Is there a way to remove the SIM icon from the messages / dialer?
It seems silly they keep it there for those using a SIM with a SD card.

i agree i hate that
There's a way to switch the phone from dual SIM mode to single SIM mode but i can't remember which service menu off hand... I know switching the libsec-ril to one from a single SIM model will do the trick but I'm positive there is a setting you can use as well. I'll try to find it.

While trying to install a dual SIM card on my Tilt, I noticed a two-way toggle switch that would hide behind the SIM card when inserted. Anyone know what it's for?
The user's manual shows nothing.
That is probably the switch that lets the phone know the sim door is locked.
Ah, yes, yet another mystery of the universe is solved. Thanks.
Hi,
when I turn my diamond tells me Sim missing although it is inserted.
Does that mean sim is locked? How do I find out which operator has blocked the phone?
thank you
hmmm
You shoudnt be getting that at all - make sure its making contact - secondly try it in a few other phones and thridly do other sim cards work in your diamond?
i had the same problem, because the sim you can insert both ways.
check that you don't have the sim upside-down, the cut edge should be near the battery and not to the bottom, i hope you understand what i mean
Thank you very much.
the sim was not turned and I noticed I was!
Is it possible to copy the entire SIM card on the Tilt and have it put onto a new SIM card and possible have 2 phones ? The only posts I've seen is copying contacts.
depends on what the sim is i.e. provider but basically your number would be blocked by the network immediately as it will detect two sims using the same number, so the answer is no. Unless you switch one phone off while using the other one, but that defeats the object really
Thanks was just wondering if it was possible. I'm looking into the HTC Touch HD and was wondering if you can copy the entire sim incase my sim doesn't fit. ( which I don't think I'll have an issue )
Thanks
I have one sim that I wish to use for phones / text messages, and one that I wish to use for mobile data.
If I put either sim in on its own, it works fine.
If I put both in together, and set them so they are both on, the one that I wish to use for phone calls and texts does not register on its network (which is Three in the UK)
I am not sure what to do. Can the phone company have set it so it doesn't work in a dual sim setting?
Or have I just failed to understand what dual sim is?
Any help much appreciated!

Try interchanging the SIM, I mean just enter the right one on the left and the left one on the right. What you are saying shouldn't happen.
If possible try another 2 SIM to see if the problem is with the SIM or the phone.

OK thanks. I have tried it with another 2 sims and it works fine. So that means it's a faulty sim?
Is it possible the network won't allow dual sim, or should I just request a replacement?
Thanks

Before requesting a replacement just ask the network operator of that particular SIM that if they disallow Dual-SIM or not. If they don't allow using their SIM on a dula-sim mobile asking for a replacement would be pointless.
I am using 3 (UK) and Vodafone, no issues, so likely the sim

Hey guys,
This is sort of an odd question but I thought it would be worth asking anyway.
I recently bought this phone but then realised it's the single SIM variant. At the time of purchase I didn't appreciate there were two versions. I mean, even the manual says you can put a second SIM instead of the memory card.
Anyway as you can imagine this is very annoying because the shop won't take the phone back "just because". So I looked on eBay and I can buy the dual SIM variant SIM tray.
Do you think I can just replace the single SIM tray with the dual SIM tray and use two SIM cards like a champ? I guess the OS wouldn't recognise the second SIM, would it?
I'd be grateful if someone could shed some light on this issue and let me know what my options are (if any).
Cheers
I mean that is impossible, but you can try to ask a question to Nokia support, maybe

I think it's not possible, dual sims are being flashed with a different firmware version from HMD. Let us know.
Differeent rom flashed? Ok but then this must be because of the second imei that got to be written somewhere in a flash partition. Would the Android os-code be really that different?
I think it would not be possible not because of the different firmware or missing imei2 but because of a possibly missing sim2 slot connection
Check attached pictures of the different sim trays attached and an inside view of the sim slot!

The second IMEI exists!
Trying to type the code *#06# I've found two IMEI number for my TA-1004.
In Settings -> Network menĂ¹, there is SIM Cards section
The only test to do is to buy the dual sim tray and check if it works.
