Note 8 N950N TWRP ROM Flash ? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Hi guys can someone quickly explain how i can use TWRP to flash my note 8 N950N (Korean branded) with a N950F rom off sammobile. I've never used this program before and want to make sure I can use the N950F rom. Can someone point me in the right direction please or give a lil tutorial it would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

If you've never used TWRP you may want to watch some YouTube tutorials before you jump in. It is very simple to use but also easy to mess your phone up if you don't know what you're doing.

And where does it say you should use twrp ?
Sammobile firmwares are not twrp flashable. At least try to read a thing or two...

[Q] Is it possible to root Note 3 now ?

I have stock AT&T 4.4.2 and I posted a topic HERE asking if it is possible to root Note 3 or not?
According to the post HERE, it seems like someone has figure it out to root Note 3.
So, I just want to double check, now can I root my AT&T Note 3 ? and install custom ROM to it ?
That is exactly what the thread you linked to said, so yes, you can do those now...

So, once I root my AT&T Note 3 with Towelroot
What custom ROM I should install ? is there anything available out there ? As there was no way to root Note 3 before with 4.4.2 update, I don't know if there was any ROMs available or not ?
anyone ?
In the spirit of helping out, once you root with Towelroot head on over to the Note 3 development section. There are several KK ROM's . As far as a best one, "we" as a community don't label a single ROM as best. Each developer does their best to supply us with a free product. Certainly some are better, than others. It is left to the user to read and make decisions for themselves.

Thank you Roostercruiser,
I understand there could be several ROM. I am not asking what is "BEST" rom, if you could just direct me to several ROMs option, that would be helpful ? That's all I need !
Here you go.

Is there any cyanogenmot for Note 3 (AT&T) ?
I found this but it does not say if it is for AT&T or not: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=hlte
Also, can anyone please give me any link where I can get STOCK AT&T ROM (touch wiz) just in case if I want to go back to stock ROM.
No, there is not a Cyanogenmod ROM for AT&T's locked bootloader on Note 3. Make nandroid of stock version you're already running after you root.
No cyanogen mod for us ... With the locked boot loader we are stuck with Samsung based Roms

Help what is the original firmware for this phone
That's an International model, you can flash whatever country firmware you want.
No I want to flash stock firmware back to it, and you could be right but I have not read that anywhere. Yeah I see the film where for every other variant but the G called Samsung they offered me no help because it wasn't international version. I do have a rooted now but I lost most of my functions with the S Note and Spen.

There are LOTS of different firmwares you can install because the SM-N920G was sold in many countries. Just use Odin to install whatever version you like the most, check out the attached screenshots. If you wanna feel like you did it right, select a firmware that could be compatible with your country, but there is no wrong or right firmware for a G model, because it is international.
Wow it's 4 am I did not expect to get a response so quickly and so thoroughly will put thank you very much.
Hey bro I got that right but I'm trying too hard and I am stuck on the team win screen so I can't get into the recovery how do I get out of that boot loop please and thank you
Hey thank you very much XDA members your advice is always the best even though being new sometimes I don't quite understand it but I was able to fix my first bricked phone it took 3 or 4 days figure it out but I got everything in the pass and now I'm going to try to reboot it again lots of love

n960n flashing

hi guys i am having a problem right now. my first note 9 was a n9600 snapdragon hk variant it was replaced by the vendor due to factory defect and was replace by a n960n single sim 512gb special edition model. my question is, is it possible to flash this with other official firmware to remove bloatwares from KTc to let say other exynos model? thank you in advance.

nope.( maybe with adb commands you can manualy disable/delete packages)https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access
if you root then you can do what ever but if not, then you are stuck. all 4 firmwares/carriers available for the n960n have bloat. And no you cant flash with odin an n960f stock firmware.
thanks @bober10113. sorry im kinda new in this things. another question. is it possible to change those language i see in samsung members and and other samsung apps? because right now all i see is korean language. is there anyway to change this to english/local language?

that would again be because of the csc installed.( one of the big 4 korean carriers. again if rooted wouldint be an issue to switch.
thank you again @bober10113 for giving me a clear picture. another question. is it possible to flash other n960n official firmware? right now i have a korean version of it. is it possible to flash it with n960n english?

well i am not sure if for example LG+ ( LUC ) would have more 'english' menus but you can try.... yeah LG has a carrier and they sell Samsung phones! my note 8 was a N950N LUC and on the box there was an LG+ logo !
past 2 phones have been Korean models that i specifically bought and have not had any issues or defects. I always root and it has been quite easy because it has the OEM unlock option right away, no need to wait 7 days.
also since i dont need knox or samsung pay, root is the way to go for me. so much fun i wouldint live without rooting.
i guess root is the way. i dont need knox and samsung pay either because its not usable in our country and no merchant here supports it. thanks @bober10113. and last can you put me in the direction of the guide to root my phone? again thank you so much.

hi again @bober10113. i have read the link you gave me. now my question is if i install twrp then install magisk will i be able to install local firmwares like n960f? and will this still trip knox? even though its a official firmware? thanks.

once twrp is installed all bets are off. knox will be tripped.
but this will allow you to install magisk disable or delete bloat.
if this is not enough then you will be able to download a new rom.
a rom is a custom firmware. so you could get a rom that has everything you are looking for. usualy all roms for exynos and for N960F/ds. they will also contain full english locale.
have a look in this thread and see which Rom suits you better:

once twrp is installed, fone is considered as being modified. so might aswell take advantage of root.
And if i remember correctly to be able to boot into system, right now on the note 9 you need magisk to be flashed in twrp recovery.
so there issint really a way around it for now.( others can confirm or correct me on this).
alexander rom might be the exception though. read thread and post questions there if need be concerning a rootless install.
but magisk su has an 'su hide' feature where it will hide the system modification and root status from certain apps. you can even hide magisk from specific apps too. so if you need to install specific software that only runs in stock unmodified systems, it may very well work if these features are enabled correctly.
thank you ver much @bober10113. will check those threads. and go on with twrp magisk custom rom combo.

well global firmware(if there is such a thing) would be more towards the n960f since it is more popular and also the same same chipset as ure phone. its sold in UK, greater asia, india, Oceania etc...)
the n9600 is a snapdragon chip. and only sold in china and south America.
but regardless you cant flash stock firmware on different model devices. its a known fact.
if you root then u can flash custom n960f roms no problem on the n960n.(i have it too and been flashing all sorts of custom roms made for the F variant)

u cannot flash any other stock firmware than n960n with odin.
if you want to flash a custom rom.zip , you need to install twrp recovery and root. this will void warranty and also trip knox and some services will no longer work:
samsung pay
might be others.
please read the guides and discussion forums for more information on rooting.

what do you think, because I am a beginner I better use the current stock ROM (N960N) or have to replace another ROM? actually I just don't like Korean accents and Korean network operator logos when I turn it on or trun off my device because I'm already outside Korea. then what is the ROM recommendation for me?

As a beginner the best and most important thing you need to do is research and read up on these topics.
Head over to the development forum and see what each rom offers and choose the one which sounds most suitable for you.
None of us can answer whats best for you dude only you know that.
The nice thing is you can flash and try out as many roms as you want!

I too want to flash the Spanish stock ROM, so as to get rid of d the bloatware and also to use Samsung Pay. A friend of mine told me to buy the Korean version and then flash the Spanish stock ROM, which he did with his note 8 and didn't trigger Knox. I'm getting the Secure Check Fail: Bootloader error when trying to flash with Odin, it's stuck at SYSTEM flashing. Don't know what to do anymore, tried rebooting everything, changing USB ports, running Odin as an admin, and flashing different versions of Android.
Can anyone help?

you say that u bought a sm-n960n (was told to)
then u say that you were aslo told to flash a spanish firmware from a sm-n960f device.
that is very very misleading.
again, you cannot flash firmware from a different model.

Strongly agree to you ....

I know for a fact that the Korean variant of the Note 9 and the international variant both run on the exact same hardware. With the only differences being in the bloatware included with the Korean variant. So theoretically speaking installing the Spanish N960F/D variant's OS onto the N960N should work perfectly without any issues

it work only if you flash a custom ROM, even thought they are the same but you cannot flash a F/D firmware with odin in N model, it mos be a bootloader thing or something else.
by the way the n9600 is a snapdragon model so that is even more impossible.

Note 8 downgrade to Oreo 8.0 **PLEASE HELP**

Ok I'm hoping somebody can please help me! I've been searching for a long time now (5+ months) and I FINALLY found a Note 8 that had a Baseband version of 5 (b/c from my understanding, the bootloader/Basebands 6 and up CANNOT be downgraded via Odin)
So I bought the phone, and was all excited to finally get Android Version 8 (Oreo) back on my phone (there's a specific reason I really want Version 8 Oreo on my phone)
So I downloaded Odin, updated my usb drivers on my computer, and then when it came to downloading the correct firmware, I then realized that I couldn't find ANY version 8 Oreo Firmware with the Baseband 5 version!!!! They were all 4s or 3s...
So am I just s*** outta luck or what? Or maybe I just haven't looked in the right places or what?? PLEASEEE someone help....I'd appreciate it Sooooo much ...thanks

Wait so that custom ROM is Android Version 8/Oreo though? And is it for Baseband 5? Also, aren't the firmware that u load onto it phone with Odin have to be specifically for your model phone? Sorry for all the questions...I just really don't know about this stuff.....
But yaa...if it's for sure going to work for my Note 8 (SM-N950N)...then ya send the download link...thx
