Can someone please extract the Note8 startup/bootanimation screen. I'm looking for the black "Samsung Galaxy Note8 Powered by Android" with the all black & white scheme for my newest Galaxy Note wallpaper. Call me boring, but I love the factory OEM minimalistic look. Obviously I'm not going to root my devices anymore so here I am begging you - my XDA buds.
If anyone can either help me or point me in the right direction I'd truly appreciate it!
crypt .qmg packages
I found the .qmg packages for extraction. They "used" to contain the images I'm looking for - can anybody extract them for me please. I could PM you and if you could return the unzipped contents back to me I'd really appreciate it!
Please let me know one way or another, THANK YOU in advance.

Extracted and Attached.
I hope the attached file is where you looking for. This file only will show up before booting your device up. It is located in the param partition. You also be able to get the file by your self when typing this on your device in terminal emulator for android.
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/sda5 of=/sdcard/up_param.tar bs=2096
You need to root for this and after you have it done, you can use a file extractor like 'rar' or 'root explorer' to extract the .tar file from your sdcard. You need to get the logo.jpg file.

There are two files in frame-work-res.apk/assets/images called android-logo-mask.png and android-logo-shine.png. These are what you play with.

I would use the one from your current rom, then put your images but keep them the same name as the ones in the zip, I think that the problem lies in the .DS_Store and the desc.txt. They are probably looking for specific images with specific names. The images need to be 320x480
tried this to no avail. replaced the images with mine in the same size and with the same names still no go. these are the images i want to use http://www.4shared.com/file/189292613/ebadfd8d/image.html if anyone could help please. would love to be able to just flash an update to any eclair rom. i am currently running the eclairxrom.
Try putting this in /system/media

Thanks for your help but still just a black screen. Can't figure out what I am missing. There has got to be something I am not doing somewhere.
..
..
Heres one I did. It's animated but it goes so fast you practically miss it anyway...
Couldn't get a gif preview up.
I got a few more I made but I wanted to share this one. A good universal shutdown sequence.
Also just for reference, it seems the png's can so far be anything under a png 24.
I love the Android Scribble boot animations that GLa'DOS put together here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696193
I decided to create an "un-scribble" shutdown animation which is basically his work in reverse. I had to cut several "frames" to get it down to 26 images but it looks pretty good. It's attached as Scribble_shutdown.zip.
Martian21
Here is an i, robot shutdown sequence i made. I wish the picture was a little clear but it works.
Can i use the same animation for the Shotdown as for the Startsup?
I mean that both 26 png's
Would be nice to know that
Thank God for custom shutdown animations. Oh if anyone is looking for tutorial on how to do it check: http://www.phonebuff.com/2011/06/change-shutdown-animation-for-android/

The newest ROMs do not use this file format. They are utilizing the *.qmg files - not hackable. If you roll back to Froyo or Eclair you can use this type of shutdown.
I have a problem
Hi guys
In my phone the shutdown animations is in a diferetn location
the location is system/bin/shutdownanimation and i can run this as a script.
I renamed it to .bak and now it doesent show up wich is great but i cant replace another one i've tried as a .gif .qmg i've changed the permisions to be de same as the original animation but the new one never works HELP

HIT THANKS if u like
Here is how i make my own splash's if you want to make you're own
1.find an image u want.{must be 480x800!!-photoscape and gimp work for resizing and such}
2.use the splash flasher program(do not connect phone just use for conversion) to convert j-peg(whatever ur pic is)into an IMG file, should say custom.img.
3.rename file to splash1,(after should say splash1.img)place splash1.img and android info txt file into a folder and zip.(make sure u zip under store setting)only zip 2 files not folder containing files!
4.rename PG05IMG
ucan change second splash by changing png image in boot ani

Thank you very much, however, do you think you can edit the picture a little bit? It seems just a touch grainy, is that because of a size restriction? Either way, thank you very much. Could you make a version without "Rooted" at the bottom?

I would like help installing this as well. I have no folder on my sdcard for root. In my sdcard folder I do have a zip file called PG05img.zip. That is the same name as this file I just downloaded. If I put the downloaded file into the same folder as the other one wont it completely erase the other file?

Guys, the root just means not in any folder. Their are instructions in the OP and in another post on page 1.
Btw, chas, you want to remove the original PG05IMG.zip from your SD card. Every time you boot into hboot that will try and update on your phone. Best to remove it asap to avoid problems
named PG05IMG so bootloader sees it. U just put on root of sdcard not in any folder, ifu have another file with same name it won't work.

Attached are the files you've requested. This is not a flashable zip file, it's just an archive file containing the 2 files. Extract the zip and place the files in system/app with the right permissions. Good luck.
In the future, please use a title that describes your problem so that someone with a similar problem may find it when doing a search. "Really I need help!" does no one any good as far as searching goes.
Did anybody find a way to use zip files for boot animations rather than the qmg files?
I have tried replacing the "animation" file (located in /system/bin/) with many different files from different forums but still no luck. I always end up with no boot animation startup.
I even tried with the files (animation and bootanimation.zip) from treble Lineage GSI rom but still no luck (sigh)
If anyone knows a way please share your knowledge.
I believe this requires root so you can make the root directory read/write capable.

I appreciate your answer.
But what I'm looking for is a way to make native android boot animations work and not samsung proprietary ones. (the zip instead of qmg).
I went through posts like the ones you mentioned a hundred times while searching for what I needed.
I think no one has figured it out yet.
I wish I were a dev to knows how stuff works in coding world.

on samsung phones zip is just a flashable package that copies the animations(qmg) to the proper directory and sets permissions
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/themes/bootanimations-best-collection-t3780219
not sure what devices these work on but its just zip file with 3 folders with .jpg in it creating each frame of the animation. theres a text cue file with resolution and fps info.
samsung animation are much more difficult to make( need special software )

The zip file you mentioned is for aosp and lineage roms (or any rom that supports native boot animation).
There used to be something called native boot animation enabler for samsung phones back in lollipop and marshmallow days for samsung stock firmwares. This made it possible to use zips like the ones you mentioned as boot animation instead of qmg. But nowadays I can't find any similar trick. I think samsung changed a lot of stuff making it impossible to enable them in oreo and pie.
