AICP Nougat Android 7.1.2 for Asus Zenfone 2 Z00A
DISCONTINUED
AICP is known by everyone as Android Ice Cold Project. Until Lollipop, ROM was always AOKP based. Then it changed the base to CyanogenMod when it comes to hardware, drivers and some features. Now it’s on LineageOS. It’s an awesome combination of performance, customization, power and the newest features, brought directly to your device.
Disclaimer: Your warranty is now void. I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SDCards, thermonuclear war or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please, do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! You are only responsible for flashing it.
Special thanks to the AICP team and also CM, SlimRoms, Carbon, LiquidSmooth, DirtyUnicorns, Omni, LineageOS, jrior001 and all the team.
Installation instructions
- Required: MM Bootloader and TWRP 3.1.1+
- Boot to TWRP recovery
- Make a nandroid backup
- Recommended: Full wipe and factory reset (necessary if you come from other ROM and not necessary if you come from AICP official or unofficial)
- Flash Unofficial AICP for Z00A or Official AICP for Z00A. You can dirty flash one or the other, both are compiled using the very same code. The ROMs are always rootless.
- Flash GAPPS for 7.1.x x86 builds
- (Optional) Flashing Holo Kernel from nutcasev1.5 for more optimizations.
- (Optional) Root the device with Magisk, SuperSu or Lineage Su
- Reboot (it could reboot twice during the process: wait!)

Nice to still see at least attempts to resurrect dead developments on my former device. Good job!

Will this get the official tag and frequent updates ?

Tested with Holo Kernel. Works fine. Nice job developer

Sorry, but what is the point of this if we got official nightly?

We should understand the fact that this device is getting old, as well as ASUS hasn't given out all the source code. We should appreciate what support is being provided.
Personally I've tried many unofficial roms which are quite good.

Most probably not. But what are you missing?
Frequent updates? More than weekly we were only receiving placebos... Even LineageOS for us in weekly.

Last month Slim (officially) and RR (unofficially) dropped the support for our phone.
Now I know how to compile AICP and it's working
Oreo is not close. A lot of problems with sensors. Asus won't help. All x86 is dying (if it was alive anytime).
It's hard but we jumped on a sinking boat...
But if compiling open source is an offense to you, please, just donate to AICP for their hard work

Omg! We are talking different languages? I will try another way. Link I sent previously let users to download aicp nightly automated builds, right? You set manifest, repos etc. on your machine and building aicp. So... If we already have official nightly, and scripts automatically doing same thing you are doing manually - what is the point of your actions? You are going to include some modifications? If not - what is the difference?

I had tried the earlier builds. Didn't see the official one's.
Bottomline stop expecting much. There aren't much changes to pack every week and declare periodic builds.

Not a developer, just compiler

If you want to know anything about LineageOS 15 and Z00A, the technical page is here:
https://github.com/LineageOS/android_device_asus_Z00A/branches
When the countdown moves from 0/0 we'll be going further. Otherwise, devs are finding enormous issues that do not pass the quality tests of Lineage (such as broken sensors, do not boot, etc.).
Ah!, don't ask for ETAs

Don't disable Heads-Up. You wont be able to answer phone calls otherwise.
You tell...
ROMS should contain everything you need to enjoy Lollipop. You are not required to install any Add Ons, simply download the latest ROM, gapps, flash it, and go!
You are STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing, and if possible avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup - these can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug. If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience strange behavior.
How to flash:
Don't do it if you don't know it
ROM has gapps persistance in between dirty flashes
KERNEL:
Kernel in this rom follows CM source with custom additions.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA:
To be able to flash over OTA app, TWRP recovery is needed.
Check here for latest F2FS compatible recovery by @invisiblek: http://www.invisiblek.org/twrp/
You can still use CWM and OTA app, but only to download zip file and flash it manually from within recovery. Zip gets saved under AICP_ota folder on your internal SDcard.

Downloading now. I'm glad to see this get an official release, the unofficial one has been a lot of fun to tinker with and see all that I could get done.

If it's built like the Unofficial build semdoc made prior then no. In the instructions subheader it says just flash the ROM and then gapps and you're good to go so have fun.

Nope. Not needed.
It's an incredible ROM and we're all very lucky to get the "official" treatment. It's without a doubt the most advanced Lollipop out there for our device, and it runs smoooooooth and flawlessly. Thanks semdoc!

GPS Lock Problems
Thanks for the awesome ROM! The only issue that I am having is with the GPS. I can not seem to get a lock no matter what I do. Do you have any recommendations?

I'm able to get a lock, but I have noticed on the Release build that the phone is staying awake all the time. I haven't had a lot of time to track it down, but I think at least part of it is related to location services. Could this issue be contributing?
As stated before, besides GPS, this is a pretty smooth rom . Lots of options. Thanks for this :good:
Does this ROM have Hotspot activated?
Installed on my 720T and everything seems to be running good so far. My GPS seems to be working as well.
What Gapps do I use ? Does someone have a link ?

viper4android
really nice and stable rom...:good:
here are some issues that i am facing.
1. viper4android doesn't work.. the drivers wont get installed.
2. the nav ring target of google now looks a bit ugly as it comes only as half circle.
3. changing color or quicksettings makes it buggy, and the default quicksetting is bit transparent.
4. proxy applications like drony won't work (its a basic app doesn't even need root, was working in cm12)
thanks

We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonROM GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

Since these are not nightly builds, I will not update the ROM every day. I will update, when I feel like updating!
Why none of my videos are playing and I can't use viper4android?
- Just change your selinux mode to permissive with the help of an app called selinux mode changer. Google it.
Install that app, then open it and tap on permissive to enable the permissive selinux mode. Also tick the box that shows you the notification when the selinux mode is changed.
That's it, now after every reboot selinux will be set to permissive and all those issues will be gone.

Validus ROM for the LG L90 (w7)
Source Code
Requires unlocked bootloader(D405/D410), twrp for install and full wipe.
ROM OS Version: 6.0.x Marshmallow
ROM Kernel: Linux 3.4.x

FAQ:
Q Are you still going to support your other ROMs for the l90?
A Short answer: "yes", Long answer: "I have no reason not to, each one is an adventure of its own".
Q Does this ROM support Xposed?
A No, Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be disscused in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports while using it as Xposed can cause a lot of bugs.
Q Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A Use the version arm sdk 23.
Q Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A If I have one I will probably give it to you, don't ask for one though, it is very rude to do this.
Q Do I need to provide a log if I'm reporting a bug?
A If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a log.
Q I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A In TWRP, go into Advanced, then File Manager and navigate to /data/system/theme, and then delete the folder, you might also have to remove the app in /data/app, or /system/app.
Q Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A Yes, however make a nandroid first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs, also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q How do I get a logcat, and what type should I get, and more questions that can conviently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog

Thanks, and basically if you want a feature rich ROM with the cyanogen mod theme engine you would use this one, if you want substratum instead, you would use tesla, and if you want a very lightweight, but still very customizable ROM you would use liquid. Also when it comes to validus and Tesla there aren't any features that just bog down performance, however they're still very feature rich, liquid just takes the performance part even further by adding tons of optimizations and only a few essential features that users love. Also, Validus is my only ROM with key features from a popular ROM called dirty unicorns, so if you like DU, you'll probably like this. That's how my ROMs work anyway.
is this rom based on layers?

Thanks, I will test IR when I have time.. don't use it anyways but it is always nice to have everything working
But I have more important issue... headphones are not being detected at all... and phone calls go through loud speaker. I did clean flash with everything formatted even sdcard but no help...
I've thought a lot about this and I've decided to only release, and maintain builds on Google plus from now on. If you have any issues or questions, or just want to say something, just comment on the release post. I'm going to ask a mod to close the thread, All builds will be announced here: https://plus.google.com/108827106611656999802

To developers,
Since I’ll be using Custom Roms, I have tried Nameless on my S3 GT-I9305, and on my S5 G900F KLTE Cyanogen, Lineage, R-Remix, Liquid-Remix, AOSP – all at different release of Android from LP to Pie, but never Viper.
Now, I run AOSP/GAPPSless from Brunowp8 and found it fully adapted to my needs with a significant improvement on battery drain.
I read carefully the verbatims and youtube videos I found on Viper and wonder if this custom Rom would meet my expectations at a level of AOSP ?
Can somebody try to convince me to flash Viper !!!

what about Battery and
does power menu option apear in setting or still missing
does screenshot works in power menu
perfect
What bother me:
1) Cast service is not working; it can see my tv and try to connect and fails. Is this a bug for pie? Previous versions are ok, only pie not.
2) On Venom customizations at Clock and date only clock can be customized. Date is totally missing.

I found out that installing custom kernel destroys the capability of Hotspot. I tried both FBS & SmartPack latest kernels with no luck, automatically turning off, but if from original kernel of viper os Hotspot is working normally.
Any solutions for this? I want to use a custom kernel because the phone becomes faster & snappier. Please help! Thanks. :good:
