Hi guys, got my pro on Thursday last week, enjoying it so far, but on Friday night noticed a bug. I use Google's messages app for my default messaging app. I like it, it performs well, I've been using it since it came out. However, whenever I try to send or if someone tries to send me an MMS it won't come through and it breaks my mobile data.
The default SMS app works for MMS and sending an MMS through there works even after messages has broken my mobile data and actually reactivates the mobile data. I don't get it. Any ideas?

Upon furher testing it seems that all 3rd party messaging apps have the same issue.
I got an update the other day and now it works
Mobile data is broken for me ... what was the particular symptom when 'mobile data broke' ? I do not have data at all on my phone, only WiFi. Thanks

This is my wife's new X. She wanted a freaking Iphone but I talked her into this. Just some color here.
She now has a notification in the tool bar that reads "messages unable to send." If you pull it down, it brings you to the general text app. There is nothing that tells her WHAT messages didn't send. It's driving her crazy. Even to the point of her going to Verizon (which she despises) who were, of course, zero help. Made her delete all her texts and it's still happening. All her texts read as sent and if you exit the text app, the notification goes away for a few seconds then reappears.
Need to know if any of you guys have an idea of why this is happening and if so, how to stop it.
She'll turn that thing into an iphone by the end of the week if I can't figure it out.
Thanks gang.
Does she have an active mobile data connection? I think she needs that to text on Verizon, wifi may not be sufficient.

Anyone else have a guess? It's driving her nuts.
Are her messages actually being sent and received?
Remove her sim and reinsert.
Google the Verizon APN settings and confirm they are correct in network settings.
Try a different texting app. I'd recommend Textra or hangouts.
If none of that works reply here I'm sure there will be more help incoming.
I sometimes have this problem when sending pictures to iPhones, it will constantly fail to send. Rebooting usually solves it

Have you tried Settings > Apps > swipe R to L to get to All > Messaging > Force stop > Clear cache > Clear data. Restart and try another message. Or as others have suggested, try another messaging app. I really like 8SMS and have set that as my default messaging app and set Active Notifications to show 8SMS notifications by default.
Switched to Chomp SMS and it's fine.
Thanks all.

I had the same problem before the 4.4.3 update. It was picture mail that wouldn't send. Our APNs have a dedicated MMS APN that needed to be configured for my mvno . once I configured the APN I rebooted and it sent whatever picture mail I had been trying to send out.

A lot of people actually seem to be having trouble with SMS after the 4.4.3 update. It generally seems to be because they've disabled the app "messaging" and for whatever reason, they can't reenable it after the update.
It doesn't make much sense though, because texting apps can't rout messages through other apps anymore.

I had the problem before the update and after I updated it was already fixed but it was because my service provider and I figured it out before the update

I'd been getting the unsent SMS every couple days on 4.4.2. I used 'Permission Friendly Apps' to find what had 'Send SMS' permissions. I don't use Skype from my phone, so I uninstalled it. I also disabled SMS and turned off the 'Improve Hangouts' option in Hangouts. After about a week, still no mysterious empty message.
It's not proof any of that fixes anything, but may be worth a try?

Anybody having issues sending and receiving MMS via WiFi?
Just curious - are you using the stock messaging app, or something else?
I'm coming from an LG G2, and spent a few months working with support to finally determine I couldn't use a non-stock app and still send MMS over wifi. I miss Handcent, but switching back to the stock app did the trick. I don't know if that's true with the S6, but would guess it is.

Using stock messenger app. I tried tweaking the APN according to what others were recommending on older gen Galaxys by selecting IPv6/IPv4 but still not able to get MMS to work over wifi.

any others?
any others that preferrably have an archive feature + block like g-messengeR?
After updating to Lollipop, my AT&T S4 Active quit sending and receiving MMS.
Spent an hour on the the phone with Straight Talk to no avail. They say everything is right on their end and everything is set correctly on my end.
Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have a solution?

Did you check the APN settigns? Default Network type?
I did. I went through numerous checks and changes of the APN with Straight Talk support to no avail.
The only thing that has changed is going to Lollipop.
(I have even tried switching to several different messaging apps- AT&T messaging, Google messenger, and Go SMS Pro.)

Did you try clearing cache/dalvik in stock recovery? And why does your signature say SM-G900A, I assume you have the i537 as well? (Sorry just gotta filter out the obvious solutions til we can get down to the bottom of this).
I have and use the s5 (900a) and my wife uses the s4active (537).
I did try wiping the Dalvik and cache to no avail.

These are my settings on lollipop. I used the straight talk apn app from play store to set them.

This is exactly how mine has been set. Straight Talk tech even had us try settings that he called their diagnostic servers.

Hello I too have been having the issue with MMS since upgrading to lollipop, it will show pending and not send. Now if i turn on my wifi then it will send, and thats the only way i have figured it out on my phone. I have cricket service and when calling in to ask about this issue, they advised me thats its only on this phone that wifi is needed to send or receieve mms. I tried removing Google messenger but that didnt work either as well as deleting cache in recovery. Is anyone else having this issue on this phone.
I have the International version and have had a similar problem for a while. If I try to send or receive MMS my mobile (cell) data stops. I have to turn if off and on again and wait to get to wifi to see the picture. Did you have a problem with cell data crashing aaronkemp172460?
I also use Google Messenger as my sms app, maybe I need to ditch it.
I have a note 8 on metropcs and I can't send mms through stock messaging. When I use a 3rd party app it works fine. Any one else have this problem or know how to fix it?

I have Verizon and as of 10 days ago, cannot use the stock Samsung app to send any mms messages including Picture or group texts. I can receive mms messages fine, just cannot send them. Also, if I use a 3rd party app, the mms messages work fine, just a little slow. I have cleared the app data, booted in safe mode, had Verizon refresh the network, and wiped my phone multiple times. Nothing has fixed the problem. Wiping the phone worked temporarily. I need to use the stock messaging app in order to use the messaging function on my gear s3
You may need the configurations that your carrier provides for mms with the stock app, ask yor carrier for them

Same as me. I'm thinking about contacting Samsung about it to see what they can do

Since a system software update that occurred in early May, I cannot send MMS messages from any texting app EXCEPT the built in Samsung Messages app. I was using the Google Messages app but have been forced to switch to the Samsung one. Also tested with Textra and it doesn't work either. Tried all the standard troubleshooting: reboot, reset network settings, double checked APN settings) but no success. I CAN send SMS messages from any texting app. Just not MMS
That would indicate there is an issue with Google Messages then. The data settings for sending MMS but be correct as the Samsung app works and they share the mobile settings.
You could try uninstalling and reinstalling the Google messages app to reset it and make sure the RCS rich chat feature is then turned off.

As I mentioned, I this issue affects the Textra messaging app as well, and I would expect it to affect any other texting app besides Samsung Messages. I have of course tried uninstalling and reinstalling Google Messages but the issue persists.
my suggest, send your log file to samsung with repeating the issue (sending MMS) before, maybe send it via email to them.
