Actual screenshot(from moto x4)
Why does display looks red when the color is Orange. Is this real colour of the display or is display defective?
Are you on vibrand mode? Try on normal, maybe will make difference.

Unfortunately, X4's display is supersaturated when you use vibrant color option in display settings. and normal mode is under-saturated.
a custom kernel can solve this issue by small amount, but it's still can't fix it to normal levels. it's a real issue for me too specially after coming from Nexus 5x's awesome colour correct screen.

EDIT : Definitely, I previously used moto z which has AMOLED panel with vibrant colors but after using this the screen seems dark and I think It will take time to adjust to it. Overall a great device.

I think they have done this to please those guys who love punchy colors of Amoled displays. stock android has nothing to do with it it's just how they have made/calibrated vibrant profile.
the thing is looking good =/= perfect. people don't get it and always demand Amoled screen. thanks to that moto has made IPS panel too saturated. it can be fixed somewhat with custom kernel. but i won't recommend it right now because we don't have proper TWRP yet.

I can live with this if I can get used to this.
it goes super hyper vibrant only in powersaving mode, it's on purpose and there is no way to turn it off. othherwise it's not that bad
I observed the same as well. When I compare my Moto X4 to any other highend phones like the S8, iPhone 7, HTC U11, etc,.. the X4 seems to be darker (a bit saturated).
The issue is that all pics look dark on the phone so when I edit something and post it say, on Instagram. It will look really bright.
It's hard to edit now coz I don't know how it will look like on other devices.
I hope they will have another color mode aside from the vibrant and standard. Somewhere between the two.

I got a moto X a week or so ago and have notice faint lines running mostly vertically but also horizontally in the display, mostly visible in solid grays and white. I did my research and know that this is an issue with the manufacturing process of this generation of AMOLED, but I'm wondering if this will be prevalent in every single moto x or if it's just that some are worse than others (worth an exchange?)? Coming from an HTC M8 on another carrier, the fact that these solid colors look so weird with the line running through them is very disappointing (otherwise I actually like the phone better). I'll post a picture when I get a chance.

I just filled my screen with white looking for these lines and couldn't find anything. Probably a defect. Contact Motorola.
Easiest ways see it is to download the LCD test app and display full screen gray. If you don't see it, then I definitely have an issue because it looks like a textured background rather than solid color.

That's annoying. I may try to get one replacement to confirm this as I can't seem to find any display models locally anymore. I didn't like the display on my GS3 when I owned that and my latest foray back into amoled has been disappointing again.
Surprised I've not seen this mentioned (Maybe I have a faulty device) but my screen brightness isn't that great. Also the whites don't seem too white ... more brownish-yellow. Coming from a Note 3 so maybe Samsung has spoiled me ... I'm also finding the Moto X display practically unusable outdoors on a sunny day.
Here are some side by side pics ... first is with both on auto brightness and the second is with both at 100% brightness

So were the Moto X on display brighter or just as bright as your Moto X?
I thought the colors were fine, even coming from the m7 but my gf bought a note4 yesterday, wow those whites are really bright and white
My colors are very warm (yellowish) compared to my N5 or old G3, but the brightness (I feel) is a bit too bright on the auto sensor for my liking. Maybe I just got used to the G3's screen, that sucker was very dim.

The store models all looked the same as my X. I've since returned it and went back to my Note 3. When the Turbo dropped I went in store to compare screens with my N3 and sadly the Turbo has the same dim whites as the X ... So, I'll be hanging with my Note 3 for a while longer

According to the tests I've seen by PhoneArena and Anandtech, the Moto X (2014) is supposed to be brighter than the Note 3 at maximum brightness, I wonder why I've been reading differently from users. Either way, it's disappointing because outdoor visibility is really important to me.

I checked out my Maxx screen vs the Turbo & X 2014 at the local Vzw corporate store.
The Turbo was on par with the Maxx while the X was little dimmer. Which is better than the 1st X.
I made sure settings were the same.
My Maxx is typical & not great outdoors but better than my string of X's.

While this may sound crazy! This is normal (that there not exactly the same). While you might be able to keep comparing different S6 until you find a pair that "matches", or have the same screen brightness any random pick won't be the same...there are many factors and as simple as different build dates etc...
On the S6 now and have had every galaxy since the first one and several HTC's before. I always by in pairs (keep the wife upgraded) and have noticed this every single time and not just with the Samsung's. Just how it is.

Alright, thanks
This is 'normal'. I am on my 3rd S6 because the first two had that ugly pink tint to it. My 3rd phone not only has no pink tint, but also a really crisp white display. Compared to the previous phones, they were much more yellow.

I'm on my 3rd as well, no pink but it does have some green at the bottom sadly. It's not too noticeable, and I don't think I want to go through the hassle of getting a 4th replacement. There's a whole thread on it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/getting-replacement-s6-due-to-screen-t3074865
All the AMOLED displays for the S6 are going to have slightly different factory calibration on all profiles. So no two S6 displays are going to be the exact same.

Exactly. Basic knowledge
AMOLED does not have a backlight, it lights up each individual pixel which is why you can have inky blacks, because it simply turns off those pixels, unlike LED screens that use a black image with a light behind it giving off a grayish background.

light sensor is different in the camera (more sensitive or uneven)
I noticed a change in my screen after installing a tmobile update. Originally there was a completely black screen on the lockscreen, but after the update it almost appeared that there was a sort of gradient almost representing a light bleed.
Having the phone for over 3 weeks now and I've noticed in very low brightness (1-10%) that display is unevenly lit. Dark gradient on the right side. Visible especially if your view a dark grey solid colour.
Is this an OLED issue or do I have a defective panel?

If it's any consolation then even the one plus 7 (just checked my friend's) has the same issue. The notch also affects screen around it.
I have this on my 9TP. Only visable at very low brightness in a dark room and grey background.
Looks like a piece of tape what's folded up. Poor QC but it doesn't bother me.

The video shows what I am seeing on my S21 Ultra 512GB Snapdragon 888 that just came. When you tilt the screen with something white displayed, there is a magenta/pinkish hue if you aren't exactly looking at the display straight on.
Anyone else experiencing this, if so is yours the US version or Exynos?
Must admit, I'm pretty disappointed as my S20 Ultra screen has no color shift at all at any angle. I couldn't capture the exact time the color shift occurs, so images don't do it's annoying nature justice.
Overall, the phone is a nice phone, but this really annoys me so I'm debating on returning it.

Pink Tint Issue on S21U
Looks the S21 has it's first big issue. Pink hues when looking at it even from a slight angle. issue discussed at 12:59
forum.xda-developers.com
Yes. I try two S21u and both of them have this problem. Exynos version.
Same issue here. Qualcomm version.
I have the same issue!
I've seen 4 ones of 888 with the pink now. I tend to think it's not just one or 2 bad devices. This did help though.
I preordered mine and got it this weekend. 512GB Exynos vairant and can confirm that the pink tint indeed exists. I have it too. I am coming from a note 9 and looking at both side by side, the note 9 does not have the pink tint. Also I noticed that my tab S6 has the pink tint too. Its only visible on white backgrounds and when viewing the phone off axis.
I have this on my UK version too. Adjusting the colour filters pretty much removes it though.

Tried the colour filter trick didn't work for me. The pink tint still exists. I reckon its the hardware rather than the software. I remember this being an issue when the iphone x launched too. Apple was replacing handsets for those affected. Will ask Samsung for a replacement tomorrow and report back if the new unit has it too.

Actually on second thoughts i think you guys should try the colour filter trick. Maybe everyone needs different settings as everyone sees things differently. Here is what I did. Kept the white balance in the middle between cool and warm. In advanced settings i reduced the red slider all the way to 0 and the blue one to half way the green one is full and i do not see the pink tint anymore or even if it is there it is not as visible and annoying you really have to look for it. If this doesn't work for you then keep messing with the colour settings it might work. Use a white background to test what works.

Funnily, I've had to alter my display to take the green out but I definitely don't see pink, perhaps only at low brightness. As I said on another thread ,the display quality on the Ultra is way ahead of my OnePlus 8pro.
