Note 5 help - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Help required with this guys if possible.
I bought a Samsung galaxy note 5, when I go to settings, about the model number comes up as a SM-N920F N920FUBS3BPJ1. But when I put the phone in download mode the phone shows it as a SM-SM920T model. The question is, can I flash this with odin with the new version 7 software to obtain the newest firmware. also can anyone tell me what the original stock firmware was,I'm in the UK and the phone is unlocked and presently using it on vodafone. Thanks.

Install UK region BTU Rom on AT&T galaxy note 3 LTE

Hi all,
I have purchased galaxy note 3 in Pakistan and it is AT&T unlocked phone means I can use my own network (Telenor) in Pakistan. Currently my phone is on 4.4.2 and I don't find any software update option in about device in settings menu nor through kies 3. I want to update my phone to Lollipop edition manually.
Things I have tried so far, downloaded ROM from sammobile and it is UK region BTU ROM. Downloaded Odin v3.10 and ran it as administrator and select the .tar.md5 file in AP box. No other options I selected but the default ones. But after detecting my phone Odin starts writing but after some time it failed showing me a message NAND write failed, auth error.
I have tried both Odin version v3.09 and v3.10 but both failed.
What can I do to solve this.
My phone configurations are:
Model: SM-N9005
Android: 4.4.2
Bootloader, Baseband: N900AUCUCNC2
CSC, PDA: N9005ZSUCND2
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Abdul Rahman
The n900a has a locked bootloader which could explain the Odin error.
The Sm-9005 and n900a are different phones and att never had the n9005. Is the phone new or used?

Thanks that you replied. I got a used phone. when I check about device, it tells me that Model is SM-N9005 and also removing battery and seeing there model number is same i.e. SM-N9005. And also I am using a different network here in pakistan instead of AT&T, it means phone is unlocked.

Does the imei from *#06# give you the same imei as on the label under the battery?

yeah, both are same.
Is the phone model an Sm-n9005 in download mode? If it is, the phone is not from att.

In download mode, model is SM-N900A . So, I am unable to install BTU ROM on this model. Am I right??
Looks like something is wrong in that the models numbers do not match. Download mode says 900a and the software says 9005. Something is not right with the phone.
Looks like my phone is SM-900A in download mode. so I can't install UK region ROM on this. So, I think my problem is solved. Thanks to everyone who answered.

Bought a Note 5, question about the device number

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 "SM-N920..." International Factory Unlocked version from Amazon. A friend of me is in NY and he recived the package. When I asked if he could tell me what model number is it, he sent me a photo of the device ID sticker that's glued in the package. Seems like Amazon actually placed a generic sticker over the original one saying "N920...SM" instead of the original model number. I asked him if he could search for the original number in the back of the box or the sticker that's in the device's back cover but he doesn't answer due to his crappy wifi.
I'm praying to see that's the original SM-N920C international version rather than the SM-N920I Korean one. My question is: does "C" version Roms work with the "I" device? I've read that using N920G Modem and Bootloader I should be able to flash a custom rom. But i don't want to trip KNOX yet because of Samsung Pay. If I install G Bootloader and Modem and then a N920C Marshmallow MD5 firmware all with ODIN, would it work?
Sorry my english and I hope you guys understood my question. Thanks!
Yes, it works.

Note 5 SM-N920F (EU Variant?) Please help

Hello,
May someone help me please.. does anyone here flash a stock ROM Android 6 from different Versions of note 5 (N9208, N920C, N920G etc.) Does it work for your N920F? i want to upgrade my n920f note 5 to marshmallow or does anyone here have a stock ROM even just 5.1.1 can you please share it with me? please?
There is no such thing as the SM-N920F. The Note5 was never released in Europe. You should check your actual model by going to download mode.

Installed stock rom
Hey, i have bought the same note 5 SMN920F one month ago i was using a Ugandan simcard and it was fine, i really wanted to update it but i could not then i came to discover that it was originally a SMN920V, so i read that if i wanted to update it i have to install the original stock firmware SMN920V of which i did and it's working fine on wifi, i am in Uganda, so i tried inserting a Ugandan simcard then it shows me a massage "simcard is not from verizon wireless" so the simcard i have is not supported after i installed the stock firmware which i found here on sammobile. How can i overcome this ?and be able to use any other simcard as before

Yes by installing the original stock firmware SMN920V, you have locked the phone back to Verizon. Hence you must send it to an unlock technician or pay online for on a trusted website for it to be unlocked

Software update option is not available

Hi,
I bought my device from Dubai, im using it on India. Now it is running Android 9 with OneUI 1.0. When tried to update software I can not see the update option in the setting list.
The model no mentioned in About phone is SM-N960F/DS
Current Build no. PPR1.180610.011.N960FXXU2ZRLR
Baseband N690NKOU3ASG1
Security patch January 1,2019
Also I can see netflix is not showing in the playstore and Magisk manager is pre installed.
My question is, if flash the latest android 10 firmware from sammobile using odin 3 , Does it will work indian sim? and is there anything I need to do to update the latest software.

The box still had the retail seals on it? Then your device maybe brand new. In which case I would return it to the retailer and ask for a replacement.
I cannot return beacuse , i bought it from Dubai and i am in India. Thats why opted for firmware updation.

You can try reinstalling the stock OS back onto your device using Odin and see if that helps.

Did flashing the stock firmware help ?
FOUND the answer
I HAVE found the source, i have a phone with same exact situation as the person who started this thread and i did some investigating and i found out my model is actually the korean variant of the note 9 single sim converted to duos variant F model with dual sim tray installed, meaning if you go to download mode you will be greeted by Korean and once you press volume up, you can see in the top left that its actually SM-N960N variant, but if you check the imei in the phone it will say its the F variant meaning imei have also been changed.
So if you flash stock rom you will lose dual sim status and probably enjoy korean language on the welcome page on loading up the phone and might even lose 4g 3g connectivity cause korean 4g/3g bands are different compared to india.

This is a risky procedure, we may loose our imei numbers or lose 4g connectivity, so for now ill stick with this rom, flashing the stock firmware and then upgrading to android 10 and redoing the entire conversion again from an N variant to an F/DS variant might be an option but that requires tools and skill, that is not easy.

No, you won't as the Korean N960N is essentially the same as the N960F (single SIM model). They are both GSM devices and will run on any global GSM Cell network. I have a N960N and I am using it on a Hong Kong Cell network and I get excellent coverage.
Also you can change the language during the Setup process, I believe it is on the bottom of the screen. I can't remember as it has been a while since I setup a Note 9.

Issue being we might loose our changed imeis if we flash stock firmware because the current imeis are not the original imei for the N variant but show up as F variant instead.
Hello, I have the exact same problem as the two of you above.
My question is have you found a way of updating to android 10?
Did you unroot the device or is the device still rooted?
If yes, how did you do it?
And is the device functioning properly?
I have this exact problem too. Is there any solution. Cos this OS I'm using is frustrating me

What options do we have in order to update to a later version? Is it possible to flash a stock ROM downloaded using Bifrost, and will that have any impact on the IMEIs and serial number? Can Knox be 'untripped' or the phone unrooted?

Galaxy Note 9 SM-N960N Flash Indian firmware

hi,
Somehow my Galaxy note 9 i purchased form Dubai is showing SM-N960F/DS in the software information, but actually the device is SM-N960N model with single sim which is a Korean model. The seller actually made a software customization to work the dual sim and the device is also rooted.I can not see any software update options on the settings list. I have tried to install the Indian firmware using Odin, but nothing works.
So is there any solutions to change the firmware to Indian??
I would recommend that you install the stock N960N OS back onto your device. You can change the language interface to Indian, during the setup process after you installed the OS
