I just installed the official CM 7.1 on my x8 and everything on it is brilliant except my wifi isn't working. After some reading I realised that this is a common problem but I'm wondering is there any fix for it yet?

I think you should use another custom rom which based on cm7.2. That's gonna be better.
oh ok! Any suggestions? Will wifi work on those?

try MiniCM7, everything works and UI is very smooth: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362585
you need nAa kernel to run this rom, get it here!: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350484
Thats fantastic, thank you very much! Just installed it there and it seems awesome!
I've been having this problem with my p970 running CM 7.2. Ill be dicking around on NY dialer or even just dialing, and then it force closes and it says a message that "android.process.acore has stopped responding" this has happened in the last handful of nightlies, but not before that. I have tried reflashing, I have tried wiping everything (data, cache, dalvik) and I still get this error. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. Has anyone else got this message and or know of a fix?

did you restore your apps with titanium?and if you did did you restore data as well??some people solved this by not restoring data for their apps.especially apps that use the sync function.try restoring apps only without data.
I didn't use titanium at all. I just wiped everything and re-downloaded my apps.

Try formatting your SD card cache.not SD card data.only cache.in cwm go to mounts and storage to format it.did you try to fix permissions?if not fix permissions first and check if that helps.

I've already tried the fix permissions thing and it didn't work. I'll try the sd cache.

try some kernels dude ...im using now cyanogenmod 7.2 rc-1 with nova 11c kernel no problems no far
SD cache didn't work at all... Where can I find kernels? Forgive me for sounding like an utter noob :/ I know you can flash them and I know them from linux. If I flash one (other than the default "kang" one" will it delete any of my stuff or make my device operate significantly different? Or will my phone act the same just (maybe) more stable?
also, are kernels specific to a certain build and android version?

Thanks a bunch man! I read your earlier reply earlier today and downloaded a modded version of Nova 11c and so far my phone runs like a beast with laser beams coming out of it. Thanks again for the kernel idea. It never would have crossed my mind xD Which kernel do you think is the best? I'm curious

ANYTIME bro
What new features are in RC?? It's just that I haven't found that in
http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=p970
Anything helps
Hi friends... i'm having this problem since RC stage until the lastest Nightlies including the Stable version:
I'm using CM7 stable now and i got randomly freezes when i try to wake up the phone... anyone have this problem too?...
NOTE: i try changing governors using stock cm7 kernel, and I also change it by huexxx kernel, but still having freezes... i also make a full wipe and reinstall cm7 stable but nothing... any suggestions?
List what apps u have installed. Maybe it app-related.
Also i remember that p500 had random freezes with crt animation on so turn off all animations.
In the CM discussion thread, it was mention that LG provide a faulty driver for 2.3.
For a workaround, use a old kernel which have the old drivers: use the huexxx 4.0/Novav11c with the MOD
Don't use huexxx 4.1 kernel

Try to use a custom kernel (I recommend huexxx kernel 4.0 with mod).
Try to fix permissions too.

I had this problem with all roms I tried... so frustrating when it freeze during night and your clock alarm is on your cellphone.
I tried a full wipe and fresh install with all roms but no success.
The only one who seem to work better is the CM9 nightly 6 ! there is some issues like the phone app crashing ( I'm using a dialer app on the market and it work very well !) The camera is buggy but I dont really need it. The battery ran out faster than others.

Even with ZEUS rom ? i'm using it since first release, and never experienced any SOD
Use CM7 with Huexxx kernel 4.0 with mod. I never had an SOD in 2 months
Listen to this guy!!!
I'm on Cici ROM final.. originally, the CPU min freq set to 200mhz.. I'm having SODs with that.. but after set it to 300, no more SOD.. I think, freeze or SOD on wake up is happening when the CPU is too weak so cannot wake the phone..
I'm running elitemovil 14.1v6 ROM with Semaphore 2.6.1 kernel and would like to get smooth 720p recording.
Stock camera is loosing frames, and I have not found a decent video app which could record 720p in 16:9 mode.
Everything else works very fine, smooth.
There seems to be a 720p patch, but it's quite old and my kernel is a fresh one so I wonder whether it's applicable.

No, I see no option in the ring from stock camera (it's a Android 4.2 camera app). Only two resolutions (HD and nonHD) and location service.
Any idea?

Is it only for .s kernels? Do I need to wipe cache and/or dalvik after installation of this patch?
I tried to get any information about this patch, but have not found any info on the web about it.
Would not like to mess up my installation...

I only used it with S, it was to get 720 working. Never wiped anything but you can do it if u feel better doing it. Doesnt harm anything. Plus you can always make a nandroid backup and restore in the state you left it, if it doesnt work for you
U could flash 2.6.2s as it was the latest version of the unsupported sema kernels

Thank you. Just installed 2.6.2s and everything is OK. Fine and wihout any lags. Did not wipe any cache after flashing a new kernel.
Seems that my ROM is working better with "s"....
I know its not featured in XDA, But its rumoured as one of the best Stock JB rom available.
But I used it, but wifi wont work on iodak v6 and WW v7.
Any ideas?

are you sure you installed stock version, not cm one? if so, restart the phone once or twice, it might fix itself

gapps bug maybe? have you installed a modded google play perhaps, or patched it with lucky patcher? clear cache & data, see if that helps. alternatively, get a hold of 4.1 gapps and flash it?
