I bought a used note 5 T-MOBILE 64 GB that was unlocked yesterday. My sim card was working fine. I installed TWRP recovery by ODIN and after installing it my phone boot-looped. So, I installed "no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip" file and rooted the phone with "BETA-SuperSU-v2.68-20160228150503.zip". After that the stock rom booted fine but I the phone turned on it gave the error that non-carrier sim was inserted and the sim did not work. I tried formatting the phone. Installed the nougat firmware updated it and the problem still persistes. Is there any way to remove Network lock? I would appreciate your help greatly
Are you on T-mobile now? I am, and when I called, they unlocked my Note 5 for free, and very quickly.

Hi everyone,
I've been using an SM-920T 64GB Galaxy S6 bought from T-Mobile last summer. I did a permanent unlock using the T-Mobile application and since July I've been using the phone on the AT&T network. I just rebooted my phone today like I always do and upon restarting I got an "Invalid SIM Card" and it brings up a SIM network unlock PIN window that I can dismiss or enter a code into. What is going on?
I'm running XtreStoLite Deo 2.4 if that makes any difference.
Also, does anyone have the T-Mobile Device Unlock apk that comes stock with the phone? This is how I unlocked the phone in the first place but I don't have that app anymore since I run a custom rom, and the play store won't let me download it because I don't have a t-mobile SIM card in the phone.
Thanks!
Well for the benefit of whoever has the same issue. I flashed back the stock ROM via ODIN, ran the T-Mobile Device Unlock app, it said Unlock Unsuccessful in big, but right below it said the phone has been unlocked permanently. I put in my AT&T SIM and it was working again. Then I flashed back my TWRP backup and the phone remained unlocked. The non-Tmo ROMs get the unlock popup when a foreign SIM card is inserted, so getting an unlock code should work, but I didn't want to wait 3 days to receive one.

Can you tell me what ROM you used? I have the g920T also, and bought it USED unlocked from ebay, but it had the FRP (factory reset protection) lock on it. I had my US cellular SIM card in it, even though I was stuck at the "enter your previous used google account on this device" and the SIM seemed to work (saw the LTE bars above).
But the only way for me to bypass the FRP was to flash to the ROM to stock (which I used the G920T tmobile ROM) and I got to the home screen but now it says "Invalid SIM card. Network locked SIM card inserted" just how you were saying.
When I try using the Tmobile unlock app, it says "Server not responding. Please try again later." .
Please help!
the phone originally came on 4.3 from eBay. its a T-Mobile note 2 the sim worked fine before I did what I did, just said invalid sim put an unlock code or cancel and continue using phone. so here is what I did I went from 4.3 to 4.1.2 flashed with Odin as well as cf auto root with it and I think it was at that point it gave me that "no sim inserted" I went to 4.1.1 lj1 just fine. I went to that firmware to unlock the phone but now the sim slot doesn't work anymore what should I do any help is very appreciated.
I flashed my sprint note 8 to a unlocked firmware, and it's using a tmobile sim.
After the news, I try to switch back. I flashed the firmware N950USQS2BQL9_N950UOYN2BQL9_SPR using ordin. But when the phone boots up, it's T mobile, with the splash screen and my tmobile app and EVEN a Device Unlock app.
So I took out my sim and tried flash with no sim inside, it's still T mobile. I don't have the original sprint sim card anymore. And the present of the Device Unlock app is driving me crazy, and I also scared that the ota will brick my phone.
Please, anyone know how to fix it?
Are you flashing using the app data file?
Do you have any other non-Tmobile SIM card to check if your phone locked itself to Tmobile?
You might have the device unlock app installed on your phone, but this doesn't mean the phone is locked to Tmob.
Insert a non-accepted SIM card as here: https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/network-locked-t-mobile-usa/
And let me know the message your phone displays.
Also, check your IMEI if it's recognized by T-mobile servers with their own service here: https://www.t-mobile.com/verifyIMEI.aspx
I have a fully unlocked Samsung Note 9 (N960U model) that I was using with Ultramobile which uses T-Mobile. I popped in my Simcard and phone rebranded it's self as a T-Mobile phone which is typical. I switched carriers and now with Straight Talk and using a Verizon simcard. Phone is still showing up as T-Mobile when it reboots and even has the T-Mobile bloatware.
I went on Sammobile and flashed the Verizon firmware using Odin and that did nothing as the phone still is showing as T-Mobile. I tried flashing the Unlocked firmware (XAA) and same story, once phone reboots, still shows as being T-Mobile. I even brought it to BestBuy and had them flash the Verizon firmware to no avail....
Is it permanently locked to T-Mobile even though the phone it's self is unlocked? HELP!
When you had the T-Mobile SIM installed, did you check to see if the T-Mobile Device Unlock app was installed & if so, did you run it to check the unlock status?
I know phones don't re-lock themselves, just considering the possibilities.....
One other thing:
When using ODIN to change firmware/etc..... if you didn't before, try changing the firmware w/o the SIM Card installed.
Outside of the above, I'm out of suggestions.
I have a T-Mobile Note 9 & used to test unlocked betas of Android 9 w/o any issues.

Funny you say that, the T mobile Device unlock app did install it's self. It tells me the device is network locked (Obviously isn't since it was originally an AT&T phone) and when I click continue, the server is not responding and that would be expected since this isn't even a Tmobile branded phone! My issue is Some of the APN settings on Verizon are different than TMobile and I can't get VolLTE. Any ideas...?
Interesting, never tried Odin without Sim card...When I did flash the unlocked and Verizon firmware and phone rebooted, the phone recognized there was a different carrier sim and rebooted (It did this when I first unlocked it from AT&T and went to Tmobile) but instead of re-branding or switching to a Verizon phone, it just reboots and still stuck with T-Mobile firmware. I want to be clear also, phone works fine with the exception of MMS and VolLTE which I believe I would get back once I switch to a Verizon firmware
I know this doesn't solve the SIM Unlock issue, but, have you manually changed the APN for the SIM Card you're using?

I did, I changed it to Straight Talk Verizon APNs settings. I just don't know how T-Mobile can lock my phone....
Some of the MNVO's Sim cards don't have all the data as the man brand in my experience I would get a Verizon Sim I've had the same problem use it to do the carrier change then install your regular Sim
[/COLOR]I have a T-mobile sim card in my Unlocked Verizon note 9 and it says its locked as well but it isn't. Just change the sim card and it will work just fine. If there is tmobile software left on it you will may have to flash your firmware to get rid of it. If there is T mobile software left you will have to flash your firmware to get rid of it.
My Verizon branded Note 9 is SM N960U. How is yours unlocked?
Just as the title says, my phone suddenly stopped recognizing any SIM card. Even though it knows which carrier it is. I've tried changing carriers and it still recognizes which carrier but won't connect to any network.
All other functionalities in the phone work. I'm currently on stock android 9. Any help would be greatly thanked.
first of all is your imei fine if yes just try flashing stock again
second if you flashed a custom rom and then try to go back to stock and then your sim is not recognized by the phone ( if the answer to this one is yes then flas the same rom again - this just happened to me so now i´m stuck with custom rom) i have the same XT1965-2 but mine is from mexico
