I found this online and can confirm it works with the Verizon variant of the V30. It's version 5.30.11. You must allow installations from non-trusted sources under settings/security to install this app. Enjoy!!
You can download it from android file host HERE.
Does not work with Korean version of the V30.. Says that I must enable FM Radio first, but there's no such option anywhere
Worked for me thx
Theres already a FM radio app stock on the T-Mobile H932 model.
I was able to install the Next Radio app on my Verizon V30, but I haven't tried it out yet.
So does this app just stream radio or is this an actual fm tuner?

This is the stock LG FM Radio app that utilizes the built in FM tuner on these phones. I can pick up all the radio stations around me that i can in my car. It also supports RDS, radio data system, where the app will display the artist and song info. Pretty cool.
Next Radio runs just fine on my V30. Granted, I only tried it with one station, but it's the ONLY station I listen to.
Can confirm that this works on the Sprint V30+ variant as well. It's not showing any RDS info, however.
Too bad we couldn't get the stock sms app to work. Seems everyone is removing it now
Couldn't install "App not installed. Restricted by device administrator"
Verizon LGV30
FM radio app works on my VS996! Thanks!
No display or scrool problems here. Waiting for 200 dollar card and VR set with bundle of free games. Also did registration for extra year of warranty. This thing is a great deal guys!

Well the problem was on my end. After deactivating the LG package disabler I was able to install the FM radio. Reactivated the package disabler after that and everything works.
It came preinstalled on my v3/0+

I think RDS info is radio station dependent. It shows on some radio stations in my area but not others.
Just another silly move by big red. Why they removed the radio app even though they left the FM receiver present was pretty dumb.

I stand corrected - the app *does* display RDS info, I was just not looking in the right place.
Thanks again for this find. :good:
Another confirmation that the app works on the VZW version of the V30... Very nice! Thank you.
Next radio app
I have a Verizon V 30 and downloaded the Next radio app from the play store. It works great but you need the headphones/earbuds plugged in as it serves as your antenna. I tuned in to a station and went out and checked it with my car radio and they both were playing the same song . with this app you can choose to use the tuner or you can stream if your phone doesn't have a fM tuner. My Verizon V 30 worked great with the tuner.
Can confirm it works on Korean v30+

I'm looking for an app to stream music. But I can't seem to find anything that works. Like I want to be able to stream for say something like, Edge 102.1 (Toronto). Or something similar and free to XM Radio.
I use Pandora and I love it. It's sort of... genre-based internet radio. I do have force closes once in a while when switching channels a lot but the app is worth it to me.
Edit: Does not pull in AM/FM if that is strictly what you're looking for. You search for a band you like and it will play similar music to the band you chose. Each search creates a "channel" you can switch between.
Hmm. Pandora sounds great and I've heard a lot about it. But, I can't seem to download it in Canada Any suggestions on how to get it or other apps?
you can try iheartradio but i had problems with it not streaming very good
Such a bummer that the markets are not the same across countries. Since it's a free app I think I could post it to the forums without it being warez, right?

I hope so lol
here it is
for future reference, check out market enabler to unlock the market. i've never used it though so i'm not sure if it works.
edit: these are both free apps but if a mod feels like i shouldnt post these, please delete this post
I use an app called AOnlineRadio, it's free in the marketplace. Only plays shoutcast-style streams, but has directory and search functions. Doesn't seem to support Ogg, afaik.

Doesnt last.fm do the same thing? maybe that will work
Awww. Pandora won't work in my country it says (Canada).
I'm trying to use Last.fm in my browser, so I'm on the mobile site, but I can't seem to play any music. I don't see any option to play song or anything.
search the market for last.fm, but I bet it won't work in the great white north either. You could try Slacker, and there is another that I know works in europe but requires a subscription and I can't for the life of me remember it's name, sorry - 5 AM here.
Pandora and Slacker are US-only due to licensing restrictions by the recording industry. I'm not sure about last.fm since audioscrobbler was pretty popular years ago even in Europe.
You could try some of the shoutcast streaming apps or maybe do a market search for "<country> radio". There may even be something available for Canadians that we don't have in the US market.
I just found one and it's great: "A Online Radio"
It's streaming though, so you'll probably want 3G I'd imagine. (USA here)
I just really want a good streamer to use in Canada since I have 6GB and I'm not using it all up. Bluetooth streaming to my car stereo would be a nice replacement to my actual radio.
i use stream furious
works pretty fine for me (in austria)
there where even the radiostations installed that i downloaded it for. and you can add them yourself too
Just wondering as our phones have a FM receiver.
Wondering if there is a app that receives the signal and converts DAB into audio.
Should be possible i would image as a radio signal is analogue anyway..
Don't want to use streaming radio apps.
As far as i know, DAB means Digital Audio Broadcast - if your device has a digital receiver built in, that would be possible. My HD2 has only an analogue radio receiver. I do not see a way that your request could be fulfilled...
memory serves me correct there is no such thing as a digital broadcast....
All radio waves are analouge?
So if the decoder could be emulated in software?

The analogue FM receiver in your phone can only receive frequencies from 87.5 to 108MHz and cannot even receive the frequencies used in DAB (174-240MHz).
If it was that easy, don't you think someone else would have already done what you suggest?
After all it would be one more advertisable feat of your Handset they would use to make you pay more money for it if they could.
lol forgot about the frequency range..
Cheers for input
Mods could you please close this thread thank you
Actually there is, it is called Wavesink and you can find it in Google store.
Unfortunately it won't work with my car player (It runs Android 2.3.4) Wavesink requiers Android 3 or newer, anyone know of a way to modify the Apk file so that it will work with earlier versions of android?
From what i have read you could modify the AndroidManifest.xml file inside the Apk but i don't have the knowledge to do that,
This programme will work with a dab Usb dongle connected to your phone, tab etc....

you can try Spirit Fm .
The i9305 has no FM Radio hardware, so it will never work.

i am also a fm radio listener on the way to work. i have installed Tunein radio from the app store. its pretty good.
Hello everybody!
I want to solve my problem with playing music in a car. I have an Xperia SP and about a year ago, I tested like 10 ROMs in very short period of time and I don't remember names of these ROMs, but I remember that one of these had this really cool app, which would allow me to use my phone as an FM Transmitter. I didn't think it was something special back then, but I could really make use of it now.
I tested it on my radio at home and it really worked. Not many phones have FM transmitter, but some Xperias, as I read now, accidentally have this function. I've tried to google that app, all I found was Spirit FM app which wasn't working for me and I'm sure it's not the app that I'm looking for..
Doesn't anybody have this app, ROM or a tip how I could find it? Any help appreciated
FM Transmitter depends on the ROM support.. AdrianDC has made an add-on for this with CM12.1 but after lollipop, FM Transmitter has been deprecated forever.

Not exactly.
You could use a flashable zip (called addon) which set a value in build.prop which activated the FM transmitter app. It worked not only on L, but also on M. You could also set the value manually. It was something like ro.fm.transmitter = true or similar.
Afaik, this app isn't included anymore in lineage.
But there are two apps which are called Spirit FM, Version 1 and 2. They do exactly what you want.
Version 1 is available for free somewhere on Xda.
Version 2 is a little costly and available on the Playstore.
They worked then, I'm quite sure they still do.
Hi! Could you recommend an android app that is really AA compatible?
When I searched for it, I got only 2 results.
1st.: iHeartRadio
Since with this app I can't listen to the radio channels I'm looking for, I haven't even tried it with AA. Only on my mobile phone.
2nd.: TuneIn
It looked perfect at first glance, but only on my mobile phone. It does not appear at all in the AA menu, nor is it among the hidden apps.
(So this search result was invalid...)
Replaio radio is a really good one, and also supports AA...
Hi,
Simple radio or calm radio are working fine in AA
myTuner works well with aa and has many usual car radio channels from my region atleast, more than tunein.
I'm using following ones with AA:
Radiogram they are reactive when asked for adding missing radios
Open Radio
Transistor Basic but FOSS (F-Droid & Play Store)
TuneIn IS AA compatible (I use it already for a long time), charm of TuneIn is (at least with Dutch stations), that it cuts the very annoying pre-roll ads with ALL my (Dutch) stations.
As far as I have seen is TuneIn the only internet radio app doing this -and pre-rolls are irritating as hell, when browsing through my radio stations.
Just my 2c
