System application deletion and downgrade with 5.4.0.1 - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

s there a way to erase the system application at version 5.4.0.1 at the moment? Is there a possibility to downgrade 5.4.0.1 to 5.4.0.0? help me

Re downgrade 5.4.0.1->5.4.0.0 there are contradicting claims: while the Fire 7 seems to work afterwards, downgrading an 8 HD resulted in a hard brick. Bootloader analyses have started. See https://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/general/fireos-5-4-0-1-t3663075

How to re-root on 5.1.1?

Hi everyone,
I idiotically forgot to disable OTA updates when I root my Fire back when it was on 5.0.
The update has removed the root, but the tablet is still functional. Is there a method to be able to root this again? Fire OS is starting to get on my nerves as it's severely limited.
At the moment its not possible to root 5.1.1 if it was installed as a over the air update

Are the OS firmware signed as happens with IOS?

I am going to buy another fire 7 and I would like rooting from 5.3.1.0 with this new device too

You will need to start from scratch as there is no way to restore a full nandroid backup to this device (bootloader ≥ 5.1.x).
I meant if there is way to downgrade 5.3.2 to 5.3.1 forever.

OTA updates can be permanently blocked on 5.3.1 if that is what you are asking. The other option is to spin up a pre-rooted 5.3.1 build with OTA blocked (as has been done with other Amazon devices) but would require developer support as a toolkit has not been released for this device. Believe that would also require an exploitable bootloader vulnerability (ie: signature forging) which we obviously don't have.
well, I hope doesnt have problems and can do the same thing (rooting) and after that flashing cyanogenmod to the new device. I received it the next week so I wish than Amazon doesnt update its firmware to 5.3.3 yet...

If it does come with with FireOS ≥ 5.3.2.1 consider a refurbished unit from Amazon Warehouse. I have purchased several representative models from various generations. Aside from packaging all were indistinguishable from new and arrived with older firmware.
thanks

Need 5.3.1 Firmware

Does anyone have the 5.3.1 Firmware that I can download? Also how can I downgrade to 5.3.1 in order to obtain root?
If you are on FireOS 5.4.0.0 you can downgrade to 5.3.2.1. If you are on FireOS 5.4.0.1, you CANNOT downgrade at all.
So no chance for rooting then?

At the moment there is no root. But they just sold a lot of tablets and are coming out with a new HD 10. So maybe sometime in the near future, maybe not.

Have not seen a definitive response from someone who has gone through the process on a 7th gen. If bootloader builds differ the device will brick.

Do not allow the device to update. You can unlock the bootloader and root: take a look at this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/development/unlock-fire-t3899860. Fire OS 5.3.2.0 on the Fire 7 (5th gen.) is a rather special version. It is the earliest version to still work with Prime Video, and the last version to allow you to enter bootrom mode by holding the left volume button down when you plug in the USB cable. The latter is useful as it allows the bootloader to be unlocked and the device rooted without opening the case. Once you have unlocked you can update to the latest Fire OS by flashing a zip of the OS (with bootloader files removed: search this forum for a download link) through TWRP after booting into recovery mode.
