Hi,
I recently bought an Redmi 2 4G model 2014817 in HK for a friend.
I would like to put the phone in french using an update of MIUI or a new ROM (stable). Currently only chinese and english are available.
I've read a lot of messages and it seems a bit complex.
What is your advice?
Thanks a lot!
I couldn't find a device-specific thread here on XDA, so I'm going to point you to the right section for your questions [in another forum].
check here: http://xiaomi.eu/community/forums/xiaomi-redmi-2-4g-lte.134/
Thanks I saw I've seen that except it's almost impossible to register.
In case I don't succeed to install multilingual pack, could I install another rom like cyanogen or a "clean" android (like on nexus) ?
Maybe I should wait a bit as the phone is quite new.
Cheers !
If you want to have MIUI with french, you have to use this ROM (specific for your device). It's the MIUI 6 Kit Kat Multilanguage.
If you want other ROMs, there's something Unofficial for now, the device is new. There's an Unofficial CyanogenMod 11.
Installing Multi MIUI it's very simple: http://en.miui.com/thread-11242-1-1.html
On this link it's for MIUI V5, but for MIUI 6 is almost the same.
Thanks a lot for all those info, I'll make a try today and let you know. I will try to keep MIUI first.
I let you know
Cheers,
Hey,
It has worked! in something like 5 minutes, very easy.
Just you need to install the driver before (on Win 8.1) to have better access to the internal memory.

Now I'm waiting for a new multilingual version with MIUI6
Thanks a lot!

Reinstall Oreo for your region, see if that fixes the problem. If it does, stay on Oreo and wait for the official release, which shouldn't be too much longer from now.

By this, you mean March, but continue to keep the OP's hopes up by saying "soon".

By " your region" you mean the Indian firmware that I installed previously to have pie or the official region that I'm? Thanks for your help
Sounds like an issue with the beta release of Pie that you have installed on your device. I would recommend that you reinstall Oreo back onto it.

"Soon" is February. The first official builds will be released in February, then custom ROMs will start coming out, also. Then he can install one of the custom ROMs that should work perfectly fine for him.

I mean your region, as in the country you live in. The firmware that is supposed to be on there, which it came with.
Hi.
I am using the stock MIUI Global 11.0.2 Rom.
It's based on Android 7.
The phone lags a little and performance is a bit slow. I want to flash a custom rom that gives it a boost makes it stable and removes lag.
Please suggest any best ROMs for it.
Go with latest build of Havoc OS as i am writing this comment latest build is Havoc OS 3.7 with latest security patch of july 2020. it is way far better than MIUI for Redmi 4X.
For the lag there is not much can be done. you will still find some lag on all ROMs here and there since it has Snapdragon 435 with 2/3/4 GB of RAM, but i can assure you havoc os will make device like new.

It's safe. No reason to wait as updates are good as they'll get.

don't android 10 has bugs unless you want to use custom rom
for one thing the wifi driver is bad ..your speed will go 20Mbps max and it will disconnect
ONLY upgrade if you gonna use root, custom kernel and custom rom....
What would be the most stable custom rom, currently I have MIUI12.5 but since my device is 32/3 it sometimes sticks, the storage fills up very quickly, forgive my English, I use a translator
To be honest, MIUI probably is the best as it's made by Xiaomi for your device - but the second best is probably Lineage OS, so give that a go.

The MIUI 12.5 problem, I have a class 10 sd and I cannot put it as internal storage, I tried axtivity launcher, but the problem is due to android 11, my storage is full, in my possibilities I could not buy the 64GB version, that's why I thought of a ROM
