Hi guys quick question I know there's a similar thread but there was no real answers to it so here goes. I've currently got a N950N KT branded note 8 that I'm using here in the UK. I got it imported as I really wanted the deep blue sea colour. Is there anyway I can install an n950F rom on this phone to remove kt branded boot logos and apps etc. Also so i can use samsung pay here too. If so can someone point me in the right direction to tell me how to do so ?
Thank you.

flash twrp follow the instructions, flash rom (950f works fine) then good to go
@masri1987
Any particular 950F rom? and which instructions?
I manually debranded mine but it took a bit of work.
If there's an easier way without having to use a custom ROM, I'm game to try again.

I remember reading on another thread that installing a n950f rom on a n950n could brick the phone. You sure it's possible to do ? So can I just download a n950f rom off sammobile ? Never used twrp myself.
@raees93
What @masri1987 is referring to is the ability to flash a custom ROM through TWRP. That should be fine.

Whoever said that was mistaken, they are literally the exact same hardware.
Odin won't let you flash OEM firmware from different versions, out of the box at least - so that might have been what that person was thinking of.
You can, however, very easily flash ROMs with TWRP and this works just fine between the N and F variants.

I've been trying to install romsin my SGS3 4g, but whenever I try i get a status 7 error. I did a little investigation it turned out that status 7 ment that the rom or cwm didnt recognize my phone as compatible with the rom, so it aborted it, there was supposedly a way to "bypass" it, when i did i bricked my phone, really bricked, changed it and have another one. got the same errors, I am SURE that im using a rom compatible with my phone (was tring to instal paranoid android). my phone is the AT&T version (Im with Telcel in mexico, but they use the same model), anyone know or has encountered this problem?

Thanks bro. I don't think I will risk it either. There are also no comments there that confirm that it works...
At the moment I don't have a real reason to root, but i'm sure I'll need it in the future. Hopefully we will have it soon.
Good luck!

Since you have the N9200 as well, could you do me a massive favor? I'm really dissatisfied with the scrolling behavior on mine. I've made a thread about it in the General section.
Could you let me know what software version you are on? Have updated to the latest one (N9200ZHU1AOI1)? But most importantly: do you notice stuttering behaviour in scrolling through apps like Google Play store, Youtube, Facebook etc...?
You can capture the behavior by following the steps described in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/general/note-5-scrolling-behaviour-t3195672.
Thanks in advance!

No problem, I'll try to get to it as soon as I get home, Going to Uni now.
Though I must say that I dont really use those apps because I live In china. If I use them I have to open Astrill VPN. I just Tried it with facebook, and it seems pretty smooth, except when it loads new content because of Chinas great firewall.
(Im also on the new version, but today I tried the "Package debloat" app from the Q&A section and disabled 150 or so apps)
So does anyone found any clue for N9200 root (OI1 firm) ???
Still no :\
@Seven Winds @tisfo @Willyman just got my device, im on it.
got twrp so far..
roots next..
then arter's kernel with dual sim intact..
Edit:
current progress and planned
unlock bootloader
install twrp
backup everything
reboot
notice GAPPS get removed when you unlock
verify my knox container still works (says KNOX has been locked contact your IT admin need to change lock type)
flash stock n9200 kernel with ',verify' removed (aka allows system to be mounted and modified, without this change a kernel cant boot a rooted system)
reboot and verify knox container still works (same message)
flash gapps reboot and verify
flashing back gapps didnt restore everything i was missing (looked like every app i downloaded from play store was also removed), so i reflashed the stock system i pulled out of odin tarball
restoring data
Damn im glad I backedup everything as soon as I got recovery, first boot after unlocked BTloader, it was next reboot that it deleted all my data ( so after reinstalling stock system and restoring my data, everything is back to how it was)
*** im here ***
twrp su root
reboot and verify knox container still works
flash arter kernel that I merged n9200 sources for dual sim support
reboot and test
(ii know knox wont work with any other customer kernel (i really want knox workspace with custom roms and plan on making it work)
Thank you gundal for your hard work!
I am using n9200 HK version. And I rooted my note 5 already!
Thanks for my friend in China, he helped me a lot and everything works fine.
I also installed xposed framework in my note 5.
Can you please share links to the files you've used? I tried to install twrp via Odin and I'm getting error RQT_Close and the phone writes something in chinese in the download mode.
Any customer ROM for dual sim yet?

Hi guys, first time poster here, I was on this thread
Code:

and it said on it that the model SM-N920W8 was supported for the spaceX kernel.
Once I clicked on this link
Code:
http://samfirm.net/post/129813196562/spacex-kernel-note5-s6e-plus
I dont see the SM-N920W8 model in the list of Supported devices status, unless he forgot to put it I don't see it and I doubt its the SM-N9208 cuz this one is a dual I think.
So did someone actually use it for SM-N920W8 and it worked with no issues? Mine is the rogers version in Canada.
thnx

Hi and welcome,
If you follow the download link for "all N920", pretty sure that's the file you need:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=39339
SpaceX-Kernel-v0.1_N920W8(official).tar.md5 ; should be flashed with Odin.
Also, remember that this root method will trip the Knox flag permanently (Void warranty).
EDIT: I actually did not tested it. Someone else could confirm, although I feel quite confident.
While I can verify the above kernel works on my W8 (Rogers), I cannot seem to shake the issue of random reboots.. At least once a day the phone will reboot on its own, and almost every phone call, the phone will reboot a couple of minutes in.
I love having a rooted device but the compromise of stability is making me consider going back to factory stock... Using the 0.1, 0.2, and noble kernels have all yielded the same symptoms. Anyone have a suggestion?

Well thnx for the heads-up... I thought that the spaceX was supposed to fix the random reboots..guess not. I will be waiting then for a stable Kernel.

I've been told my SkyHigh SM-N920T kernel works with SM-N920W8. You can find it on the T-Mobile Note 5 original android development forum.
Please give us a link of those files!

grab that file above and flash it with philZ recovery (that's what I did)
you can grab philZ from the same link of the kernel, either the MD5 if you are using odin or the zip if you will flash.
and that's it! I had no issues on my phone at all, I installed WANAM's xposed and all is good.

it's a custom recovery. you don't have it? here download all these 3 files, you need it. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?res...15&authkey=!AH-QhLvUTZxvBJc&ithint=folder,zip
I built this ROM as a test for those who have locked bootloaders on the Tab S and can't get root.
In my experience Samsung bootloader locked devices will not allow a custom kernel or recovery to be installed. However it is possible that the bootloader will allow a modified rom to be installed.
The rom is bone stock Lollipop 5.0.2 except it is pre-rooted with SuperSU 2.49. It needs to be installed via ODIN. If ODIN allows it to flash then its highly likely it will boot just fine.
If there are any issues that arise then all that is required is to flash the stock firmware, available here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T707V/
T707VVRS1BOK1_preroot_system.img.tar
If anyone gives this a shot, please report with details.

If it works for the T707v then I'll do the same for the other Bootloader locked devices. It all depends on whether ODIN will flash it or not.
The reason I have used the T707v is because this device at least has the stock firmware available, so it should be relatively safe to try this.

Edit: If this has the reboot issue, I have a new approach to try

The nonamemod ROM isn't mine. This is the first version of mine and all the details are all in the first post. You can't use package disabler pro with root.

Sweet! Like I said I havn' t tested so no promises on anything. It will most likely boot but I had problems last time how it would keep rebooting randomly every 30 or so seconds. That's why I changed to att firmware because someone told me it was ufirms fault... carrier problems. Hopefully it is fixed

My device is G935T, but I flashed your package, it has been stuck in the boot first interface, After I tried to flash BP and CP, but still can not open, is not in the flash CraZy_ROM before flash into the official AP in flashfire?

I didn't quite understand that last part. So did it not boot at all? Or did it boot but get stuck at setup?
Update soon. New approach so it shouldn't have a bootloop issue
