Can root maybe obtained like with Urbane 2 LTE? - LG Watch Sport

Can we not get root with this and then somehow fix our apn settings manually?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-urbane-2/how-to/root-twrp-squashfs-3-1-1-lg-urbane-2nd-t3661569
On second thoughts. If we can generate an OTA file with TWRP in it wand push it to the correct folder. Will the phone not think its being update the normal way and we can have twrp then maybe run a script through that to oem unlock it somehow?

cwm touch

So iam running bo 2.0.1 with cwm 5.5.0.4. Tried to update to cwm 6 touch by replacing cwm image in pretty much all the aio's.. it'll either say it pushed and still reboot into old cwm or I'll get permission denied on /data/local/temp/sh and mmcblk14 even after giving them all read write and execute permission. Can someone help me get this on my revo? Maybe a guide to do it with adb? It would be much appreciated..... sorry if this is posted in wrong section... I wasn't sure where it would be seen by the dev 's who can help
All I had to do was use this tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630821
After you unzip that file, download the CWM 6.0.0.0 img file and rename it cwmrecovery.img and replace the one in /files. Then run the Run Me.bat and select option 2 - it says Root and CWM 5.5.0.4, but since you replaced the img file it'll push the one you want. Make sure your phone is in Internet Connection more and turn on USB Debugging. I hope that works!

The same exact way I've done it. Numerous times with no success. It said it pushed but reboot back into 5.5.0.4
Anyone else have this problem? How can I achieve this with adb or file explorer... the method posted just isn't pushing the image...
To do it from within the phone... (Insert the usual disclaimers here about messing your phone up here. It's all you from here on out)
You can open up the .bat batch file of one of the rooting tools that have CWM install scripting.
Copy the commands they perform in preparation for the procedure. Remove adb shell and push from the commands as you will be doing this from inside the phone, not via adb. I think you might have to remove some open/close quotation marks too, unnecessary from the terminal prompt.
Rename the new CWM file to match the command prompt change the command to match the new CWM filename.
Move that file to the expected location (/local/tmp if I recall correctly).
Use app Terminal Emulator to create a terminal windows and type su and Press enter. That will get superuser access.
Then, issue the commands you took note of from the batch file.
Reboot to Recovery to test if successful.
I used this basic process to get CWM on after rooting stock ZV9 a few weeks ago. Combing through a couple different batch scripts, I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to bork my phone. The adb remount command doesn't seem to work after rooting for some reason. That seems to be the cause of adb failure to update CWM.
If you get into trouble, I can't help you much there as I'm not that advanced. Good luck.
Anyone else with tips please chime in and help the chap

Ill try it out. Thanks for the advice
Didnt work.. iam hoping that resetting back to stock and using that image from the start will work
Weird. I was expecting to hear good news since that's how I got CWM onto my phone. Good job trying!

Bionic+ ICS OTA 246+bypass Acitivation

I had everything working flawlessly until I tried to remove system apps after I rooted it. Radio Lite the ICS 246 back on the phone manuall programmed the phone since I'm on pageplus and get solid 3G on it...how the big issue I'm Facing is
The ACTIVATION screen...it says wait until your phone activated then fails. I tried the touching of the 4 corners and still wont let me pass. I can dial 611 and it goes to pageplus customer service so I know the phone it working ...I cant do the ##7764726 (##program) and change the sim stuff I can do the *#*#4636#*#* without any issues changed it over to cdma Auto PRL. Current prl that was written to the phone was the new 59292.
JUST NEED TO FIND A WAY TO GET PASS THAT NAGGING ACTIVATION SCREEN...
THANKS
You need to edit the build.prop to replace the line which was removed in ICS that enables the bypass.
The line is "ro.mot.setup wizard.enable_bypass=1" and it needs to be added at the bottom of the file in the ADDITIONAL BUILD PROPERTIES section.
You must be certain to set permissions on the file to 644 after replacing the file or the phone will not boot and you will have to flash it again.
This can be done with ADB shell as long as USB debugging is enabled and you are rooted.

[question] access /data/data without ROOT or UNLOCK bootloader

I am currently using Nexus 7 (old) with android 4.3
I want to access a folder under /data/data/(AppName)
the permission of that folder is (rwxrwx--x)
I still haven't ROOT or UNLOCKED bootloader.
I want to use ADB to get a file there and put back.
I know that I can use the adb pull and adb push to finish this job
Anyone can help me??
someone told me in android 4.3 NO NEED TO ROOT the device and I can access /data/data/
Nope, you cannot access data/data without root.

[Q] abd backup prior to system update or unlock

So, I have received my replacement phone from Google. Before I start updating the system, etc, I checked and currently I am on system 4.2.2. To avoid running into the same issues again, I want to save the system (each step of the way), but without rooting.
According to the HTC rep, there is a way to do it with adb commands, but you cannot restore the systems without rooting. I found the following webpage: http://blog.shvetsov.com/2012/09/bac...t-root-or.html
I am hoping that I can manage the following: 1) save system files that will allow for a restore, should i require it. 2) potentially create a packaged signed version of the system for those who need 4.2.2 (and i can do the same once i update to 4.3 and 4.4). 3) have the method to restore available, should i need it.
So, which of the versions of the abd command is most useful? Which is most universal to be able to restore the system? And do any create the file(s) that we had been looking for with this whole process?
I am not opposed, also, to saving in several versions/formats. I could just use some direction.
Thanks!

Hey all, I would REALLY like to save things before i start updating or changing the system! Could someone please advise? I do not want to start replacing the recovery again, and run into the same issues that i had before. Can you advise how i can do all of this with my PC (adb commands)?
Your help would surely be appreciated!!!

[Q] mounting HTC mini 2's partition

Hello,
I want to remove Vodafone's boot animation but don't want to root my device. To do that, I must either edit /system/customize/CID/VODAP**.xml or push proper VF_bootanimation.zip into /system/customize/resource. I am not able to do it neither from adb nor from adb shell - there is read-only warning or "permission denied".
Is there a way I can access this XML file, like:
a) registering on HTCDev as a developer
b) mount phone internal memory (/dev/block/mmcblk0p43) to a PC as a mounted drive while phone is switched off and then change its content (is this called 'fastboot'?)

I think you need S-OFF to edit system files. At the moment not possible

You will have to flash a custom kernel on your phone that removes the write protection. So only unlocking the bootloader and flashing the kernel is sufficient. If you haven't unlocked you bootloader yet, backup all the data from the internal memory because it gets wiped
Thanks for answers everybody. I am little bit afraid of flashing foreign ROM because it replaces phone's existing ROM and warranty might be void. What I want to do is to keep the existing ROM, and alter one XML file in the customize folder.
I would like to rather have a scenario of mounting the phone memory as 'external removable drive' to some other system. For example, couple of years ago I played around with my home router - I was able to mount my home router's memory to PC running Linux and change some tweaks in the resulting /mount directory. Can I do something similar with mini 2? What is fastboot tool from ADB suite?
Maybe there is another, easier way for eradicating ad bootanimation? Currently I see 3 options: change CID so VODAP102.xml is not triggered; post fixed VF_bootanimation.zip; or change VODAR102.xml.
I am a programmer, however I never worked with writing apps for Android. Is there a way HTCDev-enabled developer can access /customize folder? Like remounting /mmcblk0p43 with RW permission etc.
Thanks in advance and sorry for 'noobism'

I'm not talking about flash a rom, but only just a kernel. Flash the Liberty Sense kernel and then got can customise the boot animation

Will I be able to flash original kernel back?
Also, the phone will lose warranty?

If you make a backup of your rom via a custom recovery, then yes. And unfortunately unlocking the bootloader and flashing a custom kernel will void the warranty
