Did anyone here successfully unlock T-Mobile GN8 buying directly from Samsung.com?
You need to chat with tmobile Twitter. They unlocked my T-Mobile s8 purchased from Samsung.com. It takes a few days for your emei to be added to their system then use the unlock app to unlock.

My TMO Note 8 was ordered direct from Samsung and paid in full at the time of purchase. I just used the sim card from my S7 to switch phones for the Note 8. When I go to my TMO account online the Note 8 is shown as my phone, but when I hit the link on the web page to check unlock status I get a message that the phone is not listed in the TMO system. I stopped by a TMO store to ask about this and was told the phone is showing up but that I have to use it on my account for 40 days before TMO will request the unlock code. I am travelling internationally in November and want the phone unlocked before I go.

If the phone is paid in full, you're not required to wait 40 days! That rep was shooting sh!t out of his @sshole! You're eligible for an immediate unlock!
i contacted T-Mobile via Twitter and they said they will put in required to have it unlocked and would take couple days for the them to email me back to let me know whenever it ready to unlock using Device Unlock app.
I still get this message when I sign in to my TMO account: This device is not in our system.
I am wondering if the problem is that I just took the old sim card from the S7E and put it into my N8. Anyone else have this problem? Maybe I should switch sim cards and use the new one that came in the box with the N8?
3 day after contacted T-Mobile, mine device successfully unlocked using Device Unlock app which is what they told me to wait for 72hrs before try it.

Can you be more specific? Did you talk to person, or tweet, did you gave them your imei? Because I wasted half an hour talking to multiple people at customer service and finally was told by some idiot tech that my T-mo phone comes unlock from factory. Very frustrating, you would imagine they know a little bit about their phones, but it's like trying to explain theory of relativity to 2 yr old.

I can tell you that I have had my S6 for about 4 days and I put my prepaid sim card in it instead of the one it came with (had to create a postpaid account so that I could get this phone!). I tried to unlock with the app on the phone and it told me NO, I am not eligible to do that, but I just tried it a 3rd time about 30 mins ago and BOOM! I am permanently unlocked and can confirm that AT&T works great! The phone rebooted and it automatically froze the unlock app. LOL I un froze the app and sure enough, I am perm unlocked! Not bad for using the phone for less than a week and not calling T-Mobile even once to ask. Just wanted to give people a heads up in case u wanted to try this yourself with a pre-paid sim (if u have a prepaid account, of course). I love my $30 plan! :good:
Damn might have to try this out. Thanks!

TMOBILE S6 has an unlocked bootloader - BUT the SIM CARD is locked - the guy who posted here was apparently a long time customer on TMOBILE and because he has had an active account for longer than 40 days, he can unlock his sim card using the ap that comes on the phone. BUT if you want to use tmobile S6 on ATT - y ou may have to wait 40 days to get the SIM Card unlocked - unless you possibly know someone who has been on TMOBILE for a while and they let you use their SIM Card to get your phone unlocked....

so just put friends tmobile sim in there, and launch that app right after? or..... u are saying I HAVE TO let my friend play with my NEW S6 for few days. then use that app to unlock it.
Any other way I can get unlocked tmobile devices? I think last time I saw staples.com was selling unlocked tmobile lg g3.

I am not the one who discovered this - but from my understanding - you should be able to put the TMOBILE Sim Card into the phone (from the friend who has been on TMOBILE for a long time) and from what someone else said, the unlock ap wil unlock hyour phone. Then switch the Sim Card with the ATT sim card and you should be good to go.
Check oout the QA Thread for details - here is the post where someone else explained it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s6/help/unlocked-s6-att-t3069140/page2 GOOD LUCK -i hope it works for you - I don't know anyone on TMOBILE so I can't try it myself yet...

There seems to be some misinformation in this thread. I am a prepaid customer who hops around from different prepaid companies for the best rate plan/price and am currently with Harbor Mobile (T-Mobile agent) and I purchased some minutes for my prepaid $30 plan on T-Mobile prior to grabbing the S6 JUST so i could test out the unlocking. The unlock rules apply to each device that are on your account so while I may have been on T-Mobile prepaid for about a year, it was off and on and NOT continuous service which you must have at least 40 days of continuous service PER device that u want to unlock. So, I unlocked my Note 4 a couple of months ago through them but I just received my S6 so I would have had to wait 40 days to get my unlock because it's a new device AND I have failed to maintain continuous service for 40 days anyways, even if the other rule applied. Also, the reason I mentioned that it worked on the 3rd or 4th day I had the phone is because it literally takes T-Mobiles system that damn long for them to actually tell which device you have on their network. I don't know why they can't tell right away but I have swapped devices many times and I have found out that the 3 day rule applies ( at least to prepaid) cause when I call them up for a question or problem after I have swapped my phone they have no idea which one I'm using so anyway, I just wanted to give some more insight on what I have experienced through my time with T-Mobile prepaid and how their system works based on what I have been told and my experiences. I can almost guarantee you aren't just going to be able to throw your buddies sim in and unlock your phone! That would just be waaaay too easy and why would any carrier want to give you the easy way out?? LOL Anyways, take care guys and hopefully I helped answer a few questions. I will be off and on so I can answer any questions u may have relating to my experiences. You most certainly can try any method you think may work but I think I got lucky somehow and really it was VERY odd! I think it will be figured out very soon though so no need to worry as we already know they can be unlocked and I already confirmed this model works with AT&T 100%. :good:

I can confirm that official T-Mobile "Device Unlock" app unlocked my phone. First thing I did when I got the phone.. Using the T-Mobile Sim that came with the phone, opened up Device Unlock (pre-installed by the way), confirmed to unlock, no freezing no nothing it just worked and rebooted.
Phone is on a business account, upgraded via Jump 1.0, unlock prior to the OTA if any of this matters

So pretty sure I'm a victim of just being dumb. On Craigslist, yup Craigslist, a guy was looking to trade a Note 5 (t-mobile) for a iPad Air 2. I have an extra iPad laying around that I won so was I was interested in the trade. I had done something similar with the s6 Edge. I have AT&T but want it rooted so I know the only option is t-mobile. I didn't even think, but I get home but the Note is still being financed so I'm pretty sure it's not eligible to be unlocked. I haven't called t-mobile yet, but I don't think that's gonna matter. I'm kinda screwed
Pretty sure I have an awesome iPod touch. I sent for one of those unlock code things but from what I've read that's just not gonna work. The guy was really cool, he needed to go back to an iPhone for work. I haven't tried contacting him. I obviously can but I doubt that'll go over well. Any suggestions? At the end of the day I swapped a free iPad for an awesome Note 5, but just sucks that I don't think I'll be able to use it.
Thanks
BTW it's not blacklisted, just financed. I know I could use it on T-Mobile, but I don't have the service.
What is your question? Unlock it at www.cellunlocker.net
Sent from my Gorgeous Note5
Untill its blacklisted it should still work. T mobile wont unlock it themselves till its paid off im sure but if the guy u got it from has had the service for a while he may have every intention of continuing his account and paying the bill every month. I would have passed on it myself in your situation unless it was already unlocked. Try a cheap service and get a unlock code. If it doesnt work then contact the guy back and let him know what the deal is. 50/50 chance if u contact him quick he will be cool about it.
Sent from my SM-N920P using XDA Free mobile app
The fact that its financed is not really your problem as the account holder is paying the bill. There is no reason why you can't unlock. I also use cellunlocker.net every time i need to unlock a phone

Okay thanks guys... How long does the unlock usually take.. I used the "unlockingcompany" and its been almost two full day. Just curious.
Thanks
Cellunlocker.net usually sends the code between 3-6 hours. Although on the 10 or so codes I ordered, one or two took about 24 hours

Okay. I just I'll give this site a few more hours then if not I'll try your suggestion
Also if you film the unlock process and post it on YouTube you might get between 50% and 100% discount. Here is a vid i made just a few days ago

Beware of cellunlocker.net they have poor customer service and fight you hard if you need a refund. I would verify from them that they can unlock a Tmobile Note 5 b4 you pay them a dime. With tmobiles new unlock app codes don't work anymore.

Thats BS. Cellunlocker have great customer service. I've been dealing with them for almost 10 years, 2-3 times a year and always had the code withing 3-6 hours with 1 exception...even on weekends and holidays they deliver. What company refunds you at least 50% of your cost just by posting a video of the process? The only reason you would ask for a refund is if you've provided them with the wrong IMEI. It happened to me once, and their terms of service clearly state that no refund will be issued if its a user mistake. Which is totally understandable because they provided me with the service, why should they pay? I had one issue with the correct IMEI being sent but process froze my phone. I called them and were able to provide me with unfreeze code over the phone and help me through the process. Their codes are also some of the cheapest on the market.
It's not because you had a bad experience that they have bad customer service. I'm sure you haven't told us the entire story either.
T-Mobile uses a Device Unlock app on it's Note5 devices; traditional sim unlocking will not work. T-Mobile does something on their end to process the unlock without entering a SIM unlock code. here's a link to an S6 thread where the OP implies he can SIM unlock your S6/Note5 device if your phone is rooted. had i known of this, i would have tried it myself. fortunately, T-Mobile granted me a permanent unlock because i paid full price for my phone. Good luck.
Hey guys, I wanted to ask if any of you know about a website where I could pay to have the Note 7 unlocked?
I cant find anything about it, but then again I couldn't either with the S7 and someone here helped me out.
Thanks!
not sure, but usually I get my services done remotely from salaxycell.com

I just did that a few days ago. Also the handset must be paid off completely first.

I dunno. I think policy is 40 days. But my customer service location is really good and rated #1 in the country. Otherwise I don't know. You should be able to get it unlocked, especially since you're a customer. Id even try yo use TForce. They're pretty awesome too

I would return it. It is rather unscrupulous of the buyer to sell you a phone that has not been paid off.
And eventually, if it is not paid off it will be black listed and locked out of TMO network based on IMEI
Sent from my LG-H872 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
The 40 days is policy that the phone needs to be actually activated and working for the 40 day counter to start. They do not have to be 40 consecutive days, but 40 days of being alive, working and connected. The Op said that the phone was paid off, so that shouldn't be an issue for the op. Just the 40 day counter.
No need for 60 days continuous use on T-Mobile network. Insert valid T-Mobile sim card to register the handset at least once on their network. You can then take the sim card out (use with any T-Mobile MVNO or don't use it at all - your choice). After 60 days have passed, insert valid T-Mobile sim card again and use the unlock app to permanently unlock your handset. I've done that with my handset and it got permanently unlocked.
Hi there,
I've managed to unlock a T-Mobile G6 a few days ago, using a third party service. Specifically, here: https://www.unlockscope.com/unlock-lg-g6-032413
It was pricier than I was expecting, but anyway, it worked and now it's on AT&T.

Do you know if the same SIM needs to be used after the 60 days (T-Mobile quotes 40 days), or can a different SIM be used? I ask because I purchased a T-Mobile locked phone from someone who had it activated after purchase but apparently not for long enough as I can't get it unlocked in the unlock app even though it's now been long enough. I didn't encourage the seller to put his SIM back in the phone at time of purchase and I don't have easy contact with him anymore. I do however know someone else with a T-Mobile plan but I don't want to try using a different SIM if that might screw with the day count. Might you have any insight?
I used a different T-Mobile sim from the one I initially inserted to register on their network.
It could officially be 40 days even though I waited 60 days instead. Was in no rush to unlock.

Also you have to meet certain terms and condition before you can unlock the handset. I.e. you can only unlock 2 devices per calendar year. The handset should be paid in full etc. There are some other requirements I don't recall exactly please look it up.

Thanks for the info! One last question since I have to meet up with someone to get do it. Is it something that should work right after putting the SIM in or does it have to be in the phone awhile? All other conditions have been met as far as I'm aware so if what you're saying still works, it should do the trick.
Hi, I'm thinking about buying a locked T-Mobile Google Pixel 4 XL being from outside the US, and I'd like to check first with you guys what are my options yo unlock it. I've read here that if the owner Is a long-time owner they can request the phone to be unlocked, although this might not be the case with the person I'm planning to make the purchase with.
Is my only option to unlock it by buying a code (if that"s still a thing..) anyway, I would appreciate your help, thanks!
I contacted T-mobile directly because I do not have an account. The rep told me if I bought the pixel 4xl in the store I would still have to wait 40 days for an unlock code even though I am buying the phone outright.
Get the t-mobile app and chat with them. If you ask nicely they'll unlock it
If the phone is being financed through them then they will most likely refuse to unlock it.

I used Facebook messenger to contact TMobile. Mine is paid off but the rule is 2 payments and 40 days I think. 40 days is easily waived.
Thank you all, I can give it a try, however, will they help me even if I purchased it through eBay?
Took me about 6 or 7 Pixel 4XLs, ordering and returning via Care, TMOHelp, or a Supervisor from either. On the 12th (of February), i received my last and final Pixel 4XL, when i received it, i left it in the UPS Box, so the IMEI is yet to be active, and i owed FULL PRICE for the device, and i contacted the right Rep @ TMOHelp on Twitter to white list my IMEI, before i even activated or turned the device ON. The TMOHelp rep asked for the new IMEI and 5-10 minutes and he would try and work his "MagentaMagic" and i tried explaining, as long as he whitelists the correct IMEI, we wouldnt and shouldnt have any issue. He came back and said all went well, just turn the device on make sure I update the UNLOCK App and choose PERMANENT UNLOCK and there she was : T-Mobile Google Pixel 4XL Carrier Unlocked and awaiting fastboot instructions... Only took 6-7 Devices and a little over a Month!

@TMOHelp OR @TmobileHelp ?
*Edit* must be @TmobileHelp because @TMOHelp looks fake as hell.

Mine was unlocked immediately (within 20 minutes) via the Twitter help. Once the rep white listed the IMEI it took about 10 minutes for the permanent unlock to show up. My device is not paid off, however I have had 6 lines on a business account with auto pay setup for over 2.5 years. I'm definitely thinking account longevity helps.

I used the chat option within the T-Mobile app and got it unlocked immediately after the phone reboot. He didn't even ask for the IMEI number but just the last 4 digits of the phone number of the phone to be unlocked.
He mentioned the phone must be active with T-Mobile service for at least 40 days, account in good standing, and been with them for a long time. So, it really depends on how and who you talk to to get it done!

Yes. I think the length of time you are with them is the key factor. The guy on Twitter said as much.
Okay so I am in shock right now.
I'm a brand new T-Mobile customer, my phone is on a lease and I just got this Pixel 4 XL like 4 days ago.
My phone is fully SIM unlocked and I can verify that the OEM bootloader unlock is no longer greyed out and I've already checked it and it worked.
Originally when I asked I said hey I don't really have a good signal where I work can we unlock the phone so I can use a different sim when I'm at work and they told me I needed to pay off the phone and wait the 40 days.
I tried messaging them again and asking them to enable the dual SIM feature and they did. They asked why I needed it and when I told them they said sure no problem, they set my T-Mobile SIM to be an eSIM and then white listed my phone so I could use the T-Mobile unlock app so that I could use my AT&T SIM.
Sounds like the trick is to ask them to enable dual SIM mode due to signal carrier issues. I will say that the person that I was speaking to told me which type of tower I was connected to and that they could see that I had an extremely poor signal in that area and that there was probably nothing we could do to fix it. Basically they verified that I was in an area with a poor signal and then were like sure no problem!
The person helping me stayed right there on Twitter and walked me through the entire process until I had both SIMs functioning together.
Have my phone just over a week, tried and failed 2 times!
Finally, after third time chatted with T-Mobile through Twitter got my phone unlocked.
It depends who you talk to... Just keep trying!
