PIN number wrong? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

I'm currently using finger print and PIN number combo for my security settings.
Issue I have is apparently my PIN number is wrong ( been using same 4 digit one for decades), although I can gain access to the device now I can't remove or change finger print or pin settings as it asks for PIN number.
Any solutions?

Edit. Managed to use Samsung's find my device to remove PIN number. Funny I how it forgot my PIN number though.

Hi any chance you can tell me how you removed the pin via find my phone?
I am having the exact same issue- as my pin number which I have used for several years all of a sudden became incorrect!!!
I read on a post to lock my phone via the find my phone and this will give me an option to enter a new pin code....unfortunately it did not and now my phone requires me to put in the pin code to access it (which of course it says is incorrect)- now I can't use fingerprint at all....please please help.

You can log into your Samsung account on a computer with the "Find My Mobile", once logged in, on the right hand side click "more", then scroll down to "unlock my device".

[Q] I can't unlock my phone!

Hi guys. I have a problem a bit similar to the ones I read earlier but my problem is that I entered my PIN code and phone didn't recognize it. Now I should have an option to enter PUK code and everything would be fine, but I don't have that option. My screen says: "Take a look at the manual or contact with your service provider" (something like this, my phone language is Polish so I may translate something not correctly). I did take a look at the manual but there was nothing that could solve my problem so I'm asking you, members of xda community, is there any way to solve this problem without taking phone to my GSM provider?
If you are using custom rom try full wipe maybe it would hep
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
It didn't work, but it turn my phone language into english so I can write what it says:
"SIM card is PUK-locked."
"Please see the User Guide or contact Customer Care."
If you inputted a incorrect PIN for too many times the SIM card will lock up and require the PUK to reset the PIN failure counter - that much the phone is actually doing right.
If you don't have a possibility to enter the PUK then all you can do is to see a service point of your mobile operator to have the SIM card resetted.
There's pretty much nothing you can do as that's a security function of the GSM card and not the phone or the OS.
EDIT: Any chance entering **05*<PUK Code>*# or **05*<PUK Code>*<New PIN>*<New PIN confirm># works? (in case you can get to the dialer)
I can get to the dialer, but I didn't know that I can enter PUK there, I'll give it a try and write either it worked or not.
EDIT:

The second method worked! Thanks! When I use this first method it says that is either connection problem or MMI code is invalid.

You can reset the lock using your email id and password. The option shows up when you enter wrong code 5 times.
2945#*970# to SIM lock/unlock menu. but i dont know how to use it

Help! Locked out of my phone!

Its pretty hopeless but maybe will be able to help me.
I think I tried to unlock my phone with a fingerprint with a finger that wasn't registered. Although I think it was. And the phone just cannpt be unlocked using any of the 3 fingers I was regestered with. It immediately going to the PIN screen, which I don't think I have. It gives me the option to reset with google account, but I cannot do it because I live in China and the VPN is off. Of course I cannot turn it on because I can't go into my phone.
Tried with Android device manager, didn't have my samsung account sync.
Is there any way I could reset it in other way?
If not, If I do factory reset will it erase all the previous settings and just give me to Re-setup my phone?
Thank you all...:crying:

That's what all shoplifters say. Your only option is samsung. Gotta show them proof of purchase.

I understand what you mean. But If I was a shoplifter I probably would not need to recover my data or photos. Ill just directly do factory reset.
Samsung here In china is useless. Any way I did already factory reset, Now have differen't problems.
Im very pissed at Samsung that has this insane bug that can just make the phone useless, i've used it with no problems for a week or so, all of the sudden, just lock my out , and Fuking China doesn't have google to help me recover..

Why don't you have your password? You have to type it in twice whenever you set finger prints for your lockscreen
Can't you just reset your google account pw on your pc, then unlock your phone with your google account?
After I got out of a long hot bath, i tried to unlock with my thumb print numerous times unsuccessfully, had to unlock by backup pin, which I had forgotten...thought i was outta luck, but luckily I was able to unlock via my google acct.
Honestly though...i tend to agree with Ambervals6...that's what shoplifters say lol

Actually I don't remember that I had the option to set the PIN. But I always do the same one. Now using MX4 Pro, and it works great, Probably my unit had a huge bug that waited to be exploited..
About google, I've explained, If I was not in China I could have unlocked, but my astrill VPN was not running, and I didn't setup samsung account which apperantly was stupid.
I've already bought the "package disabler" from playstore and disabled all the bloat including this..
Any way, i've got very unlucky, today will bring it to samsung service center.
You can install custom recovery I forgot where it is but you can use adb in the recovery to delete fingerprint and passw files and then any password you type will unlock the phone

Hm good idea, but the HK version SM-N9200 still doesn't have root. So couldn't do it.

Many international hotels have internet access which bypasses the Great Firewall. If you were to go there you wouldn't need a VPN....
Unable to access Note 5
Similar issue; unable to access my Note 5 with biometrics, password or Google account (even after resetting Google password). Absolutely ridiculous! I do, on some attempts, see a message that pops up stating, "bootstrap failed" but unsure if that's related to the issue.
I need help to access my phone asap WITHOUT resetting it!!!

To install a custom recovery, the phone doesn't need to be rooted.

Pin2 help!

So phone won't send text messages suddenly and having found some advice the fixed dialing is on. But to turn this off I need the pin2, but I've no idea what this is or where to find it!
Can anyone help?
Mine wouldn't send texts after a recent update. I force closed the messaging app in settings and it worked fine after that
Pin 2 is usually on the SIM card, so you'll need to ask your provider what the code is

No, pin 2 is the PUK code and that code should be on the plastic card that holds the simcard incase you fail the pin1 3 times.

Actually its not. You have 2 PIN's on a SIM usually, and PIN2 doesn't get printed on any of the supplied details with the SIM.
For each PIN, there is a corresponding PUK and PUK2.
And then you discover it's a network problem!

Forgotten pattern to start Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Need to recover data. Options?

Hi all,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 SM-N960F.
I use fingerprint recognition, face recognition and a pin number so hadn't needed my pattern for a while.
My battery ran out. I charged the phone, restarted, it asks for pattern and after a number of failed attempts, have 1 left. Before I try one last pattern and have to do a factory reset (and lose all my family holiday snaps over the last year), is there any way I can get into the phone and recover the data?
There is a dearth of rubbish and click bait on the web. But if anyone can help, I'm told it's XDA. I have a samsung and google account - both linked to phone, remote access, a backed up OS (but not photos), but can't connect - presumably because it has not booted up. Any help appreciated! - & no I haven't enabled any development options....
is it rooted, do you have twrp on it?
i am copying this from other website. you can try this method.
If your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network and it is linked to your Samsung account then you can unlock your device’s screen remotely from the Find My Mobile website.
Use any computer or mobile device with Internet access, open a web browser and go to http://findmymobile.samsung.com. Click on SIGN IN.
Click on MORE.
Click on UNLOCK MY DEVICE.
Enter your Samsung account password and then click on UNLOCK.
Depending on the network and the state of your device, this process may take a few minutes. You will receive a notification and the screen of your mobile device will be unlock.

>>Hi, no it doesn't. I can put it on, but I understand that you need to have USB debugging activated on the phone (which I do not recall ever doing) to be able to connect and remove pattern file. Happy to hear if that's no the case.

I don't think it would be possible sadly. You have not enabled USB Debugging so you can't flash anything. Also OEM Unlock is turned off. It doesn't work via remote control as the phone is not booted up pass the lock screen at least once. How can you forget your pattern ? Try to remember it or guess blindly, maybe you'll catch the correct one. Also if you do eventually get in again, turn on auto restart once a week. That not only helps to keep performance in top shape but it will ask for the pattern once per week when it auto-restarts so you won't forget it again.

Isn't it you need to enter pin number, not the pattern? Pattern is more secure than a pin?
