Is it possible? Thinking about Getting a Note 3, But I don`t like the changes AT&T makes. For an example The data icons AT&T puts in there and all the AT&T to go junk. Anyone Flash T-Mobile or other firmwares on there AT&T Note 3? Back when I had my AT&T Note 1 I flashed the N7005 International Rom on it, same went with my Note 2.

The SM-N900A or at&t note 3 has a locked bootloader. This prevents us from installing a custom recovery and flashing other firmware. So unfortunately at this time you won't be able to flash anything. If you were to obtain one anyway and it came preloaded with Kit Kat, you won't even be able to obtain root access. If you are lucky enough to obtain one with android 4.3 you can obtain root. There's even a work around for 4.3 called safestrap. Safestrap allows us to install tweeked roms. But there's not that many of them compared to the previous note versions you use to have.
Many at&t note 3 owners have sold or traded for the T-Mobile variant. The T-Mobile note 3 bootloader is unlocked.
I hope that gives you some insight.

Thank you! Must be the reason why the T-Mobile one will cost me about $35 more used. If I got the T-Mobile Version I might not even root. I just hate what AT&T Does with the Software.
Is there even root on theAT&T Note 3? on 4.4.2? I dont care about tripping Knox as long as it doesnt harm anything

No. There is no root for 4.4.2 as of yet. Avoid the ATT version if at all possible.
BTW thanks for hosting those LG firmwares. It has been very helpful in returning my phones to oem state.

Theres a local Note 3 well somewhat local Note 3 but its AT&T
Been looking at a T-mobile Note 3 for a few days on Swappa for $435
What's the price difference between the 2? I would try the Att if you can get it for under 370. If over that I would do the T-Mobile version. The unlock bootloader is worth it. Just make sure it is paid off (T-Mobile version) before you buy it.
So I just got my note 3 n900A att model about 2 months ago. last month the lollipop update pushed to my phone and I was happy but then I started working on rooting. I successfully downgraded my phone to 4.4.4 then to 4.4.2 by following guids on here and on another webiste that instructed me to use odin and then I rooted. Right now I am on Biggons rom and it is beautiful. I have been using safestrap to flash custom roms for this n900A.
I am however interested in trying to obtain a custom kernal and the bootloader being locked is frustrating. To my peasant understanding there isnt a option as of yet to get around the bootloader. please correct me here if I am wrong.
Are any developers working on this? Is it even possible to work on this? Am I just completed F'ed unless I went out and got a different variant of this phone with an unlocked bootloader?
lastly! Im curious if it is possible to turn my phone into a developer edition? that might be just a repeat version of my previous question. excuse my ignorance. I am new to this phone and boot locks n the what not.

Was bootloader unlock ever achieved?
I have the AT&T Note 3 N900A device running on lollipop (OTA). This device has never been rooted. I'm looking to root this but all the tutorials are for devices running 4.x.x and none for lollipop. Has the N900A on lollipop not been rooted yet?

Perfect, thank you. I realize now I will have to downgrade to be able to root.
Is there a way to unlock the SIM on the rooted lollipop. My primary reason for rooting was so I could unlock the device to use internationally. I'm now reading that the regionlock away and other unlock mechanisms will not work for the newer firmwares.

Just call At&t and tell them that you are traveling abroad and will be using your phone with a different SIM, and they'll unlock it for you..

2. the phone says that android 4.4.2 is the up to date firmware.
this is the sm-n900a version at&t
anything i can do? my norwegian note 3 has android 5.0 on it and all.
can i port this phone to note 5? that would be awsome
please help me
The n900a has a locked bootloader so you can only load touchwiz-based ROMs using safestrap.

i see now that im a complete noob in this field. what should i do? i have rooted my device btw
is it possible to remove the locked bootloader?
Hello everyone. I am not new to rooting and flashing custom roms but i have never had more trouble than with these samsung phones. I have a Note 4 from TMobile( model in title of thread). I need help rooting, unlocking the bootloader, and flashing custom roms. Based on what i see this basically voids the warranty which im ok with. I just worry about bricking my phone with the wrong tools because i see 2 variants of the note 4 for Tmobile. So does anyone have any info on the root/ bootloader unlocking process for the SM-N910T3 variant?
I downloaded kingo root from the playstore, 1 click, it did it. if it dont work the first time, reboot and try it again.
