Is it possible?
I don't see any easy way to see what new notifications you may have when they come in without actually unlocking the device.
Thanks
I´m using NILS for that, and I´m very happy with this app.
Disable ALL (android) Notifications for the lockscreen in settings, and allow NILS to do that...for me it works very well.
Screen can Wake up, if you want...or not...if you like it.
I've been using WON - Wake On Notification, which is doing exactly what it says. When I get a new notification it wakes up the phone to lockscreen, and it has blacklist (specific app ignore) functionality. Works perfectly!

Where you find that? Not found on play store. Google search shows a play store link for it, but just goes to "item not found"

Yeah, you're right. That's strange, I only just installed it a week ago. That said, you can point APK Pure at the app in order to get the APK here: https://apkpure.com/won-wake-on-notification/com.silverfinger.wake
I use Glimpse Notifications; it uses the standard lockscreen and merely wakes the device to show you the lockscreen when something comes in.
It has a lot of extra features for blacklisting certain apps, quiet times, pocket detection, wake when lifted, etc.
And it is totally free, genuinely.

You two are talking about completely different things... The OP was talking about Toasts, not about lockscreen apps. But AFAIK there is still no way to hide the message in the the toast.

But something very weird happened. I was at the ATT store yesterday, the HTC 8X on display was connected. I looked up its number, and I texted it from my existing Windows Phone 7 (Samsung Focus S), and there was no Toast Notification! I tried several times.....with the screen locked, not locked and so on. The tile notification indicated there was a new text message each time, but not display on the screen. I quietly snickered to myself, and then happily purchased the HTC 8X yesterday (and I was actually some sort of 100th customer thing after Black Friday, and I got $250 worth of accessories for free!).
But to my chagrin, the first text I got this morning.....TOAST NOTIFICATION, and everyone since. So why did they not come up in the store but do now.
Does anyone know how to make the quick status notification for Xbox games work on the lock screen. I have added it, but as far as I can tell, it doesn't work.

So how do we get this build which eliminates the toast notification for texts? It worked perfectly...the tile notification updated, but no texts came to the lock screen or Start screen.

Guidelines and checklist for toast notifications

Inappropriate use of toast notifications

When will Microsoft developers begin to use these guidelines? lol
I just found out what toast notofications really do...They violate your privacy...This is a very important reason for me to switch back to android or go for an iPhone! I would hate to leave wp though...It's unacceptable...If i'm using my phone next to a friend of mine and my girl sends me something horny, well, it's not a nice experience! This has already happened to me along with similar situations...
Could you use Driving Mode as a work-around?
If you have a spare bluetooth device (such as an no longer used earpiece) it might be easier to do this than using a switch in settings. You wouldn't need to touch the phone, all you would need to do is turn on/off the BT device as and when you need to block texts.

hahaha yeah that was funny I admit it!
As a workaround you could enable the phone to read the incoming messages out loud so your friend doesn't have to invest the energy to read it.
On a serious note, I find theta complaint very far fetched. Unless your friend is staring directly at your screen, it'll be hard to read what your girlfriend wrote. If he is watching your screen, it is common courtesy to look away when someone receives a text or message.
Either way, you can always swipe the incoming toast notification away.
Edit: and since the toast will really only show the first few words of a message, I'd find it challenging to put something raunchy or embarrassing in those t or 6 words.
"I wanna f your friend!"
There is much on the internet on how to get notifications working on AOSP, but nothing seems to actually work.
After much time and trial and error, I have found an app that allows me to see SMS only on the Galaxy Gear with NULL_ rom installed.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gnst.app.eventmirror
You need to install it on both the phone and watch
Please let me know if you got anything else working!

Tablet talk and SWapp link are both on the play store and work well. Tablet talk is good for SMS/MMS and calls. SWapp link can do that + other notifications. Sprocket is also available for SMS.
Does Tablet Notifier work on the gear for other notifications as well or just SMS?
It seems to only work for SMS, although the app says it will work for other apps as well.
I couldn't get SWapp link to work at all. Followed all the instructions and everything. Anything I am missing?
It would be nice to get all app notifications.

I had no problem getting SWapp link working. I ran the app/setup process on my phone first and then repeated on my Gear. Swapp link just feels like it needs a little more polish and battery life could be improved. I'm sure there are variances from device to device but it seems to be working ok.
The main problem I am having with the notifications is that they don't sync. For example, if I mark a notification as read on the watch, it never gets marked that way on the phone....the notification LED remains lit and the notification is still in the shade. The same is true when I read a notification on the phone....it still shows as unread on the watch. I also wish missed notifications on the watch showed up in the notification shade. There is no obvious way to tell on the watch that you've missed a notification.
Lastly, many of the remote functions (e.g. google voice, show notification, remote launch app) are blocked by the lockscreen. With my old phone (Galaxy S3) showing a notification would automatically unlock the device and show the notification (I only use slide to unlock). With my G3, the lockscreen has to be bypassed manually.
I'm looking for a app, or setting to show my ICE (in case of emergency) on my lock screen.
I'm using Android 5.1.1 on a CM12 rooted device.
I've being looking on the internet and the Play store, but couldn't find a app or setting there.
Thanks for sharing your information
I'm using Power Toggles and added my ICE contact as a shortcut.
Voila - ICE contact reachable from the lock screen.

But I've already got my own information on that place (in case of losing my phone)
And second, the tekst you can enter in the "lock screen message" place, will only "loop" across my screen.

Does this APP work out fine on 5.1.1? I've saw some reviews on this app that showing a lot off issues. Ik don't bother to pay for a app, unless i'm certain it works out fine.
Rather have a free and payed version of the app.

I'm on 5.1.1 on my Nexus 6 and it works great. I enter all of my information and do all of my updates on the Family Medical Info web site, which will email the new file to your phone.
I don't really care for its lockscreen, so I use a shortcut to it in the Xposed Gravity Box module instead. There are probably other ways of doing it as well.

Works fine for me on 5.1.1. The issue people are having is that it doesnt add a widget to your current lock screen, it replaces your lock screen with their own (and it looks like it is an Eclair or FroYo lockscreen). If you have security set up on your lockscreen, that is where it gets borked. It will add a second lock screen. I don't know if this will ever get fixed, but I use a Motorola KeyLink to lock/unlock my phone. i figure if i get hit by a car, and the EMT is working on me, my keys will be close by to unlock my phone automatically
I'm running rooted stock and for the life of me I can't make GMail display a heads up notification. Facebook, Hangouts, and other apps work but GMail just displays a normal icon the notification bar.
Anyone else seeing this or is your working correctly. The notification peek setting is on as it should be and is the same for the other apps that are working.
HELP!
Haven't seen it on any app. Where's the heads up settings on stock?

It is called peek and can be set on a per app basis. Look at the app info and you will see a peek slider to enable/disable.
OK, 'allow peeking' is turned on for my apps, but not popping up. Might be the rom I'm on...will check its thread. Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "app info". I don't see anything like a peek setting in my Gmail settings or in App Manager. Or are you talking about this peek app in the Play Store? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jedga.peek.free&hl=en

Were you able to figure this out on the ROM you are on? I have the same issue, not popping up.
Stock rooted and no notifications are working for any apps
I flashed all the partitions with the factory images and restored 200 apps with TiBu so I have no idea why.

Hi, no still not working on the stock rom LightRom that I'm using.
I found a quote in that thread that states it would work on AOSP roms...
aosp: "It also has app opps/privacy guard, led notification, support for layers and Heads Up. The latter is about the only thing I didn't care for. I don't like having to blacklist the apps I don't want heads up notifications from. Everything seemed very stable though. All that said, after two days with the aosp build, I'm back to LightRom."
The only app that doesn't work for me is GMail. I am starting to think that it is a GMail problems and not the OS.

Yeah, I gave up on the new MM build. It's too green & I know the Dev's are working their darnnest to get all working properly. So I flashed back to 5.1.1 on my favorite CM RoM for now while the dust settles.

I think that's exactly correct. I just got my Nexus 5X yesterday. It has Marshmallow and I haven't rooted it.... yet. But I have made the same observation. Gmail app doesn't peek. It makes the notification sound and a small icon appears on top left corner of the screen when I get an email but it doesn't peek. I don't have this problem with any other App; all of them show the heads up notification. Peeking is enabled for all the apps but still only Gmail has this issue.
Frustrated, I googled but this is the only topic that came up that was relevant to my problem. All other posts just talked about how to enable/disable peeking on Android 6.0
I have the same issue, all aps except Gmail shows heads up. Running MM 6.0.1 on Nexus 6, still no change

Now you can lock your mobile apps using your fingerprint.
• No Peaking in recent apps
• Fully optimized
• No battery Drain
Note :
• you must register your fingerprint in your device
[Settings]> [Security]> [Nexus Imprint]
• Turn On Accessibility Service , this app will not work without enabling it.
[Settings]>[Accessibility]> turn on > [App Locker : Service]
• Enable Device Admin to prevent unauthorized uninstall.
[Settings]> [Security]> [Device Administrators]> turn on > [App Locker]
Please let me know your thoughts and review.

I've installed and will give feedback.
Needs a timeout. Once you open an app it should record that the app is open and if you switch tasks it should not lock you out until a timeout timer has expired.

No. Because that takes away options. What if I'm having a party at home and give my phone to a friend to check out a funny pic or leave it on and open with Spotify playing to my audio system and people can chose a song. I'd rather then turn the feature on at home so people don't snoop.
It shouldnt be location based... It should require positive user intervention for the sake of most flexibility.
And to make sure someone else doesn't turn off the feature themselves, when the widget is pressed to turn app lock on or off, it asks for finger print as verification to make sure it's you that tapped it.
I have some Google Rewards credits, I will use them to purchase as well.
Some feedback. It should be "No Peeking" not "No Peaking".
And after install, the "App Locker: Need Permissions"
"Locker" is spelled as "Locer"
Unless that was intentional for some reason.
I'll give you some more feedback as well.
Sorry to be a "Grammar Nazi", but people don't trust apps if they have spelling mistakes etc.

i am really happy that you found these mistakes. today i'll be fixing that , and some more optimization.
Here is the future plan.
update 1= some performance optimizations. (today or max tomorrow)
update 2=UI improvement + option to add interval between next lock. (and some custom features depending on your feedback ) (this weekend)
update 3=password + pattern locking. (next weekend)
I think what we're missing here, is a false screen of some sort. My girlfriend absolutely hates that I'm friends with some people, and likes to snoop. Instead of blatantly requesting a finger print, maybe add a plain black screen that has a "unfortunately this application has stopped unexpectedly" or what ever the default force close message is, with no visible request for a Finger Print, but the scanner is ready and waiting. There's an app on the market that does this, but I'd feel better paying a developer on xda than a company thats probably data mining my "hidden" apps. Cheers!
