Hello everyone. My p9 plus` screen looks really yellow (in a dark room, with low brightness). I know that amoled screens are bad when it comes to whites, but what bugs me is that the status and nav bar are completely white, everything between those two is yellowish. Is this common for this phone? (thanks for your answers)
Seems like you have "eye protection" feature active. Check it.
unfortunately, no. it's not activated.
same here. i think your amoled have burn-in
thanks man..I know its burn in, but I was just wondering how common it is.. so far its only the two of us

Hi I have a small problem with my galaxy and I wonder if it is a common thing or is it a sporadic case. I recently took my galaxy in assistance for the replacement of the screen (between lcd and capacitive glass had a hair) Once again after a while 'I realized (I think that there is a problem from the beginning) that appeared on the display strange signs. Initially I thought it was a lcd problem then I tried to shift the LCD image and saw that signs remained fixed as if they were between display and glass. I brought the phone back in service but they said there were no defects. For sureness (they were very nice) they showed me another galaxy just out of the box and presented the same peculiarities. It seems to me (but I'm not sure) that the first galaxy that I had not had this feature.
If you want to help me try to manually set the display brightness to low and pull down the curtain of the notification bar, or choose a dark gray background and gimme an answer.
thank you
i attach a photo
anyone?
I saw that many people have downloaded the image.
thank you
Can you explain what is so peculiar about it ? I dont see anything wrong with that image . Is it the three orange color curved lines ?? (though that looks to me like a reflection of something).
Are you talking about the red haloing effect around the white text?
Apart from the orange claw 'reflection' in the top right there is nothing discernible about that image.
orange signs are camera lens reflection. I talk about grey zones of images. If you watch closely you notice that some grey pixel zones are different from other. With a kind of green blur.
thank you for your answers
Is this what you are concerning about?

My Captivate's screen has suddenly gotten much darker than usual. Even at low brightness, the image quality used to be really good and the screen was really sharp. Now, for some reason, it seems to have gotten noticeably darker and duller. Aside from that, the whites seem to be tinted blue. I know this is an existing issue with the Super-AMOLED's so I'm not too worried -- I'm thinking it was probably always tinted and I'm only noticing it now that I'm really looking. The last thing I noticed about the display is a set of odd marks behind the screen; oval-shaped markings slightly to the right of center running from top to bottom and left to right. Anyone know what these are?
Assuming you haven't flashed a kernel with the brightness fix, color fix, etc. you can get the phone exchanged through warranty for display problems. One of ours developed an issue with the tint and clarity and we had it replaced no problem.
Folks,
Got a question for you -- as per the title. To give you a little background, I bought an S2 8.0, loved it, and then decided that I really ought to replace my existing "data plan" tablet from the S 8.4 to the S2 9.7. So, good-bye to the S2 8.0, and I've got a new S2 9.7 LTE.
All is well, EXCEPT for some screen oddness. I'll have to post some pictures, but I think I can describe it well enough. To begin with, I don't really like "busy" wallpaper -- I just use a solid-color, medium-to-dark blue wallpaper as my background. What I really notice, both in portrait and landscape orientation, is a darker band at the top of the screen -- again, it happens in both portrait and landscape orientation. It seems to be a "viewing angle" thing, as the dark "top" in landscape orientation doesn't turn into a dark "side" in portrait orientation. Instead, when I move to portrait orientation, then the top of the screen has this dark band, and the sides are just fine.
But I don't notice quite the same thing happening when I get into some apps -- for instance, the yellow/orange top band in the "Memo" application doesn't turn noticeably darker. But the green top band in the "Evernote" application shows it IN SPADES, though it's a really thin band at the very edge of the screen. And, again, it's always at the top, no matter which orientation I'm in, that I see the dark band.
Anyway, that's the most obvious stuff. However, when you back up and take the whole screen in view, what I'm really seeing is A LOT OF COLOR CHANGE as I angle the tablet towards me (more vertical) and away from me (more horizontal). Again, just go into the Memo application, and lay your tablet flat on a table, then grab it and tilt it up towards you -- do you get a big change in color, or does it stay the same? I guess I would say that the "white" color "turns bluish" as I raise the tablet towards me (making it more vertical), and it goes more to a normal white when I lay it flat.
I can understand changes in screen quality due to viewing angles, but that's not something that I associate with OLED screens. I sure didn't see anything like this at all with the S2 8.0 that I had. And I've started looking at S2 9.7 tablets in stores, and I really haven't seen anything like it in the stores. Thus, I'm definitely thinking about returning the thing -- unless it's really a case of "they all do it."
So, if you guys could check out your tablets and let me know if you see anything like this, I would appreciate it. It's not worth taking the thing back and asking for an exchange if what I'm seeing is common, but I'm definitely a bit disappointed in the screen quality that I've got with this tablet.
Thanks in advance for checking this out for me, and for any thoughts you'd like to send my way!

I have yet to see an S2 that can display a uniform white screen. I can always see a light pink/purple tint on a white background. If all you're doing is consuming media you will never notice, but if you're reading anything with a white background it gets too distracting. I don't see any issues with uniform brightness though, it looks perfect from that standpoint.

Understood -- thanks. I installed a couple of screen testing apps, and they show no issues. For instance, I pulled up a full-screen blue that was very similar to the blue I'm using for my background, and it was nicely solid blue. Then I pulled up a full-screen green that was similar to the top of Evernote, and it was nicely solid blue. Then I pulled up a full-screen white, and you could see what you and I have both mentioned -- it does change colors a bit as you move the screen around.
So, it's just very strange what my S2 is doing -- it's like it must have something to do with other on-screen elements. I'll definitely take it back and exchange it for another one, but I'm just trying to get a grip on whether this is happening on any other S2 tablets. And it definitely appears that it isn't.
Thanks for your reply!

I've been checking my T815 a little while ago after noticing similar behaviour. The way I see it, the tab S2 screen is very sensitive to the viewing angle. Not so much in blue and red, but very much so in green. In fact, to get a proper green, I have to look dead on. I even notice a change in the green colour: dead on it's yellowish green, while even at a slight angle it is an uglier green. The first is clearly what the device is calibrated for, because that's when things like skin tones look perfect.
I used the *#0*# menu to test.
I compared this to my other devices. On the note4 I didn't notice this. But that may be because of the smaller screen. On my previous tab, tab77, the effect was also completely absent. But that one has a completely different oled layout.
I've already eliminated display modes and auto brightness as influences. I still have to look into the effects of ambient light, since the displays of my devices do reflect differently when turned off. In fact, under some angles the tab S2 reflects a bright white lamp as pure green. While the tab77 always reflects the same lamp as white.
I know that the tab S2 has an rgb matrix that has two Gs for every R and B. That's probably related to the effect I'm seeing.
I just got this phone and I am really disappointed with the colors on the screen. Everything looks washed out and dull. I have tried the color calibration and it still doesn't help. My screen looks nothing like the screenshots here, nor any of reviews I have seen. Any help or suggestions? I'm not looking for oversaturated colors or for the screen to be on par with higher end phones. I just want it to be better.
Orange colors appear more of a burnt sienna color and fair skin people almost have a bad spray tan look.
Colors are totally fine on my device. Yours may be defective.
Try increase contrast. Worked for me
I reset the device and the display is a lot better.

I also have the same issue with my screen, calibration is inconsitent and fluctuate between some orange tint, if I adapt it it slowly drift to get orange again. When I set all RGB values to 100 % it's more like a greenish tint that still drifts to orange.
I don't understand what's going on with my screen...
HEy guys...I`ve found it
Go to accessibility and search for color correction something like that and turn it off
Hi,
Got a new Moto Edge 20 Pro a couple of weeks back.
The display at low brightness has very noticable Faint White Lines and the display looks grainy, like newspaper texture almost like the Kindle Display.
At darkness, when the display refresh rate is set to auto, I can see the grainy noise and the white lines change when I touch the display.
Grey and White colors arent Pure Grey and White. When I use pwmfree 1.3 or OLED SAVER app, the white lines are almost gone (not entirely gone) and the grainy texture / noise increases.
Any idea whats going on, whether it is a software or a hardware issue ?
is there a way to get this fixed ?

The noise on the display is the nature of OLED displays. Or at least the one on this phone. I have a regular Edge 20, but they have the same display anyway. Same issue you pointed out: grain with certain colors and at lower brightness. And yes, I do get some vertical lines at the bottom of the screen. It's not defect, it's just the way it is.

I had an iPhone12 before this and that too had an OLED Panel, and I wasnt able to see anything like this.
And the Noise is not consistent. It's pretty freaking uneven and Its a total mess. To see the Noise completely, just open a 2% grey image or something and observe it. It's pretty abysmal. No way OLED displays are this bad.
I just think that Moto has crapped on its customers with a defective batch of Displays.
Also the situation gets better when you use pwmfree app.
The panel's gray uniformity is pretty bad. Im suspecting if this is a case of banding/dirty screen effect on oled screens, which is a defect and not a norm for an OLED Displays.

Ah, well, I haven't owned any expensive phones so I can't really compare to anything other than the Moto Z2 Play, which also had a grainy OLED panel. If I were you I'd be annoyed as well, but I payed a fraction of MSRP for my phone so I can't complain.

I have noticed a weird behavior with the display. forcing it to 60Hz by enabling power saving mode significantly reduces the grain and make the panel a lot more uniform.
