SamMobile site shows two model numbers with different firmware versions.
SM-N950U = N950USQU1AQH7
SM-N950U1 = N950U1UEU1AQH9
The interesting part is they list the AT&T firmware under the SM-N950U1 section with a firmware version of N950U1UEU1AQH9.
My AT&T branded note is an SM-N950U and running N950USQU1AQH7 firmware.
I'm not sure what the differences are, but I suggest using caution if you want to flash one of these.
EDIT:
Found the differences by going through the FCC info.
SM-N950U = Made in Korea
SM-N950U1 = Made in Vietnam

Possible, but SamMobile's firmware section disagrees. They list AT&T firmware under the U1 section but I have an AT&T branded U version.

The u1 will be the unlocked firmware but will download with carrier csc info...for ease of use...when you put the sim in it does the same thing....my guess anyway after I matched the Sprint u1 with the xaa u1

So if I have the sprint version note 8 with U fw, would it be worth it to flash u1 fw for less bloat or no?

It would be up to you...by flashing my unlocked to Sprint, for testing purposes, I lost download booster but everything else is the same basically. Some theming with Sprint I don't like....I noticed that the VoLTE and WiFi calling are provisioned in both just show up differently in the menus. If VoLTE is in the update for the unlocked version or can be flashed with the USERDATA file with the next update, the lack of bloatware is worth it...for me anyways

Hi i own the SM-N950U1 which i purchased from Samsung store. It is the factory unlocked version. No carrier bloat. So definitely be careful when flashing.

I'll bet after last years debacle, Samsung want's to easily track which region manufactures it's phones.
And to make things even more confusing... The Note 8 I bought directly from T-Mobile (IE: definitely carrier locked & branded) is also a SM-N950U model. When I unboxed it, the firmware version was listed as N950USQU1AQH7 (which apparently is an exact match for a Sprint branded firmware version number). I have since installed an OTA, and now have N950USQ1AQI5.
I have a pre-ordered Note 8 direct from Sprint and it's manufactured from China and is a SM-N950U

Interesting... the Made in China version didn't go through the FCC. Only Korea and Vietnam models are listed in the filings.
The screen grab in my original post is from the FCC approval docs.

Hmmmm............
(Update)........... There are various carriers that have Vietnam, Korea and China as manufacturers. And they all are FCC. Some are different in color and the manufacturer is different.
Manufacture location has NOTHING to do with the model number. U models are carrier models and U1 is the unlocked from samsung. Simple as that.

Here; I have mine for 3 solid hours .
This is the SM- N920I release. Therefore purchased new. Sealed .
At first start there in the list: French - France for the language.
So I set all without worries.
No worries grip level of the network. Whether in town or in the countryside.
On my trip I had the 4g . The 3g . And at home in the countryside I'm Edge ; As with other smartphone I've owned .
So I have a Note 5 Version completely in French and I do not see any fault in relation to a unit purchased in Europe such as notes 4. Unless the Note 5 is frankly a very beautiful and strong improvement .
It is downright gorgeous. The back is very pretty ; more plastic . The screen is sublime.
It is super fast ; fluid; pleasant .
I'm tired; going to bed . More information later.
Looks like another . That's all for the time being
Hey guys , can you tell me if this firmware for the model SM - N910i supports Italian language ( PDA : N920IDVU1AOH2; CSC : N920INZC1AOH2 ) . In addition, the model SM - N920I is factory unlocked and you can flash with odin any firmware of this model ?! Thank you!

OK thanks. This model has no problems with locked bootloaders , right ?. One last thing , I assume you have the firmware NZC , there is also the Italian language system ?.
The locked bootloader is down to your carrier but that "shouldn't" prevent the same model firmware flashing.
Yes I have NZC and as you might notice from one of my older posts it contains almost every language by default

Does the NZC firmware have any bloat or carrier branding (i.e. carrier boot animations)? Because I have the TNZ firmware which has the Spark splashscreen and a Spark app that's just bloat since I use the phone on Vodafone. One other thing, is the stock internet browser Samsung's browser, because for me it's Y! TWorld, which is the same thing functionally, it just bugs me that it's been renamed and has a different icon.

No carrier bloat or branding other than the uninstallable 2Degrees app
Yeah there is a reason I never get a spark phone ever since my first one, all of the extra rebranding and removal of certain apps to put their own ones in...
In fact after one of my friends who had the same phone as me but was lagging constantly saw that I had no spark branding and asked if that was the problem with his phone (we both had the Exynos Note 4)

So flashing this firmware should remove the carrier branding? Awesome! Just one last question, could you post a screen capture of the pre-installed Internet browser? Because mine is different to what it should be and I'm wondering if that's down to the firmware.

Where exactly is my firmware coming from? Given that the 920I has MM and my phone is also independent from the carriers, what would be the reasoning for not receiving the update yet? Am I waiting on T-Mobile to do something or Samsung themselves? I've searched through a few threads but its very hard to get reliable answers considering the model numbers for the T-Mobile branded and carrier unlocked G920Ts are differentiated only by the 1 on the end of the T-Mob variant. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What is your device model in settings .
If you use tmobile 920t Android M is close .. as far as I know it won't be long likely within 30days
Sprint s6
already got Marshmallow
It's well known that tmobile s6 does not have the update yet .Word to the wise If you plan to upgrade better wait if you like to root the phone .
Android 6.0 update just may very well lock the tmobile variants bootloader just like the s7 was out of the box this isn't verified but its good speculation and likely the scenario to come in my opinion.

Like I said in the OP, I have the US unlocked G920T. My model has nothing to do with T-Mobile other than sharing a letter.
My device model in settings is SM-920T. The T-Mobile variant is SM-920T1, if I'm not mistaken.
Again, my model is completely free from any carrier bloatware. It is sold under the moniker 'US Warranty Version' on Amazon.

Do you have the box your phone came in? The model # printed on my box is SM-G920TZKAX, which like yours is unlocked and has no carrier branding or bloat, but also has very little documentation on. I'm trying to find similar answers, such as, is it safe to flash T-Mo firmwares and custom roms to this mode.
I also have the US factory unlocked carrier-free version. Sammobile has firmware for the T-Mobile and unlocked version on the same page (see link below). The "Cellular South" version is the unlocked version we have. I don't know why the unlocked firmware is connected to the T-Mobile firmware.

Exactly as said g920t=tmobile
He didn't get it the first time
I agree, this is some what confusing as the G920T Unlock is not branded with T-Mobile but share the same model name. It is extremely unclear as to who will be providing the update for the G920T unlock from Samsung or T-Mobile. One of my original reason to getting an unlock phone was to not depend on a carrier.
I hope someone else share some more insight in the difference between the two models.
I called T-mobile about this after not getting any update from T-mobile. They said I should take it to Best Buy to have it updated.
I am thinking of just waiting a couple more weeks for the bloatware free unlocked version. Hopefully it shows up soon. I think other folks should bug Samsung about it though so they don't forget.

Several weeks ago Samsung tech support told me (via phone call) to visit the Samsung Experience Store inside my local Best Buy. So I went and the Samsung rep couldn't get her computer to recognize my phone, because it was not carrier branded. I suspect they're using Smart Switch, but I'm not sure. That was a waste of time. When the T-Mobile MM came out, I flashed it. If a unlocked MM firmware is released, I'll probably flash it. You're better off flashing T-Mobile's firmwares since it gets security updates much more frequently than the unlocked version.

So once I flash to T-mobile version, it will then get OTA updates that T-mobile version gets or I will need to flash it manually? Also, does it trigger KNOX? If I have a problem with the phone, can I flash to stock and warranty it?

I assume I'll get T-Mobile OTA updates since I'm a T-Mobile customer. I don't know for those who flash the T-Mobile firmware and use the phone on other carriers. After I flashed the T-Mobile firmware, the Google Play store website automatically recognizes my phone as a T-Mobile S6. KNOX was not triggered. I don't know about warranty.
Just looking at 5.1.1 , XAR version with same CL was built 25 days earlier than T-mobile version.

Official OTA out today. Glad I waited.
Hello
Been googling for a while now trying to understand the differences between the Huawei P9 models.
I live in Australia and will be purchasing from AliExpress, but wasn't sure which model is correct for me as there appears to be the following Huawei P9's.
Al00, DL00 and AL10.
Thanks in advance!
I'm guessing those models are strictly Chinese models. That means that they're intended for China and don't necessarily support as many LTE bands as the global models. Check to see what LTE bands your wireless carrier uses and make sure the phone you get supports them.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4G_connectivity_in_Australia
The P9 EVA-L09 model seems to support the most number of LTE bands. If there's a chance you'll travel internationally with your phone, the EVA-L09 model is the one you should wait for.
http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_p9-7972.php
I believe those are the China domestic versions: EVA-AL00 (3GB/32GB), EVA-DL00 (3GB/32GB), EVA-AL10 (4GB/64GB).
(http://consumer.huawei.com/cn/mobile-phones/p9/ if you can read Chinese)
International versions are: EVA-L09 (3GB/32GB SINGLE-SIM), EVA-L19 (3GB/32GB DUAL-SIM), EVA-L29 (4GB/64GB DUAL-SIM). You can see the differences here (expand the "+Technical specifications" section): http://consumer.huawei.com/en/mobile-phones/p9/
Each phone seems to support slightly different range of network bands so you will need to check which is most suitable: http://www.willmyphonework.net/
Thanks guys that helps.
So the version I need is this one apparently since my carrier is Telstra in Australia. AL00 and I am not so sure if this model is AL00; can anyone tell?

First figure out what LTE bands your wireless carrier uses.
Take a look at http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_p9-7972.php for P9 models and the different LTE bands available on each.
As I understand it, you'll probably want the P9 EVA-L09 version. This is a single SIM model with most of the Western LTE bands. According to the specs, this model is the only one that has NFC. So if you want to use NFC for Android Pay, this model is most likely to work with it.
This Chinese version come with original ROM or Modified by vendor? Thanks.

What do you mean with "original ROM"?
Anyway, "original" Chinese ROM version is different from the "original" international ROM version.
So both versions are equally "original" in this respect.
Moreover, some Chinese carriers might SIM-lock the phone (if this is what you mean for "Modified by vendor").

Dear Friend,
When I said "Modified by vendor" I mean those ROM's who not receive updates via OTA and have a lot of bloatwares that the vendor have been installed.
Do you understood?
Thanks.

Actually these ROMs are generally called "branded" by carriers (and not "modified"...), and also these are official and original stock ROMs..
And I've never seen any original stock ROM for Huawei phones that can't receive OTA, even on branded phones.
However on branded phones some bloatware is usually added by the carriers.

It's very good.
I bought the Chinese Version EVA-AL00 and if AL10 has portuguese, the AL00 certainly has also.
Thanks a lot for the support.
Why not just read the bands from Chinese site?. This is for eva-Al10
The only real difference is support for cdma for China telecom. It will only support one Sim for cdma though, not both.

English HiVoice w/ EVA-AL10
I have the EVA-AL10 in USA (California) on AT&T Network and it works great.
I uninstalled all the Chinese Apps and using Google Play store etc.
My question:
Is is possible to change HiVoice Command from Chinese to English? Is there a Euro version of EMUI that can change this? Or perhaps another way to do this?
Or is it out of the question, since I bought a EVA-AL10 vs. EVA-L29 / EVA-L19 / EVA-L09?
I bought my in Hong Kong it is Version EVA-L19. It has google apps pre-installed but no NFC.

My Al10 is all PT-BR. Go ahead
Ultimately I have decided on 09 because I do not want problems with the games and any applications of the play store

Is anyone working on a carrier switch process for the Note 8 like the S8/S8+ ? I have a Verizon Note 8 that I would like to run the T-Mobile firmware on.

I found that the Canadian file has to be the XAC version and following the S8+ guide does work...follow it to the letter...still, if the device is unlocked...you should be able to flash the other carrier firmware and insert carrier SIM...I can't test beyond Sprint though and since my device is the XAA version my results may be different...if you are successful with the S8+ guide...let us know

Hi there,
i bought my Note8 around Novemeber 2017 from a UK online reseller: everything was fine, i got it (i live in Italy), it was brand new, sealed, etc
Now the problem: i didn't get any firmware update since then, and i'm still stuck at the August 1, 2017 Android security patch level.
By googling around the Build Number, it appears my phone is actually from South America, but i'm not sure.
Question: can you help me identify where my phone is exactly from?
And if it's from another region, does that impact my ability to get firmware updates?
Attached is a screenshot of my

Basedband: N950FXXU1AQHB
Build number: NMF26X.N950FXXU1AQI8
Go to Settings>About phone>Software information, under Service provider SW ver look at the CSC code (XXX/XXX/XXX). The last 3 letter code is the phone's original CSC. Search google or Sammobile or post it here.

BTW you should get OTA updates fine if on stock unrooted firmware. My N950F is from the UK (XEU) & I'm in the USA, OTA updates worked fine when I was stock. Some regions/countries get updates slow but yours is an old fw & you should've got an update by now.
You could always flash updated firmwares manually though. When happens when you go to Settings>Software update & check for updates?

Thanks, here it is:
Service provider: SAOMC_SM-N950F_OXM_ITV_0025

ITV/ITV/BRI
Bri = Taiwan? But when i search using the Baseband version, it looks like my phone is from South America.
I keep checking the software update tabs, but it says i'm on the latest firmware:
Current version: N950FXXU1AQI8 / N950FOXM1AQHF / N950FXXU1AQHB (this last one is my Baseband version).
Yes BRI is Taiwan. Baseband version doesn't tell you where the phone originated, it's just the modem version. You can check N950F from other regions with the same baseband version. You can pretty much flash any region N950F firmware, the BRI part will never change though. Just read up on changing CSC, if flashing firmware from a different region, I believe changing CSC will wipe data. Firmware will be pretty much the same though if you flash an unbranded (carrier free) firmware.
Weird that you don't get updates, there's 5 newer firmwares than what you are currently on. Maybe someone else can figure out why updates are not working for you. I wasn't stock for very long so I'm not sure. I waited like 3 days before rooting mine & that was the longest I have ever waited to root since I've had Android phones.

So, if i understood correctly: my note 8 is from Taiwan, and i should have received the latest OTA (N950FXXU3BRA8) but for some unknown reason i'm still stuck at N950FXXU1AQI8.
And what does the ITV / ITV says about it?
Is there a way to find why a device doesn't get an OTA?
Have you tried installing smart switch Samsung app on PC?
That app has an option to update firmware also.

First ITV is the active CSC. Second ITV is the CSC configuration of your SIM card. Since your phone is running OXM firmware which is multi-CSC & includes ITV, when you put your SIM card in it changed to ITV/ITV/BRI.
My phone is originally XEU which is also originally OXM multi-CSC. But I'm on Tmobile USA & the OXM fw does not have TMB CSC. So when my phone was stock it stayed as XEU/XEU/XEU, worked fine but I did not have any Tmobile USA features then.
Check out the following thread, it explains. Not sure if the info is accurate but it makes sense. Says OTA update does depend on carrier so it's your ITV CSC that is preventing OTA update. If you were on a firmware that does not include ITV CSC then OTA would work since your ITV carrier is not allowing it on your phone for whatever reason. But ITV does have all the latest updates so not sure why you are not getting them.
It doesn't really make sense but I say makes sense cause that is consistent with my experience since my phone was getting OTA updates fine when it was XEU/XEU/XEU. Doesn't matter now as I'm rooted so OTA don't work anymore & I'm running TMO CSC. Again not sure if the info is accurate in the thread but check it out.

To me everything is still confusing: if my fw is "multi csc" (and it contains ITV) why it doesn't get the OTA? Who is blocking them?
My network carrier? Samsung? Who esle?
To me, a "multi csc" fw sounds like a "multi region dvd" that works in several regions, and not the other way around.
Anyhow, is there a way to get my phone into a state where i get regular OTA updates without tripping knox or anything like that?
What do i have to do?
Hello,
I am in the same case, but with XEF/XEF/BRI.
Did you found a solution?
Thanks
