What's Bluetooth for? - Google Home

Hi everyone,
I was wondering why Google gives the possibility to connect my smartphone or computer with Google home via Bluetooth. I can cast anything directly to Google home, except local content. So is local content the only reason?
I'd rather connect a bluetooth speaker to the Google home to get a better audio quality.

Stream music from Kaiser to HiFI by Wifi

Is it possible to stream music from the Kaiser to a hifi setup by wifi and if so what equipment and software for the phone would I need.
I have done this by bluetooth over the a2dp protocol but quite honestly there is a marked deterioration in quality, so looking for a better solution.
Hmm I have an Airport Express but that uses iTunes to stream the music over Wifi. So that is not gonna work.. unless Apple will make a version of iTunes for Windows Mobile. (in short: never)
Would be quitte nice if it should work though

Follow my articles; I've presented a fully working solution to this a month ago - if your Hi-Fi is UPnP-capable. See my UPnP Bible in the Wiki.
I'm not sure if I understand exactly what you want to do or what capabilities your Hifi has. Is it connected to a network?
All you need is a ExtUSB-headphone adaptor and a patch lead to the Aux input on your hifi.
This will allow you to play content stored on the Kaiser via the Hifi. If your Hifi has a USB port, you could try WM5torage and/or Card Export and use the Kaiser as a Memory stick.
If you want the Kaiser to play media stored on a PC via the Hifi speakers, then I recomend Orb. If your Hifi is UPnP enabled, checkout the posts by Menneisyys and the links to Pocket Player.
Thanks for the replies, I have already used the Kaiser connected via the headphone out to my HiFi and it works great, just thought it would be even better if I could do this wirelessly but seems a bit of a faf, so proabably I'll just stick with the wired connection.

Interesting thing I discovered with Chromecast app and bluetoooth headset

I discovered that when using my bluetooth headsets with my phone the Chromecast icon appears in supported apps and clicking it will toggle audio from my BT headset/headphones to my device and back.
Nothing major but I found it interesting. Normally I'd have to turn of the BT headset or go into BT settings to accomplish this. Comes in handy if you are listening privatly to YouTube or something and want to share with someone.
Haven't tested a call so not sure if calls would still be to the headset or not, or just media audio.
I noticed the same thing last weekend. I also noticed another oddity: Once I connected to the bluetooth headset, it wouldn't allow me to cast back to my Chromecast again. Each time I'd hit the cast icon, it would toggle between the speaker and the headset, but I couldn't seem to make it go to the TV. I seem to recall I had to either turn off bluetooth on my Note 2, or reboot the phone entirely before it would let me cast to the TV again.

Just tried it and at first it one gave me the choice between mt BT device and my Tablet, but less than a minute later it started to show the Chromecast as an option and it worked.
If I'm off the Network my Chromecast is on the button only works to goggle audio between my BT and Device (Phone/Tablet).

Video casting from streaming (Using differents players)

Hi.
I have a very strange setup in head and I need confirmation before doing anything.
First of all, I wanted to know if I can cast videos using VLC or MXplayer (Or other ?) ? But not local videos, streaming videos (Using wifi).
After that, Can I use a Bluetooth Headset connected to my device without having trouble with audio coming from the cast ?
And finally, Is there better alternative to G Chromecast for what I want to do ?
Thanks for reading.
You want to stream from a local drive on your wifi system and cast to your pre-wifi/ethernet tv via Chromecast? Since I have my tv connected to my router, I don't normally cast local. However, Plex will allow you to create a library of your videos and the app allows casting. Fire stick also uses Plex. I'm sure there are other set-ups, but my local streaming is direct. In fact, I usually use Playstation media server (without the Playstation) via DLNA TV input. As for bluetooth, once you cast, audio is transferred to the viewing device. I have my audio running through an ancient 2-channel Onkyo receiver. I have a bluetooth transmitter in the headphone jack. I use Sony bt phones quite successfully.
Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
Thanks for the audio on bluetooth help.
My files aren't on a local drive. Actually I'm playing streaming video from Video hosting service (Like Youtube, VideoMega, etc...) using HTML link in VLC or MXplayer.

Google Home IP Control?

Can Google Home control devices such as TVs and AV receivers via IP protocol?
For example I have a TV and ChromeCast Audio connected to my AV receiver. To have GH control TV play or ChromeCast music I need to control the receiver and the TV for power on/off, source selection and volume - both are connected to my network by Ethernet and have IP control protocols.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
- logitech harmony hub or
-chromcast video plugged in TV and power it from the wall to have hdmi CEC working and setup tv to turn on AV receiver.

I developed in my house a complex system. A raspberryPI behind the television that has infrared recording and infrared transmission system. The infrared transmitter is exactly in front of my television. I recorder all command of my remote. After, with Google Home and IFTTT, I change channel on tv by my voice (also power on/off, volume, mute ecc). I also developed a webApp for my smartphone for do all that things also by smartphone.
It's complex, but if you are a programmer or IoT maker (python, php, c++, raspberry ecc) you can do it. If you are interested I will post more detailts.
IFTTT allows for you to add the two following services:
Google Assistant
WebHooks
You can talk to Google Assistant to trigger a WebHook, which will allow for get, post, etc commands on the web.
I think this is only internet facing though, so it may not be able to resolve the devices on your local network.

Device that does the same thing as the Chromecast Audio

So at home I have a crazy awesome google home set up with multiple speaker systems, lighting, smart outlets, google minis, and google home speakers all tied into the awesome google home app. For (3) different speaker systems, I used the old chromecast audio to tie the receivers into my google home system and it worked great! Now that is discontinued for whatever reason, and I can't seem to find an equal to it (the chromecast audio that is). I want to tie in another speaker system with an old receiver I have. Does anyone know an alternative to the chromecast audio that will do the same thing that the chromecast audio did? Also, I read about tieing speakers with bluetooth capabilities into the google home system, but couldn't figure out how. Anyone done this yet?
Thanks!
I have a few Chromecast audio devices, and got a Google Home Mini and realise it is very similar. It offers an audio out port that I could plug in to my speaker, and I can stream to it as a Cast Audio device.
