great news

What exactly is Microg?

Im running it on nexus 5. Not yet available for op5 sadly

I've tried this on my Moto g 2015(osprey)
Only problem is, I'm able to DL apps with special app from the play store, but without play services, many of my paid apps don't work because the license is tied to play store/services.
We're really tied to Google, unless I'm missing something here. Gmail calendar etc... Can be accessed via web. But my application that use Google drive to sync, not sure how that works.

How are you making out not having Google service?
How are you reading emails, having phone contact etc..

It's an alternative to gapps.
Or in other words, if you don't like gapps or don't trust them, you can use MicroG.
You can probably find a better answer on Google.

This, plus MicroG is supposed to be very resource friendly, as opposed to the notoriously battery hungry Google Services.

export them to vcf from the computer. Emails work fine from browser, although its possible to install k9mail or gmail. Even google play music would work. The problem is hangouts, that doesnt work at all.

Can I find this rom for my jalebi??

Has anyone tried it?
I have Omni + microG at the moment.
I would like to have some feedback before trying it.

Xposed and LP fixed some paid app issues I've been having. If your paid apps aren't behaving install Xposed 88.2 with LP and enable license stuff in LP's xposed settings.
Battery with MicroG is so much better than Gapps.

Yes, I flashed it to my OP5 the day before yesterday. I've done a clean install (as described on the HP), runs very smooth.
It's great, all my apps, that depend on Google Play are working now. Very fast location fix (compared to Lineage without gapps).
I'm very happy so far!

Tested it on Xiaomi Mi3. The lack of Gapps do not affect much given the speed and battery boost I get. The initial setup is a bit cumbersome (Read installing applications)
Great if you are into FOSS ecosystem.

Thanks for your answer.
I have already ran microG on CyanogenMod ROM, and on Omni ROM, by the way I am on Omni + microG and it runs well!
I was asking about other things, like speed, smoothness, if there are any bugs, etc.
Also what is your average SOT on this ROM?

Do i need base rom?
Works on decrypted device?
Any special twrp recovery?
Because i have downloaded the rom i thought i should ask here before messing up my device haha!

hangouts still not working?

I moved from full google omni to microG lineageOS. So far so good. My reason to change to lineageOS is screen burn-in protection. Otherwise omnirom is the golden standard.

Thanks for your answer.
Screen burn-in protection might be added in OmniROM Nougat.
My priorities are battery, and smoothness. OmniROM is good at that. I may have to try LOS + microG by myself to choose between thoise 2 ROMs.

[Q] Persistent notification apps getting killed

Hi everyone, so during multitasking my C5303 LTE on stock .257 kills everything in sight, including supposedly unkillable apps that are in the notification bar!
Any idea what might be causing it and how to fix it?
- Installed unmodified Sony rom over carrier-modified rom (Orange France) using flashtool.
- Rooted the phone using doomlord (problem appeared before rooting).
- Bootloader remains locked.
- Ram Manager on "Hard Multitasking" and Autokiller Memory Optimizer on "Moderate" do not help.
- My 2012 Nexus 7 has pretty much the same widgets running and number of apps installed without problems.
Thanks in advance!

Its because of the stupid rminfree ram settings.
My opinion, install v6 supercharger script and configure it. The bulletproof those apps so that they won't be killed!
True!
Whenever i download torrent file using any client on my phone and keep the client in the background then after sometime it automatically gets killed but in notofication panel is says that app is running,......
strange

run v6 script.
choose option 16 (the one for bulletproof apps)
it will list the ongoing processes, so type the name of the process, and follow instructions
Thanks a lot sarkar.
I must say I'm disappointed in Sony for coding such crappy settings. It takes A LOT of work to go back to a state of normalcy, I've never had another Android device prevent me from listening to music or blind me by killing lux while I'm simply browsing.

P.S: after restart looks like walkman and viper4android have become bulletproofs indeed!!

I really don't get it.
Just create a SManager widget for the /data/bulletproof_apps.sh and one for the supercharger settings. That way you just click them once on reboot and you are good to go.
Btw, just use chrome for some time and see whether Walkman still gets killed? Just dont open a video or anything that has sound in it.
My 2 year old Nexus has much better RAM and OOM management. Unfortunately, I damaged the device and had to buy the SP.

Well, then it may have been killed because the temple run, which was active needed more memory and the walkman was the one that was killed to give it space.

CM 10.1 had some lag issues on their lockscreen and systemui stutters. But they would still solve some of the major blunders on this device. However, until Sony releases some sort of AOSP project on this I can see nothing being developed for this.
FXP still does not have this device and being a mid-ranger, I see none of the devs taking too much interest here. Its really a very sad situation here.

i think i figured out why walkman got killed while playing the game.. it's not because of the game, mate, looks like it's because of the mail notification that u have quoted me on XDA!! (notifications do not sound while playing walkman somehow, just pauses the music for a second for some reason). but while playing the game, the expected pause is actually killing walkman!!

Presuming no Xposed framework will ever be available for Android N or later...

Presuming no Xposed framework will ever be available for Android N or later, what hardware would you buy today? I will not run an Android version without Xposed (due to the need for XPrivacy). Therefore, I seek opinions on the best available, future-proofed hardware to run Xposed. For example, it seems I should still be able to buy a new OnePlus 3T, nuke the Nougat it presumably ships with, and "upgrade" down to Android 6 w/ Xposed. I doubt that path will be an option with later hardware releases.
What's the best, cutting edge Xposed-compatible hardware—presuming I might still be running it 5 years from now?
None.
Also hardware isnt the issue. Software is.
A one plus will stipl run great after 5 years.
But probably new security issues will arise and there won't be bug fixes to those things from anyone.
Maybe there will be other alternatives to exposed, but personally speaking, my current nexus 6 wipl be my last smartphone.
I will either not use one in the future or simply continue using this phone until it dies.
Appart from being utterly disgusted by the regression of technology (removable batteries gone, headphone jacks gone, lack of support),
I also cant stand the privacy issues.

I disagree, unless you were making a reference to Wirth's law. My Nexus 5 crawls today in comparison to how it ran years ago, and I'm constantly short on RAM when I wasn't in the past. Most of this is the bloat caused by apps. It will help, of course, that the OS wouldn't be upgraded.

I also perform the hardware repair on my N5 myself, so that's a factor. Things like battery replacement come into play after years of use.

That's effectively where I'm at now. The OTAs won't apply, and I don't care enough to go through the gyrations to update the OS with the patches.

Agreed I have Nexus 5, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 4, Moto G5 Plus, Mi5 at home
Nexus 5 feels ancient now though I love the form factor and the occasional times when it runs smooth off late
Im guessing EMMC might be degrading
Then I should buy more Android Phones, at least one for shopping, one for apps at sixes and sevens. I am in China and most of the apps don't want to obey the rules...
Plus: less pleasure for personalizing
Guys !
Please keep on topic and refrain from xposed lifespan assumptions , the OP is asking for a different opinion
thread cleaned and be nice one with the other
thanks for understanding

you pretty much already have my suggestion.... a OnePlus 3T. since you seem to need xposed (imho, just move on) all new phones will obviously be shipping with android 7.xx+, the 3T is the best phone to get. i doubt there will be an update to xposed so eventually you will need to update and its obvious that later android version will have superior memory management to make use of the 3T's memory.
if by chance, xposed does somehow live you will still be left with a great phone that is only further made better by whatever android version is available. a few weeks ago i helped several classmates switch ROM's. they all bought 3T's due to my recommendation. all are very happy. i suggest you get one while they are still available. i hope this helps! cheers!

Well, I *need* XPrivacy and not only is that dependent on Xposed but I subsequently found out that development likely won't support anything later than Marshmallow. So, that's where I'll be indefinitely until someone replicates that.

you can find parts for this phone with an easy google search. i purchased a replacement screen for a friend that accidentally dropped her 3T from a balcony at school.
i truly suggest you move on to N. soon there O will be released and with it so many worthwhile features. if your lucky enough to get the chance to use it i suggest you do and not pass due to the lack of xposed. while i agree that xposed is great, its not worth passing over on updating to a better android release.
btw, now that there has been more info on the 1+5, i suggest you wait. give island a try and then i hope you go for the 1+5. cheers!

A firewall is necessary but insufficient due to in-band privacy leaks. I require XPrivacy to intercept calls and feed apps fake data. There is really no substitute for Xposed for this type of approach; you may remember PDroid and how clunky that was.

Thanks for sharing your perspective, but I'd rather not have a smartphone than to go without XPrivacy or its equivalent. I certainly need XPrivacy a lot more than I need some new UX. I already disable all the "cool" creepy google **** like google now cards and I deny the google app access to my mic & location (well, location services is disabled altogether, but you get the point). My smartphone on MM does what I want it to do, and I really don't need it to do anything more—especially if it comes at the cost of losing the fine-grained control over apps one has via XPrivacy.

Greenify doesn't require Xposed to work, just for the "boost" features. It works just fine on my 6P running 7.1.2, which means I have no Xposed.

Not going to happen until sources drop in august or so, but I would think it would be possible.
We are lucky enough to be getting Oreo.
anyone feel the N6 is sluggish on 8.1? Tried a few roms and some are worse than others.

I unencrypted my Nexus 6 when I first installed Beltz and it is faster and more responsive than it was encrypted on the final 7.1.1 stock ROM.

Same here. The only remark concerns the proximity sensor. The screen isn't turned off; the recent calls stay visible. My ear initiates a second call when a recent call is touched.

I installed the Google Dialer (Phone) app version 17.0.186697879 and the proximity sensor works, the issues I'm having are if I'm in an app and the call shows as a notification I can't answer or decline it, and after I make a call I have to wait a couple of minutes before the dialer will respond so I can make another call. The first issue is pretty frustrating if I'm tracking an incoming ride in the Uber or Lyft apps and the driver happens to call me, I miss the call.

Thx, I am still on version 12.x. because it is the latest blacked out version.
I will try a newer version when the next build of the Beltz rom becomes available.
@NLBeev: I'm inclined to believe the Team Blackout Apps have fallen by the wayside. The last Google-made app that was updated was Google+ (both 32- and 64-bit varieties) on December 11. The last complete package was 33.6, from July 19. Don't get me wrong. I like most of us appreciate the hard work TBO did in theming the apps and used their apps all the time, but with Substratum's ability to theme stock Google apps I believe TBO's work is no longer necessary. I switched and with both Spectrum and Domination themes my Google apps are as black as ever.

The Nougat shamu/arm versions are working with the Oreo-roms.
Better than layers. But..... I agree with you. Next Beltz rom I need to install substratum. Thx for your suggestions.

Today I switched to substratum Swift Black.
Updated the Google stuff (calendar, keep, play store) and the proximity sensor is now working correctly.

If you end up flashing it, let me know how it goes. You want to know a professional. Neobuddy. That man is pure genius and really, really nice if you get to chat him up.
Like I said. The moment official drops, I'm out and will no longer be part of the "scene". Until then I will provide updates when I have time. I work nights, so that should give you a good idea of my time schedule
I have updated the OP with more information.
First of all.. Thank you for your great work.
I have some question.
Warp charge works?
How about battery life?
Face unlock works?
No face unlock yet. Charging is fine. Battery life you'll have to determine for yourself

Thank you. I will try it, when i'am at home.
I forgot that I removed some stuff while I was doing my own private builds. Ill be uploading *at some point* a build with the fixes. You can simply reboot to recovery and flash.
Link updated to new build. Nothing huge, some fixes for stuff that others may use.
Can I dirit flash from this build when official builds release? Will official builds keep no encryption?

Dirty flash probably not. I know the maintainer very well. He will have encryption.
Honestly I am just trying to give everyone a stable, easy to flash build until official drops. I keep source up to date, I have made some of my kernel changes etc.. This is not my great return. I just thought it would be nice to have something stable and more inline (outside of being decrypted) to what Evox will drop. When official drops, I will fade back into the darkness from which I came.
Do you all want encryption? I don't care one way or another.

Let me start this off by saying this would be a placeholder until official Evox hits. OOS camera works. Everything is great. For now it is NOT ENCRYPTED. You can use orange fox to set a pin in recovery and that way it makes it easier to flash. While still having some security. Comes with my kernel, which is being worked on and is a work in progress. So huge thanks to @Blaster4385. This is a courtesy. Arguing or demanding anything and I close the thread down. I ask that moderators watch this thread and if things get out of control immediately and without question, shut it down immediately. If moderators decide that their requirements have been met and shut down the thread, IT WILL NOT BE REOPENED!
Off topic chat will be tolerated for a few posts at most. Anything pertaining to the ROM/kernel is fine
You will need to clean flash. Bottom line.
Gapps are included

I noticed that you switched to OnePlus settings which lack alert slider customization, any plans to add it back?

I'll work on it over time, unless official Evox show up. When I have time and the want
I plan on dropping a build today. Its not a huge change log. I've had pneumonia and have been laid out for over week. I'm just waiting for the antibiotics to work. But I did bump the build fingerprint. Should't take me too long

We all appreciate the hell out of it! Do you know if Now Playing could work? When I first installed the latest build yesterday the app (I can't remember the name of) that tracks all of that kept crashing over and over until I uninstalled it.

Not sure. I have "more" stuff in device settings. I still have some work to do before I drop a build though
I have touchscreen gestures being built as well as the "extras" for slider unfortunately at this moment they aren't working. Ive exhausted all the times I have for tonight. It could be just a clean flash is required, I won't even be able to that route until I wake up tomorrow.
