Screen banding gradient wallpapers - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

So the note 8 shows banding on the wallpapers that have gradients. Or anywhere in the ui that uses gradients of colours soThats all the stock infinity wallpapers and the stock standard built in wallpapers etc..i went to the store and checked every note 8 about 16 units they all have this banding..im surprised nobody has made a thread about this or is this common knowledge .i also checked all the s8 and s8 plus in store they also all show colour banding for gradients aswell.
Watched every yt note 8 review and they all show the gradient banding on the wallpapers
Any insite into why these high end phone can't display gradients so it's completely smooth with no ugly lines?barsps full brightness makes is much more visable.here is a screen shot from a s8 plus review i found where they mentioned it

I still love my note 8 but I'm disappointed about the gradients. Why can't sammy make amoled screens that can handle smooth gradients of Colour?

I think the same as you, but all my samsung devices have been this way, That is why I avoid gradient wallpapers

Screen defect - Vertical banding

Hello everyone,
So, I recently bought a Lenovo Zuk Z2 Pro, and I noticed some weird darker vertical lines all along the screen. These are not always noticeable, but when the background is greyish, they particularly are.

Unfortunately, I can't resend it to the seller (in China) because of the lovely customs in my country who won't hesitate to tax the replacement phone, even though I've already had to pay 101,45€ of fees the first time.
I did my researches and I found out an app named "Screen Equalizer", that allows to permanently display an overlaid image with a low opacity, in order to correct the yellow/blue/etc. tint that some users are experiencing with their screens.
So my question is :
-> Is there any application that would do the same job as "Screen Equalizer", but with a "customized" image ?
My idea is to take a picture of my screen, and reproduce the lines in Photoshop, put them in white and upload the image in the app with a low opacity to lighten these dark lines.
Of course, it is necessary that these added lines soften depending on the color of the screen, in real time.
Does such an app exist ? If not, is it realizable ?
Thanks !
You can use the app "designoverlay" and disable the grid. But I don't know, if you can hide the lines with that.

notch+dpi and display saturation

hi, can anyone help out?
i would like to buy a p20 pro, and fiddled around with it for some minutes in a shop, but still have two questions:
-i changed the dpi to around 550 via the developer options. but when hiding the notch (black bar), the display showed grave errors-- basically the black bar EMUI paints into the notch area was not large enough to cover the notch area (now that its 550 dpi). EMUI then just painted some white area(!) below. this looked simply broken. rebooting did not help in the shop, as the phone was in demo mode, so it reverted my change. can anyone confirm that after changing the dpi to 550 and rebooting there are no graphic glitches around the notch?
-the display displayed colors that were not so saturated (despite the color mode being in "vivid")-- the s9 as well as the mate 10 pro have simply more punchier colors. is there any way to increase the saturation? i use color changer pro on my a5 2016, but it needs root. but i dont want to root the p20 pro and basically loose warranty, at least not this year. any other option i did not see?
thanks in advance!
just in case you wonder how it looks like if dpi is smaller (and not rebooted at least)

Question Shadows on screen... bug ?

Hi there !
I have the Pixel 7 and i'm very happy with it.
I've noticed something weird yesterday :
When my phone is beneath full sun and when looking at a white front page, i see 3 sorts of shadows. 2 on the top right and 1 little in the middle. I see them only in full sun condition.
I wonder if it's a screen bug or if it's a material shadow under the screen (camera material reflexion ?...)
Thanx for your help.
this pic is not mine, but it's just to show you the shadows location

It's the proximity sensor under the camera, and other sensors. We all have them. It's normal.
Thanx for your help ! Glad to read that. But its true that once i see those shadows, i always see them !
This is how it looks on my Pixel 7 which was delivered today (i had to exchange it due to some defect and didn't recognized it before with the previous device).
I was really shocked as i have seen that. That's where i started searching the web for this.
But is that really state of the art quality of such display panels? I just wonder if really each Pixel 7 has this.
It seems the display panel of the Pixel 6 at least does not have this big shadow which looks like a big battery symbol on the top right corner. This big shadow annoys me the most.
