The screen on my Samsung tab s2 is almost completely black (99%) with about 1% along the sides of some random pixelated color. The screen is not cracked or damaged at all. Even during he boot up process I cannot see anything but like 10 colored pixels randomly.
Has anyone encountered this issue?
Does anyone have a fix for this issue or at least a way to back it up? I have no way to see what's on the screen so cannot turn on usb debugging.
Thanks for the help!
Here is a picture, as you can see there is no damage or cracks on the screen. It's in very good condition.

Yes, I cannot even access or see the boot animation as the screen is completely messed up.
I'll attach a image to the main post.

That looks serious, never seen that before. Looks like hardware failure.

Think I should just try to contact Samsung than? It's very likely out of warranty.
Also anyway for me to backup and save the files on there? It still seems to work just the screen is mangled.
If you have the 2015 version with the Exynos SoC, you could use MHL to export the display to a monitor. Otherwise, where you go from here depends on whether you have ADB debugging enabled, root, etc.
As an aside, it appears the display is toast. It could be a cable, but it looks a lot like the controller is done.
Sorry to necro, but my daughter's S2 just did the same thing. Did you find a resolution?
I managed to do a factory reset semi-blindly but it's still doing it. Touch inputs seems to work fine, just the screen is just showing a sporadic amount of pixels about 20% of area, mostly on left side of screen. It kind of looks like someone spray painted over the screen and some areas still show through. It's almost the exact same areas shown in the OP's picture too.

If my phones battery runs out while i'm in a call, when i charge it again the phone seems to think its in a call and doesn't boot into the today screen.

the only way i can seem to get it to boot is a hard reset, and then I lose everything in my phone.
Any suggestions as to how I can get it to boot properly without a hards reset would be appreciated.

That sucks, a Battery Pull or Soft Reset doesn't work?
Nope, just tried both.
It's an XDA Stellar. I just hope it's fixed in 6.1 when the release it (hopefully) next month.

So, you are using the default ROM? After a hard-reset, use your phone with no 3rd party software and see if your phone does the same thing.
Yep Default ROM. I'll try it and see if it happens again, with no software installed

You might want to check in the Hermes thread because the phone in the picture is a Hermes not a Kaiser.

He mentioned in his original post that it is not his phone but that's the screen his phone gets stuck on.
My D4 bit the dust tonight after having it for a year and a half. I think moisture from leaving it in the bathroom during my showers killed it. The phone gets power, but when I turn it on I get white/black static. It won't even show the Motorola boot animation. I am wondering if there is a way to get my pictures off the internal memory card? When I plug my phone up to the computer I get the little sound that my phone is connected, but it doesn't show up. I have tried a reset and booting into safe mode, but the screen just shows black/white static.

Hi, it sounds like you got the same problem as described in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552978
I wonder if more people will pop up having this problem suddenly. Can you check if you can connect to your Phone through adb when on the static screen? That still seems to work here.
It might make sense to move this discussion to that other thread to have one location for the people having the same problem.

I got this phone the other day, It's just got snow all over the screen (it's out of warranty) so I opened the cover, pulled off all connectors and re-seated them (didn't remove any boards, just what was accessible once the back covers were off.
I am new to Android but, this model I have replaced 2 Displays on (not this phone), seems I get one for cheap with a broken display, I fix it and someone offers me more than triple what I paid for, so I keep selling them :-/ (a man cant turn down a big profit). So I know how to pull this phone apart and replace parts if needed. I was looking to give Android a solid shot here (I am a Windows Phone person now)and not sell this one...
Not sure if the display is toast or this is just a Bricked or something else.
Note:
-If I connect to a PC, it connects fine
-When the phone is on, If I touch the lower of the screen, I hear clicking
-Double click on the center of the screen wakes up the display.
-Verzion software tool does not detect the phone (even though a drive is mapped for it)
Also to know, I have never rooted a Android device, so no idea on how to tell if it's rooted or not from the file system. Yea, when it comes to Android devices, I am a NooB.
Any idea ?
Thanks in advance !
Ok, Still trying to trouble shoot this, figuring it was a Brick or something with a lot of effort (The touch screen seems to work but, power off was a guessing game where to push to get it into bootloader mode).
I tried to go back to Stock with it, following these directions...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960
Now during the process, every once an a while, on the top of the screen, I can see about 1/2 of the ICONs, it's static so it does not update but, it's the most I have seen off this display.
After showing Successful, it's still doing the same thing. accept a hair of it, static across the top of the screen.
So, does this lead down to a hardware based issue (if so, what part should be replaced), or is this display damaged and needs a replacement ?
Has anyone gone through this and can help ?
Edit, Picked up the one of the cables for the phone that the video, power, headphones all plug into, as all my problems are resulting in something that plugs into this cable, figured I would give it a shot, The only things that are left are the Main board, or the display itself.
Maybe this will fix it ?

Does anyone have any input that might help me here ? Will this part fix it, or is this phone screwed completely ?
Hi, the screen on my Google Pixel 4XL just went bonkers with all this flickering purple lines. Sometimes, a portion of the screen would still display normally. The phone has just reached 2 years of usage and I have never dropped it before.
The touch screen is still working normally as I have tried using the phone while mirroring to my PC. The 90 Hz refresh rate has also been turned off.
May I know what is causing the problem and if repairing it means the replacement of the entire LCD screen (it will cost me about 250 USD in my country)? I am trying to decide if it is worth repairing the phone or to just go for a Pixel 6 or 6a.

Hey!
So that doesn't seem to be a software issue but you could try to factory reset the phone. If it doesn't fix try to open the phone, disconnect and reconnect the display cable. If nothing worked the screen is damaged. Here's a link to the ifixit guide. Things that cann cause screen to break are extreme temperatures(if you left the phone under sun for long periods of time or where you live snows and you left the phone outside), water damage, or even hard strokes.
On Europe you can find replacement screens for 70 euros more or less so it's up to you if you want to upgrade or not. I personally really like the P4 and I personally would fix it BUT it's your decision.
Hope this helps you!
Hey guys,
I am back to the real OG forums of Android after spending a few good years with iOS devices. Ngl, missed this place a lot!
So I have been using a Pixel 4a (5G) for 2-3 weeks now, and everything was perfect until the May security update 2 days ago. Although, previously, there were a couple of touch screen issues observed by many anyway, a friend too who uses the same phone, same variant g025-e and we used to observe extremely **** typing experience while charging our phones, until this update, literally destroyed the whole experience for me specifically, and not my friend.
This update was about 16.9 mb and on the night of 1st of May, I put my phone to update and slept, within hours it was released. The next morning my frustration begins. There is a part of my screen, specifically between the app dock and home screen separator that doesn't work anymore. There is absolutely no damage to the phone, neither have I dropped it or anything. The whole "asd" row on my qwerty keyboard barely works. Tapping the letters on that row a million times might register a touch magically, but you get my point, its just extremely frustrating.
Furious, I immediately took it to Pixel Community (Pixel Community Post here) and I haven't received a reply there yet. I took it to Reddit (Reddit post here), and there isn't any help either.
I have run a couple of tests on my phone testing my screen, and to my surprise multi-touch isn't working either (I can't zoom into photos, can't use maps or anything for that matter) and my phone only detects one finger. Attaching screenshots below where you can see touch break (there is no point of posting multi-touch test here, it can only show its detecting 1 finger, and that also breaks in the area shown below):

}
As last resort, I have also tried removing my screen protector, playing with the screen-protector mode in the display settings but in vain.
Now I am thinking something definitely went wrong while my phone installed the update, and thinking of a full fresh flash of the Software after unlocking the bootloader. Please suggest what to do. Hoping for positive replies. I am not doubting the hardware because my phone just stopped working right after the update, even though the new update suited my friend's phone just fine.

Oh damn I'm sorry its that much for you mate. Did it happen after the update or just randomly?
the day I updated the phone, the touch screen started to not answer again on the top and then the problem is repeated gradually on the rest of the screen. I just made a factory rest, the touch screen no longer works, I will change the screen .
