Hi,
I had 2016 gear vr to work with my note 7, I've now got the note 8 and found sadly that it doesn't fit the 2016 model. I've got a suspicion that I have been brought the 2017 S8/S8+ model for christmas but concerned if that is the case that the note 8 still wouldn't fit. It's annoying that there is no definite information. If you look on amazon at the model number Samsung SM-R324NZAABTU it states that it will not work with the note 8 but then if you check samsungs website around half way down the page it says "*Gear VR with Controller requires Samsung Galaxy Note8, S8, S8+, S7, S7 edge, Note5, S6, S6 or S6 edge+ to operate" but doesn't specifically say whether it would fit or not.
Could Someone please confirm if it actually fits properly in the 2017 gear vr or if it is no different to the 2016 model? I'm aware other posts have covered this topic just want further clarification.

I have the note 7 vr and the only thing that makes the note 8 not fit is the connection port which can be changed as note 7 and note 5 use different usb ports.
The usb c port is a tiny bit too narrow as it was made for note 7 fit which means that the note 7 was slimmer then note 8.
If it is possible to get the port made for note 8 separate instead of having to buy full vr set.
Or maybe Samsung thinks that all civilians have money trees growing in their back yards and therefore can afford to spend money each year to buy extras that should have been able to carry on from previous models...

This is normal. Same story as Galaxy Note. They told this shi.t to everyone who email them about case for Galaxy Note. After Galaxy Note released at USA they quickly released their case. Just wait for USA sales of Note 2. They don't care about europe and asia buyers.

Agree....I remember starting a petition for it when the note 1 first came out....we ended up having quite a large number of names...and they never cared...but the cases came out very soon after the US note 1 came out....

I suppose it's not good business for an American company to make cases for a device that isn't sold by the carriers over there, it's understandable of course. When the US Note II comes out, they will probably make cases for it, unless the Note II fails to grab the attention of US buyers.
It's not that they don't care. There are no German or English manufacturers who make cases for US-exclusive handsets either, I don't think... It's just not good for business, I imagine.

The Korean times rumoured that the Galaxy Note III will feature a huge 5.9” display! The current Galaxy Note II has a 5.55″ display. The Galaxy Note III will have an AMOLED display and mostly sure the new octa-core processor by Samsung. We are not totally sure if this rumour is true what we do know is Samsung will make smartphones with bigger screens. SamMobile even reported about the GT-I9205 Galaxy Fonblet 6.3 with a 6.3” screen and the GT-I9150 Galaxy Fonblet 5.8 with 5.8” display.
Episode II is mostly the Galaxy Note III
Episode I is the Galaxy S IV.

Oh please, comparing a note 2 or note 3 to a note 5 and functionality is vastly superior as well as design.
Honestly there is no way samsung is going to please everyone, if you dont like the Note 5, get the Note 4 (if you dont already have it). Anyone expecting anything else from the Note 5 besides a slight spec bump (extra GB of RAM) and a redesign, well you werent paying attention.

I have a Note 4 and the Note 5 looks more premium (in some ways, definitely not the back panel which is a fingerprint magnet, at least the black one is).
You should consider looking Note 4. Not note 3
Why not switch to Nokia 6300?
I'm thinking about getting that newfangled HTC HD2. what do you all think?

My iPhone 13 Mini starlight arrived earlier today (thanks Amazon).
Im an IT guy by trade and hobby and have always gravitated towards the larger phones.
However as of recently Ive had the need to have both iPhone and Android devices (work reasons) and up until my Mini arrived, was using the Apple 12 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
However, my usage case gravitated more towards the android for media consumption, file management, social media etc and the iPhone was more work based / apple ecosystem esq / so iMessage, copy and paste between phone and macOS, Apple Pay and Apple CarPlay (Android Auto sux big time)
However it got me thinking that as the usage of iOS was not as screen intensive as the S21 Ultra, a smaller iPhone would make more sense!
Whilst the mini is used alongside the big boy Android, the x2 together fit my work and play requirements beautifully , far mo so than caring around x2 behemoths!
S21 Ultra and Pixel 6
I also have an iPhone in my backpack, but it is my least used device by far. The Note 10 is now my daily, the LG V20 is a backup on alarm duty, and the HTC One has been relegated to security duty, but the Moto X Pure Edition is still my favorite ever (best screen + best sound ever seen and heard on a mobile device). If I didn't desire band 71 LTE, I probably would've ended up just switching back to a higher capacity Pure Edition.
I have 2 phones, the s21 ultra and iphone se.. my s21 ultra is ny daily driver, i was going to make iphone as my daily driver because of the apple watch 7 and ipad pro 2021..but i felt its not the time yet to do this move
I have the galaxy watch 4..but i felt the watch 7 is way better
I've always been a Pixel fan, had each one and have a P6P now. The Galaxy S phones always interest me too and I usually grab one. I don't have 2 at the moment but I'm seeing that S22U in my future. I think the way to fix my dilemma is to have both.

Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Tab S8 series tablets also throttle performance in some apps and games
Samsung recently started rolling out a fresh software update for the Galaxy S22 series. The update addresses the performance throttling issue related to the pre-installed Game Optimization Service (GOS) app. It also introduces a new “Game Performance Management Mode” in the Game Booster to improve CPU/GPU performance. While Samsung is yet to release a similar update for older Galaxy smartphones, a new report from Android Police claims that the performance throttling issue also affects the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup.
In case you missed our previous reports on the matter, Samsung was recently caught throttling the performance of several popular apps and games on Galaxy flagships going back as far as the Galaxy S10. As a result, Geekbench accused Samsung of benchmark manipulation and delisted the last four generations of Galaxy flagships from its library. Although Samsung has already acknowledged the issue and pushed an update for the Galaxy S22 series, things don’t look great for the South Korean OEM.
Android Police has now discovered that the Galaxy Tab S8 Plus and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra also throttle performance when running a version of the Geekbench app with the Genshin Impact package name. As you can see in the following table, the Galaxy Tab S8 Plus and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra throttled performance while running the modified version of Geekbench, with single-core CPU performance taking an 18-24% hit and multi-core performance falling 6-11%.

However, older Samsung tablets like the Galaxy Tab S7, Galaxy Tab S7 FE, and Galaxy Tab S5e did not throttle performance and delivered similar results. The publication further notes that the Galaxy Tab S8 series does not throttle as hard as the Galaxy S22 series, likely due to the fact that its large form factor allows for better heat dissipation.
Now that the new Galaxy Tab S8 series is also embroiled in the controversy, Geekbench has delisted the tablets from its Android Benchmark chart. Samsung is yet to provide a statement on the matter, but we expect the company to release a similar software update for its flagship tablets to address the performance throttling issue.

I JUST had an update in my Tab s8 ultra, and saw no mention of this being addressed yet.
Oddly, there is a quick setting performance button on my s22 ultra, but that is missing on the Tab s8 ultra.
In addition, you can have up to 16gb virtual ram on the s22 series, but only 8 on the Tab s8.
One would think the Tab would have more horsepower than the phone, not visa versa.
