Hi
Is there a way to cut an image by selecting what you want and then pasting it on another image? I can't seem to find any info relating to the Note 8

There is a app called Picsay in the play store
Hi thanks for the reply. I thought you could use for instance the lasso tool and copy cut out to clipboard and then paste on another pic without additional third party apps.
you can lasso and share directly to certain apps, but the clipboard is not one of them, the work around would be to share to Samsung note app then select and hold to copy to clipboard, from there you should be able to paste it into any app which will accept it (there are very few apps that will accept pasting of images, the clipboard edge app is indispensable if your doing alot of this stuff)
Another option would be to share directly to your image editing app and then insert other image underneath.
The easiest way: display picture on the screen, pull out the s-pen, click smart select on menu, select part of picture with pen, pin to screen. Load your second picture, properly position your pinned picture, take screen shot. I'm sure there are many other ways using picture editors and stamp functions.
in case you might find it useful, Autodesk Sketchbook will allow you to composite the smart select directly over an existing session/image as a new layer via the share button in smart select. It will use the active sketchbook session (last opened document) and is the only one in my collection of sketching/note taking apps that allows this behavior. Its a pretty decent sketching app too.

Just figured it out if you're still interested. No 3rd party app or s pen needed. If you have both images saved to your gallery, open the main image. Then open the 3 dots (more options) in the upper right of the screen. Select "open in photo editor pro". Select "decoration" icon. Then select "images" and that will open up the gallery in bottom half of the screen for you to select the other image you want to add to the image you're in now. Hope this helps

How do you "pin to screen"? In my old Note 4 a few years back I could do this as you explained but in my new N8 it seems the option is not there.
I also made with the workaround described 2 posts back, but the option of pin to screen was much faster and I don't seem to find it anymore.
Edit: just to clarify, the "pin to screen" option is available if I use the rectangle smart select, if I use the lazo (which I use to crop a photo) then the pin to screen is not shown, this was available in Note 4, I don't see why removing it!!!

Are you setting a picture as your wall paper? if this is the case try this out:
- Go to pictures and video from start menu (if you have it placed there or your could just browse thru your phone and locate the "picture and video icon")
- once you have selected the picture you want to use as your wall paper click on the menu icon on the lower right hand side of the screen.
- it says there "Set as Today's Background"
- once you do that it would have a small box (sort of a magnifying glass) that would show what part of the picture could appear on your screen.
- underneath it would be the transparency level of the picture. I usually use 10% but this would depend how transparent you want the picture to be.
- Voila... your picture is not that transparent any more...
I found this out when i was doddling with my phone...
Hope this helped you out.
I often send pictures to my friends; especially one person. Is there an app or patch to the Sprint picture viewer (or any viewer) that would add "Send this to Joe" to "Send this to a contact" and then automagically do it without all the normal clicking and searching and stuff?
Thanks
Yeah, in Manilla (touch flo 3d interface) go to pictures, hit the desired one, when it's full screen tap the screen, a context menu will appear, hit the envelope icon (3rd from left to right), choose your method of delivery. If you have any problems, post back.
This is for the HTC Album application
Yes, thank you, thats what I've been doing but there's still a lot of steps. After ten or twenty pics it gets aggravating. I meant being in album or camera, tapping or holding down the stylus and a "Quick Send" menu pops up.

Tap one and it's on it's way.
You could also install file explorer extension, check "preview image" and you'll see thumbnail of the file in file explorer, then in the context menu click send. Again brings sms/email and other options
Sorry I can't think of anything else
Thanks. It was just an idea. Maybe I'd better learn how to program.
I have been searching for two days for a Photo Viewer app for Android 1.6 that has kinetic scrolling for albums.
Astro file manager has a built-in photo viewer that has a thumbnail ribbon at the bottom that works with kinetic scrolling action. And that is way cool, but I want to be able to scroll the full-size photos as well.
I think a couple of years ago the first-gen iPhones had this feature in their album viewer, may be wrong about that.
I have a G-1 and a MT3G that I would like to be able to view albums with a feature like this.
Would appreciate if anyone could point me in the right directions.
Has anyone seen anything like this? I found a version of HTCLay CSDI I think that has a cube that opens the gallery in a sort of kinetic preview, and it's the closest I've found so far. But it's not fullscreen.
Can someone help me out with this? Maybe mention if I'm on the right track, or if I need to be looking for something completely different?
One of the guys at work was showing off pictures on a larger device with gorgeous kinetic scrolling. I had severe envy yesterday.
What photo viewer app are you using?
Never really felt the need for anything like this. By "Kinetic" & "ribbon" you mean it shows them side-by-side at the bottom? I use Astro, and I love the photo viewer in it, but when I'm just looking at pictures, Gallery always does the job for me.

Astro has the ribbon at the bottom. 'Kinetic' is a term to describe the scrolling effect that you swipe across a field with your finger and it moves, and keeps on moving depending on how hard you swiped.
If you open a picture in a folder with multiple images with Astro, you can see the contents of the folder in the ribbon at the bottom of the current picture. If you don't see the ribbon, just touch at the bottom of the screen and it appears. Swipe on the ribbon and it will move with the 'Kinetic' effect.
It moves faster and for a longer time depending on how hard you swiped it. This allows you to move through the contents of a folder rapidly, which is especially useful for large folders.
Astro does allow you to swipe the actual full-screen image as well, but not 'Kineticly'. No matter how hard you swipe, the image just moves one at a time.
I'm looking for an application that allows Kineticly swiping the full screen image to move throught the pictures rapidly.

OHHHH! I see what you're saying now.
No idea. I think most Eclair ROMs do this in the default gallery, but I'm not sure. Other than that I wouldn't know anything, sorry.
Flashed CM5 test 3. NICE Gallery in there.
Kinetic album thumbnails, Nice swiping on the fullscreen photos.
I'm happy now.
search photo slide in the market
I want to make few folders or labels if possible with apps shortcut inside it, is it possible?
daily use>few apps inside this folder
gps> 4 apps inside this folder
photo
games
education
kids
multimedia
etc
Also I would like to rename the apps shortcuts which have long names, is there a way to do that?
Basically I want to remain quite organized on my home screen, as of now I have to browse a long list to reach the app or place the shortcut on 1 of the home screen but then I forget on which home screen the app is?
Sure,
Long press on your home screen, then folder (new folder - long press on it -> edit -> chose a name/icon). Then go in your app drawer long touch on the app, and finaly drag the shortcut in the folder you created.
Wao!, I didn't even know long press existed on blank screen, I did what you suggested & that solves my issue now I can organize my apps in a better way.
Thanks

Yw, just change the topic title as [Solved].
I can recommend Simi folders, its free and it allows you to customize your folders a bit. Also gives nice launcher options. like and iphone popup or transparent background etc.

I don't think I see it anywhere on any review
and no reviewer ever mentioned about how great smart select can extract the text just like note 4?
is it me or it's gone?
I know I can do copy paste using spen on the unselectable text where finger can't do copy
but it's just more steps
andddddd the multiple smart select is gone too!!
I'm not getting mine until Sept 11th
Its not gone, its in the little pop-up menu that comes up for the s-pen.

you mean when you hover the spen pretty close to the screen?
or when you detached the spen and get pop up menus?
The menu that pops up when you pull out the pen, or touch the onscreen pen icon (if youve already closed the menu when it opened itself up upon removing the pen from the phone).
oh what you mean is the smart select
I was asking about the text extraction on the smart select rather than how to access the smart select
it's on note 4
several people confirmed that it's gone and no more multiple smart select to be combined on one scrapbook

it is really a shame! this year they introduce the scrollable screen cap, yet they just remove the multi screen cap? why on earth can't they just keep both? probably all in the name of "no-one uses it" :crying:

omg you're right
that multiple smart select is gone too
it's a pity if they decide to remove it because "no one uses it"
I love to group several pics in one scrapbook with description on each photo
is there an alternative way of saving several images in one scrapbook
or use s note and manually add photo one by one?
So we don't have text selection for an selectable text?
You can use Optical Reader to get text from images. I know it's not ideal, but it works.
It seems to only work from camera....

It is sad that we don't have the powerful OCR feature in smart select where one could 'read' text from pictures which would then be editable.
Smart select has been downgraded by Samsung and that is a real pity.
Wish someine from Samsung gets this feed back and does something about it
