My VIE-L09C432 identifies as EVA now.. - Huawei P9 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi,
I am very unsure how this happened, but I think we all can agree that I f***ed up somehow.
Ive been trying to get back to stock B373 (or B370), but with no luck. NOTHING I do works. Flash manually in fastboot with extracted .imgs from Update.App, tools, or trying to get the recovery to flash the Update.APP file (stuck at 5%).
Finally I tried installing the Marshmellow Resurrection Remix, and it says it can't because my device doesn't match the 'allowed ones', and my device is EVA.
So, how the heck do I go back to VIE-L09? Like, I respect that my phone identifies as EVA now, and I support her efforts, but I got work to do
Help?

Well, looks like your efforts to fix your mobile brought you to an update.app that was made for the "regular" P9 - that's actually called EVA. As Huawei successfully pulled all ROMs from their servers it looks like you have to send your EVA in to their service centre for reassigning surgery
There might be a slight change to change things back to normal yourself with SRK-Tool.
Good luck!

if you can pull out the oeminfo, you can edit it via an hexadecimal editor and change the value EVA to VIE.

Thank you so much for answering, even tho you couldnt help Appreciate it! Nothing worse than complete silence

boot into twrp -> advanced -> File Manager -> /dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/ -> copy "oeminfo" into SD card or other folder visible by computer
then copy the copied "oeminfo" to your computer
open it with an hexadecimal editor (you can use this editor : HxD )
goto offset : 5A200 (just press ctrl+G then write 5A200 then OK) and change EVA to VIE
then goto offset 60200 and change EVA to VIE again
warning : do not change other values in oeminfo
save the changes
recopy the modified oeminfo to your phone then to /dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/
reboot

So, after hours and hours .. Im still stuck.
I've tried the above, but it doesnt fix it. I . have C432 oeminfo file, and custom.bin file. However, I have no clue as to where to put the custom.bin file. It says to place it in /data/, but there arent any custom.bin file there from before, so I'm unsure.
Im really really stuck here, for the first time ever in all my years screwing up in modding/flashing
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, and there's 0.5 Decred (DCR) for whoever gives me a tip that helps me solve this ****.

try update to your original rom with firmwarefinder (proxy methode)
if FF detect your phone as EVA you can change the model (tap to change model in the menu)

[Q] How can I remove Vodafone Logo

Hi all,
Firtstly, I´m sorry for my english language.
I would like your help to identify the file of phone operator logo and remove it.
I tested the following paths without results:
/System/media
/cust/preinstalled/public/media
How could I remove it?, perhaps would be as simple as delete the file of logo... but I can not find nor identify this file. ( I have looked for wiith Root Browser and ES File Explorer rooted)
My problem is that I would like to remove the annoying phone operator logo ( is not a animation, is only a fixed image, a picture that last about 15 seconds) always when I start the phone I can see the phone operator logo and after the bootanimation.zip of Huawei, but the bootanimation of Huawei is not a problem to me.
Could be encrypted the file or picture of Vodafone logo?
I hope your help and ideas to identify this image or logo.
My cellular is a Huawei Ascend P7 L10 with vesion B120 from Vodafone operator, I have changed to B133 and B136 too,
Regards,
If You are planning to change ROM why You want to remove logo ?
In new ROM won't this logo.

I think you may be stuck with the logo. Changing ROMs doesn't have any effect in my experience. I have a P7-L07 unlocked and unbranded phone. When I turn it on I get an image with the letters "4G" and a few coloured arcs which appears for a few seconds before the boot animation starts. Does this sound familiar? I would love to replace this image but am unable to.
I can tell you that file "oemlogo.mbn" is an image file encoded in the rgb565 format. Changing this file has no effect.
I can't find an image file of any sort in the kernel or in the boot image. So I suspect the image is stored in one of the phones partitions. I've looked but without success so I could be wrong here. Perhaps others may have some thoughts on this issue.

If you make a force update the Logo is away. The path oft the picture i dont know. Sry
Follow this path:
First-system/media delete everything except audio folder
Second-cust/ and than go in each folder one by one and everywhere where is "media" folder go inside and delete everything inside "media" folder. When you process all folders reboot your phone and ugly 4G bootlogo will be gone.

Ahh yes. Same for me too. Ugly 4G LTE logo persists. It's even there when I boot into TWRP recovery. There is a partition on the phone called "oeminfo". It's about 33Mb in size and contains data. I suspect this is where the opening logo is. I'll investigate further as it would be nice to replace the image with something else. All suggestions are welcome.

Mount it in twrp and use twrp file Explorer (advanced options)
Progress so far is of little value. The partition certainly contains an image file. It also contains something else. Possibly a binary to display the image briefly. I'll keep working on it. Out of interest however, do people have a file called "load_oemlogo" in their /system/bin folder? I don't but it's referenced in the init.rc file which is executed on startup.

Your phone needs to be rooted and you need busybox and terminal installed.
In the terminal:
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p9 of=/storage/sdcard1/oeminfo
exit
exit
It takes a while so be patient. Note that the above assumes you have an sd card installed. The "0" in mmcblk0p9 is a zero.
Then you have a large file you can play with.
Altering the oeminfo partition seems to be impossible. The device won't allow the partition to be erased nor is it possible to flash data into the partition. I tried flashing the data I had extracted previously but failed. It seems we are stuck with the splash screen. Most disappointing.

AFAIK this will [edit] NOT[/edit] unlock your bootloader [edit] but will[/edit] remove the branding junk.

I've made a small simple console utility for my P6S to insert logo into oeminfo or extract it from. I think it's gonna work for P7 and other Huawei devices too.
First, you have to copy partition from your device to PC via ADB (root required):
Code:
adb shell su -c "dd if=/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/oeminfo of=/sdcard/oeminfo"
adb pull /sdcard/oeminfo oeminfo
Check paths, they may differ in your device.
After you get oeminfo partition to your PC, insert logo in it with my utility. First parameter is your oeminfo partition, second parameter is oemlogo.mbn file or bitmap file with color depth not less than 16 bit, supported color schemes: RGB555, RGB565, RGB888, RGB8888. Bitmap resolution must match your device resolution.
Examples:
Code:
OEM_logo.exe oeminfo logo.bmp
OEM_logo.exe oeminfo oemlogo.mbn
Also, you can extract logo from oemlogo.mbn or your actual logo from oeminfo into bitmap file by adding second parameter "-e". In this case third parameter is destination bitmap file.
Examples:
Code:
OEM_logo.exe oeminfo -e logo.bmp
OEM_logo.exe oemlogo.mbn -e logo.bmp
After altering oeminfo, put it back in your device:
Code:
adb push oeminfo /sdcard/oeminfo
adb shell su -c "dd if=/sdcard/oeminfo of=/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/oeminfo"
adb shell "rm -f /sdcard/oeminfo"
Also correct to your existing paths here.
Reboot and check result.
Download: View attachment OEM_logo_1.3.1.rar
Thanks for your efforts. It looks promising. In the process of downgrading from EMUI3.0 to EMUI2.3 I managed to trash my phone completely. I've ordered a replacement. When it arrives I'll try this.
like OP I am also trying to replace ascend p7 boot logo (vodafone)
OEM_logo.exe outputs a messed up bmp with sort of an sliding block puzzle effect.
Kostyan_nsk, any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated...

Converting L09 to UL00

Hi,
I followed the instructions to convert L09 to Middle Eastern & North and South Africa version and it all worked well for me, but I'm wondering how do I convert to Chinese version? Can anyone help with some information?
Like do i just need to edit the build.prop and have the correct regions update.app file? or is something else necessary.
Thanks in advance
Gavin

So I managed to convert to Chinese version. This is how I did it.
While fresh in the memory, instructions on how to change the region+ firmware to UL00
What do you need (links in 004's original post earlier in the thread or here:
1. Firmware UL00-C433B114 (Middle East, North and South Africa)
2. The oeminfo.img program to change the locale (45.69 KB) Anti-Virus may or complain, so disable it)
3. Mounted on the phone ES Explorer (Solid or Root Explorer will not work !!!)
4. You need a copy of your existing ROM versions recovery.img. You can get this using the Huawei ROM extractor tool.
What to do:
1. Flash TWRP Recovery through Fastboot (Bootloader must be unlocked)
2..Get Root (install SuperSU.zip through TWRP), reboot.
3. Install and enable root in settings of ES Explorer and go to the folder /dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/
4. Copy oeminfo file and transfer it to your computer
5. On your computer, unpack the oeminfo.exe program from the RAR. Put your oeminfo file in the same folder.
6. Rename oeminfo in oeminfo.img
7. Run oeminfo.img.exe and type hw / meafnaf replacing dualcu / cn - click apply
8. Rename oeminfo.img back to oeminfo and copy to your mobile phone
9. Replace the original file in the phone to change (overwrite)
10. Go to the phone / system / and open the file build.prop
11. Find the line ro.build.displey.id = change your version to "=" CRR-UL00C433B000 and save changes
EDIT ?: These steps (10/11) MUST be completed or it will not allow you to update later with new regions ROM
12. Extract the new ROM file on your computer with the firmware.
13. Copy dload folder with the Update.app file and copy it to the phone's internal memory or MicroSD card
14. Flash back stock recovery from your existing ROM (use the extractor tool if needed). You can do this now or at the end before flashing but you must remove TWRP and ROOT before attempting to flash new rom.
15. On the phone go Settings - Update.
16. Select Menu - Local update
I then ensured Google Play was installed.
After doing this, flashed TWRP again and Rooted the phone, I then edited the oeminfo file using the above method, changing the attribute back to "dualcu/cn". After this I edited the build.prop to using the above method but this time I changed "ro.build.display.id=CRR-UL00C00B131".
I then removed root and flashed the original Huawei recovery, and then rebooted and went to update settings. I searched for update and a new file was found however a modified system was detected so it offered to download a full version which was the B160 build. This downloaded and then updated and now I have CRR-UL00C00B160 version
Whats the advantage of this Version?
There are more updates to the Chinese version..they are on build B160 whereas UK still on build B144.
Some other features like dual SIM should work however I haven't tested this.
Other things like build in virus scanner, permissions manager and also the ability to set the date of your mobile data plan to help keep track of data usage and allowance.
Pressure sensitive screen is also featured although not yet used in any apps but maybe it will be enabled soon by Huawei

if you have changed your localization ( the "Cxxx" part) then you won´t receive any updates. You have to manualy update via Update.APP files.
Your IMEI is linked to you Build/Localization. This way, Huawei makes sure that every phone receives the right update file. If you change one of both, you won´t receive OTA updates anymore, since the update system can´t assign the "right" update file.

You are right , u have to replace the build.prop with an original one.

[GUIDE] Flash the new update early w/o unlock bootloader

{Tools that you need}
1.A P9 lite
2.The files you want to flash (in my case L21C432B370+data files)
3.Firmware Finder
4. A brain
5.Patience
Steps:
1.Download the files
2.Launch firmware finder and start a proxy update on the same software as the downloaded packages. But after it goes to 1%, pause the update
3.Go to HwOUC/(the new folder) and paste the zips there
4.Resume the download
5.Update
6.???
7.Profit
I did this on my P9 lite and it's working.
This method is ONLY if you don't got the Nougat update and the proxy method doesn't work.
If you come here to call me a fgt or something, then don't comment here.
This is a NOOB friendly thread.
Thank you and have a nice day

Well I have done exactly what you have described but when I resume the download , the update program keeps downloading the files , erasing the ones I did copy/paste in HwOUC/folder

If the proxy method works for you, then that's great.
There are times when it works, or resumes the download (when it gets stuck on 0%)
Maybe you didn't placed the files with the correct names.

help with retarded P9

hi. iv'e been lookin in alot of threads but no luck so far. been doing about 200 dload updates without any more luck. first of all my bluetooth, nfc or nothing like that is working (the wifi is workin and the phone itself works otherwise) so i tried many times to install twpr without any luck. if i use fastboot it goes to the part where it should install the files. then it says : FAILED (remote: image verification error)
locked bootloader and guess i can't do much there now? all the pages i get send to is down. and read something about that it would be like taht for now?
i guess ive just worked myself blind now, so migh be easy, but i can't see it. so can anyone help here?

not sure. u see i sold the phone, so did a wipe on it. then it just flipped. so i went and locked for a stock rom and installed that. booted up the phone and it worked. i did not check BT and all that. so the guy gave it back to me and asked if i could fix it.. so heh can't remember what was on it
Do you have any telegram/facebook/whatsapp anything? I could help you more hmm "live"
This way we'd also avoid making a mess in this thread
and if i input that code for project menu *#*#2846579#*#* it just goes back to dialer. nothing else.

You say:all the files are correct in dload folder???????????
There should only be one file,UPDATE.APP
1- Install terminal emulator from google play
2- Run this command
Code:
getprop ro.hw.custPath
3- If the output is different from this => /cust/hw/eu => let us know

yeah in that last one there was only update file. but did try different types. and some had more files. and then i also tried with only the update file. so did try everything there. just stops at 20%

nope, it's /cust/hw/eu
and the phone was never branded (not locked to any provider) so the locked part itself should not be any issue. the thing is that whatever updates i try, the first small update goes fine. but when i try the second one, it stops at 20% the debugging and everything is ok. and done it all as it should be. now i can't install twpr, i can't put in that dialcode for the project menu (did read that was another way to flash) the phone itself is working, but bluetooth is not. neither nfc and hmm, not sure if any more. now i did insert a SD in the phone, and formated it with the phone. so guess that should work. so im kinda clueless to why none of the updates are working.

Edit: maybe first try dload method thease files, seperate, first from update.zip, second from update_full_hw_eu.zip (in dload folder only update.app and then restart phone holding volume + and -)
EVA-L09C432B378 update.zip, update_full_hw_eu.zip and only then try next writed
First, you need download and with dload method instal this https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/huawei-p9-rollback-package-eva-l09-t3497882
there are direct download
this file are small, and will configure phone to be able return to android 6
Create backup all files, other things you need, kuz using b136 will wipe all you got there
to return back to android 6 use this package : https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/stock-rom-dload-file-p9-eva-l09-b136-t3382818
here shortcut to mega site, works well for me
need to work, before start dload charge phone around 70%.
edit: Some questions:
Do you know, how aply dload method? (can you step by step how to? )
Can you enter in fastboot, and send pic what is here ? need to be similar in this picture

yes fastboot look like that (frp is red if i let the oem lovk in developer settings be enabled) but can make it look just like that yes.
and i insertet a 32gb micro sd card. and made a dload folder in the root of that card. and i put the update file in that folder and i hold volume + and - and power for like 5-6 seconds. and the emui comes up and start the update package
managed to find a working b378 on that last link but can't innstall the update in the megafilelink. says it's not the correct one for my system. so guess i'll try another one. but the phone is garbage soon...
B378 dload 1 update.zip only update.app, then dload 2 update.full.hw.eu.zip only update.app,
then dload small 89mb ?? Update.app from rollback, that's 3 time use dload,
then you need dload 4 all files from mega link, all files, maps, as you unzip it, in dload folder need to be update.app and 2 folders.
It's 4 times to do dload, really don't work?

the first update.zip stopped at 26% now. saying "failed to check the update pacage. please download the pacage again" and that happens all the time. never on the small files, so wonder if i might have to get another sdcard)might be something wrong with it?
so i get to the part where ive got b378 but the phone is still the same..

i get to the 378. i run full update hw (second one) and the rollback (third one) but it stops when i take the file from mega, 2 folders and the update total 4.4 gb unpacked. so wonder if there might be something with my SD card, it stops on 5% and says failed to check the update pacage, please download the package again. seems kinda like i don't have the right to write to the system or something, since i believe this should be the correct files so im gonna do a last try with different SDcard.
