Can't decide which to get. I have my work SIM and personal. Would be cool to ditch that work phone that is S4 mini crying. DUOS of course have the advantage of 2 SIM and also I can use SD card if I want to. But what about OTA? I beviele 1 SIM model is getting updates faster? What concerns me most is battery life, 2 sims should drain battery x2 times if you are in bad location or it's more balanced? Now with S7E I get 3-5 hour SOT, depending on what I do and idle is not so good imo.
I hear that for the first time, i dont think that 1 sim models get faster updates

Both N950F and N950F/DS get the same software updates, it's CSC based now, so it really doesn't matter which model you buy anymore. The Single and Dual SIM will get exactly the same OTAs.
As for battery life, yes, your standby drain and SOT will be affected if you use 2 SIM cards on your Note 8. ESPECIALLY if you have weaker signal on one or both networks being used with the phone. In the Note 8 group, some users using 2 SIMs have reported around 3.5-4h of SOT, with AOD enabled, however as always your battery life will differ depending on your usage, location services and a ton of other factors, so do keep that in mind.

Ofc its a smarter choice, u can sell it easier afterwards....i also got the DUOS for the same price
I had a note 5 duel and I had many issues with apps sometimes not working as 2nd SIM was work only so I had banned internet from that SIM so all network activity was going via the 1st SIM.
Also you can not use 2 SIM and a ext sd at the same time. You can only use 2 SIM or 1 SIM and 1 ext sd.

One more question. If I use just 1 SIM card there will be no anoing notification or extra bars like 2 card is not inserted? Imo it should be like normal 1 SIM model because you can ad SD card to second slot. Never had or touched duos models so started to wonder

Hello,
I am looking for a dual sim adapter that I can use with my 3UK sim for HSDPA/3G data access and my Vodafone sim for texts and voice calls.
I do not mind cutting up my SIMs or having to restart my phone to switch between sims. I have heard that the "Simore Gold 1" sim works, but 70€ is too far out of my price range!
If anyone has any recommendations or experiences with dual sim adapters on the Diamond, that would be great
Many Thanks,
T

Do you have this card working? How do you change SIMs within the Phone application on Win Mobile 6.1?
That is a SIM cloner, which works only (I believe) with v1 sim cards (I have one myself). These went out of usage many years ago. There is no way to clone modern cards yet reported in the wild. Worse using SIM cloning software on a modern sim card may break your sim.
I don't have the information to hand, but it is out there. These SIM cloning kits are not a solution for modern, data enabled, SIM cards.
I've been closely following dual sim options since the release of tytn. I've bought many, and not had any work to my satisfaction. The only option that I have heard positively reported, for phone and data, is the simore gold.
I wouldn't! )
Just offering my humble opinion. I looked into the possibility of sim cloning some months ago as I have two sim cards and it would have been nice to be able to use both of them without going through the hassle of rebooting every time you want to switch.
I searched and searched for hours and found plenty of information (on XDA and other websites) and although I don't remember all of the technical details, it isn't possible at the moment unless you want to risk breaking your sim card (which sounds very likely from what I read).
I'm not sure what sim cards are used in India. I do know that the v1 sim cards can be cloned but (as mentioned in the previous post) they are pretty much out of use and have been for some time, so I would think that it is unlikely that you have a v1 sim card.
You can check out the articles here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIM_cloning and here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sim_card.
The first article says at the top of the page that it needs some clarification but it does discuss the sim cloning scene in The Bourne Supremacy (referring to an earlier post in this thread) and how long it would have actually taken if it were possible; 4-8 hours to extract the Ki and some knowledge needed of the SIM card's PIN (CHV1). (Citation needed for italicized text.)
It also mentions a 40% chance of damaging the card. Sorry, but those odds are a little too high for me!
The second article is a bit long and technical but might be helpful to you. (I started to get a headache about halfway through it! ROFL)
I'm seriously considering the Simore Black 1 (v6). Can anyone confirm that 3G/HSDPA data and "3UK" sims work with this adapter?
Thanks

When looking at these type of devices you need to consider very carefully what you consider "compatible".
Advertisers may consider the ability to make 2G phone calls as compatible. These devices may not allow 3G calls, or data.
I'm toying with a simore gold, because it will be worth it if it works with 3G and data. I'd like some more anecdotal evidence that it does before I commit, at that price, though.
I'm done with buying cheap dual sim adaptors. I've got a desk draw full of them that are unsuitable for my needs.

any official methods to root this phone ?
Hi! Glad to see the Ace Duos is being tackled by developers It is starting to show up in Germany these days, with the first shipments available end of next week... I alread ordered mine and am looking forward to whatever you come up with here (esp. root)
I see you are in India; while researching about the Ace Duos I realized, that there seem to be two different versions in India: The I589 esp. with a weaker camera and weaker processor, less storage space and Froyo - and the S6802 with 5MP cam, GB, 3GB storage etc. which is what we are going to see in Europe. Both came out this year in India?

The I589 is a duos with CDMA+GSM sim.
While the S6802 is a GSM+GSM version.....
And I589 came out in Q1 this year, and the S6802 came out in Q2
Does that mean the I589 has one sim for phone and one for data only? If that is the case, why, with lesser specs all around, is it the same price or even more expensive than the S6802?
I589 has one SIM for GSM and the CDMA is usually built in (CDMA connections usually do not have a SIM)
both can be used for calls.
data on any one of them but one at a time not both simultaneously
S6802 (on which i intend to develop) is GSM + GSM
you can use data on both but 3G can be used only on one sim at a time ;p
i am looking to develop for the S6802 only.
if there are too many requests for the I589 i may support that too
I suppose the need for the S6802 will be much bigger, because it will be available all over the world; also, it seems the I589 runs Froyo, so that would be completely different things...

It has two sim slots, a CDMA and a GSM sim
ANd it is priced at around the a 1000INRs lesser than the GSM GSM version
Ace duos wont get ICS. It uses an Armv6 processor too and Samsung wont provide ics to those type of devices. Only Ace 2 has been confirmed to get ics.

Can some give a quick review of the GSM+GSM version of the device? Battery life, camera, audio quality and performance. Would be buying one in a few days.
Also since this one is available only in white colour, does the colour look as if it would fade over time?

the hardware supports active dual sim but TRAI policy in india does not allow so it's blocked in the firmware.
in active dual sim there are two radios and both can run simultaneously (i mean gsm radio not fm radio)

Does this apply to both the S6802 and the CDMA-Version? Would that mean that theoretically Active Dual SIM could be unblocked by a modded Firmware?

yes... even applies to Galaxy Y duos
any phone which allows you to access internet from sim2 while calling on sim1 means that hardware allows active dual sim
all galaxy duos phones support this feature... so if you get what i mean
Well, as far as I understood it so far you cannot use Internet while talking... If you are online and someone calls on the other SIM, Internet is disconnected and you can accept the call. Also there is a function to forward a call from the other SIM while talking, using call forward and then you can use conference call-functions of the same line to talk to both. This sounds more like there is only one radio unit and the other functions are handled via network services...
my friend has a galaxy y duos (gsm + gsm)
in settings there is option "allow data on other sim when on call"
Considering to upgrade from Note 2 (and possibly Note PRO 12.2) to Note 5. What does the Dual-SIM feature mean in the 64GB Note 5? Does it allow me putting the SIM cards from two different countries and then it will switch the card usage automatically?

it means two phones in one!
make and receive texts. /phone calls.... from both... sims
from any country sim or different providers
dual sim=== 2 phones in one
usually can only use one sim... calling or text out at a time
but can receive both at same time!
like a train with two engines at each end..... drive one way... then walk down to other end to drive other way!
Thanks. Do I have the choice to use software to turn off either sim? Don't know if it will be overwhelming.

You get charged for what you use as usual. If you don't use sim B then you won't get any charges. Just remember to disable data for the sim you don't want to use. If you make or accept calls, send sms or use data from sim B while in country A you will be charged and will probably pay roaming fees (some networks allow free roaming in other countries).
Hi.
I want to know that both sim slots have capacity to handle 4g LTE. If inserted.
No one knows..
We don't know, simply because reviewers never touch the dual sim subject. Is it a Dual Sim Full Active like the Honor 8 or is it the usual StandBy - Hybrid, what antennae will be used for what purpose and so on. I will have the 3t on Monday, and as it happens I have two LTE sim cards available to me, i could look into it.
You can switch between each aim depending on what aim and purpose. As seen in settings and in all ui, messages etc

Hi,
Just wondering whether this is phone related or telco related. In my advance option I dont have the LTE high speed mode option to enable as below like my friend have. Is it my phone problem or sim card problem
mine
my friend
After comparing with others seems like if we insert 2 sim cards then we wont have the option but if only single sim then will be getting that LTE high speed mode options. just weird

What does this LTE High Speed Mode on Huawei phones do, what does it mean exactly?
I have this option on my Huawei Mate 20 X EVR-L29.
I was hesitant to turn it on for awhile but I finally decided to try it, it seems to drain the battery a slight bit but the data does seem slightly faster

It's not a carrier option.
I am in the US, Huawei technology is banned here, it's products aren't sold here by carriers so there's no carrier programming on them, I am currently on AT&T's unlimited prepaid plan & prepaid plans don't get many if any carrier options here in the US.
I think it's just an option that comes stock in this phone.
