Backup everything including settings, albums etc. - Huawei P10 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I'm kinda new to Android (around 6 months) and after updating my P10 several times with HWOTA, because I'm rooted, I would like to know, if there's a better backup solution.
HiSuite works well but not perfect. The albums aren't backed up (photos, videos and other albums). The system settings are also missing like some application settings.
Is there any easy and "perfect" way to backup (on PC) everything including albums, system and application settings, etc.?
So, when I install a new firmware and all my data is removed from phone, I want to restore ONE whole backup and everything is the same like before the update...this is what I imagine
Greetings,
Jannomag

Purchase Titanium Backup from the play store. It backs up all apps, including app data. And restores wonderfully.
For SMS, use SMS backup and restore.
Only LG has a full backup solution from what I know. Samsung is stepping up their game also. Don't know anything about Huawei.

The app called "Backup"

Is it an LG app or official google app? What does it back up? It says system settings, but is that app settings also?

It's an LG app, Google's cloud backup is integrated (except in the stock LG ROM, they ripped it out) in the settings rather than something in the drawer.
So the LG backup is the same as Google backup, but in the drawer instead of in settings??
Nope, different thing.
So will it back up my entire phone, so I can do a complete Phone reset/erase, and then restore everything I had... including apps......and I don't have to deposit all my personal information onto a Google server?????
No idea, don't use a stock ROM. Have you thought about maybe trying it?
I would expect it not to be great though, generally you need root for that and stock apps don't tend to be made with that in mind.
LG's backup app does not restore apps, or any wi-fi passwords
just restores contacts and messages.
the LG Backup App seems to be (a modified?) Sprite Backup - can anybody confirm this?
Logo is the same, interface also seems to be almost the same and if you back up your data, it's stored in a "spritebackup" folder.
Also backing up the app itself with Titanium Backup creates files which are called ".com.spritemobile.backup.lg-........"
Has anyone tried freezing/disabling the O2x "backup" app? I disabled both packages:
com.spritemobile.system.backup
com.spritemobile.backup.lg
But the darn thing still starts up. Strangely "com.spritemobile.backup.lg" is listed as part of the dialer app.
Also, I've noticed that if I force stop the backup app, the phone will lose its cell connection briefly.
I've no idea why LG integrated backup with the dialer, but it's irritating!

[Q] Full Backup and Restore

I recently discovered the wonderful backup and restore tools for WP7 and was able to use them to backup my Lumia 900 when I lent it to a friend and successfully restore it when I got it back, perfect!
My main phone now, however, is a WP8 8X and it's having some troubles. HTC have helpfully suggested I reset the phone to factory settings..
I obviously don't really want to do that just yet as I don't want to lose four months of app data and game saves etc.
Is a full backup and restore in the works for WP8? Or does it backup the game and app date properly with the regular SkyDrive backup?
I'm thinking things like my Cut the Rope game saves and the various custom news lists I've set up in Weave, will I lose them?
Thanks for any help you can offer!

Microsoft built in a app for backup but, it seems to backup everything BESIDES app settings (my accounts where there but, just had to put in passwords), Not sure why Microsoft did that but, it works... It will restore accounts and mark all your apps that you own(from the last backup) to start installling.
I am still upset about the backup not restoring my games (yea, I had all the achievments on Cut the rope and was almost at the end, no way I will go through every level again) with plenty of other games....grrr... Not sure why they did tha...
Otherwise there is NO 3rd party app that does backup. In a nut shell, there is no current way to backup your save games on Windows Phone 8.
I had a HTC 8x that just went off and never turned back on, so I had to test this...and still are upset a month later...
Thanks for the info (and apologies for the really late reply!), such a shame as it's looking like I might have to switch phones and while a lot of stuff can be brought back or re-set up I'll lose the game data and I've since found out that what is backed up can only be restored during the set-up of the phone before WiFi is connected.
Absolute madness!

Any good Backup apps which don't require root??

I can do without rooting my phone, BUT, it seems there are NO good apps to backup your phone if you're NOT rooted!
For me, the most important thing, is to backup your APPs, APP data, call logs and SMS files. Other media files can EASILY be transferred to your SD card or PC. If you want to preserve the way you set up your icons on your different screens, you can even use NOVA launcher, which will restore your screens to the previous state! :good: There is an APP that can backup call logs and SMS Files, but I haven't found one that backs up APPs and the APP data. A lot of people boast about how great Helium is, but I don't see it! Every attempt I make at backing up the (allowed) apps, Helium freezes!! I even paid for the "premium" edition, and it's still ain't worth a crap!! Tried a number of fixes, but nothing!!
Has anyone found an alternative that will backup APPs and APP data, other than Helium, which doesn't require root???
I've got a Samsung Galaxy S6 (Verizon), which I really don't want to root, but if I don't, backup options seem to be non-existent!

Samsung Account didnt back most things

Updated yesterday to Pie from Lollipop. Did a Samsung and Google Backup, since i was not rooted to use titanium for apps and settings.
after restoring though it seems lots of things are missing. I got all apps restored, but most settings and app data are gone. Good thing i got a cloud sync, from ones that support it, like viber/whatsapp and my expense tracker app. But lots of things have gone missing. I copied the entire filesystem (the part that is available without, rooting at least). Maybe i can get something back?
Most importantly i'm missing my samsung notes data, calendar entries that were stored on phone (google calendar entries got synced back succesfully), and camscanner data. I forgot to sync that last one to the cloud. Also been missing save game progress from the games i got installed
Also novalauncher layout got wiped. I even made sure to create a backup, but after the restore it wasnt on the options. If the backup file is not stored on the rooted part of the filesystem, maybe i can get it back from the full disk copy ive made
Will post once i remember something else of importance.

How do I use odin and backup and restore my content?

Can someone assist me with a question I have about backing up and restoring all my content? I have an issue where my screen has stopped going black when I make a call. No issue with my proximity sensor when I run the diagnostics and I installed 3rd party apps for the proximity sensor with no luck still. Erased my devlik cache, rebooted etc no luck. So researching this issue seems I need to try erasing my data and resetting the phone back from scratch.
I have odin and my firmware downloaded to change to xsa. Before I do this I need to ensure I dont lose any of my data like pics, apps loaded and configuration for the apps etc etc. What is the best method to do this? Can I just run the Samsung Smart switch to my pc and back it up there? If I change firmware and try to restore via samsung switch will that still be ok or will it cause issues restoring my content?
I used the Smart Switch app and backed up my content onto my sd card. It worked perfectly, every app (except some Samsung apps and Whatsapp) got backed up together with their settings. Also my photos and videos (also the downloaded files) and even the galery settings were backed up. The backup and restore processes took around an hour for 30GB each.
Whatsapp needs its own backup on google drive, Samsung knows this and this is the reason why Smart Switch won't back it up - but the WhatsApp folder on your internal memory is backed up by Smart Switch.
Some app settings weren't working for me, especially mail and logins. But I didn't lost any data.
