Google Modded Camera; It works, but it doesn't. - Xiaomi Redmi 4X Questions & Answers

I have 2 Xiaomi Redmi 4x's at home with the same Xiaomi.eu rom, same recovery, same kernel, same version.
I flashed the same ZIP to enable Camera2API through Magisk. And then I installed the same GCam on both devices.
I even installed a few Camera2Api check apps from the playstore and both report the same results.
Result:
It works on one of the devices but it keeps crashing on the other.
I've tried reinstalling, reflashing Camera2API zip, but all without result.
Any idea's.? (I'll post a screenshot of the crash log later on)
Rom: Latest Xiaomi.eu rom.
Magisk: 14.5 Beta
Recovery: Latest official TWRP
Kernel: Stock

But ... it's the same phone, same specs, same model, same rom, same everything. Why does it works for one and not the other?

Use this, 101% working guide. Thank me later

Oops sorry my mistake, I only flashed magisk not xposed.
i need xposed too
Are they the news? I have a global rom but I could not install xposed for magisk
Its not working yet on miui. Now the kernel is out maybe it will be made. I have xposed working on my mi 8 because I have installed a Treble rom. If you are willing to install a treble rom it works fine but the only problem is the treble roms themselves are filled with bugs. It just depends how much you want xposed. The problems I have with treble is bluetooth doesnt work in calls, Screen brightness control is broken and some apps the notch is covering somethings. I would probably wait for a official xiaomi custom rom then install xposed. Hopefully we will see one soon
any update on xposed + Mi8?

How is GSI support for Xiaomi Mi 9 (cepheus)

We already know this phone is arm64,
the GSI rom AOSP v112 has support for this phone.
But how is the rom behave? What works and doesn't?
How are other GSI flavours doing? Like RR, AEX, HAVOC,....
[NOTE: For those who are interested i'll change this post to some GSI guide cepheus,
as soon as i recieve my Mi 9. But until then i'll hope for some of your feedback]
See this: https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Xiaomi-Mi-9
and these two: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79284072&postcount=46, https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79295919&postcount=53
It shoudn't be needed to write a guide
a video guide would be interesting
I usually used twrp to flash the Gsi file but now I didn't understand what steps should be taken
tried Foloko, RR trebles and it's entertaining as STDs.. couldn't add Gapps for hours and never managed to using 2 very different TWRPs we've got, tons of tricks, or adding stock system/vendor.
I don't understand the assumption "Please don't use third-party custom rom (e.g. Xiaomi.eu roms) as the base rom. Some hacky roms have wrong (unofficial) fingerprint and GSI can't detect what device you are using. ", ok, what should be in the phone then?
After some attempts Phh treble from post 60 installed, greeting me with "There's an internal problem with your device. Contact your manufacturer for details.", some vendor nonsense. After reboot i cannot log in, as fingerprint overrides the letter i need to type the password. omg. So i have to reflash.
update: since Phh was ultra vanilla with literally 2 extra settings, tried RR, same greeting, no fp, and no swipe to apps there, i don't really beg for their modifications as i have Xposed Edge for this. Finally went back to Floko knowing how to fix gapps problem, it's got best navbar solution, although with tons of bugs (contradicting navbar user actions, non responsive gestures, nonresponsive buttons), no tap2wake, AOD sucks, fp sucks too, produces blinking screen.
Looks like trebles are unusable, time to go back to XIAOMI EU... so much for "don't need device specific ROMs".

You have to flash *official* MIUI rom (China or Global depend on your hardware, and it's better to flash developer version to get latest update).
To install GApps, you have to do Wipe -> Advanced wipe -> Select system -> Resize, then Mount -> mount system, then install GApps zip.
dear mod please close this one, there seems to be already a conversation about this

tried to do that, tried to install arm64 Gapps, I'd get an error saying my system is arm, so i install arm gapps, they do get "installed", but when i reboot, there is no gapps at all.
edit: arm64 gapps worked when used LR.Team/wzsx150 twrp.

which Global please? this is the link http://en.miui.com/download-361.html claiming to be Full Rom, but the zip is similar to EU version, just a patch.. just tried it, then flashed EU and magisk and getting "can't connect to camera". i was thinking i need to flash some bigger package (.tgz file), but there's none published and going throught the million childish looking forums on eu.miui.com, not sure.. would like TWRP way. perhaps format system?

thanks but both links redirect me to http://www.miui.com/ in chinese where i can browse to quasi-full roms again. strange.
btw i'm a fan of your kernel except it causes "can't connect to camera".. after many combinations of flashing i tried skipping the kernel (v01, or v02 or any kernel), and camera is back. however without Night mode this time...

Hey,
Could you make your magisk patch to not require pressing FP scanner twice for FP to register?
Without the patch, works fine from first try, but with it, two presses at least are needed Everytime.
Thank you!

Miui 12 and GCam 48MP problem

I was using eszdman's 48MP module when stock miui 11 installed.
After I install xiaomi.eu miui 12, it didn't work.
I tried two different module which works on miui 11. One of them looks like installed but doesn't show in module tab. Other one installs without error. But when I reboot my phone, normal camera and gcam app doesn't open.
Is there anyone can use 48MP module on miui 12? (Stock or custom)
Same here... ?
If I try to install the Eszdman 48 MP module (for Burial GCam) with Magisk and then restart the system, the system hangs at startup. Are there any suggestions or solutions here?

Hi,
here you can find my version of LineageOS 20 for our Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 devices.
At first I want to thank @rINanDO and @ChronoMonochrome for all your work which helped me a lot.
This is a ALPHA build, also on the LineageOS side, so don't install it if you want a complete and stable rom and don't report my already listed bugs!
Here you can see how far everything is working for now.

I would recommend to use microG instead of BitGapps,
here you can find the installation instructions:
Spoiler: microG instructions
Download Magisk 24.1 and flash it via TWRP (yes, flash the APK file), reboot
Open Magisk and update the App (and do a reboot if it's asking)
Enable Zygisk in Magisk
Download and install microG installer in the Magisk manager, reboot
Download and install safetynet-fix in the Magisk manager, reboot
Check with a safetynet checker app and you should pass
If you plan to use a sim card in your device, I would recommend to disable the pin code before with another device.
In some cases the sim card becomes unusable while typing in the code.
Do you like my work?
Than you can simply hit the thanks button and consider to spend me a coffee or a beer,
I'm doing this in my free time and it also costs a lot of money to buy hardware.

It is now thanks very much... the folder was empty earlier, much appreciated
everything working fine at my end.
I'm using LOS20 + Magisk+BigGapps Magisk module. the setup quite stable and performance is usable.
I could install the Rom OK but cannot do the Magisk part as it wants to Update but fails to install from .apk file it downloads and updating the app needs the other update or it says something like it acts as though it is not installed so couldn't do the 3. Enable Zygisk in Magisk (Step). I used MindTheGapps-12.1.0 on the last 19.1 LineageOS so will go back to that for now as I know what I'm doing with that one

I did do a clean install and installed magisk through TWRP and it did ask later for permissions in the app itself and allowed via the slider and then updated but never got far with the program update. I've not used the magisk before so probably something I did wrong. Will have another play and video it next time to find where I'm going wrong and couldn't find the Enable Zygisk at all in settings or anywhere

Hey
Do not update Magisk, the new version does not work in our kernel. The Developer is working on a kernel update for our devices so that we can use the latest versions of Magisk. Just wait a little longer, I believe this rom will be one of the best created for our tablets.

Finally fixed the wake up problem in kernel, it took some time to figure out which driver was faulty.

Attention: this is only a test kernel at the moment, if you want to try it, there still could be other issues.

Sooo.. Since installing this rom I have no way to access TWRP. Power+Vol+ ends on "Warning!" screen saying that custom rom can cause problems and choice of two options:
- Vol Up - continue (restarts device and boots the OS),
- Vol Down - Cancel (boots to Download mode).
Rebooting to recovery with advanced reboot ands with above as well...
I reflashed TWRP with ODIN, but that changed nothing.
Any idea?
Ok, after 3 or 4 reflashes recovery works.
Now I have a problem with MAGISK. Manager says MAGISK is available, but doesn't give access to root - it acts as there is no root at all...
So MAGISK is there, but at the same time it isn't (attached image - 001251)... Used zip from OP.
Than after reflash, same zip, MAGISK is not available (000432)... Still boot image is MAGISK patched...

hello to all of you, the special rom (gsi rom) that you have been waiting for a long time has arrived.
note: custom rom is full port action, gsi rom is just to install system and sm-t500 sm-t505 and sm-t507 all gsi roms and twrp are compatible with each other
i will show you how to install gsi rom
1-) download original software latest version (one ui 4) from here
Sm-t507 link: https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-T507/TUR
Sm-t500 link : https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-T500
2-) Unlock your device's bootloader from the link I gave and create magisk root and flash it from od (it will be out of warranty)
Link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...4-unlock-bootloader-root-with-magisk.4185993/
it may say sm-t500 or sm-t505 there, but sm-t507 is also compatible and apply magisk root to your own software, not the software written there
3-) if root is installed download sm-t500 twrp from here sm-t507 and sm-t505 are also compatible
4-) Do all the gsi installation instructions in the link I will give and use the only gsi I said, the others are likely to not work
Link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ashing-guide-updated-android-13-gsis.4423297/
the gsi I recommend and their links
1-) lineage os gsi 19x no restart but brightness correction magisk module is required
link: https://sourceforge.net/projects/an...IAL-arm64_bgN-vndklite-secure.img.xz/download
2-) lineageos 20 td restarts every minute restart corrector + brightness corrector solved with magisk module
Link: https://sourceforge.net/projects/an...IAL-arm64_bgN-vndklite-secure.img.xz/download
3-) the best and most perfect pixel experience rom automatically restarts, restart corrector and brightness corrector solved with magisk module, just install the slim version
Link: https://github.com/ponces/treble_build_pe/releases
4-) our most feature gsi rom, evolution x, is not very stable, we hope it will be fixed in the new update, it will restart automatically, restart blocker and brightness regulator magisk module is required, install the slim version or it will not be installed
Link: https://github.com/ponces/treble_build_evo/releases
5-) It is almost the same as aosp lineageos 19, only the brightness cannot be fixed and magisk cannot be installed, it has an internal root, install the vndklite gapps version, if magisk and brightness are required, the vndklite gapps secure version will automatically restart and the installation will be solved with the magisk module
Link: https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/releases
6-) google gsi is the most perfect but least featured gsi no magisk module needed, not even magisk needed install arm64 + gms version
Link: https://developer.android.com/topic/generic-system-image/releases
7-) one ui 5 nippon
problems
samsung camera not working use other camera apps
developer options freezes flash the following 2 magisk modules
If you touch the screen on the lock screen before it is fully opened, wait for it to turn off again (it will not freeze if there is no password)

No charging animation when device is off (like lineageos gsi)
freezing on heavy games
samsung tablet search not working
sometimes boot problem when installing magisk module flash the magisk module below

the best i recommend
One ui 5 , Pixel experience, cherish os ,evolution x and google gsi are the best
all donations belong to Hausemaster
you can ask your questions to Hausemaster and me
only valid for sm-t507: When installing magisk boot and vbmeta, which I have prepared for those who cannot root, add it to the home csc section while installing the software from odin, choose either one and install it. If you want to install vbmeta, there is a separate link.
note: twrp won't work without vbmeta
hello finally one ui 5 gsi debload version is out I tested it today it really worked
old one was not working because other users changed nippon gsi (no vendor relevance)
Most of the apps in this gsi have been removed, galaxy store samsung camera and many more apps have been removed
no boot loops all features are working now i'm using one ui 5 it's pretty fast
problems
When Magisk installs a module, the phone stays on a locked screen and does not recover. Do not install a Magisk module!
eye shield not working
sometimes developer options not working issue (I accidentally fixed this issue but I don't know how I fixed it)
big icon and big keyboard (only tablet like this)

4-) Do all the gsi installation instructions in the link I will give and use the only gsi I said, the others are likely to not work

the gsi I recommend and their links
7-) one ui 5 debload nippon
problems
When Magisk installs a module, the phone stays on a locked screen and does not recover. Do not install a Magisk module!
eye shield not working
sometimes developer options not working issue (I accidentally fixed this issue but I don't know how I fixed it)
big icon and big keyboard (only tablet like this)
note: if a screen says the device is locked, turn off the screen a few times and turn it on again if it doesn't work, restart it (this method will not work if you use magisk module)

I already have Pixel EX 20 installed, but don't like the Pixel launcher. What do I need to do to install this one instead? Just wipe factory reset, flash this ROM and Magisk?

This worked.
HINT: For those who, like me, have a hard time using magisk to flash the watchdog and brightness fix zip, when you first boot the ROM, keep the USB cable plugged in and be ready to hold the power and vol up button as soon as the screen blanks. This will boot back into TWRP and you can flash the zip from there.
updated 3 times
One ui 5 gsi to all samsung
no boot loops all features are working now i'm using one ui 5 it's pretty fast
problems
samsung camera not working use other camera apps
sometimes developer options not working issue
If you touch the screen before it is fully opened on the lock screen it will turn off again just wait
big icon and big keyboard (only tablet like this) Let's wait until one ui 5 tablet gsi comes out
Note:
workaround: if a screen says the device is locked, turn off the screen a few times and turn it on again if it doesn't work, restart it
permanent solution : delete system knoxGuard (lucky patcher recommended)
Thanks nippon gsi and Hausemaster
