how to edit system/csc/features.xml or others.xml systemlessly ? - Magisk

any way to edit the features.xml file in system/csc/ foldser on a samsung g925i (india) nougat 7.0.0 , to enable a few features systemless ly ofcouurse using magisk to pass safetynet test
tried root explorer but failed ( need to edit a copy of it in some way to allow magisk to use it )
any help or knowledge on how magisk works with system/csc would be helpful

Make a Magisk module with the edited xml (copy the original to /system/csc in the module and edit it there). When you're done, make a zip and install through the Manager or in recovery.
Module creation details and instructions can be found in the module template and in the Magisk documentation.

That could be caused by a number of things.
First ones that come to mind are that you might have done something you the xml that shouldn't be there or that you might not have set the proper permissions for the file.
It might be something completely different, of course...

permissions were set to 777
if i flash the g925f rom on g925i
i get the features such as stock call recording
if i revert to original firmware then no features at all and all bloated up
idk how the volte enabler module works for samsung devices which is in the repo
playstore has an app called csc feature enabler by wanaam.. but that wont pass safetynet as its not systemless
i made the plugin as stated..
its flashing alright
but not booting

Others.xml and the like need permissions 0644 just as anything there. Wrong permissions caused your brick..
Leave them original

Patching core.jar & service.jar in Kit Kat

Manual how to apply patches android, for those who do not get it in the standard way. News for firmware based CM11, KitKat, 4.4.4 and others...
We will need 1 ) Root Explorer or another file manager. 2 ) Lucky Patcher.
And so, we go through the Root Explorer to system/framework and look there for a couple of files with names core.jar and services.jar, found means to copy to SD card for further action with them.
Go to Lucky Patcher and select the function to "Rebuild and install". We are looking for in the open filemanager copied our files, click on each of them and choose the function "Patch file firmware", patched both files close Lucky Patcher.
Open Root Explorer find our patched copy and rename them from the core-patched.jar in the core.jar, and so did a services-patched.jar in services.jar.
Put them in the firmware in two ways.
The first :
Through the Root Explorer to replace the first system/framework file core.jar and put it right (rw-r - r--).
Reboot and look at the first two Lucky Patcher android patch applied. Good!!!
Replace the same in system/framework file services.jar and the phone itself will go into a reboot may reboot itself again, nothing wrong with that.
Go through the Root Explorer on the road system/framework to the file services.jar and give him the right to (rw-r - r--).
Watch in Lucky Patcher all three patch applied android.
The second method:
For him, we need the establishment of recovery TWRP or CWM and Aroma Filemanager. Earnest request before to do something, then test Aroma FM on your device !!!
We go in and start recovery Aroma Filemanager. After that, everything just as in Root Explorer, substitute core.jar on patched us exhibiting rights (rw-r - r--) and reboot.
Again in recovery and launch Aroma Filemanager. And substitution of services.jar but rights can and should be put immediately (rw-r - r--).
Reboot and you're done.
One piece of advice if something goes wrong as we would like it keep copies non patching core.jar and services.jar.
You can always get them back into place and put right through Aroma Filemanager.
Addition to those who have odex firmware :
In odex firmware need to copy the core.odex and sevices.odex on sdcard.
Go to Lucky Patcher, and on the bottom panel to select "Install and rebuild".
Then, select a file core.odex and select to patch the firmware file, then select services.odex and also choose to patch the firmware file, then rename and put them back into the system/framework.

No need to patch this files, because you can install paid apps from google without this, playstore dont chech it for verificatio, better leave this files alone, I dont know how to say. Xd
You dont need to patch anything.
And if you dont know Lucky patcher is illegal on xda.

But, that dont need to do.

Create own Custom Magisk Module

Hi devs,
Now I want to create a magisk module which replaces the functionalities of a system app. Consider for example, I'm running a custom ROM which I built and I have the complete source of the ROM. After the ROM is built and flashed, I want to change the functionality of an app using Magisk. Now after making the changes which I need, I build that and get the new APK file along with its odex and vdex files.
Now without replacing the files in the system partition, can I use magisk to use the updated apk instead of the old apk. If that is possible, can anyone give me some quick steps how to do it.
@Rajeev @sooti - I think you can help me coz you've been making some magisk modules for Mi A1.
Or anyone else who knows this, kindly help me.

Meybe some one write that same. I create mod but only mount APK file in system/app because I don't have there this file. Try flash, check it work and then you can share with all

You should refer to the official documentation of Magisk to understand the structure of a Magisk module, once you understood it well, you can make highly customizable Magisk mods without needing to use topjohnwu's template.
For the case you asked about, you can simply create a flashable shell zip, which will create a structure something similar to this,
Code:
MOUNTPOINT=/sbin/.core/img
MODID=your_mod_id_here
--> MOUNTPOINT
--> MODID
--> auto_mount
--> module.prop
--> system
--> {priv-,}app
--> app_name.apk
--> app_name.{o,v,}dex
--> etc/permissions/package_name-permissions.xml
--> service.sh
--> post-fs-data.sh
Using topjohnwu's template will be much simpler, boot scripts are optional, the perms XML is also needed only if (priv-app && API >= 26)
EDIT: Almost forgot it, thanks for providing our Le Max 2 an Oreo ROM!

Samsung SM-N960F/DS (BOOTANIMATION.zip missing but I still get Tmobile animation)

I have a rooted Samsung SM-N960F/DS. Flashed Detonator to get Tmobile features.
Now i have the annoying Tmobile boot animation.
I cant find the bootanimation.zip file though. The only files in the system/media are boot ogg files, which i can NOT delete/rename.
What should i do if i want NO boot animation?
My phone is rooted using MAGISK.
But i just noticed I can NOT change anything in the file explorer. Do i need to install SuperSU?
It doesn't even ask me permission to GRANT root permission to the file explorer (RomToolbox).
What is wrong? Please help.
Ok, I found a solution.
SuperSu was disabled in Magisk because I had installed Xposed. So, I installed the "No Device Check" module in Xposed. This activated SuperSu again in Magisk.
Next, i reinstalled RomToolbox.
Detonator had installed Tmobile boot/shutdown media files in a different folder. I found the boot/shutdown files in /system/omc/TMB/res/media. I renamed the the media folder to "media1" (I suppose I could have also deleted the files, but whatever). This reverted the boot/shutdown animation back to the stock/default files!!!
Hope this helps someone out there.
i didnt think there was exposed by original dev for mote 9,??do you have oreo or pie rom?

(to clarify the line was in the build,prop by stock set to 0)

[REQUEST] Module to replace a file in vendor/etc

I have an LG V60 phone and I would like to put the phone in "high impedance mode" all the the time for more power to the earphones even if they are less than 50 ohm impedance.
In LG V40/50, it was very simple by rooting the phone and making some modifications in the one of the files that was in the "vendor/etc" directory. The problem with LG V60 is it does not allow any write access to the vendor folder at all.
So the only feasible option that I can think of is to create a Magisk module that replaces the original file with the modified one. My biggest disadvantage is not knowing anything about writing codes including Magisk module ones. So I was wondering if anyone could create a Magisk module that would replace the original file through Magisk?
ADDTIONAL INOFRMATION:
I am running Magisk 25 on a fully rooted LG V60.
The file that needs to be changed is mixer_paths.xml and it resides in the "vendor/etc" folder. I have created the modified file.
So if someone is able to develop a module to accomplish this, I will place the modified file in the "system/vendor/etc" folder of the Magisk module, as I understand it.
Many thanks for your support!
You can use this template system in future as its super easy
The template itself is here
GitHub - Zackptg5/MMT-Extended: Magisk Module Template Extended
Magisk Module Template Extended. Contribute to Zackptg5/MMT-Extended development by creating an account on GitHub.
github.com
click the Code button, then download zip
then extract the zip into a folder and rename the folder "MMT-Extended-master" to the something more meaningful, like the name of your module
Read the wiki and docs here to go step by step to create your first module:
Home
Magisk Module Template Extended. Contribute to Zackptg5/MMT-Extended development by creating an account on GitHub.
github.com
Notably the heading:
How do I make a MMT Extended mod?
The steps for a simple file addition/replacement module, which are simple, should be steps 1-4, then 8. Then zip up the modules (as a zip) and test.
For you, if you read along (in Step 3) you will need to create a folder vendor, under the existing system one, and then a further etc folder under vendor, and put the necessary file (mixer_paths.xml in there.
If you try and fail, post back and someone will assist. But we prefer people to at least read the documentation and try first, ideally...this is the way the great didgeridoohan mentored myself and many others, he was not big on spoonfeeding
Imagine the satisfaction you might get finding out youre capable of such feats...i promise its not rocket surgery
Feel free to PM even, if you get stuck and think you have a silly question - of course knowing me, and i do, you'll probably get an even sillier, and off topic answer as well...
hint: you can knock out this basic module in far far less time than it took me to write all this
Thank you!
So my changes look like this:
1. Put the modified file in the system/vendor/etc folder of the Magisk module.
2. Made the needed changes to the customize.sh as attached.

So I made the module with the suggested changes in customize.sh and put the modified mixer_path.xml file in the system/vendor/etc folder of the module. Module installs fine with Magisk but when it reboots, the device hangs on the initial LG screen and does not go anywhere from there.

mixer_paths files have been replaced for years, long before magisk even...i did it back as far as the Galaxy S2 from memory, so im not sure why this didnt work for you, was the mxer_paths file specifically for your device? i have no clear idea why it hasnt worked for you

Actually I had no problem in editing the mixer_tavil.xml file in LG V40/50. But when it comes to LG V60, the file is read-only. There is no way to edit it due to dynamic partition. Hence, I was seeking the only option available i.e., via Magisk module.

So, I encountered the same problem and found what you did wrong. I was able to write my own Magisk module and it works wonderfully. It took so much time to understand how to do it because there is no proper tutorial.
If you are still active and trying to know how to do it the right way, here comes the explanation:
The Replace = " /system/vendor/etc/ " must not be written as it completely wipes the actual folder from your phone. This is why you were not able to turn the phone on. It should be like this:
Replace = " " (That part must be blank)
The rest of the code is good. If you try it like this now, you will see it will work, just like mine did.
Cheers
Does not work. May I see your module? Please upload it here as attachment.
I even put my edited file under /data/adb/modules/<my directory>/system/vendor/etc. It shows up in Magisk as a module and the file loads (as it is not visible in file explorer) but there is no change in volume. So the thing is not working.
