Hi Guys,
I just got a Note 8 and absolutely love everything about it. Coming from the 6P, I was worried about not having the stock Android experience, but Samsung apps are up to par with Google's if not slightly better.
HOWEVER...
I do use the Google ecosystem (mainly Google Drive) and have a few questions about integrating Samsung and Google apps to provide a more seamless experience.
1. When I use Bixby to search for something on Google (ex. Hi Bixby, Google the meaning of life), Bixy would open Samsung Internet to search on Google. I've went into Settings > Apps > Bixby and made sure it's not the default app for anything. Is there a way to have Bixby use Chrome instead?
2. When I use Bixby to set a reminder, it's saved into the Samsung Reminders app. When I use Google Assistant to set a reminder, it saves it into the Google app. Is there a way to default this so that Bixby saves it to the Google app? The reason being is because I use Google Inbox app, which also displays my reminders. But it doesn't show reminders saved in Samsung Reminders
Any advice appreciated!

Short answer no. I use both Google assistant and Bixby.

Do you use Bixby reminders? I've had a few instances where I forgot to do something because I was not around my phone to have Bixby alert me...
Had it been synced to Google Reminders, I would've known since I was on my Macbook, which has the Inbox app.....
Anyone know alternative solutions? Wish Samsung Reminder could sync with Google Reminders
1. Ok Google
2. Remind me to do.....at .....
Done
Can't you set Bixby up to do a specific task. When you ask Bixby to do something you briefly get the window afterword that give you options to "teach me how". I would try that, maybe you can get your results, or watch YouTube for sakiteck and his Bixby tutorials and there is a way to set a command to do a list if things.

If one was to use the Samsung Note it seems that Google Dashboard would have a copy of all contacts, locations visited, locations searched,Youtube videos watched etc.. Is there a way to prevent all that from happening and from any record being left online with Google's Google Dashboard? This is pretty much the same thing almost as that Carrier IQ.
Bump.. Anyone
I also would like to know that. ..

I am not really sure if I understood your question completely ... but I try
Did you try to disable syncing in the settings? (privacy, accounts)
If you do not want your calendar to sync, disable the use of Google calendar, or use an app that doesn't try to sync with your Google account in the first place.
In my country I also saw the possibility to uncheck tracking on the Google page, again under "settings". Google.com has this too. I think Google will remember this in a cookie, therefore if you delete cookies regularly there's no point adapting the settings ...

My Story Skip if you like
I know some people don't really like those nasty system applications like social hub and samsung account. It takes up space!
Some of those applications even use your memory!
Anyway I remove system apps a lot every time I flash. I just want to use the necessary applications and install what I need
Comment below if you know more apps that can be removed or fix some of my English and/or list etc
How to
1.Root your phone!( look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552792 how too)
2.Download link2sd from playstore.
3.Start link2sd
4.Tab the unwanted app you want to remove.
5.Tab "Actions"
6.Do your action(Freeze or Uninstall?)
7.If necessary press back to get back to the list and go to step 4 or if you are done go to step 8.
8. press beck again to exit duh.

SNS and SNSAccount are used to sync/backup/restore/fetch your contacts (and calendar) from your SNS accounts (e.g. google).
Do not freeze them if some of your contacts are saved to your google account, or if you use another SNS app (facebook, twitter, google, samsung, viber, whatsapp, etc)). The same goes for Google Contacts Sync and Google Calendar Sync.
Also, I wouldn't freeze DRM. Judging by its name, it's used to authorize applications that use DRM.
Lastly, this doesn't belong here. It's not even Ace related.

Thanks.
I guess you are right you can put this everywhere. :S But yea I do this on my ace phone that is why it is here I mean why not many people only search their phone and don't look at general things.
Hi,
I've just moved from Blackberry to HTC One which is my first Android device and am having some issues with the search functionality.
On the Blackberry, a search string would get me results from Mails, Messages, Apps, Settings, everything. On the HTC, I only get very limited results. Most importantly I can't figure out how to search email messages other than the subject/sender.
Considering Google is the search specialist, this should have been a basic feature. Or am I missing something? Are there any 3rd party apps that can do this?
Thanks..
Try Gmail and Google now is good hold down the home button
Tried it. Doesn't search message body or sms'. Only sender and subject.
You'll have to open the individual apps to do this. Google Now is a generation 1.0 application, it's not feature complete yet. In general, it'd require modifications both in Google Now and the other apps in order to share the data.
You could in theory try to find a replacement mail and SMS app that does talk to Google Now (shows up under Phone Search in Google Now Settings), but that is up to the individual apps. I don't know of any offhand.
Google search may be able to do what your asking. I know it has a bunch of options for what you want to search on your phone.

After recently purchasing a couple of Google Home Minis I have realised that Google seem incapable of bringing their departments together to make the gadget work properly with Google Calendars. Its so embaressing as the Amazon Echo actually works better with Google Calendars .. go figure!! If anyone can offer third party integration suggestions I would be really grateful.
First thing I noticed was that if I asked for my appointments for today, tomorrow, January etc it completely ignores my all day events .... I'm in the UK and I found a workaround for this by setting the language in the Google Home app to English (United States), apparently the U.S.A get new software versions earlier, indeed after this tweak in settings the Google Assistant recognises and reads out all day events.
The above regional fix however does not offer a solution for adding an all day event. The Google assistant does not recognise ' hey google add a new all day event' it still insists on asking for a time and if you say 'all day' for the time, it does not accept - anyone have a workaround or solution for this?
One other very annoying ommission is lack of integration with Google Keep. If I access my calendar via web browser, Googe Keep is tightly integrated for lists and nots, yet the Google Home team who seem to lacking a single iota of common sense have completley ommitted the option to use Google Keep for notes, lists and shopping list. - can anyone offer a solution or workaround?
The last and equally as annoying is if I say for example 'hey google what are my appointments for January' the reply is something like 'you have 8 appointments in January, here are your first 3' - who at Google in their infinite wisdom decided that everyone on the planet will only need to hear their next 3 appointments? Actually beginning to think that the people driving Google Home do NOT have an single grain of common sense between them. - Anyone have a solution or work around?
There are some other gripes like when adding an apointment using voice I don't have the option of adding a location, which is very important quite often I find....
Apologies for long-winded post wanted to put it all out there in case anyone would like to share solutions, altertive solutions to Google Calendar or thoughts....
I second all you've said. No integration with G Suite calendars either. Had to return mine.
Greetings all,
I have an unlocked Note 9 (Model #SM-N960U1) I bought directly from Samsung that I use on the T-mobile network. I keep my schedules using Samsung's calendar app. When I attempt to add a location to my schedules more often than not the location can't be found. Apparently, my unlocked Note 9 is using "Foursquare" as Samsung's calendar maps search engine. Is there a way to remove Foursquare from my device, or at the very least select Google maps as the default for Samsung's calendar app?
You could always disable the app through adb commands
Clear Search
I haven't figured out how to get rid of "power by Foursquare" in the Samsung Calendar and make it go back to using Google Maps, but I did find a work around:
X out of the text in the SEARCH field
Select your current location from the list of pre-populated choices
It will let you switch from "Keyword" to "Address"
Then you can search for the address you really want
You should then be able to click DONE from the results
I prefer the Samsung Calendar widget since it has Transparency as an option but I guess I'll have to find a 3rd party widget that opens Google Calendar instead.
