Cannot send Whatsapp or Make call through Phone with Watch - LG Watch Sport

Hi All,
I'm from the UK so have imported this watch in from the USA and am not using the SIM within the watch.
With my previous Moto 360 I could make a call, albeit through the phone, by using Google Assistant through the watch. e.g. 'Call Joe Bloggs Mobile'.
Also I could send a Whatsapp directly from the watch. e.g 'send a whatsapp to joe bloggs will be there in two miunutes'.
With this watch when I try to make a call it just says calling, the little bar swings and then nothing, with the whatsapp I just get a message around the lines of 'Whatsapp is not installed or needs updating'.
Mobile connection is turned off, I turned it on on the watch and rebooted, to try to turn it on and then off, but it just comes up disabled.
Sending a text used to fail, but this seems to be working now.
How can I make this watch behave more like the Moto 360 and allow sending through the Phone?

Go into settings, connectivity, mobile, and turn it off. Go into settings, Bluetooth, scroll down and turn on "play phone vice call on watch". Reboot, and try again.

Hi,
Mobile was already off after a reboot, I guess because I don't have a sim in the watch.
Under Settings --> connectivity --> Bluetooth I don't see that option. Just the option to turn it off/on, my phone that's connected and Available devices.
My watch has the April 2017 patch on it, v2.5.0.172604017

Have you joined the beta program for Android Oreo 8? Or do you have Android 7.1.1 running? I joined the beta and upgraded to 8 and had all sorts of problems, most importantly no android pay, so I left the beta and downgraded again. weirdly I'm on patch 1 May 2017. I do have the W280A model though issues by AT&T.

Here's a screenshot of the setting

That's offs as I don't have that option. Just having there phone make the call would be good.

If I'm sitting at my computer Hangouts will notify me and then 20 seconds later my phone will ring. It's always been that way for me though. Update made no difference.
I'm using an actual Google Voice number not carrier integration. If you are using integration you may want to disable, call in to Sprint to make sure the soc code dropped off, and then enable it again.
Thanks. I had to disable Google voice. Did Sprint Integration. Phone rings when integration is disabled.

I have completely uninstalled Google Voice and it still rings to my computer first. It is very annoying. I also don't like the fact that I have to hit 1 to answer the call now.

DId you check your google voice setting ?
login to your g voice account> Settings>CALLs>turn off Call Screening.<--this will disable "hit 1 to answer the call "
Also, SETTING>PHONES , here should display your g voice# or ur sprint phone#, make sure your calls forwarded to your mobile.

I had the same problem, here is what I had to do. Go to voice.google.com and go to settings. Click Phones, then click edit below your sprint phone. Click show advanced settings and make sure always ring on weekdays and always ring on weekends is selected then click save. Mine were set on never ring, so my phone would never ring.

I had the same issue, but my "Always Ring" was set correctly. It either corrected itself, or changing roms helped. I am currently on Flex 360's Stock w/ Goodies 4.2.2 Beta 3, and it has been a pretty great rom. Couple minor items FC, but nothing major.
Tried the suggestions but still did not ring.

Out of town using Google voice because of poor cell coverage in Oxford Ohio. Working great. All calls ringing in. We will see when I return to MI tomorrow. Hope it's fixed.

MightyText app questions, how is this working?

Maybe more of a hardware question than an app question, but it happens with this particular app. I needed a texting app for my stock K1 running LP 5.1.1
I decided upon MightyText as I didn't want another phone number as some of the other apps provide. MightyText syncs my phone and the K1 within seconds. If I get a text to the phone, I get a notification on the tab within a second or two. Same happens if I send a text from the tablet, I get a notification on the phone again within a second or two. I realize that the phone is using it's cellular radio to send the text. Phone is a rooted LG Optimus G Pro running KK.
Here's where it gets strange! If I turn off WiFi and BT on the phone, when I write a text on the tablet and hit send, my phone receives and sends the text. WiFi and BT are still off. I looked to see if the app was somehow turning the radios on, on the phone, but it looks like they are staying off (unless they are coming on for a fraction of a second). I'm trying to figure out how the tablet is communicating with the phone if the radios are turned off. Also, the app has a phone icon. if I hit the phone icon on the tablet app, the phone makes a call to whoever I happened to be texting. I cannot talk through the tablet (I don't think), but the call does go through. I'm unsure what the functionality of this item is...why would I want the tablet to initiate a phone call when I cannot talk through the tablet?
Phone radio you mean phone, internet (3G/4G) here?
Mighty text working through network/internet. I will take simple explanation like this. SMS -> your phone -> SMS send to mighty text service -> mighty text service passes it to your table. Similar your tablet sends the text -> text go to mighty text service -> Mightytext service passes it to your device AND to the receiver on your behalf.
MightyText function like a bridge to connect your phone and other device and running through the internet.
Once your device connects with MightyText service, MightyText will become a behalf assistant to receiving and send your message.
Thats mean your sensitive information will be readable by a 3rd person (or group person who know?)

send text through assistant with phone's number

i have an lg watch sport with LTE service. every time i ask assistant to send a text it insists in using the watch's number. i have tried factory restoring already. it is connected through Bluetooth to the phone. the weird part is it seems to work if i disable cellular and restart the watch, but if i turn cellular back on it goes back to insisting on using the watch's number, this even if i disable cellular again or have no service. it just fails out but insists on trying to use the watch number still. any help would be appreciated
This is something Google needs to fix but it looks like they've abandoned Android Wear for the time being

Looks like it's working now. Appears to have been with the latest Google search update. I have cellular disabled and using Assistant I can send text via voice command. On the other hand some things are broken like asking for score updates.

Now it's not working again. Geez. What a **** fest with this watch

Un-tethered and on LTE, impressed today!

Although i have the W281 with SIM card, normally its tethered via bluetooth to my smartphone, so its rare I use the watch completely standalone.
Today we went out for the day, and I left my smartphone at home by mistake, no problem I though, I've turn on the mobile connectivity on my watch!
I was totally surprised that although my smartphone was 100 miles away at home, I continued to receive all my notifications as usual.
Also, through the messages app, not only was I receiving sms txt messages from my smartphone, I could reply to the txt messages using my smartphone number, not the sim card number in my watch (although this is an option too)....remember this is in the UK, not the US when using AT&T number sharing.
What it was doing, is using the 'cloud sync', my watch connected to the cloud via mobile data, and my phone connected to the cloud left at home.
I also received whatsapp messages, but unfortunately, there is no option to reply when on mobile data, unlike when tethered by bluetooth. However I have discovered that Hangouts works when just on mobile data, didn't think was the case that long a go and thought it needed to be connected via bluetooth. Not so it seems now.
Now get this one, I have the 'camera' app on my watch, so you can remotely get an image from either the front or rear camera from the smartphone, and remotely take a picture. I could not believe that this still works when on mobile data, and my phone 100 miles away on its charging dock at home, yes, I got a live video feed from my phone at home on the face of my watch, amazing!

Wow!
That sounds like a major positive!
I don't usually leave my phone behind, but to be honest I leave LTE on anyway.
I'm intrigued by the cloud sync. Could you explain that please??
On your Android phone, open the Android Wear App.
Touch the Settings icon.
Touch Privacy & personal data > Cloud sync.
Move the switch to the On position.
I think its on by default.
It simply by name, allows connection between watch and phone by the internet when not connected directly by bluetooth.

Having issues calls on watch via phone

Hi,
I am getting annoyed with my Watch now as it doesn't seem to behave consistently.
Making a call via my phone using the watch:
I used to be able to say 'call <persons name>' to the watch and it would initiate the call on the Phone. No I just get a 'calling xyz' display/timer, that then does nothing.
Many Thanks,
Paul
Bloody annoying.
Sometimes it will ask me for an option where to call from.. Phone or watch.
I usually keep cellular off.
Text via google assistant does not work unless it's via phone sim. Stupid implementation. Hope they fix this.
