usually takes Amazon a day or so to approve them.
Didn't see any reason to rewrite it for here.

My SPen would almost always come loose and go flying when I dropped my Note 10+. I think it did the same with my Note 9.
Not that I dropped them all the time, but like at the gym, they would slide off the bench and make a soft 18 inch landing. But sure enough, that SPen would sometimes shoot out like a missile, LOL.

The 10+ is notorious for that.
Yeah it doesn't have to be a huge impact:laugh:
I learned to look before I leaped to avoid accidentally stepping on it after a drop or leave it behind.
I go for months sometimes without dropping it but without a good case it be KIA by now.
The spen corner is the weak spot in many cases.
Is this the brand the legendary @zedomax threw off his two story roof ?
Bought one (Armadillo) from Amazon.com.
Fits perfect on the left and right side, but there is to much play in the case lengthwise and it can be even heard when holding the phone and shaking it slightly (and no this noise isn't coming from th camera objectives).
You can easily slide it with your thumb up and down in the case.
If there comes dust in the case this play will definitely scratch the sides of the phone.
Not sure if i keep it.

I'm wondering the same. They're releasing them for many of the newer phones and they're in my radar for a new case. I change cases almost as often as I change my socks.
