Note 8 randomly restarted?? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

Hey ive put my note 8 under the sink a few times to quickly wash it. But today idk if this is related after over 2 hours after I washed it (ports are wet) notification was long gone my phone suddenly while watching a youtube restarted itself. Im a very paranoid person about my stuff and this has been my priotiry for the past hours. Please tell me im just overegagarating because im going to flip it. Yesterday my 5 year old brother accidebtally hit my note i with a waterbottle. I NEARLY FLIPPED. Is this happening to other people so far its was only 1 reboot. :crying::crying:

I would definitely say you're over exaggerating. My note did it at least once same with S8+.

It's the same thing as if your computer bluescreens, it just detected a problem with some of the active data in the system. But instead of "halting" it restarts instead.

I've had 2 random reboots, but nothing to alarm me, yet...

Nexus 7 Issue Reports

A couple thing's I've noticed, when doing some serious gaming, the unit gets VERY hot. We've seen this before with Teg 3 tablets COUGH*acer*COUGH, but my concern is putting a case on this thing... I'm worried that retaining all that heat might cook the thing's insides.
This will probably resolve itself, but last night I went to bed at ~80% battery, watched a movie, and when it was done, the screen turned off as normal... and when I woke up, the battery was down to 25%. My Razr Maxx had similar issues when new and apparently had to do with the OS calibrating it's battery meter.
What is everyone else seeing on theirs?
Use CPUspy to see if it was deep sleeping? BetterBatterystats to check wakelocks? Mine seems to be sleeping fine, haven't seen mine do anything weird yet
I'm not a serious gamer but I did put my N7 through about an hour of some pretty intensive gaming and it got a little warm like any device but it was never HOT to the touch. Battery life on day 1 was a bit weak but thats because I was too excited and did not give the N7 time to fully charge before playing with it.
Yesterday it was fully charged at around 2pm when I unplugged it.
Went to the library for a little over an hour and mooched their WiFi then went to my friends house.. from 4pm till midnight we were abusing my N7 pretty much constantly... showing off GNow, Maps compass mode, sports scores etc and when I got home around 1am I still had 47%.
Granted, I didn't game at all yesterday or watch much video.. but it was still being used fairly constantly.
Therr are apps that cause your device to wake. I discovered "hangaroo" does this on my wife's evo3d.
Some market apps are that annoying, just uninstall that certain app and the device shouldn't wake up randomly
on xda for android and mistyping like a boss
The only thing on my N7 that wasn't on my other Android devices was Dark Meadow: The Pact... I'm thinking, like mentioned, it's a new device issue that'll resolve itself as far as battery life. The 2nd and 3rd day with my Razr Maxx, I awoke to a dead battery, now it's rocking 2-3 days between charges.
And the heat, well, that was mostly during that Dark Meadows game and that's completely optimized for a Teg 3, so it's abusing all 4 cores plus the GPU portion of the chip. Still, not sure I'd want all that contained in some insulating case.
My Nexus 7 doesn't get hot like you described. My only issue is that the left part of my screen isn't stuck down completely. It pops up while people on reddit are saying is common. Anyone else with this issue here?

Played about two hours of GTA 3 yesterday, it did get 'warm' but not hot.
I think it really depends on how lucky/unlucky you are with the Nexus 7 unit you received. Some people are reporting a dead unit after using it for about 3 hours. Others are reporting dead pixels. And, you're reporting this...
I guess I was lucky enough to not have any of those issues with my Nexus 7.

[Q] Stuck Pixel

Hey guys, I just got a replacement of my One (previous one had capacitative buttons' light leaking out of the rightmost bottom part). I just noticed that I have a stuck pixel in here (white) and but not black (which means it's dead, right?). So I was thinking to get a replacement again, but I'm afraid that the other one may have more stuck / dead pixels than this one, because I've read people complaining about multiple pixel problems. So, what do you guys say? Should I get a replacement or just wait for the pixel to un-stuck itself?
The only thing that irks me is that it's in the middle of the whole screen.
*BUMP*
Anyone?
There's a few apps that help with stuck pixels, they just flash the screen multiple colors until the pixel fires correctly.
I had 3 stuck pixels when I got this phone but within a week they fixed themselves

I have about 6 dead/stuck pixels. Tried the apps for a hour, i just requested a new device. Waiting for htc to send me another one before i ship mine back

I did use this app, the impact of the stuck pixel have seemed to be lowered (ran the app 3 times for 30 minutes) as compared to before. But it didn't vanish completely.
Ignore it... I had my HTC One for 2 months now and when I got it there was no stuck pixels... Then within the 2 months usage stuck pixel are popping out and just disappearing within days of ignoring it. Some last for weeks but they all eventually disappeared. I only have 1 stuck pixel now on my unit where somewhere within the 1st month it manage to produce up to 6 stuck pixels.
Wow. I was just thanking my stars a couple days ago that my One was perfect. No gaps in the corners, no dead pixels, no faulty camera, no nothing. But it bricked and now I'm gonna have to get a replacement. Hope my luck holds out.

Just for the clarification; was it a white pixel? And if you increase the brightness of the screen, the brightness of the stuck pixel also increases?
Yes it is white sometimes changing color constantly I know what stuck, hot and dead pixels are
And by the way it's not noticeable on lowest brightness so yeah it's visible only on high brightness

Thanks a bunch, you saved me from getting my second replacement. I was just clarifying my concept of stuck pixel, and not judging your knowledge.
Oh yeah, and what was the average period they got fixed by themselves? How many days / weeks?
Like I said it's random... Only those I've noticed is 4days, 9 days and the longest was I think 5 weeks I always noticed the 5 weeks because it seems like 2 pixels got stuck which is side by side to each other so it created a much brighter white. But it got fixed by itself in 5 weeks estimate. Not sure how it got fixed though probably the constant video playback(I'm an anime junky) or must have cured itself because I'm always setting brightness to the lowest level.
If pixel fixers which changes color everytime does indeed fix these issues then I'm pretty sure it got fixed because of the video playback... Watching anime videos for 4 hours a day sometimes 8 on weekends is an overkill for constant color shifts.

Did you ever try pixel fixer? And that anime stuff is very interesting (changing colors). I used pixel curer for like 80+ minutes on my phone but the pixel doesn't even change itself from white or I think I might not be able to notice as it is so small.
Thanks for all the help, I am limited to 8 thanks / day, so as soon as 24 hours pass on, I'll thank you for all your posts.

80minutes is nothing compared to mine... When I watch an anime you can compare it to running pixel fixer for 4 hours a day And like I said it get's fixed in days or even weeks.
So running 80minutes of pixel fixer is not even comparable to what I do on my phone
xperia e stuck piel
I recently got an xperia e on orange pay as you go from my local carphone warehouse. Last night i noticed a blue/white spot on the screen. After looking at the screen closely more smailer specs appear when you tilt the device around but this one stays visible throughout. They are especially visible in the dark but not so much in sunlight. Another thing to note is that it only appears on dark backgrounds e.g. black.
I have tried a stuck pixel fixer for about half an hour but to no avail.
Since its only a few days old i thought i could return it to carphone warehouse but dose anyone have experience of doing this. I know, because i got my phone on orange, that i can not just replace it for no reason. However i would like to know would they try to fob me off by saying that they can't see them or saying there needs to be more of them to warrant a return. There are a few other things i could say to get a return. For example the proximity sensor does not work in the diagnostics app and there is "no signal" at my house Its hard to get a picture of it otherwise i would've included one.
So really my question is should i try and return it (in the uk we have pretty strong consumer laws (the sale of goods act)) or should I just ignore it and run the flashing light show for longer.
Thanks
James
I though i had a white stuck pixel on my notification bar, i took a screen shot, and it appears on the image, so it appears it is part of the stock htc one wallpaper.

Note 4 reboot issue

About 5 days ago my phone gained these charming traits...
Random lag, 10-45 seconds of completely unresponsiveness that always hits within 5 minutes of using it
Random reboots, sometimes after the lag sometimes just a reboot
Sometimes it restarts automatically, sometimes it just dies
Loses wifi, then lags, but wifi won't connect until I reboot
The lag always hits when I get a large number of texts at once or try to type a lot
I've tried...
Streaming music, does fine until I try to use the interface
Removing the sd, no improvement
Factory reset, no improvement
Odin to stock, no improvement
Yelling at it, no improvement but slightly cathartic
Switching to stock batteries from ankers, no improvement
Switching off swiftkey, no improvement
About my phone
Stock marshmallow, used to be rooted but that was back in kitkat days
Ran flawlessly for 22 months
No recent drops or tumbles
Well tested, I spend 20 hours plus a week on the phone with over ten thousand texts a month for work. Never had anything like this, even on lollipop
I have a note 7 on preorder but I'm disappointed in the direction the note line went and would much rather get another year out of this awesome phone or at least wait for the v20/nexus options. Any ideas awesome guru folk?

Maybe all the Note 4s are going out. I literally had the same issue occur on since Friday. Had to use a wakelock just to keep it from freezing and bootlooping.

My Redmi 2 nearly did a Samsung :(. RIP

So I upgraded from my Redmi 2 to a Redmi note 4, and left my redmi 2 around for 2 weeks. Then today I charged it and tried starting up and although I felt the startup vibration the screen never came on. So I leave it for about an hour then I come back and it's still not working. So i open the back cover and nearly burn my hands cos it's super hot and the plastic is melting. And so my Redmi 2 has finally died, after being dropped 30+ times without a case, used in the rain, throw around, and reset a bunch of times to install new Roms. Dammit I wanted to flash CM14 so that i could laugh at all the Samsung peasants waiting another few months for their official Nougat rom.
Oh well at least it didn't explode unlike *ahem* some other brands *ahem*
P.s hopefully I can fix it. Anyone had the same problem as me?

It does heat but it will not burn the plastic (lol).
Cm14 is great but it's still under development has major bugs.
Try charging by phone turned off then if it works, switch to fasboot and clean flash your phone.

Galaxy note 8 (about screen issues)

Hey guys! I would like to buy galaxy note 8, but since there was some posts and stories when people having big problems with it's screen (even after 2-3 months) - I am still in consideration. I am talking about burn in and light leak. I know that some people will say it's not very noticeable in some cases and just "chill out", but when I pay for phone 1000 euro - Phone should be perfect.
So I am creating a poll and expecting note 8 users to respond
If you have any problems with screen, could you also mention since when did you experienced it? (e.x. 1-8 months after purchasing)
P.s. As I experienced, note series phones has the most problems with "burn in". The reason I want this phone is because of the stylus pen, which I find very useful.
I have finally created some burn in but it from keeping Pokemon go open for hours and hours at a time. I've now found that using the Tiles app to hide system bars for all apps, but it's too late now. Mine is very faint and only shows in white and blue screen tests. I couldn't see it until I actually ran the burn in test.

Would warranty service replace the screen which has burn-in, or you haven't contacted them yet? Because I asked at Telia in Denmark, and they said that they would.

I can confirm screen burn-in is covered under samsung warranty from experience. My screen burn in came from the enabled auto brightness setting. Quite often my phone is holstered near the front windshield of my car. During the day, sometimes the sunlight would trigger daylight mode which is 100% brightness. Unaware of this, I was exposing the screen to long periods of youtube and maps while driving for months.. Next thing you know, screen burn in. I'm sure many cases are a result of this. So now I use an app too closely monitor auto-brightness. I think as long as one keeps brightness at no higher than 60% will avoid screen burn-in.
I've been using my Note 8 N950N for about 3 months now with auto brightness enabled and everything seems fine so far. I can get 2 days battery with lite usage.
Yeah I could get a replacement but I don't want to get a refurbished phone. I hate getting a device and wondering what they did to actually "fix" whatever was wondering with the original person's defective unit.

If you purchase it directly from Samsung. You should be fine.
Be wary with Samsung's repair centers
Sent my phone for repair last week( display burn-in) received it with the same problem ( and was charged for a repair, which I paid thinking it was for the screen ) what they changed was the charging port which I had no problem with . Now they want me to send it again and I won't . Won't get charged again
No burn in for me. Got the phone on January this year (2018). Flashed and rooted on the first week. Loving the phone.
I Have my note 8 since Nov 2017 for almost 11 months, no burns or light bleed, nor pinkish tint, or peeling paint, no false moisture warnings, no excessive batt drain, no sluggish charging, no lag, zero random reboots, no freezing, ram always above 1 GB, cpu temp always below 49 oC, perfect cameras, excellent call quality, fast gps all the time, even indoors, nothing wrong in any way, I am very, very pleased with it, btw, I am running it with 7.1.1

Mine is almost 7 months old, there is only light leaks (was there when i bought the phone and you will get used to it) but it really doesnt effect the phone nor water resistance. I have swam with my phone many times in both pool and sea, still rocking. If you use full brightness even with the red limit bar ofcourse you will burn the screen. I have used it on that mode many times but still no issues with it. About light leak, it really doesnt bother, i had xa ultra and sides were a little bit curved and i could see the same light leak. Its not that of a big deal.
N950u, crc2
I've had mine for 8 months now. Started with screen becoming less responive to my touch and stylus. About a week ago, my display started opening and exiting apps, couldn't remain on same page, and scrolling on it's own. I took it to my carrier and they replaced it no charge.
