I've tried the 3 apks listed here but nothing worked. Anyway to make the nav bar smaller without root? It's grossly oversized and idk what Samsung was thinking. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi guys,
I think the new JB is great in all ways except one, I hate the new grey status bar. Is there any way to change it black or transparent? I know that this "problem" has been fixed on other Samsung devices like SGS3 or Note, but what about SGS Advance?
Unfortunately I am not an android expert and don't know what files should be modified for this. But I think it is as simple as in the other Samsung devices. Could somebody from the expert guys handle this?
Tnx in advance!

Actually the grey status bar is a bug...I got it yesterday too...please do a complete factory reset,cache/dalvik wipe in stock recovery...the actual status bar is black...the bug gives the whole rom a peculiar grey tint...also the transparency elements are hampered...everything was solved by the simple factory reset and cache wipe...plz try it...:good:
hmm interesting
I did a factory reset before and after installing JB, but I will try once more.
maybe it will help...
(the only problem is I have installed all apps that I needed and now the phone works well...now I have to reinstall everything )

Well.....thats a pain in the ass I knw.....i had to do it myself yesterday:cyclops:.....when i istalled everything first time and then thought "maybe" the grey thing is a bug...coz it shouldn't look this way normally...then I took the risk and it paid off...the rom looks pretty nice though...I changed the ppi to 170 and swapped the stock launcher with Nova...and uninstalled the useless bloatware samsung usually provides...much ram freed too... :victory:

Well that isnt normal now is it?? status bar normally has the same colour as the drop down menu...so maybe its a different bug in yours,i dont know...i have only documented what i experienced personally yesterday....your experience may of course vary with mine...in my case it was a bug...coz its not there now...status bar is now beautiful black...and all the transparency effects are fully working too...

Well its just a personal preference.....I like having larger screen space...changing ppi to about 170 gives a decently large screen-space without much loss in image quality to my eyes...
This is not a bug, it's a feature.
Samsung deliberately changed the color of the statusbar to darkgrey so the Amoled pixels on the statusbar are ON like all the other pixels of the screen so they all have the same level of wear.
This way you won't get a different color on that bar over time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1897351
Anyway this is why they changed it for the SGS3
Guys this is the color of my status bar presently...u can check and compare it yourself...if this is the color of yours too the you haven't faced the bug i mentioned....

Its under navigation bar tweaks. Go into there and go to the bottom, you can change the height of the soft keys. I have mine at 80%.. Very noticeable yet still useful.

Hey modders, I was wondering if you can make a transparent/translucent Navbar that I can use throughout apps, I know about the immersive mode.
I feel Iv looked almost everywhere with no result as to why it can't be done or hasn't I would settle for it changing with my apps but I can't use xposed since I'm on 5.1
Thanks in advance for any help/info.
Nexus Titan 6
Guess that's a nope.
Yes, for me that's a feature that I would live to have,UV been asking about this for awhile now and I never get a answer. I don't understand why this can't be done or if devs just don't wanna tackle it. There's a modual in xposed that let's us fad the navbar but it just come back,I don't like the fade feature. I would gladly donate if someone would make this happen. Let's start a petition lol.....

Yea man, same here there's just not enough people liking the magic of it. Personally I think it adds more screen relestate for viewing. I have talked to some guys over on G+ in bitsyko layers project and apparently he is doing it. But you'll have to use layers.

You can use ultimate dynamic navbar pro to do this. I currently have my navbar transparent. Also, it expands your desktop when you make your navbar transparent so you really do have more screen real estate. Unfortunately, it won't let me post the link for it but you can find it in the play store

I'm looking for the stock navbar with no black background. Just like on the homescreen.

You can do that with udn, it hides your real navbar and put a an exact clone to replace it. Then you go to theme and make the background clear

I understand that lol. The navbar I posted is UNB's basic theme but is customizable if you purchase it and can be transparent. It's obviously not a stock hack or anything but I was confirming it's an identical solution that works for 5.1, assuming you're rooted.

I bought it awhile back, didn't do what I wanted an had 4.4 Navbar icons didn't enjoy it.
Using layers the customize my Navbar icons.
Guys, is there something new? I also want to disable the black color behind the buttons
woookay now.
1 : The devs don't owe us, anything. They can build whatever the hell they want. Plus, most roms now are some sort of kang of another. Why else would most roms have pertty much the same features then?
2: This is all on the assumption that apps don't theme the navbar, and that they have coded the app to display at where the navbar is. I've done a fully transparent status and navbar build for my nexus 4 and while it works fine on launcher, it would bug out with artifacts when using other apps or it just returned to grey.
BUT, devs are amazing so they could probably make this work. However, there are much more important things to be done before modifying on the looks of android. So please, just be patient or try and do it yourself.
Obviously you guys don't feel the way I do.... I hate the navbar. I don't use it. Such a waste of screen. Have you tried something good like pie or an alternative to the navbar? I'd suggest that. But to each his/her own.

There be light up soft keys. And the 6in screen that would have made it 100x better.
Alright, I now see the systemui.apk but too bad the instructions I saw did not apply to what I wanted. What I want is to replace the signal bars into something much more identifiable, like the Iphone dot signals. However it seems that there is much more to do than what I expected. Can somebody assist me in this case? Thanks!

Instead of spending that much time troubling yourself with that apk, you can use the Flat Style Bar app from HERE. Note that it requires Xposed to be installed.
