You can still access this feature. It's on the keyboard, first key on the left side of the keyboard, next to space bar. You can also use the handwriting feature by hovering your s-pen at the point where you are writing and it'll show you a pen sign.
There's 3 ways. What above mentions hoverin over the text box and letting icon appear.

Then there's this way. Hold down the Mic button to bring up the menu shortcut and select it. It will always stay there after you select it. You can always change it to another by hoolding it down.

Last but not least you can go into keyboard settings and as long as the s pen is out of the silo it will open up handwriting to text keyboard.

Just in case the OP meant something different, here's how you can access the "handwritting recognition" from within Samsung Notes. Go into "Samsung Notes" and either open an existing note or create a new one. If you open an existing note, click on "Edit" option (see screen shot)
and you will get a screen like the following
If you click on the "abc Pen" button, you'll get the menu options on the bottom of the screen that will have a pen, an eraser, a "selection tool" (this is the one you want), undo, redo, easy writing pad. With the selection tool selected, draw a perimeter around the text you want recognized , click on the 3 vertical dots that follow the "Cut, Copy, Delete" popup menu and select "Extract Text". You should see something that looks like the following:

Do you have a simpler method to convert handwriting to text from a note written out on the lock screen? If so, please share.
Any note written on the lock screen can be brought up in Samsung Notes. There used to be a way to do handwriting recognition whenever you use the pen, but I think that was a feature of the SNote app that they don't have pre- installed. You can sideload it though. I believe there are posts in this forum to download the app. Good luck.
Don’t really know about the Samsung special feature, but there are some websites with the help of which you can also convert your handwritten notes to text and then check it for grammar and punctuation. The guys here recommended the app, but it can be not very useful, if you use it for once or need to convert not just notes, but a page or more and when you write by hand on the paper, but not on the screen of your smartphone. Also it is a great advantage, that it recognizes the text clearly and converts it correctly, I think, it is the most important feature.

I saw a lot of people not knowing how to configure it, so here's how I got it to work
1. Install Floating Notifications and enable it in the Accesibility menu.
2. Select the box labeled "Launch Apps in Halo Mode"

3. Go to the app notifications menu and check which ones you want it to notify you for. HINT: if you want a real halo experience the rightmost icon in the app list will make the icon stay floating.
4. This is a personal preference: Go to Customize in Floating Notifications and select "Dock after a few seconds of inactivity" and then at the bottom set "Amount of the icon hidden when docked:" to 55%. If it is more than 55% then you will have trouble clicking the stack.
5. REBOOT PHONE.
Now for the Xposed part.
1. Install Xposed Framework
2. REBOOT PHONE.
3. Go into Xposed Installer and go to "Downloads" and select XHaloFloatingWindow, and then install it.
4. REBOOT PHONE.

6. For safe measure REBOOT PHONE. And then you're done

Also on the reboots it hung on the splash for a while.

Note 4 is here, and as per tradition comes new tricks and functionality. Most of them makes use of S-Pen. Most you may already know, but good to have a thread where we can discuss certain functions which you find useful.
I will start with video review of Photo Note feature.
Increasing font size
I would like to add one.
whilst in message mode (writing a text ) use the volume key to increase and decrease the font size, great if you need glasses to read
Plus THIS review has a few pointers
Excellent

Here's one on how to speed up the Note 4...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAXtjgrfgEY
I have this little trick
I used a SGN2 with 3 frotal buttons. Menu--Home--Back.
Anytime I need my screen doesn't turn off I pressed menu button, if the menu appears well I pressed again menu button and screen was still turn on.
Now my SGN4 has this 3 frontal buttons Recent apps--Home--Back
If U use some kind of apps (for previous android versions) you will find that menu is hidden, and not all the time the 3 points menu shows up, then WHERE'S MENU BUTTON?
Well the trick is this
If you PRESS and HOLD "recent apps" button you will activate MENU BUTTON.
Try it
I'm loving the copy text feature of the s-pen. Sweet
Sweet Note 4
SixAxis controller works a charm with any game that supports native android game controller - GTA:SA, RR3, PicaSim are working for me, haven't tried much else.
The note makes for a pretty decent portable gaming platform.
You can register up to 6 fingerprints.
When setting up fingerprint 1, scan a finger 10 times then hit register and scan a different finger for the next ten. Hit done.
Repeat for fingerprint 2 and 3.

OK I hope this makes sense. On my Sprint note 4 you have your screen and then at the bottom you have the captive buttons as well as the physical home button (we all have that) now if you are on your home screen and want to slide to the next screen either right or left.... slide your finger on the black line (bottom of my screen) no matter if its across the whole bar or only part of it. I have attached a pic I got off the net to show what I'm talking about. I hope other carriers have this enabled as is so easy to flip between screens. I've only found it to work on the home screen though.

I just received my Note5 earlier today, and everything is Ok, except for the fact that I can't find the scroll capture option! Does anyone have a fix?
Sent from my SM-N920I using Tapatalk
To take a scrolling screenshot or scroll capture on the Note 5:
Open the content you wish to take a scrolling screenshot of.
Take out the S Pen to launch Air Command, tap on Screen Write.
The screen will flash and capture a single screenshot, then press Scroll capture in the bottom-left corner.
The screen will scroll, and you can select Capture more to keep going, or Done to stop.
Once you've captured everything, tap Share, Save in Gallery or Save in Scrapbook at the bottom of the screen.

If you changed the theme of the device the scroll capture goes away. I beleive it has to be on the default theme.
Bruh..... If you are going to post about an issue, post the screenshot of your actual problem.
It also only shows up on apps that scroll downward, such as a Web page on Chrome or the Settings menu.
And no, it does not remove the option based on your theme! If you are going to provide help, know what your talking about. If you don't know your stuff, GTFO and move on to the next thread. Dont post help about something you know nothing about.

Finally appeared after clearing the cache. Strange bug.
I'm having the same bug but I can't seem to fix it. I tried clearing the cache for air command but no change. Any suggestions?
Needed to necro this thread because I had the same issue of scroll capture not popping up. Solidmarc111 was right, you have to be on the default theme. I was on the material theme. Cleared air command cache and it didn't do anything. Changed theme back to default and works perfectly. Also wanted to say leo9891 is a fool for calling someone out so rudely when he is the one that "doesn't know his stuff." That is all.

Sorry man I just tested it, I am on ShineBlack theme NOT default and it works just fine for me, maybe your theme (material) removes it for some reason but this is not a problem with the theme I am using. So, NO you do NOT have to be on default theme. Seems leo9891 is not a fool after all, maybe test multiple themes before you comment?
Lol thanks for more data but Leo is still a fool since he said themes didn't matter and called the person out for it. With my phone I proved him wrong, therefore his rude comment was foolish. I had no need to test multiple themes to prove his statement was rude and foolish. It only had to effect one theme, which it did. Have a nice day though
I had the same problem. Had to reboot phone into manual mode then wipe cache partition. Now it's working fine for me.

AT&T in the U.S. renamed it Calendar but it's still S Planner. If it's completely missing it might be a regional thing. Use an app like Shortcut Maker and see if you can find it in your phone's apps and activities. It may be there but hidden and you can use a shortcut to you make to launch it.

If you're talking about being able to add hand written comments on week view that's gone. A casualty of Samsung's de-bloating efforts. You can still ink but it's not as broad as it used to be. For example, if you press a date on the calendar with the S Pen this pop-up appears. You can handwrite your meeting in to it but it auto-coverts to text.

Ok found it! this made my head scratch as well..
Huawei seems to have set it up differently. If you are using Gesture navigation you would not see it. Follow the below steps to first see it and enable it before switching back to Gesture navigation.
1. Go to Settings > System > System Navigation > select Three-key Navigation
2. You will now see the little guy in the corner, click on him and you will then see the floating icon (both in attached screenshot)
3. You can now move around the floating icon and even change back to Gesture Navigation.
Do hit the Thanks button if this helped..

1 more issue I noticed though was that the feature reads everything starting from the top of my screen and ignores what I select.. In fact, when I have something selected, it reads the context menu to me 'Select all, copy, etc.' then proceeds to read from the top of my screen. Do you see the same behavior?
