App Opening/Closing Zoom Effect on third party launchers? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

So, I like the stock launcher but I'll always like Nova, what I hate however is the little zoom-in and out the wallpaper does even when setting the animation to something different.
Every launcher except Evie launcher does this, and Evie still does it on app close (just not app open)
Is there a way to get rid of it? I much prefer stock android app animations but they look weird with the zoom effect

Nova should keep system animations. You can go to looks and feels and change them accordingly. There is a MM option.

As I said that changes the app animation but doesn't remove the wallpaper zoom effect

What is the zoom effect? I don't notice any zooming except when I apply a wallpaper using the launcher... so I always use gallery.

The actual zoom animation. When opening or closing the app, the wallpaper zooms in and out

[Q] Low-res (bad quality) lockscreen wallpaper -- How to change it?

As you guys might have noticed, whenever you set a wallpaper using the default android gallery, it kinda compresses it and results in a low quality version of the pic as your wallpaper. I've found a workaround for this by using apps from the market to set my wallpaper with BUT all of those apps can only change my homescreen wallpaper and NOT the lockscreen wallpaper.
So my question is if any of you guys can tell me how to manually change my lockscreen wallpaper? I have a rooted device 2.3.5 btw. Thanks.
Menu-setting-display-screen display-lockscreen-wallpaper
No, I know how to change the lockscreen wallpaper. But like I've said, when you use that way, it lowers the quality of the picture you use. If I use a hi-def photo and set it as my lockscreen wallpaper, the quality loss is very obvious. Which is why I was asking if there was a workaround for this.
When you're about to change the wallpaper and the square box pops up, tap it and expand it.

no, that's not it either. regardless of how you crop it, if you use the default gallery app, the resulting wallpaper is compressed thus the quality loss
get a suitable hd wallpaper from the internet then save picture to gallery. When you set wallpaper to lockscreen choose gallery, find pic you have d/l and crop it accordingly. Remember to get the highest resolution wallpaper.
Hope the above helps

+1 to the question!!!
I wanna use the same wallpaper on the lockscreen & on the my launcher. I choose the picture, set it up as my wallpaper - in the laucher it's absolutely ok, but in the locksreen there are a lot of strange lines (bright & dark) over the wallpaper.
you need a wallpaper of atleast 1600*1000 resolution. If you can find one with an even higher resolution, better still.
Just follow instructions of my earlier post

Of course I have a high-res wallpaper!
But the quality is much worse on the lockscreen than on the launcher's homescreen.
Maybe light wallpapers are ok, but the dark (like mine) is laggy.
anyone knows where the default wallpapers are saved to? cant seem to find the default lock screen wallpaper (of the pen and notebook)...
low resolution for a purpose
do you think the lock screen uses a lower resolution for a reason. that screen basically is displayed for just a few seconds and kinda floats on top of an already high resolution main screen. just a theory that it's supposed to be lower quality graphic.
You can use Quickpic which is free on the market to set the lockscreen. I don't see any reduction of resolution.

again guys, the issue is not with the cropping or with the image quality i'm using. it's with android gallery app compressing the picture i want to use.
@holgalee
thanks, that was exactly what i was looking for!
How about WidgetLocker? A guy posted a screenshot of his completely black background that didn't have any of the ugliness many are reporting of. But it costs money, and i don't know how you feel about apps that cost money, but you're holding a device that cost almost $1000
same problem here.
tried to have a black background on the lockscreen.
tried with a 1200x1600 bmp, png and jpg...
always the same ugly green and black stripes
none of that with galaxy s1 and s2, just with the galaxy note
what can i do to have full black background? dont want to use crappy alternative lockscreen, want to use the native android lockscreen
It won't help with a 5500x3500 wallpaper as long as the default gallery app is compressing the image. It will still look like ****.

I had the same issue on my S2; completely stupid really. Now I have my lockscreen wallpaper automatically change when I modify my [active] wallpaper.
The Gallery app needs to be fixed.
It's still crap on the note 2, anyone who's found a solution?
If it is the black clipping problem? Note shows lockscreen wallpaper a bit darker than normal wallpaper so theres possibility you only notice it on lockscreen.
Found one that looks okay so i am using that

homescreen wallpaper

how can i set a homescreen wallpaper just like the lockscreen wallpaper?
it;s very annoying that it just cuts the pic and it seems that makes it very poor quality! i have tried all resolutios in pict including 2560x***, after it cuts it look bad. in lockscreen they all look amazing! is't there something i can do to just set all the pic like in lockscreen?

I know what you mean. I use QuickPic to put wallpapers.

Quickpic will break the lock screen wallpaper option I know because I couldn't set my lock screen wallpaper with Quickpic set as default handler. So if you have any third party apps that handle pics clear defaults and try using the OEM gallery app to set the wallpaper then you can go back to Quickpic or anything else that you use. If you want to change it again you will need to clear defaults all over again.

[Q] [WeUI] Homescreen & Lockscreen Wallpaper

Is there any way for me to set my own wallpaper for my homescreen and lockscreen without using ICS's crappy cropping tool?
I know there's an app for your homescreen, but when it comes to lockscreen I can only go into the Themes app and set it from there. Even then, it is majorly zoomed in and blurry.
If it still like GB MIUI, go to lockscreen wallpaper in themes app and hit menu button, choose from gallery and there bam!

OK, now it won't even show a crop tool. It just automatically does whatever it wants for the lockscreen wallpaper. When I try to change my homescreen wallpaper through this method it still uses ICS cropping.
Try the free app QuickPic- when you go to set your wallpaper, it should come up as an option alongside Gallery or whatever. It has its own cropping tool and recognizes your setting for wallpaper, i.e. non-scrolling (fixed) or scrolling (scaled across homescreens) and allows you to crop accordingly.
edit: I am on an AOKP-based ROM and the lockscreen option lets you choose which cropping tool to use- not sure if your ROM will allow this...

[Q] How to stretch the wallpaper?

I have the Atrix HD, and the one thing that constantly irks me is I cannot figure out how to stretch the wallpaper to fit the entire screen. Could someone inform me?
I have no clue how your doing that. I can't get mine to not be cropped.

Try "mulipicture live wallpaper" from the play store to set you wallpaper with. Providing your wallpapers are the correct resolution, it will set them up properly without cropping.

It doesnt make sense Moto's launcher makes you crop it in the way it does considering there's no scrolling wallpaper and there's no landscape either

landscape mode is used when the phone is plugged into a dock. also other launchers have both those features

Didn't know about the dock. Obviously other launchers have the feature, but other launchers allow you to select non scrooling wallpaper and fit it accordingly.
Apex launcher redirects you to the gallery background set screen unless you install a background that came with a theme. i dont remember about nova launcher, but you still have to crop it on apex

[Q] QuickPic/HTC Sense: no portrait option for wallpaper

Hello,
Has anyone experienced a problem trying to set a wallpaper in portrait orientation from QuickPic? In my case, if I browse the gallery in QuickPic, find the picture and try to use the HTC Gallery (Sense 5.5, Android Revolution HD 53), it simply doesn't open. If I try to use QuickPic itself, it only allows me to crop using a fixed landscape cropper.
Please give me some ideas how to get rid of this annoyance.
Thanks!

Yeah. I get the same thing. Unfortunately I think it's an issue with QuickPic. I think its default is to assume that the homescreen is to use scrollable wallpaper, so when you swiped through your different homescreens the wallpaper would shift along with it. That's how it was on my previous phone (HTC Inspire). And it's not actually setting it to landscape by rotating the dimensions. It's setting the width at 2x the screen size. The screen dimension of my Inspire was 480x800. If I wanted to use scrollable wallpaper, I would choose an image 960x800.
Since the m7 doesn't use scrollable wallpaper in the stock launcher (and I don't think there's an option to turn that on, but I could be wrong), QuickPic kinda screws that up. So it's better to use the stock Gallery app to set wallpaper. It will set the correct aspect ratio with the crop tool. Open the Gallery app, find the pic you want to use then set as Wallpaper (not QuickPic Wallpaper). Or you can go into System Settings>Personalize>Wallpaper, Select Wallpaper from Gallery.
On a related note, some 3rd party launchers allow you to set the wallpaper to be a single screen or scrollable. I use Go Launcher and if I have it set to single screen, I can use QuickPic to set the wallpaper and it sets the crop tool with the proper portrait aspect ratio.
Thanks, sharksfan7! I figured it might be something of the sort. I'll send a note to the QuickPic developer, maybe he/she will be able to sort this in a future update.

However, that brings me to my second question: the stock Gallery app does not open if I browse to the pic in QuickPic and try to set it as a "Wallpaper". Any idea what might be causing this? Anyone?

Noticed that as well. Again, probably a QuickPic issue. If you have Google+ installed you'll probably see a "Wallpaper" option using Google Pictures in that Set As list as well. If I select that, the whole thing just crashes.
If you go directly into the Gallery when you want to set wallpaper it works as it's supposed to.

Strangely after reading this, I went to QuickPic to have another go at setting a wallpaper and the 'crop box' was in portrait mode! Either coincidental or random update or I just chose the right picture!!
