Should be a little arrow at the end of the slider and click that and turn off some settings. I thought I had turned mine off as well til I fooled with the setting. Now I'm good.

I'm not seeing any arrow.
Was outside today and noticed screen would light up a bit and back down while under tree. So I tested by putting hand over sensor. Inside it doesn't change no matter how light or dark the room

Yeah I was talking about in the drop down. Maybe turn the brightness down a bit instead of full brightness?

Maybe turn auto on then off and reboot your device.

I don't do well with dim light set, even in a dark room. Puts a strain on my eyes. Always full brought. Might have something to do with note 7 mess, not sure. This is my first non htc device. Just used to all the way up, being all the way up. Brightness doesn't change indoor at any light levels. But this does in brought sunlight, and I put a flashlight into sensor and it got brighter. If it is available, I want it all the way up, no holding back.
Also used to having a dead battery by 1-2pm, but with this device, 10pm I'm looking at 40-60% and have been using it more than old device. Of course, to me, that is mind blowing. I've seen reviews complaining about poor battery quality. They should get a htc one m9.

Yeah the battery life is definitely better atm. Im not doing too bad.Hopefully it stays that way.

Has anyone found a solution for this? It drives me mad. I also want 100% full brightness at all times. My auto-brightness is also turned of as well as Adaptive settings under Display yet the brightness still adjust when moving in and out of brightly lit rooms or in to the sunlight and back in to shade.
I have been searching all around to find an answer and everyone thinks that I am just talking about the Auto-Brightness, it seems to be an extra "feature" and I want it disabled.
Let me know.
Thank you

[SOLVED] lower brightness option for night time browsing (like night mode)

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone new how to lower the brightness level to below that of stock, up to the level of night mode if I needed.
I like to do a bit of browsing before I sleep, and the brightness levels even on the lowest hurt my eyes! If anyone knows how to do this I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!
UPDATE: Issue helped, and possibly resolved with the help of my mate Rich @ Geek you Up. Check out his app in my thread:

Ive been looking at the Auto-Brightness thread and it seems Cyan already knows how to tweek the brightness values, but I dont even know what a github is let alone the deving needed to acheive this.
cyanogen said:
Anyway, the Desire has 10 auto-brightness levels, and the N1 has only 5. These are just an array of lux/brightness values. I put them into my vendor overlay and rebuilt, and I have to say it's much nicer. I'm going to include it in the next CM.

Cyan if you can help, I would appreciate it!! But understand if the modding is far more important
Like how the brightness dims before the screen auto turns off, or how it is dim when you tap the sleep button in the clock application - these would be good. As for that stock widget that controls the wifi, blutooth, gps, sync and brightness, i never touch it because it messes with autobrightness, but if it could be changed to temporarily go really dim thatd be perfect

Either my friend! The clock application goes even dimmer than I want, so somewhere in between would be great. But I'm sure that could be customized, I just dont know where to start looking..
I'd be really interested in this too - I like reading in bed before going to sleep, but the wife doesn't like the light being on. I have to angle my nexus slightly away as it is too bright, even at the lowest setting, to have it directly facing me while in a dark room.

[Q] HELP! HTC One LED dim problem [VIDEO EXAMPLE]

So, I haven't noticed until recently, but the LED notification light on my HTC One has become incredibly dim. I thought this was initially due to wear on the device, but I recently discovered that the LED becomes its old self for a few seconds when you charge it with the power off.
Can anyone help me make the LED burn as brightly as it did when I first bought it? I'm uploading a video example of this in action.
http://youtu.be/69LnDOXBluY (You may need to watch in HD due to the low light)
As you can tell from the video, there is something in that initial "Oh, it's time to charge" screen that makes the LED operate normally, then when the screen flashes, it goes back to being barely visible.
Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated. I just recently did a full GPE conversion on my phone, and before this on the custom rom I was using, I didn't have a screen or LED showing the device was charging when it was powered off, leading to this recent discovery, despite the LED being dim for quite a while in normal usage.

[Q] Which is preferred for missed notifications- LED or Active Display?

Thinking about getting a Droid Turbo but not sure about the notifications....I currently have a Note 2 and I really like having a front LED for missed notifications. I am not sure if I would notice active display as quickly or not. I thought I would ask and get some opinions on which is preferred(if had the choice of both).
I do miss my led but I've had one since the Droid X. So far Its something to get used to for me. If you aren't sure you can just wave your hand over it. I wasn't sure about it but I'll give the blinkey light up for the performance I have now over my old S4
Honestly the active display is awesome but to disable it when driving because it tends to keep turning on without any notification when on my gps mount but for me it's no big deal. The active display won't affect battery much since this is a amoled display and only the needed pixels (white ones) light off and the rest are completely off.

I watched a video of it for Moto X and the strobe rate does not seem to be often enough for me. Is it adjustable to where the notification can just stay on the screen instead of strobe? I check my current phone with only a brief glance for LED notifications, and I would surely mess the notification on active display if it's in between strobes.

Is this why my screen seems to blink intermittently? It doesn't even seem to have a pattern... It's not like "regular"... omg, I want to disable this so bad!!! Definitely horrible when driving and mounting the phone in a mount. It's irritating and distracting.
I guess that I never noticed that there was no more LED to blink!
I missed having an LED at first, but the active display functionality has grown on my like a tumor! LOL!

Same here! It's just so awesome! For me it's better because it's as if the led were on because of the amoled display.

That's true and simple just wave you hand close to the screen or any movement really turns on active display. The notification doesn't go away until you have gone to the specified app to see what it was

just put your hand near it, you don't even have to touch it. The notifications will light up. Unless I am doing it wrong, it would be nice if I could touch that notification icon and swipe and it took me to it.
Here's how I usually operate...my phone is always on my desk or on my couch face up....without me touching it. How can I make it to where if I glance over at it without touching the phone or waving my hand over it where I can see the notification without staring at it? Is there a way to make the notifications on the screen stay on without fading in/out? With the speed it fades in/out, I know I will miss a notification while it's faded out.

You have to touch and hold the notification icon and slide up. That will open whatever application the notification is for.
I just went from note 2 to droid turbo 2. I miss the led light. I am a mom and sometimes I let my 3 years old play game on my phone while I shop. The led light let me know someone is trying to reach me. I can not tell anymore with droid turbo 2 because of no LED light. And, I still haven't found moto display useful. My husband noticed I don't response fast enough since the new phone. The note 2 and turbo 2 are are almost same size so I do not carry my phone in my pocket often because it is uncomfortable and sometimes even fall out of my pocket when I am cleaning, carrying dealing with my kids, so I like to lay it down and look across the room for the LED light. I am severe to profound hearing loss in both ears and wear cochlear implant so when i am not wearing it, i like to see the notifcation across the room.
I am giving my husband the turbo 2 (I could return it but he wants it). I going to get a phone with a led light.
we actually do have an led light near the front facing camera, but i have no idea how to activate it and it doesnt seem to be used by any app. ive seen it come on twice but idk why it came on. it happened while on the charger and it turned green.
Active Display all the way, hate LED lights.
I think you can get the led to work with some combo of light flow and xposed. It also is used by default with RR. I'm torn on which I like. I liked active display on stock, but it doesn't seem to work as well on non stock based ROMs. I've been using the LED, but it doesn't really blink, it just stays on solid when I have a notification.

Notification led

Good evening all.
Is there a notification led on the front of the Rog Phone 2?
And if it is, is it a monochrome led or a multicolor led? If it's a multicolor led, can I modify the color based of notification (WhatsApp message, Facebook Message, GMAIL, SMS, Lost Call, etc.) ?
Thanks in advice
Yeah. It is multicolor. I think you can set it based off of the apps but I haven't checked. Also the logo on the back serves as a notification light if you set it up. But I think it might be buggy as of now.

Yes there is and it's multi color, you can change the color for apps if you use a 3rd party app like light flow. You can only set the color to 1 of 3 colors i believe (Red,Green,Yellow). The default system notification color is green.

If you keep it on a table or bed next to you, is the LED visible if you glance at it? My earlier LG G Pro 2 has a very prominent LED. But the newer phones seem to have a LED that is so tiny and faint that you can hardly see it blinking or glowing unless you hold it right in your hand close to your face. I think it must be the same as this ASUS ROG II phone too. All the Huaweis and Xiaomis that do claim to have LEDs have the useless invisible microscopic LEDs.

Same thing on my T-Mobile model - 3.1% over 9 hours. I have not checked my unlocked model, as its still in the box.
Have you noticed the 'ring" of pixels around the camera changing color to black when using the phone? I notice it mostly when browsing the web, or on a phone call.
Hard to describe what it is, but a "ring" about 5 px wide turns black or dark grey around the front camera just for a second. Is that the light sensor thing?
---------- Post added at 12:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:27 PM ----------
Interesting - I read an article about samsung using the camera instead of a sensor in new phones to detect the ambient brightness. The phone will take a picture, adjust the brightness, then the picture is permanently deleted. I guess that flash of the ring around the camera is the phone doing that to see what the light levels are in the room.
I turned off auto brightness and that ring flashing has stopped.

Definitely when you turn off auto brightness, the CameraLightSensor is not working in the background. But it must be a software glitch, it should be active only when the screen is on, it shouldn't be active while the device is in sleep.

Yes - Whether on the home screen, in a call, or in an app, there is a perfect "ring" (if you will) about 3-5 pixels wide around the camera that goes black for a split second or so and then changes back to the color of whatever it was displaying (think background color of a chrome tab, phone call, etc). It's impossible to catch as it happens so quickly. It's almost as if a perfect circle is turning off and then back on. And it has happened on both of my S20 FE, with or without adaptive brightness turned on.
I don't think it's something that screen recorder will even capture since that doesn't show the camera cutout, but I'll try!
EDIT: So I made a screen recording - and I think it was just the troubleshooting I needed to figure out what the problem is (was). . . When recording, the screen never shuts off, so there is no need for Smart Stay to activate (the camera checks to see if you're looking @ the phone to stay on). . . As soon as I stopped screen recording, that ring of pixels turned off and back on as it has been doing. I turned off Smart Stay, and it hasn't happened in the past 10 minutes or so. . .
I wonder if those that are seeing the high CameraLightSensor usage have Smart Stay turned on? It's not on by default - you have to look for it in settings.

I have smart stay off, accidentall touch protection off, face unlock off, and from today adaptive brightness off, and my CameraLightSensor is not working in the background when I turned it off. Auto brightness was definitely the culprit for me.
