Auto Wi-Fi ON option not found on sony xperia xz1 - Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Questions & Answers

Anyone able to enable the new Oreo auto wifi On option? It seems this option is not on the native software of the xz1 compact like it is on other devices.

Does this work?

Tried that. Unfortunately did not work

Maybe you're missing drivers?

So I downloaded the Xperia driver. Unzipped. Do I need to do anything else to the driver software? Sorry a newbie here.

When you plug in the phone to the computer, there's probably an unknown device in Device Manager. Right click on it and choose update drivers, then select the folder you unzipped the drivers to and let Windows install it.

OK did that. It won't let me install the xz1 driver that I downloaded. Keeps telling me current driver (mtp USB) is the most current and up to date driver. Try to work around it but it keeps preventing me from installing the new driver. And if I delete the driver and unplug replug in phone it automatically installs that previous driver.

Well, I'm out of ideas, sorry I couldn't be of help.

Well I appreciate all the suggestions. I'll keep playing around. Not that important of a feature to go to all this trouble. Thanks again!

Works for me (Windows 10 Fall Creators Update on pc, xz1 compact v47.1.A.2.374)

just wondering, this option only turns on the wifi? not off?

Just in case....did you enable USB debugging?

Yeah usb debugging good. Pretty sure it's all bc my laptop is not letting the phone be recognized by the command prompt. I'm gonna try it on the wife's laptop tonight. See if that works...

Have you tried IFTTT or tasker? You can setup to get the location and turn wifi on or off based on that

You can also use the app "WiFi Automatic" from j4velin: works wery well. Actually i'm using this app to auto disable wifi if not connect for more than 5 minuts, leaving the auto reenable to android 8 built-in option, but you can define on or more zone (by GSM cell) for auto re-enable

Android Bootloader interface (fix)

I don't know if any else is experiencing this, but when I'm in boot loader mode and I plug my device into windows it gives me a error (device cannot start code 10). When this happens I cannot use fast boot at all it will be stuck there waiting for device. So I have a temporary fix:
1.go to device manager while in boot loader
2. Right click on your device in device manager
3. Click uninstall driver.
4. Remove your device from the computers USB.
5.plug it back in and before it automatically installs the drivers go to device manager and right click on Android under your device name and click scan for hardware changes. Now it recognizes my device in the boot loader interface.
I wanted to post this in case anyone else is experiencing this problem.
Never happened to me, but a nice find anyway!
I installed the universal driver and I have no problems.

You mean the Google USB drivers, then yeah I have it too, but when I check
It says device cannot start code 19, so that temporarily fixes it until you unplug the device and put it back.
Hello all,
Just wondering, but are you using windows XP by any chance?

Yeah, don´t let me even install the drivers
Yup..have same probleme....what ca we do????i can't flash kernel :crying: :crying:
1. Why change to a brand new OS if you didn't first check it's compatible?
2. You might have to go through the same process as Windows 8 to get the drivers installed, e.g. turn off signature checking and then install them manually
I've been having the same issue. I've tried all the Win8 methods with no luck. With a name like "8.1", it implies that it's not a brand-spanking new OS. Hopefully there's an 8.1-specific solution soon.
It doesn't even recognize the device, it only says "Enumeration failed" in Device manager. Reverting to W8 backup unfortunately...

I was gonna say the same thing, but if it just not work, I think at this moment its really an incompatible device

windows 8.1 was released?
Same thing happening here with my Neo V.
I just upgraded to windows 8.1 preview two days ago and just realised yesterday when i wanted to flash a kernel that my computer detects it as usb enumeration failed , theres an icon saying the drive malfunctioned but i think it should be driver fault.

Regarding the Fastboot drivers i have contacted microsoft and might be a fault at their part as they told me that not all drivers are installed in the preview version...
bump .......anyone figure this out?
we will just have to wait for windows 8.1 stable or downgrade for now... , no other workarounds yet

Last time i checked wubi was not working from windows 8 if you installed it with EFI support though. If your still on old Bios mode you will be good i think.
Ps. Ubuntu dropped wubi so they found out it's not working very well with EFI.

Your GEAR has been ROOTED?
I don't have any idea on ROOTING and the result of rooting affecting the MobileGO, but I can use my GEAR with this program.
You need to install Samsung USB Driver.
Disconnect Bluetooth (if connected with the device)
Connect the GEAR with PC/Notebook via USB cable
Now, it connects, then you can see all the installed apps (video, photos, etc.) on the MobileGo.
** Remarks : if GEAR is connected with the device via bluetooth when connecting to PC/Notebook, you cannot see any installed apps (but still you can install app to GEAR).

In that case its not possible. Your gear MUST BE ROOTED in order to modify the system partition.

I had the same issue.
You need to enable virtualization in the BIOS.
Just checked the virtualizations check boxes, and this issue will be resolved.
Make sure you have installed HAXM installer on your SDK Manager.

Looks like your PC doesn't support HAXM. You need to try other from that(×86 emulator won't work on your PC). Try ARMv7 or google APIs system image for your AVD.

AFAIK, your hardware is not compatible to do so, not sure which one but either one of this need to be upgrade, Your CPU/GPU/motherboard. But I think it's CPU, well of course if only it is upgradable. But for now, better try other than x86 emulator.
Let's hope if someone have a better solution to make it possible will jump in your post.

After you download SDK and make sure you run the setup located in: {SDK_FOLDER}\extras\inte\Hardware_Accelerated_Execution_Manager\intelhaxm.exe
Make sure in Android Studio, the command "intelhaxm.exe" has been changed to "intelhaxm-android.exe". And if you get the error "VT not supported" during the installation disable Hyper-V on windows features. You can execute this command dism.exe /Online /Disable-Feature:Microsoft-Hyper-V. You will also need "Virtualization Technology" to be enabled on your BIOS.

perhaps I was using the old naked drivers from 2010. New drivers are from 2014 and have more definition in them. Nonetheless, they are there for anyone needing them.
OLD
DriverVer = 12/06/2010,4.0.0000.00000
NEW
